[PP-F11] Jack be Nimble, Jack be Quick
Vex Vexxus replied to Vex Vexxus's topic in Intermediate Floors
“Ohooo~” I noticed his approach, solid steps filled with purpose and determination. Eyes shifting around as though he were looking for something. Or someone. He was sans his little bird. I was going to ignore him initially, because frankly - I didn’t care. But he had a sort of wild determination in his eyes that I just found… so… very.. Delectable. I licked my lips. Finding my own form of fun. “HellooOOoo~” I swung, hanging upside down from the tree, so his my landed smack bang right in front of the man. I giggled. “Well, if it isn’t the one eyed Jack.” I lifted a red gloved hand ‘bo -
Three weeks. It hadn't felt that long. The days since Tybalt and Alice still carried the same bitter taste, smoke and silence, fragments of memory that refused to fade no matter how far he walked. The Eighth Floor had left a scar that time couldn't quite reach. The kind that followed in the quiet moments, when everything else went still. The forests here were different. Alive. The canopy above was thick and deep, filtering the sunlight into scattered pockets of gold that danced across moss-covered roots. Every breath carried the scent of damp wood and earth, a calm that was almost convinc

Alinta watched as he tried to lift his arm, fingers twitching and failing. “Don’t try to move too much yet.” A whispered plea as she began to run her perfectly manicured fingers through his hair, nails scraping lightly against his scalp, soothing and slow motions. "Alinta.." He swallowed, his voice sounding dry, raspy. “I’m here. I-O-Oh! Uh…H-Hang on….” Alinta opened her inventory, and pulled out a small thermos of green tea; it wasn’t much, a dingy brown looking thing, and the lid, a cup - a faded red. “This was…” She looked down at it, fingers dancing across its warm surf

Mari’s reaction to the source of Aeva’s current anguish shouldn’t have surprised anyone, though the white-haired girl kept finding herself reminded over and over again that this world wasn’t real. Most remembered this fact due to their daily interaction with it, but for Aeva, Aincrad was still so brand new. Video games in general were, so it was incredibly easy for her to get immersed to the point of forgetting what was reality and what was fiction. Still… When she looked at that creature, lying and shivering in the snow, it stirred something in the girl. Something she didn’t fully understand.

The cool weight of the towel on his forehead brought a brief, fragile peace. The pounding in his head dulled to a rhythm he could almost ignore, and for a moment, he could pretend he was fine, that the world wasn't still flickering around him like a dying flame. His vision blurred and steadied in uneven intervals, Alinta's silhouette bending and reforming through the haze. He could hear her movements, careful and deliberate, the quiet drag of fabric, the faint tremor in her breath. She was trying so hard to keep herself together. And that hurt more than anything else. Jack tried to l

The healer continued to help Aeva along, both in her health and spirit. No matter how much she would rather wish otherwise, he was probably right. It was far better she learn everything at once, and she was grateful that this hermit had the foresight to know that. Aeva wasn’t sure that she could have done the same thing if the roles were reversed. To tell someone everything the healer told her and brace for their reaction. Aeva wasn’t sure she could kill their hope like that. Luckily, the man working to save her life also tried to ease the trauma of the ordeal as best he could. While nothing w

Sitting upon a tree; a solitary quiet tree that stood between a fork in the road that led both into and out of Taft sat a figure dressed all in white; fine pressed cotton, freshly laundered. He hummed a light-hearted tune, balancing a dagger upon a single gloved finger. Every so often he’d toss it into the air and caught it again. There was not much to do, on call for the boss, and Khione was still not talking to him ever since he outed himself as a Laughing Coffin member. Little silly woman - worried she too would be exposed. If she were so concerned, why join in the first place. Such wo

Her head shot up hearing his feeble voice, the faint vibrato was all it took to have Alinta straight to his side. Shaking hands clasped tight over his outstretched one as she shuffled forward toward the bed on her knees. “Oh Scar…” She whispered, a deep shuddered whisper, a release she so sorely needed. The woman didn’t realize just how much this would affect her. “I’m so sorry..” A whisper as she pressed her head into his shoulder, leaning over him in the bed. “You told me you’d leave scars on my heart but I let them all over you… I wanted to show you what I bought but…n-not like this.”

The world had become a flickering blue of color and sound. He couldn't distinguish what was real anymore. Light and shadow rippled across his vision, like sunbeams warping beneath the water. Somewhere in that haze, he remembered hearing her, Alinta's voice, cutting through the chaos. Initially, the voice was faint, frantic, and calling for help. Then it became close, trembling as she called his name. His impulse was to respond to her. To let her know that he was okay. The paralysis from the «Yellow Flower» crawled through his limbs, dulling every sensation, every attempt to move

She shivered, from fear…from the cold. Maybe from Mari’s presence herself. None were surprising for her. What was - was how the woman scrambled out from the safe confines of the plush blanket, falling forward into the snow to clutch at something. “What the-” Then, Mari realized what was happening. The wolf pack wasn’t just hunting the other woman. They had been tracking their prey. “Its just a-” Mari caught herself, biting her tongue. Mari didn’t really care about the creatures or NPCs of Aincard. They weren’t real. “It’s not real.” Mari said quietly. A terrible attempt to alleviate the

The two landed in a messy heap, with Alinta sprawled on top of Scar. Her weapon safely put away, the binds of her string no longer digging into his flesh, but his health had still trickled down, almost a quarter gone - her own, not much better. She groaned as she picked herself up. Her arm still hurts. “H-Help!” Her cries frantic, echoed loud and shrill above the hustle and bustle of the city center. “P-Please…someone!?” The few players that had seen her shuffled away. “Hello Don’t just-” Her head whipped back and forth, desperate, erratic. Wanting to gain someones attention. But no one seemed

For a long moment after he left she couldn't move. His jacket hung heavy on her shoulders- smelling faintly of smoke, liquor, and something sharp she couldnt quite name. It was far too big for her, the hem brushing her thighs, the weight of it pinning her to the moment. Her fingers clutched at the lapel unconsciously, like it might tether her to something solid while the world around her titled off its axis. The clubs lights pulsed below, rhythm synced to the frantic thrum in her chest. From her perch she caught flashes of him between the strobes- glimpses of a man transformed. He

Alice screamed, again and again and again. She didn’t want to go back. She wanted to stay. She wanted to stay here in her wonderland. “Jack and JIll went up ThE Hill. I’m AliCe. I’M ALICE! Oh Jack be NiMBle JaCk be Quick…” Craized whispers as Alice tried to hold onto who she was, tried to drown out a feeble crack in her newly varnished veneer - one that asked her if this was right, the small voice of Ceres that would ask if the insanity was worth it. This isn't who I am Then, came Tybalt - in a flurry of spun confetti and ebbing sanity he flourished in the field, a tip of his hat, a

The howling and snarling grew only more intense as the creatures stalked ever forward, assuming their prey would make a run for it and deliberately watching her movements in case Aeva bolted. Yet the girl could not bring herself to move at all. It wasn’t fear, or even the lingering effect of her paralysis, that kept her in place. It seemed to be something else entirely. Something at the base of the tree made it impossible for her to leave. Not that it would have mattered much in the end, regardless, Aeva was certainly in no condition to outrun a pack of ravenous canines even if she wanted to.

Shot after shot was thrown at Mari, and as quickly as they were slid over to her, she'd down them, sliding the empty glasses back toward Warren, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand. "Do that again next deal." She'd give it time to hit her, but that wouldn't be enough. Warren simply gave her a nod, agreeing to the new rules set into place. Mari watched as Abellio shared his cards with Oscar, oh. Oh. So it was men vs women? A little unfair, considering how many more layers the three men in front of Mari wore compared to them but Mari didn't voice it. She watched as Oscars eyes flic

He could see that Mari was getting flustered. Oscar was all too happy to oblige her request for alcohol. Or, at least, Warren was. Without skipping a beat, he produced a bottle of whiskey from his inventory and poured out three shots, sliding them across the granite countertop one after the other. "For the record, I didn't agree to any of this," Warren said. "But I'll play ball." Of course Warren would play it cool. Oscar, on the other hand, had seen at least two of the women opposite him naked. He was surprised, however, that Lysette was into this fiasco. He might have thought that

“I…appreciate that…” Mari said as Oscar extended the invite to Lancaster, and Mari considered it. Really truly considered it. “I am not sure he’d want to come. I want him to make more connections after…” Mari lifted her hand and rolled it. She wasn’t going to outright say why in front of Oscars guests. Still… Still… Mari opened up her HUD; and messaged Lancaster Mari→ Lancaster: Im still with Oscar. Being roped into playing Poker with his friends. Did you want to join? I Lancaster → Mari: Not for me Mia Amore. Is your friend. Take the night. I will be here. Just as s

Scar struggled… and it was against her own weapon ... .Alinta panicked as she pulled and tugged on the wires, trying to free him. But it only seemed to do more damage than good, they cut into his skin, static causing his flesh to twitch beneath it. “N-Not like this…” Alinta whimpered, she had wanted to show off her fancy new weapon to him…to show him she could and would be capable. But this… this was terrible. Was the system registering it as an attack? It was an accident! She was tripped! The strings were pulled around them, not by her, but by some kind of puppeteer who seemed to take pride i

"Sorry..." The sound was slightly low and shivery against his chest, but it went straight through the noise of the club like a knife. Jack stopped, her hand seemed to awaken every nerve on his body. He could feel the faint tremor in her voice against his shirt, her breath warm where her lips brushed the fabric. "I'm sorry. I have a... confession." His heart thudded once, twice, steady, deliberate, but he couldn't tell if it was anticipation or dread that made it beat so hard. The music had quieted to a dull pulse in the background, a rhythm that matched the tension hanging betwe

They had a moment to rest, so Luke slumped down and started to nap while the others kept watch. <This is a dream sequence> Something felt… unwell inside of Luke as he considered the situation he was in. It was like a switch had been flipped and he went from feeling completely fine to feeling like he was going to die inside. He started to sweat at his fingertips. He pictured everything he cherished in this world going up in flames. “This can’t be right,” he said to himself, “it has to be some kind of joke.” He actually managed to let out a smile as sweat dripped do

Another cup taps across the counter, as Vincent twists in his seat to get comfortable. Four glasses down and another slide of the glass beckons for another. "Just like home...." He remarked limply to his surroundings, watching like a wolf from the brush a pair of sharp red eyes with flecks of green almost too small to notice. Vincent was ravenous and hungry as he'd scan his wife as she'd move to the music, finding the tension to rise and accented with every ounce of alcohol. An allure that dwarfed the surroundings and gave him a sense of peace. Intoxicated by the light drawing her beauty into

The world swam in static. Sound bled before sight; laughter, high, mechanical, rattled like broken glass inside his skull. Jack's breathing came in wet stutters, every inhale dragging grit through his throat. The scent of acid and singed skin hung thick in the air, sharp enough to sting his nose. His body refused to obey him, legs heavy, arms bound by something unseen, but his mind clawed for purchase, anchoring to the only thing that still made sense. Her voice. "Scar?" The word trembled. Not from the field around him. From her. He knew that tone. He knew it. The gentle pa
