    Greetings players! Happy New Year and here are your SAO news! Since the last email we had 230 registered players, now we have 430 registered players. In just under one month's time we grew 200 new players and 0 spambot accounts!

    Some players have decided to join the staff personnel, Ryujin joins the Graphics team and creates some new avatars for players to pick, and Shark was promoted from GM to Admin recently.

    Speaking of avatars, as of this morning Erroneous has uploaded 93 new avatars for you to choose from in the avatar gallery! Don't forget Nevina is still running her custom avatar event where she will create you an avatar using our old sprite system.

    You may have noticed a few SAO characters randomly online, but you were unable to view their profile. That's because we renamed the webcrawlers like Google, Facebook, Yahoo, etc.. to have the names of the well known SAO cast and members you all know and love. To better immerse yourself in the world but to also do something with the names that nobody is allowed to use.

    Speaking of which, monsters are also potentially able to popup time to time in the same manner, but unlike known players, they will appear red instead of green. Which brings us to the next bit of updates. Previously only staff members had their names colored to separate them from players. However as you know the whole SAO-RPG site is built for immersion, and aside Akihiko who was the only staff in-game, so too does our staff appear as players in the game. Now names are colored based on Players, Player Killers, and Monsters. Players will appear green, player killers will appear orange, and monsters will appear red. As of right now, we have 5 player killers; Ryujin, Ruby, Nightshade, Zelrius, and Zauis.

    Also a new section was created for you to role-play in non-Sword Art Online and non-SAO-RPG roleplays. Here you can create whatever kind of role-play you wish, however keep in mind staff is not responsible for conductivity of the users in your role-plays, except where it goes against our community site rules.

    Every Sunday we at SAO-RPG gather on Skype and host a call for everyone to participate and be themselves, discussing their characters, the RP, and everyday shenanigans. We like to invite you to our Skype chat group where you may text with us on a daily basis from your computer, mobile phone, gaming device, or wherever Skype is accepted. But also optional, join us during our call on Sundays (times posted in the topic).

    And the last bit of news, the publishers of the SAO series had released a brand new recap episode of SAO season 1 with some new footage in between of Kirito visiting the school counselor and the girls practicing swimming at the school's pool. What this was actually led into the announcement of SAO season 2. In addition, a new SAO videogame was announced called Hallow Fragment.     Well, since I've had 0 submissions to the Avatar Submission announcement, I spent a good solid hour cropping and uploading random images into avatars with Adobe Photoshop. And in that hour I managed to provide all to you 93 options to choose from.

      [*:ut8l7opk]Change the drop down menu from AnimeSuki to Erroneous.
      [*:ut8l7opk]Hit GO.

  4. Player Killing Status

    So you want to be recognized as a player killer? It's easy as contacting an admin with a link to your slaughtering. A few key things to remember however.

    #1 - Self-defense does not count
    #2 - Killing floor NPC's (shopkeepers, etc..) doesn't count
    #3 - Killing PC's (fictional players that don't have accounts here) that aren't real does count
    #4 - Killing PC's that have real accounts must be agreed beforehand

    #5 - The Orange tag is gained after killing someone if you are the first person to land a hit on a Green player when it is not self defence

    After which, contact either me or Shark and we'll change your status from Player to Player Killer.

    This status is permanent, we will not switch you back.

    The only way to return to green status is by taking the redemption quest.

    I mean some players like myself were a little stressed about the "amount" of episodes ########### posted yesterday....I mean It's fine but it's unorganized. How do you expect to find one's post in that clutter? Just sayin...

    I agree......it wouldn't be too bad but it did go outta control...

    I was kinda hoping there would be more, and better.

    I thought it was just weird to hold a recap episode way so late in the Japanese and English dubs, but I guess you'd want to bring everyone back by going over the events that took place to prepare them for a second season.

    Will GMs have any special IC abilities?

    The GM's on the forum will not have the option to RP as a GM in the game as only Kayaba Akihiko was the only GM when SAO trapped it's players. The GM's here on the forum serve more as a content provider and role-playing post etiquette and rules enforcer.

    Are you still doing this or is it too late? Do you take spammers? I am active atleast :3

    After I received your application, I inquired with the GM's and most felt we have a decent number of GM's right now. But we'll hold onto your application and keep it under consideration if an opening becomes available.

    can we get other players to play the familiar for us when we summon them?

    At first I thought you meant another person create an account to be the familiar which wouldn't work as the accounts are tailored towards players not creatures.

    They are YOUR familiar. You have the control over what they do and don't do. Just try to keep it fair and don't go overboard and be too OP.

    But I like the way Shark worded that so that's that!
