      I though Its only up to +3 on each stats and its up to 6 items...

      You can carry 6 of any items, but equipped you can only have three. So say you have a sword, shield, helmet and chestpiece that all give stat boosts equipped. Only three of them would actually give you stat boosts. Refer to the post linked.
