Cosi

Cosi nodded and followed Mars. "Alright, let's head up to the twenty first floor and I'll try not to get myself killed. And that sounds good, we'll split the col, you get the mats and I'll take the unidentified items." Cosi nodded again. Besides I really need the experience and, while mats are nice to have, as a merchant I need Col a lot more. Besides I can always go gathering another time. Cosi waited as mars teleported up to their destination and then followed suit, walking up to the teleporter arch and then heading off to the twenty first floor.

Like usual when Cosi stepped out into the twenty first floor he was greeted not by the warm light of the sun but instead by the vibrant light of the phosphorescent plants that grew on the twenty first floor. Cosi caught up with his companion and motioned for the martial artist to follow him, "Its this way. Hopefully I'll be able to find it. I've only been a couple of times."

Cosi hadn't realized how far he'd come. Personally that is. He could now just waltz and take on Avalanche with out taking a single hit when last time he had called on Mars to help him because he'd knew it would be hard for him. Cosi grinned and slowly advanced on the ice elemental. Hopefully with one more good punch Frosty will be dead and then I can go kill some monsters and grind out my levels. Cosi breathed in and activated a sword art. Again his gauntleted fists were cloaked in white blue light and Cosi leapt at Avalanche and swung his fist decking the mob right in its mouth. Chunks of ice, rock, and snow were thrown from the elemental and it bellowed in pain. Cosi tucked and rolled as he hit the ground, coming to his feet after hitting the snow. Cosi looked back to see the ice elemental stumbling around but still standing. Avalanche only had the barest sliver of health left.

Finally in complete control of his body again, Cosi charged ahead towards the final Zombie. It seems that Hazard isn't doing too good. I guess I will cover for him. Hestia took care of the banshee so that means we've only got this last skeleton guardian left. Cosi readied a sword art and Inbrunst began to glow a emerald green. Cosi took a deep breath as he swung his war hammer in a powerful sweep, light particles cascading from the two handed weapon. The heavy hammer head smashed into the remaining zombie, denting metal, shattering bone, and leaving the skeleton with more red spiderwebs covering its form. The mob stumbled backwards from the blow and Cosi watched as its health dropped into the red. Cosi grinned and jumped back to avoid any retaliation. The blonde haired tank shouted at Hazado trying to galvanize him into action, "Now Hazard! Finish him!"

Cosi didn't know how to respond. Pin hadn't had an orange cursor the last time he had seen the spear user and the only way you could get one of those was by attacking another player. Cosi's hands fidgeted. He wanted to reach for his hammer, but Cosi stopped himself. Let's see what he has to say first. Cosi apologized to the player that had bumped into him and took a single step forward. "Hey Pinball. Long time no see. Seem's like a lot's happened since I last saw you mate." Cosi tried to relax but it was a little difficult. Orange players were usually player killers and Pinball was much higher level then himself. Cosi clenched and unclenched his hands before deciding to pull up a chair from another table and sit across from Pinball. "Care to enlighten me Pin?" Cosi leaned his arms against the table and then as nonchalantly and unthreateningly as possible he opened his menu and unequipped his war hammer. Some steel gauntlets appeared on his hands.

For the second time in his life in this death game Cosi found himself on the fifth floor for no reason in mind. The blonde haired player was just there. He was in the main city of Fortaleza just wandering around. His white cloak and cyan-blue scarf flapped in the building wind. Ladon was nestled around Cosi's neck beneath the pure white cloak and Cosi's war hammer Inbrunst was strapped to his back. As the wind continued to pick up, picking up sand with it, Cosi decided he better get inside and so he headed towards the nearest building and ducked inside. It was a run down and seedy looking tavern but still it was shelter. Cosi moved over to the bar and sat down on a stool. He didn't order anything. Instead he looked around the bar. It was relatively empty except for NPCs and one player in a corner booth. Cosi peered harder at the player. He recognized them. It was Pinball. A grin spread on Cosi's face- it had been awhile since he had seen the spear user- and the blonde got up and moved over to the other player.

Cosi was about five feet from the booth when something stopped him. Pin's crystal was orange...

Cosi charged the massive ice elemental again, weaving between its failing strikes. He felt so quick with just his cloak on. Nothing could touch him. I wonder if this is what Mars feels like whenever he's fighting? Cosi got in close and threw two quick punches at the large ice elemental. One hit the golem in the leg and the other connected with Avalanche's torso but both punches landed solidly. Avalanche stumbled backwards at the force of the blows and tried to stay upright. He swung one of his massive arms at Cosi- mostly to force the attacking player back- but the blonde player managed to easily dodge the attack. Cosi jumped back at regarded the mob. Avalanche's health was far into the yellow now and it would only take one or two good hits to finish off the field boss. "Let's finish this Frosty." Cosi pounded his gauntlets together and advanced.

As soon as Cosi entered the chasm he heard the loud bellow that sounded a tad like icicles falling that was of course the hidden ice elemental boss, Avalanche. The massive ice golem broke free from the multitude of ice spires and snow covered rocks and strode forward to meet the blonde player. Cosi didn't give him the time. The white blonde tank charged forward and without the heavy half plate he moved faster then he had ever been able to. His fists glowed with a blinding white blue light as he activated a sword art. Cosi reached the mob but instead of decking the ice golem, he bounded up the creature's leg and torso. Cosi laughed as he hovered in the air for a split second before lashing out and smashing his gauntleted fist into Avalanche's face. Ice shattered and the elemental bellowed in pain and rage. Cosi fell back to earth, landing in a crouched position, the rolling away as a massive rock fist came down where he had just been. "You'll have to be faster then that Frosty." 

Cosi grinned, Pinball seemed a little distracted maybe even impatient, but the blonde haired player just kept talking. He wasn't trying to be rude. It was just nice to see a familiar face and he wanted to get to know Pinball better. "Its a quest on floor five I believe. The survival one or something that gets you a new skill. Mars said there wouldn't be any fighting but that it would be hard all the same. Besides its in the desert and I hate the desert." Cosi shuddered slightly at the thought of the hot sandy floor then he waved it off and looked back to Pinball, "So what are you doing? I don't mean to pry. I'm just wondering?" Cosi waited for the spear user's response looking around as he did so just watching the passing players and NPCs and also taking glances at Pinball's interesting pet shadow cat.

As soon as the banshee stopped screaming Cosi felt his body and limbs unlock and vigor return to them. The blonde haired got his feet shakily, picking up Inbrunst as he did so. Cosi gave a couple labored breaths then charged towards the last undead guardian standing. Cosi hefted his war hammer, breathed in deeply, and then swung it in an overhead arc. The blonde player felt the reinforced wood slide through his hand and felt the weapon shiver as it collided with the zombie's shoulder, as metal bent, and bone cracked. Cosi then turned towards the Banshee and tried to attack the spectral maiden but the mob proved too difficult to hit. Cosi retreated a couple steps to stand by Hestia and Hazado as they too shook of their paralysis and stood up. "Alright. Haz finish off the zombie and then we can focus on the banshee. Hestia probably draw aggro so us little guys can attack freely and yeah. We had some bad luck but now its our turn to hit hard."

Once Cosi had received Hei's message he briskly made his way to The Hanger to collect his orders. The platinum blonde haired player entered The Hanger and gave a jovial wave to Hei. "Nice to see you again Hei!" Cosi picked up both of his orders and gave them a quick inspection. They both looked exactly the way he had wanted them but only use would show if they worked the way he wanted. Still I'm sure Hei did a perfect job. "Thay both look great. Thank you mate. Feel free to call me up whenever you want to go gathering again or if you have a quest in mind." Cosi shot the tailor a friend request and dropped off his Col payment before waving goodbye and heading back to his home on floor four.

As Dustin and Katagawa charged giant bats and dealt significant damage to their targets, Cosi charged ahead and tried to impale one of the mobs with his sword. Alas the bats were quite mobile and the darkness didn't help in that regard either. Cosi missed the monster and then it retaliated by sinking its fangs into his exposed flesh. Cosi ripped the bat from him and threw the thing against the cavern wall. The other bats swarmed Cosi's companions, biting and flapping their wings. Dustin was able to avoid his but one on katagawa managed to get a good bite in on the two handed sword wielder. Still after the attacks and Cosi's thorn damage all of the giant bats wounded. It probably won't take too much longer to kill these things- maybe three more hits- and then we can find the girl, Cosi thought as he readied another sword art

Cosi shrugged and nodded at Shield's statement and display of acrobatics, "Fair enough." Cosi then followed suite and changed out his gear, switching out his armor and his clasp for his ring and the bracelet he was borrowing from Shield. I wonder when he wants this back. He said I could use it as long as I gave it back... "Shield, Do you want your bracelet back? I've got enough Col and mats that I could get one of my own. Also, what exactly does Prosperity do?" Cosi followed Shield as the two of them back tracked there way out of the mines and all the while Cosi watched the green gem on his ring to see if it would glint. Hopefully we do get a chest that will make this trip worthwhile. Not that this hasn't been great. We did a quick quest and then fought a rock man forever. 

Cosi sat on a stone fence just outside Urbus, the second floor's main city, scratching the green head of the large boa coiled around his neck, and waited for Katagawa. Ladon was asleep of course and Cosi's new hammer, Inbrunst, rested against the stone wall its reinforced handle well within reach. I wonder how Kat's doing? Hopefully good. It has been a while. The platinum blonde looked down the road to see a lone figure approaching. They weren't too familiar until they had gotten closer. It was definitely Katagawa though she looked a little different. She changed her hair. It was shorter and a silver white color. Cosi shrugged, stood up, grabbed his hammer, and gave Katagawa a friendly wave. "Kat! How's it going?" Cosi moved towards his friend. He looked complete different. Not only did he have a giant snake around his neck and a two handed war hammer but gone was the kite shield and the heavy half plate. Instead he had simple steel sabatons, minimalist leather armor beneath a grey cloak that was clasped with a rough hew diamond shaped like an eye.

Cosi turned to see Hazado charge into battle, swinging his glaive like it was nothing. The tank felled four of the undead guards leaving just two zombiesand the banshee left. Cosi gave a lopsided grin and shouted to his companion, "Nice going Haz! Now let's finish these last ones of-" Cosi's call was cut off as a zombie charged into him his clawed nails digging into skin and his rusty blade sinking into the blonde player's gut. Cosi heard a shrill whine and watched his health take a hit. No sooner had the skeleton begun mauling him then Cosi heard a horrible keening sound as the Banshee began to wail. Even as the blonde's hands went to cover his ears he felt his body seize and convulse. Cosi went down, his fingers clawed in unnatural positions, his body spasming. His hammer clattered to the ground and his one thought was, Well. This doesn't look so good.

Log Entry XX (yes I know I haven't counted them yet and yes i'm still going to do this)

I realize that I haven't seen Katagawa in a long while- I guess I have been doing a lot of quests with Mars and Shield up on the higher floors- so I decided to shoot her a message and go meet up with her. We did a couple quests and all in all it was great to be able to catch up with her.

Cosi waited just outside the main settlement on the second floor. There was a quest on this floor that apparently had a good sp reward that he had yet to do and since he was grinding for levels he decided to do it. Also he was waiting for a friend. He hadn't seen that blonde in a while- Guess I've been too busy questing with Mars and Shield- and he knid of felt bad about that. She had been the first player he had met in SAO and she had been the one to do the tutorial quests with him. I hope Kat doesn't hate me for leaving her in the dust.

As the golem was finally defeated by Shield's thorns Cosi couldn't help but plant Inbrunst on the ground and slump on the handle. Shield had fallen to the ground after the golem had exploded into light particles and from his prone position he started talking. Cosi nodded wearily at Shield's statement. That had been exhausting and nearly unbearably long. Cosi had been able to deal a damage to the monster of course but not nearly enough as what would be required of him when he reached the front lines. He still needed to grind out more sp. Cosi nodded some more and then rose from his lax position. He strapped Inbrunst onto his back and then made his way over to Shield. Cosi extended a hand to help his companion up. "Glad that's finally over. Looks like I've got a whole lot more leveling to do if that was just a taste of what the front lines will be like. So what shall we do now?"

Once Hestia had found the secret entrance to the banshee's lair, the blonde haired tank led the way, and went inside. There was a short stone staircase down and the air quickly became cold. Cold enough that Cosi could see his breath. Once in the actual lair the stench of decay hit Cosi. He held back a gag and then began to press forward but just as he did a scream echoed throughout out the chamber and then Cosi saw the banshee. The undead creature floated not too far away her torn white dress and stringy black hair billowing in a nonexistent breeze. Cosi cringed at the sound but advanced all the same. Then the ground erupted beneath his feet and he was forced to scrambled back as six skeletal zombies armed with rusty swords, and armored in old chain mail clawed their way to the surface. "You didn't tell me there were zombies as well!" Cosi shouted back to Haz and Hesita but all the same he charged them. Cosi breathed deeply and activated his aoe sword art. Inbrunst's head glowed with a green light and Cosi let the game system direct his movements. His first swing caught the nearest zombie in the chest, smashing into its dilapidated armor. Cosi then spun on his heel hitting another one it is leg. As those two skeletons stumbled Cosi charged the other four. With one massive sweep of his hammer Cosi hit three of them. One of the zombies sidestepped the attack but another took the full force of the attack to its head. The skull splintered leaving red cracks in it and comically spun around on the mob's spine till it slowed to a stop slightly off center. Cosi stepped back, a massive grin on his face even as he breathed a little heavily. "Your turn Haz. Get these undead idiots."

Time for some more Identification. Cosi pulled out the item- it looked like a consumable- that he had gotten when fishing with Hei, sat down at his work bench, and set to work on cleaning it up. The blonde haired merchant painstakingly brushed away clay and grime with a wire brush, switching to a file when the deposits of minerals were too tough. After a couple minutes Cosi was left with a stoppered glass vial containing a plum colored liquid. Cosi gave a small shrug. He had Identified a couple of these consumables before. They were good if you were willing to sacrifice armor for more damage. Cosi stood up and put it with the other consumables he had identified.

Cosi nods at Mars' offer, "Sounds good, I can always use more mats and Col and while I'll need tier 2 stuff soonish having some tier 3 gear is never a bad thing. Fishing is great for getting loot and materials and mobs usually drop some good loot if you're lucky enough. Which floor do we want to head off to? There's a good fishing spot up on the 21st floor but there's not too many mobs to fight in that area. so I guess its up to you mate." Cosi gestured back to Mars and followed the black clothed martial artist back to the teleporter in the main city. The seventh floor was a quite normal floor actually. It was just wind swept plains dotted with gnarled trees with massive red rock mountain ranges near and far. Cosi still preferred his home floor, floor four. Snow is much better than wind or rain and its especially better than sand and heat. A random thought came to the blonde player and he turned back to Mars, "Also if we find any gear I'll be able to identify it. Heck I'll do it for free since at this point I just need the experience and not the col. Plus you're my friend."

Cosi follows his black clad friend as he heads off deeper into the rocky wastes. "Well I've got the survival skill we did that awful quest for. The one skill- concentration- that you get from killing your double. That one was terrifying. I've also got fishing and search and detect as well- those are mostly for gathering and finding stuff obviously- and then I've got my familiar skill as well." Cosi gave Mars a grin as he pointed to the fairly large emerald snake coiled around the blonde like a massive scarf. Cosi continued walking alongside his companion until he remembered that he was forgetting. Cosi gave a chuckle, "Oh, I forgot one. I also picked up martial arts. I have you to thank for interesting me in that one." The blonde haired tank gave Mars a light jab in the shoulder before grinned lopsidedly and putting his hands behind his head. "Its not much use to my build at the moment but i figured that later when I'm higher level- probably much higher- the damage that comes with it will come in handy. no pun intended there."

The platinum blonde haired player nods in agreement. One hand still trails along the wall, his questing fingers searching for anything that feels off, as he continues to walk down the prison hallway. "Maybe the Banshee will come to us? Might make it a little easier than trying to find a secret way to it." Cosi grinned uneasily, clearly not enthralled with the idea. Having a screaming undead elven maiden sneak up on him was definitely something he did not what to happen. Cosi started slightly at the scraping sound of the pushed chair. He gave a soft chuckle trying to laugh off the sense of dread he began to feel. "Don't worry Haz. I doubt its coming to us and even if it did we're not push overs, especially Hestia." Cosi grinned a mush warming grin and clapped his fellow tank on the shoulder. The blonde glanced over to Hestia, "Is there anything else besides the banshee here that we should keep an eye out for?"

Again a massive splintering sound echoed through the mines as the remainder of the crystalline golem's legs shatter and for the second time in the fight the golem face plants. The cavern shakes and dust cascades from the ceiling. Cosi gives a small cough and turns to his dark haired companion, "Yeah today is just not your lucky day. Though I guess I can take some of the blame for that. I was the one who started going for the golem's legs." Cosi gave Shield an apologetic shrug and then briskly walked over to the collapsed rock monster as it struggled to push itself up. Cosi stood right by its head raised his hammer and then with a yell brought the heavy hammer head down on the mob. The quartz golem was slammed back into the ground from the force of the blow. After begin rejuvenated by Shield orb of energy Cosi rushed back into battle, running straight for the gimp quartz golem. Its only two good hits away from death. One of mine and then one of its after it hits Shield. Cosi got within in striking distance and then released a flurry of swings, trying to get the unstable mob to fall. One hit landed across what was left of the monster's leg, shattering more rock and quartz, and the second swing hit it full in the chest, leaving a large red crack in the thing's torso. The golem continued to creak and groan and more bits of it fell off to shatter into light. Cosi retreated a couple steps and turned to his companion, "You're up Shield. Finish this mob off." Cosi knew the fight was practically over but still he kept inbrunst out just in case the golem missed and Cosi was needed to continue attacking.

It seemed that the platinum blonde haired player wasn't having any luck at catching fish so Cosi decided to look around for a treasure chest in the surrounding area. He stood up, returned his fishing pole to his inventory, and began walking around, his hands deep in his pockets. The tank player's eyes scanned his surroundings while also keeping an eye on his dragon shaped ring and its green jewel. After a couple more minutes of walking, the emerald sparkled. Cosi stopped in his tracks then moved tentatively about till the crystal sparkled again. The blonde haired player smiled. Looks like there is a chest nearby. After a few more minutes of searching Cosi fought the chest half buried in the earth and began digging it out with his hands. He paused to turn to Hie and call to him, "Hei! Come give me a hand with this chest I found!"
