  2. "Ah! Welcome back, Seul," Shield said with an incline of his head. "Not a problem. It's exactly this sort of thing for which I named my business. Let's see if we can find you a miracle." Shield swept around to the front of his desk and picked out a handful of swihanders, setting them one at a time on the counter for inspection before returning to his work station. He took his seat and pinched his jeweler's loupe in place with the meat of his cheek and top of his eye socket before beginning on his appraisals. "Hmm..." he said aloud, setting aside one sword after another. As he ma

  4. After a break, Shield returned his trusty jeweler's loupe to his eye, inspecting several of his long swords in hopes of discovering something that would catch his customer's interest. One after another, he uncovered mundane enhancements. A few had the ability to paralyze opponents, one had increased accuracy, and a few even had higher damage than the average sword, but nothing stood out to him as unique. He sighed, setting aside his jeweler's loupe. "I'm going to rest my eyes for a while longer and see to some other customers," he said apologetically. "I'll keep looking and let you know i

  6. Shield handed @Atzo his sword back. "Sorry there wasn't anything else of interest on it," he said. "I looked, but it's locked up tight. Stop in soon though. And let me know if you get a shop of your own! Good business people scratch each others' backs." With a parting wave, he turned back to @Beatbox and his requested appraisals. While the sword appeared to have a couple of simple enhancements on it, it was not quite a perfect item. It locked after the damage and accuracy enhancements revealed themselves and refused to yield and further results. He turned next to his stock of de

  8. [+ Imperial Toreador's Cape] Shield nodded, graciously accepting the item. He tried it on, equipping it through his menu. With a whirl of fabric, a deep crimson cape appeared on his frame, billowing slightly as the item settled into place. "Very nice work," he praised, examining it as best he could while it was still on his back. Out of his view, emblazoned on the back was the radiant sun of the Celestial Ascendants proudly displaying his guild affiliation. He gave a nod of approval before turning back to Aereth. "Well, if we are partnered again, I'll get the chance to ear
  9. Reading through the information for the upcoming event, Shield began to do his research. He knew there had to be tailors around, but for the life of him, if he knew one, he wasn't aware. He had never needed tailoring done, but he was sure his research would turn up something. "Let's see," he said to himself as he combed through the in game shop registry. "If I search for the members of the Celestial Ascendants, that's likely my best bet. I suppose any was is as good as another, so let's go alphabetical. Aeret-" He paused, having seemingly found a tailor on his first try. "...huh

"Sure thing, buddy. Looks like it just locked though," he said with an apologetic shrug. "I was hoping to find something else of use, but no good." He let go of the armor, accepting the Col transfer before returning to his post and putting away his scale, lucky coin, and jeweler's loupe. He had seen a bit of a dry spell in the shop, but he suspected that was likely due to

  13. Shield waved in greeting as he recognized @Atzo, taking a moment to look at the blade that he placed on the counter. "Alright," he said, pulling out his jeweler's loupe and examining the item. "No promises on finding anything special, but we'll see what we can find." Before he could truly begin, however, @Beatbox joined the other two, plopping down no small amount of Col and materials as well as an item to appraise. "Well," Shield said, cracking his knuckles, "If you two don't mind, I think I'll go ahead and make the most effective use of my crafting ability for the day." H
  14. [+Nemean Fur] Shield nodded as he recognized Hikoru. This was the first time that he had seen the young man since the dance, despite having some brief messages with a few of the other paladins and higher-ups of the Celestial Ascendants. It was nice having an interaction with him that didn't start with the paladin trying to sneak up on him. "Take care," he called out to the sneak's retreating back, realizing there wouldn't be time for a proper thank you. He stored the item, leaving his menu open to send out a second message, this time asking if anyone was interested in attempting
  15. Shield glanced up from his work station when he heard the door, setting aside is jeweler's loupe and standing to greet the potential customer. The face was vaguely familiar, and in the time the man spent locating an item, he scanned his memory. I think I know where I've seen him but- He stopped mid thought as the familiar newcomer pointed to the Pike. Letting out a slightly sad sigh, he opened the display case to take out the item in question. He nodded in appreciation of the kind words. "Well, you certainly didn't waste any time finding the best of my stock," Shield said, holdi
  16. Shield accepted the transfer, passing the crystal back across the counter to @Beat. He held the younger man's gaze, knowing full well the reason he was buying the crystal. He had been preparing just as feverishly for the upcoming fight, with only a matter of minutes to spare before they needed to gather. "For your sake, yes, let's hope you need it," he agreed, not letting his hand off of the crystal just yet. "But more importantly, when you need it, let's also hope you're not too proud or too stubborn to admit it." Slowly, he let his hand off of the item before turning back to his wo
  17. Shield rummaged around behind his counter, checking the in-game time and cursing under his breath. Only a handful of hours left before the big boss battle. He fished out a potion from his stock and set it down, knocking it over on the counter. If not for the stopper, the contents would have been lost. Still, he hurriedly righted the bottle with a shaking hand. His left hand gripped the right, trying to force them to steady one another. Settle down! You've fought countless bosses before in other games! Just focus, and gear yourself appropriately! Nothing else you can do, right? W
  18. Shield glanced over at the newcomer and listened to his request, giving a short but courteous nod with his shaggy head. "Not a problem," he answered, turning to the shelf beside his station and lifting down the blue, rectangular prism. He passed the item across the counter to the player, accepting the Col in exchange. "And nice to meet you, @Khrysaor. You can call me Shield. Let me know if you need anything else, alright?" he added, touching his fingers to his eyebrow in an informal salute. "Mind if I ask what your profession is? It's in a merchant's best interest to know the pe
  19. Shield accepted the transfer, giving Beat a nod. It was odd saying goodbye to the first item he had bought, but he had a feeling he'd be seeing it around. Then again, as he thought about it, he had already traded away his first loot item as well. Guess I'll chock this one up to another 'circle of life' thing or something like that. He checked his cash total, doing some quick math in his head. "Hey, Beat," he said, holding out his hand to stop his travel companion before he left. "Hold onto your extra cash. We might not be all that far from being able to buy a house, if we're sma

  21. His arms laden with new tier two equipment, Shield plopped himself down at his work bench, setting each down carefully before taking out his trusty loupe. Unfortunately, despite having a lucky charm nearby to aid in his crafting, today would hardly be his lucky day. One at a time, the new stock began to lock up on him, the only actual enhancement revealing itself was a single slot of Heavy Momentum on one set of the Thorned Gauntlets. "Oh for crying out- What is going on the last few days?" he fumed, tossing the uncommon items into a bin. "Did I suddenly forget how to appraise or somethin
  22. Shield nodded and set up the transfer for the items, tapping through his menus until a dialog box appeared in front of @Macradon. [Shield would like to give you 3600 Col.] [O Accept - X Decline] "I had a feeling you wouldn't mind," the aspiring tank said with a little smile. "An Uncommon tier two usually provides the same amount of benefit as a tier one Rare, only with a more valuable starting material. I feel like on the rare occasion someone would need so little from an item, they would tend to order the latter, leaving you with a rather expensive collection of investments tha
  23. Having exhausted the items that Ariel had brought him, Shield turned with a sigh to his own basic, tier one stock. There was a rack of weaponized gauntlets that he had not had the opportunity to go through before now, but for the sake of diligence, he set about the task. While the examinations were slow, he did manage to find single enhancements on a couple of the items before they locked. Hmm... One with a slot of Regen and one with a slot of Keen. Neither really stands out as much of anything special. Most likely, I'll have to sell them at low prices to starting characters. He set
  24. The front door to The Blazing Typhoon opened and in walked a much more advanced Shield than had set foot in the doors of the forge several weeks before. He raised a hand in greeting of the shop keep. "Been a little while," he said with an air of levity. "Just your friendly neighborhood merchant stopping in again to see if there's anything worth appraising. You don't mind if I look around, do you?" He paced along the displays, checking the specs of various items to see if anything caught his eye. "One of the last pieces I picked up did pretty well for me," he said conversationall
  25. The next batch that Shield set himself to review was one disappointment after another. Four consecutive items locked themselves as soon as he so much looked at them. He was beginning to wonder if he should stop altogether and resume another time, but after checking the suit of armor that had the Recovery enhancement from earlier, his luck turned around, at least to some extent. What's this? Damage Mitigation? That's never a bad thing to find on a suit of armor. What else does this little treasure hide? After inspecting for a few more moments, the golden exclamation mark announced the
