[PP-F2] Hunt part II <Morgenstern> completed

Recommended Posts

Itzal had never encountered a boss of any sorts before and had no idea what to expect.  When he saw how fast it struck at Jonathan it only made him that much more cautious.  When Jonathan called switch Itzal rushed up from the side.  The goblin however, seemed to hear Jonathan call and snapped it's attention to Itzal.  By the time Itzal jumped to slash at the monster, it reacted by swinging it's spear at him.  Itzal would never have been able to avoid the attack if it hadn't been for his years developing instinct and reaction skills on video games.  He swung his sword at the spear so that his body was lowered and therefore out of harms way.  He slid underneath the goblin and rolled to his feet on the other side.  The monster tried attacking Jonathan again but he was well out of the way.  Dang it.  This mob was smarter than any other monster he'd ever faced.  Even that one wolf who seemed to know whatever Itzal was planning to do.  He hoped they'd kill this beast before the other three came back.

Jonathan watched as Itzal attacked from the side. The goblin struck his spear that way to keep him from attacking. Now was Jonathan's chance. With a burst of a green light, Jonathan charged forward. The goblin refocused on Jonathan and struck forward. Jonathan blocked the attack with his sword and moved in for another but the goblin moved away. Jonathan backed up a little. Itzal and Jonathan had to hit him now while they still had energy to use sword arts.

Itzal saw it.  The perfect opportunity:  When the goblin struck at Jonathan he saw it's shoulders move apart.  If it did that again Itzal was certain he could hit a very soft and painful spot.

"Let him swing at you again!" he called.  Jonathan nodded his acknowledgement and Itzal positioned himself on a crystal tall enough for him to make the shot.  He waited until he saw the goblin raise it's spear and jumped with all his might.  As he charged snake bite he saw the shoulders withdraw.  The now dark red glowing Retributor was forced with all it's might into the section directly between muscle and bone of the right shoulder, effectively landing a critical attack, bleeding effect, and pissing the monster off.  It reacted like a bull, trying everything to knock Itzal off.  What it didn't realize was that the harder it shook the tighter Itzal held onto his now stuck sword.

"Get it to stop!" he called.  "Stop it!"

Remember its 8 foot not 80

Jonathan watched as the Goblin King rose his spear to strike at Jonathan then Itzal climbed up a crystal then stuck his sword in the goblin's shoulder blade. Itzal was stuck on the goblin. The king Bellowed and tried to shake the boy off. Jonathan had to give Itzal time to get himself down. Jonathan yelled at the Goblin grabbing its attention. Now was Jonathan's turn to strike. Jonathan dashed forward. The Goblin slammed his spear at Jonathan, but Jonathan easily, dodged. He struck the green King in the chest and then tripped it slashing its foot. Jonathan sheathed his sword, then helped Itzal pull out his sword. Jonathan moved out of the way and unsheathed his sword again.

The force of the sword coming out knocked Itzal off balance and he fell off the goblin.  When he hit the ground the air was knocked out of his lungs and he needed a moment to recover.  He glanced at Jonathan and watched him deflect an attack from the goblin.  He gathered some of his air and whistled to Velnia, who rushed over.

"Distract..  That thing..  For Jonathan..  Hurry.."  He had a bad feeling that if she didn't the monster would hit Jonathan with an electrifying attack.  They couldn't factor that important information out of the battle.  He watched as Velnia shot a tiny stream of flame onto the goblin's face, singing the skin but doing absolutely nothing besides distracting it.  Fortunately she had timed it so she distracted it just before the monster attacked and his next strike was off.  Itzal got to his feet and saw the monster flinch when the bleeding effect kicked in.  'One more bleed and the effect will be over," he thought.

Jonathan watched as the small dragon tried to distract the creature. It was an annoyance for the goblin King. Jonathan grinned. Jonathan dashed forward, His sword shone a brilliant green, causing the nearby crystals to cast an odd light. The goblin brought it's spear back and thrusted it forward. The spear hit Jonathan right in the shoulder. Jonathan rolled to the ground, and his sword skidded across the floor with a clang. The goblin laughed. Jonathan stood up. He sprinted over to his sword, and picked it up. As long as it remained focused on him no one would die.

Itzal rose to his feet and saw that Jonathan missed and was struck by the furious goblin.  Before he made another move however his brain finally made a connection.  He turned to Velnia.

"What are you doing here?!  Your suppose to keep those other goblins off our tail!"  she shook her head, seemingly telling him she'd explain later that they were fine.  Seeing as how she hasn't been wrong yet he sighed and nodded.  "Right then," he said as he charged his sword art.  He dashed by the goblin and struck twice at it with snake bite.

Jonathan watched as Itzal made another successful hit. The King was almost in the yello zone. A great hit and Jonathan could have him there. Jonathan smirked and rushed forward. His sword was energized with the power of a sword art. Jonathan dashed forward. The Goblin King noticed Jonathan and struck his spear forward. He hit Jonathan square in the chest. Jonathan flew to the ground. Jonathan tried to move but couldn't. He looked at his health bar and noticed that it showed a new symbol. Paralysis. The Goblin Laughed, readying to strike the defenseless player again.

Itzal saw the danger his friend was in now and rushed over to his aid.  The monster landed another hit on his friend before Itzal jumped and unleashed snake bite on his foe on the side.  The goblin's health finally fell into the yellow zone and it roared with rage.  With incredible speed it charged at Itzal and struck at him with mind boggling speeds.  Itzal was slightly faster however and jumped, rolled, and parried the blows the monster made.  He had to keep this creature focused on him until Jonathan's paralysis was over.  Just a little longer.

Jonathan watched as Itzal struck the goblin again. The goblin's health was now in the yellow zone. Jonathan's excitement dropped. Itzal now had more hate then Jonathan. Itzal was the target. Jonathan tried to reach forward and grabbed his sword. The paralysis wore off, and Jonathan grabbed his sword. He had to gain hate. He charged forward, his sword gleaming green. This was his time. If he failed his friend was at big risk. He dashed forward, slashing the goblin once sending it a foot in the air. Jonathan than struck the goblin again, sending it into the ground. Jonathan stood ready. Now he had enough hate to be targeted. Jonathan smirked. Hopefully his fried would miss next time so the hate would be given to Jonathan.

Itzal heard steel scrape stone and glanced at Jonathan, relieved to see that the paralysis wore off.  He returned his attention to the monster in front of him just in time as he thrust his spear down for a strong blow.  Itzal jumped and pushed off of the spear's handle and struck at the goblin's arm with snake bite, once over and once under.  When he landed he rolled to his feet and turned around, jumping back as the monster struck at him again and their deadly dance continued.

Jonathan watched as Itzal made another successful hit. This was bad. Once again, the boy was put into a bad position where the Goblin was after Itzal. Jonathan sighed and readied his sword with the sword art snakebite. The light from the sword, lit up the room a bit and Jonathan dashed at his opponent. Honing in on his enemy, Jonathan brought his blade behind him then moved it from the hip and struck the Goblin again. The Goblin bellowed, but Jonathan struck it again, knocking it to the ground. Jonathan smirked. Jonathan readied himself again as he moved back i to a defensive position.

Itzal watched as the goblin fell on the ground.  He waited until the creature stood up again and prepared a second attack.  Itzal charged as the goblin made the blow and jumped onto it's back as it bent over, slashing Retributor at both of the monster's weak points between the shoulder bones and muscles, not dealing much damage, but effectively planting the bleeding effect on it once again and keeping it from hitting his friend.  This was going to go a lot quicker now.  He flipped off of the disgusting creature's head and rolled safely on the ground.

Jonathan grimaced. He only had enough energy for one more snakebite. He had to make it count. Since the black haired boy had hit a critical, Jonathan would have to get a hyper critical to get back in the lead. Jonathan dashed forward, striking, once, then spinning and striking again. Jonathan smirked as the goblin entered the red zone. Jonathan also was the target again. Jonathan smiled and readied himself. He was out of energy so the fair fight began now. The goblin struck forward with his spear, but Jonathan blocked it with his sword. "Now! Itzal!"

Itzal saw the goblin roar in pure rage and swung it's huge heavy spear like it was a toothpick.  It struck repeatedly at Jonathan and at first Itzal thought he was in trouble, but then he noticed that Jonathan was deflecting every single attack.  Itzal took a moment to feel proud of Jonathan's reaction and skill.  Jonathan called to Itzal and he nodded.  Itzal rushed forward to strike at the goblin but little did he know that it had it's eyes on the both of them.  In a blink of an eye it swung the butt of it's spear at Itzal who pulled up Retributor just in time to block the attack, though it sent him backwards into the wall.  He grimaced but he didn't get injured in any way.  He had a plan and tossed Velnia a long grayish vine he found nearby.  When he called to Jonathan she'd understand what he meant.

"Distract him!" he called.  "I'll try to finish this brute off from behind!"

Jonathan nodded to Itzal and yelled at the Goblin. The Goblin turned the leapt backward. It threw down its spear, which shattered on the ground, and a huge golden sword materialized in its hand. The goblin grinned and Jonathan dashed at the creature. Jonathan swung his sword, whihc the goblin deflected. He stabbed again, hitting the goblin's shoulder. The Goblin slashed Jonathan, hitting him in the arm. The goblin dashed forward, and kicked Jonathan ten meters back with a laugh. Jonathan stood up. "Watch yourself, Itzal!"

The goblin turned around immediately since it heard Itzal mention an attack from behind.  He saw Itzal rushing forward without fear with the black blade in his hand.  The goblin laughed with eyes of a madman and raised it's blade for the killing blow.  Itzal ran faster and just when the goblin swung down Itzal fell to the ground and.......  Was dragged by an invisible being underneath him?  In truth Itzal had Velnia pull the vine he tossed her so that Itzal would be dragged under the goblin beside Jonathan again.  He knew it was sure to change weapons and that he'd have no time to adjust his strategies with the intense speed it was giving off.  So he simply decided to provide Jonathan the perfect opportunity to finish it off.

"Alright Jonathan!" He called out with an unseen grin on his face.  As he said that the goblin flinched as the bleeding effect kicked in.  It tired pulling it's sword out but it was tuck faster than Thor's hammer in hades hands.  "Deal the final blow!"

Jonathan watched as the goblin's health became a mere sliver. This was his chance. The chance to make a final hit. Jonathan smirked and charged forward. He had to end this. Right here. Jonathan dashed forward. the Goblin swung his sword, but Jonathan deflected it. Jonathan stabbed the Goblin in the chest with a yell. Jonathan's sword stuck in it. The creature bellowed and exploded. Millions of little blue fragments flew everywhere. Jonathan sighed and sheathed his sword. Jonathan looked over at Itzal. He smiled. We did it!" Jonathan looked down at himself, seeing red marks and gashes everywhere but he was okay. Jonathan smiled and looked back over at Itzal. Im Done! Lets head back to Urbus!

Itzal took off his hood and mouthpiece and smiled as he panted.  "Yeah!  We did it!  We killed a boss!...  Well sort of.  Not really a full on boss but close enough for me!"  He looked at Jonathan with a renewed view.  He seemed to concentrate on training the entire time he was with Itzal but he seemed very friendly as well.  In truth Itzal felt he was looking at himself in the mirror.  He wanted to get to know Jonathan more and he felt like this was exactly what he needed to start that road.  Sure he had gained some friends while in SAO where in the real world he had maybe one, but he felt he would always like to have more.  "You're pretty amazing!" Itzal complimented.  "That monster hit you multiple times and it looks like you were merely scratched!"

Jonathan listened as Itzal rejoiced about beating the Goblin. Hey, you are not so bad yourself with those bleeding hits!" Jonathan looked at the boy and said, "Hey to end this journey... Once we are safe in Urbus do you want to duel? It will show us what we need to improve on, if we ever have to fight another player." Jonathan began to scout the area. Then he seen something behind the Goblin's throne. A tunnel? Jonathan looked up and seen sunlight. Jonathan took a deep breath and said, "i found a quick way out!" Jonathan climbed up the tunnel and found himself on a small flat topped mountain. He looked over and seen Urbus. It was not even a mile away! It really is fun to have a partner around. He made this journey pretty fun. It was definenlty an experience.
