  2. The man was tempered to silence as the play began, with Destin on his right and his wife on his left cutting two halves of himself down the center. The play was ran elegantly and rhythmically from the NPC destined to perform it, and it made Raidou wonder if any players had ever found the interest in joining them on stage. An actor in a play among peers of different composition, a union that made light the differences and bound them together. Much like the topic of the play, albeit tinted less of romance but of hardship and comradery. Minutes turned quickly to an hour, and the man for once allo
  3. Reytac scoffed under his breath and shook his head, making a mental note to stay the hell away from this shop in the future. Whether or not the NPC remembered what had happened today, he sure as hell would and didn't fancy dealing with a slimeball like this in the future. Just as well that he'd gotten the profession so even if Hirru was unavailable, he could just appraise things himself. He roused himself from his thoughts when Sin spoke, and he accepted the contact request without a second thought as he shook his head. "'Hussy' or not, that's the kind of thing you choose for yourself wh
  4. The air on Floor 10 had a strange stillness to it, thick, damp and filled with the faint hum of unseen things moving behind the stone. Yomi wasn't a place that welcomed travelers; it swallowed them. The deeper Jack descended, the more the world felt muted, sound, color, even thought, reduced to slow, heavy echoes under the weight of the earth. He kept his lantern ahead of him, so he could see the narrow path ahead. Each step stirred dust from the uneven floor, fine motes glimmering like pale sparks before fading into the dark. Crumbling structures lay half-swallowed by roots and fungi, r
  5. Fae listened silently as they walked, content to just let Nari and Rey talk as they moved through the halls of the cavern lost in her own thoughts. As far as she knew, and when it came to all but the highest floors of Aincrad what she knew was more than what she didn't, there wasn't any place on the tenth floor that could be considered a garden, and much less one that would make it any easier to find Mats. That tied with the glances between Nari and Nemo made it all seem fishy, but Fae didn't really know how. She knew that Nari wouldn't just blatantly lie about this, she had no reason to, and
  6. A sorrowful expression passed briefly over Fae's face at the talk of her father, it was clearly an old hurt, but it would always be there waiting to rear it's head at a moments notice. "He really did, his paintings are honestly the reason I put the nerve gear on in the first place, the trailers all showed these beautiful environments and they looked just like the things my dad would dream of. So me and a friend agreed to come in together." Fae choked up, talking about her father was an old wound, but Kas was a much fresher one. It hit sort of like a hammer to the chest and Fae stopped moving f

  9. "Uuuuuuuugh. Dragging me back into school against my will. You sound like my sister. Do you have any flashcards? Those always worked best for me." But 3ulogy made no attempt to hide the curiosity in his voice. An item that didn't register as an attack or a weapon was a fascinating find. It made all sorts of things possible... He planned to take plenty of notes. "No crowded areas, got it." "No one will get killed, promise." 3ulogy nodded along. "Being an Orange Player sounds like hassle, anyways. I won't do anything bad with the bombs." 3ulogy looked over the glass ball one more ti

  11. "Wow. You must be pretty skilled to be able to on purposely do that, and make it look like an accident." Mari jested as she caught the tiny gaseous ball Eulogy tossed back to her. With far more ease. "This was for you, actually." Not trusting the kid to catch it properly this time Mari turned and sat it on the table. "Just pick it up on your way out, and don't use it in a safe zone if you can help it. It...." She paused, fingers tapping the glass in thought. Unsure if she should share the information with him, and this time, against her better judgement, she did. "This particular one doesn't r
  12. Reytac stumbled a little on the transition, his eyes going wide with shock as he took in the near-abrupt transition between the dank, depressing caves of the tenth floor to what had to be a paradise in comparison. He raised one hand up over his eyes, shading them as he looked around in shock. He hadn’t known what to expect from the quest that he had inadvertently joined Nari in doing, but to see this place of rolling fields and lush vegetation after the gloomy atmosphere was outright jarring. It was easy to understand, now, why Nemo was so proud of this place, and why Nari had been sneaking fu
  13. ”Name? Oh, right, sorry. I go by Reytac, Miss Arbalest. And yes – any of us making it to the top is going to benefit all of us.” He watched her for a moment as she looked around for more plants, remembering when he'd gone through the same hassle when he was searching for Zackariah’s herbs and whatnot. But more, he was thinking about the promise she said she had made. It was a noble promise, one that was born out of a concern for the feelings of the person she had made it to, he was sure – but it was also one that he felt was wildly opposed to the goal she held for herself. The road to the very
  14. Just on the outskirts of Yomi, the main settlement on the 10th floor stood a large tent; its permanence on the floor a staple. The near darkness of the floor hides the stains on the outside of the tent, blood and dirt - as though the thing was dragged through a warzone before being hastily set up. Simply for how long it had been there, rumours kept most away. 'The Pink Pker' they would say. Others, simply decided whatever wares were sold there were not worth the hassle of dealing with the prickly person inside. Within it, a faint yellow glow, followed by a myriad of scents that burn the nose.

  18. Jack smiled when Alinta wiped the sweat from his brow, her sleeve brushing lightly against his skin. "You're doing amazing yourself," he told her, a warm and soft tone of voice. The simple touch, the sight of her standing there despite the exhaustion, lit something inside him. He took a swig of the water she offered, the cool liquid cutting through the furnace-like air of the floor. He set the flask down, then reached out and brushed his thumb against her cheek, tracing the faint flush there. "I owe you," he whispered looking into her eye, meeting her gaze for a moment longer than intende
  19. The forest gradually thinned as Jack made his way back toward the small clearing where he’d first met Giovanna. The rhythmic crunch of leaves under his boots felt almost comforting now, the tension that had carried him through his search beginning to ease with each step. The compass pulsed faintly in his hand, its glow now dimmer, calmer, until finally, it faded completely as if acknowledging that its purpose had been fulfilled. When the treeline broke, the familiar sight of Giovanna’s modest campsite came into view. The woman in green was tending to a small fire beside her wagon, humming
  20. Alinta flinched when the man approached, expecting him to whack her in her chest just like had done to Scar, but instead she got a single nod of approval. Had…she done it right? Alinta didn’t think she had done anything different. Still…the approval felt good. Alinta grinned, feeling an unexpected wave of confidence course through her. She hadn’t expected to…actually enjoy this. She was only here to support Scar, at least initially. But maybe she was just a natural at this sort of thing? “I just…figured I’d take it slow and easy.” Alinta said to Jack, she turned back to the training dummy
  21. When Alinta's bokken hit the dummy, the man gave a faint smile, nodded his head in approval and then looked towards Jack again. Jack couldn't restrain himself from running up to her with a beaming face. "You did amazing! And that was your first try!" he said proudly, his words tumbling out in genuine delight. Before Alinta could say a word, the man's bokken came down in a quick and controlled motion at a low level, intercepting Jack's path and thus him losing his balance, as a result, he fell on the floor face down. Jack groaned and then, with a cheeky grin, he rolled over on his bac
  22. Alinta laughed, “Runway? No…no…” She waved him off. “Events, PR? Shoots? yeh…I mean…” She stood and gave Scar a small twirl, then picked up his hand and placed it against her own waist. Hoping he wouldn’t catch just how profusely she was blushing, and how her skin erupted into goosebumps at the mere press of his palm. “I told you, I just ain’t runway model built. But…I can say I am confident in how I look.” Alinta knelt down, pressing her forehead to his. “Although, I do adore the compliments you give me.” Alinta knelt down to clasp Scars hands in hers. “It’s not a matter of if we get out
  23. Post Action: Foraging for a Demonic Shard The‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ forest had gone eerily quiet after the battle. The very faint shimmer of dissolving data receded into the canopy light, leaving only the smell of wet earth and burnt leaves behind. For a moment, Jack was still, his eyes were looking at the area of the ground where the Nepent had fallen. He could still feel the weight of his heartbeat echoing faintly through his hands, the aftershock of combat, the tension refusing to fade. But there was still work to do. He sheathed his sword with a deliberate motion and retrieved the com

  25. When Alinta said, "This look suits you better," Jack looked over at her, still amazed at how she could look beautiful even after the exhausting hike. "I bet you still looked as amazing as you do right now," he said fondly, unable to stop himself from smiling. As she talked about her life before, how much effort went into her videos, the frustration of algorithms, Jack chuckled softly. "You know, I'd probably be one of those people replaying your videos over and over again." he teased, leaning slightly across the table. His tone playful, but there was sincerity in his eyes. When she m
