Her father is professor of Asian Studies, and her mother teaches Literature. Seventeen and a junior in high school, Shay' life was pretty average. A decent student, fairly popular, rather pretty; she has had all the charms for an easy life which she has put to good use. The oldest of three children, she has two brothers 15 and 6 whom she is responsible for as her parents both work very long hours. Shay found herself in SAO quite by accident. Her family was in Japan visiting relatives for a holiday right about the time SAO was released. On opening day, her cousins and brothers were taking turns logging into the pair of netgear in the home. Since Shay had not had a turn, she was asked if she' like to check out the opening ceremony and she agreed. She created her character and as soon as she completely logged on, she found herself in the town of beginning where she learned of her fate. Shay has only ever been a casual gamer, but now that she has to fight her way out of a game, she's ready to learn to be a badass and make it home alive again. Shay not only marches to the beat of her own drum, but she makes up the music as well. She is a completely untamed spirit who goes along through life as a force of nature rather than a gentle breeze. She has is an affectionate, friendly girl always willing to take care of others and helping out as much as she can when she can. When she found herself stuck in SAO she was rather excited about the prospect. She sees it as an opportunity to learn something new, have an adventure and find out exactly what kind of stuff she'd made of. Appearance At 5'1 ½", Shay is petite in stature but rather well endowed and curvy girl. She has long black hair, fair skin, and large doll-like teal eyes. Her style and taste in things is rather girly and she meticulously coordinates everything she wears so she always looks perfectly put together. Shay is not a terribly vain girl, but she does all she can to ensure she is found to be pleasing to others. Virtues ✿Free-Spirited Shay is a soul who is not bound by the "norm". The young woman has formulated her ideas of the world, and this perspective was nurtured by her professor parents. She feels uninhibited by social conventions and societal morality, though she will tend to follow certain ones out of common curtsey and respect. ✿Adventurous The world is wide and wondrous and Shay wants to explore everything she can. Her life plan is to travel the world, so she can see, smell, touch, taste, and do everything. She has a “life list†and it is more than 30 pages of type ten font size, with over a thousand things to do. Shay is naturally curious about everything and yearns to know about it all. ✿Fast Learner If you can teach it, Shay can learn it. Her uncanny ability to absorb and quickly put a skill to use is one of Shay’s most useful abilities. Her gift is particularly useful when learning physical abilities. Because Shay is a fast learner, she is constantly studying new things and picking up new hobbies. ✿Tenacious What Shay cannot quickly learn, she will endeavor to persevere until she does. Nothing stops her from her goals, not even her own self. When she starts to doubt herself, she will literally give herself an out loud personal pep talk and then get to work on whatever it is she needed to get done. ✿Motherly Shay is very protective, kind and caring toward everyone she meets. She wears her heart upon her sleeve and readily shares it whether it is through encouraging words, a hug, drying of tears, or the kissing of booboos, Shay does it all. Being the oldest of three children and spending much time filling in for her busy parents has given the young lady much practice in taking care of the needs of others and happily doing it. Flaws✿Indecisive If you ask Shay what she wants, she could not tell you. There are often too many choices and options to be weighed that the decision making process tend to overwhelm her and she can't make heads or tails of a situation. If she truly needs to make a decision on something, it tends to take her quite a bit of time and coaxing, and even then she's still not 100% sure the choice she's made is correct as she tends to suffer from self doubt. ✿Over-emotional Shay wears her heart on her sleeve and because if this, it tends to take more damage than she often means to let be inflicted upon it. She tends to get overly sensitive to most things due to misunderstandings and she often has a hard time expressing her feelings, often prone to anger or tantrums instead of expressing her true feelings. ✿ Mother Hen The dark side of being motherly, Shay can often become too overprotective of those that matter to her and even be a bit meddling when she thinks she's doing something in the best interest of another to the point that she's smothering. She feels like she is being helpful, but in most cases she behaves this way out of selfishness of wanting to control a situation. Her affections for him grew, but she kept them to herself as she didn't know how she felt other than the gratitude she had for his assistance. It wasn't until she had a traumatic run in with the Gemini, did she figure out her true feelings. That very night she asked him to come home with her, and he agreed. Life then confessed his love for her and she reciprocated his affections with her own confession of love.
