Something for non shield users! There is now a sword art for each one handed weapon which requires martial arts rank 2 and a certain weapon skill level to execute, which attempt to somewhat alleviate the pitfalls of a weapon. These cannot be used with a shield.
Meteor Break and Meteor Fall are the canon ones that mix weapon with martial arts for those curious.

It requires both a weapon and unarmed, so if they had the right skill levels in both martial arts and their weapon skills, they could.

I am a little confused on the logistics of a sword art where you throw the sword since there used to be a huge RP debate about throwing weapons and how that constitutes what the follow up post action can do or if throwing the weapon would even allow the weapon to hit a target and do damage.

Because sword arts are automatically executed by the system. This is a cannon form of sword art as seen with <<Meteor burst>>
