  1. So staff can't retroactively enforce rules, except for when it benefits them in some way? Tristans actions in gaining those items and distributing them was not, in fact, against the rules. So please dont try to say that because it just makes you look like a hypocrite.

A true compromise leaves niether side happy, and having other players create vanity items to replace those items is unacceptable. That replacement "Blackfyre Cloak" was not Zelrius' cloak that he had in character. Neither would this vanity Commandants Pendant be. By replacing them with these fakes you would be taking Tristan's characters actions and making them completely out of character. His charcater doesnt seem like the sort to get fakes made of a friends items to give to others. Just making that side point.

Once again, retroactively enforcing a rule isnt something that staff should be able to do. And if they can, this isnt a place i'd want to be. If I wasnt trying so hard to point out the contradictory actions of the staff, or to make this point, i would suggest that only the items that the deceased had on would vanish. (Which would include the pendant) However, that would still require them to retroactively enforce a rule that they came up with quite a while after the fact.

Before anyone tries to say that this is just me trying to get a unique item, no matter the decision of staff, i wont be keeping the pendant.  Obviously if staff decides to continue retroactively enforcing this rule, i wont get it. But if they stop and I get it, ill be giving it away in order to keep people from trying to invalidate my argument by saying it's "greed".

P.S. I fully expect a reply here giving me an official warning, this status to be locked, and maybe even deleted. If so it will just prove to me that staff knows that what their doing is wrong and against their own rules and is choosing to ignore that.

P.P.S. That isnt a threat, just the statement of a fact.

In Tristan's own wording, the requirements for usage of the unwritten friend sharing inventory were: a) For the recipient to be listed in the donating player's journal, and b) For the items to be transferred to be listed in the journals are such. Also in Tristan's own wording, these two conditions cannot be met post-mortem. In that regard, staff wasn't "retroactively enforcing rules". Ssendom and Zelrius just simply didn't meet the requirements that Tristan had set in place after they both died.

In regards of actions taken in retrospect, staff corrects violations or mistreatment of the rules. In order to enforce the rules, we must be able to do so after the violation has been made. Given the situation, no rule was written, nor public knowledge at the time of the two PKs and Tristan, a member of staff at the time, amended the rules to which he acted upon. After seeing this done, staff called into question the legitimacy of the actions and as a consensus, ruled it as invalid for numerous reasons. This was not just done by staff, as the Player Representatives also provided their feedback.

As of the time of the PK, friendship inventory was not a functioning mechanic known to the general public nor included in the player guide. As such, the action of items being transferred to Tristan were invalid. The actions of Tristan trading said items were invalid. Lastly, the receipt and use of said items were also invalid.

I was confronted that the items were of value to particular players as "plot devices" for character advancement. I offered a compromise to this particular player in the form of identical vanity items to be written as desired by the player. If this was an unacceptable action to help players continue their stories as desired, I personally apologize. However, the ruling of Friendship Inventory is final and any actions that utilized this unwritten mechanic are also invalid as are any infractions.
