One, unlike the rest, was lit up by the glow of a lantern. Figures twisted impossibly through cracks in walls, peering inside with insectoid eyes. They spied on their prey, a blonde man clad in red, and hoped

Impressed with Samantha's initiative, Morningstar took a moment before engaging. The girl, a player who had not even passed level one, was going toe to toe with a bat that nearly doubled her in size. Realistically, there was no way she would last long without him intervening--still, it was sight to behold. She took a chunk out of the bat, who was flailing about in the air, primed to attack. Morningstar decided to move; an angry bat was his queue to jump into the fray. He moved quickly through the dark using his night vision to find the clearest path forward. He lunged at the bat, which ho

Leaders had offices, he thought, and so he had one built. There were a few others throughout the guildhall, predominantly unused aside from the Treasury Room upstairs. Truthfully, he could have done his work anywhere. Even more truthful—he was growing tired of his wor

[BR-F28] Paving the Way to Floor 29 [Team 3: Alkor]
Morningstar replied to Plot Master's topic in The Frontlines
Morningstar sunk into relief as the boss crumpled to the ground. He folded over, staring at his battered reflection in the red ocean. His breaths were heavy. He was exhausted. Around him, some players celebrated. Others fell to their knees, overtaken by emotion. A few simply left. Astralin was among the third group, disappearing with a cryptic explanation. He hoped she was okay. He took his share of the spoils. They were items of a variety he had never seen before. The world was changing, and he wasn't sure it was for the better. The path to Floor 29 opened, a grand staircase no -
[OP-F29] Ope wide the gates! (Post Raid Thread)
Morningstar replied to Baldur's topic in Intermediate Floors
They'd won—and without cost. Morningstar bumped Koga on the shoulder, wasting no time as he sped toward the grand staircase leading to the next floor. Clear of expectations, he trailed behind his colleagues, each and every one desperate to see the reward they had fought so hard to obtain. The unending slog that none of the present party wished for, and yet all of them had signed up for, offered few gifts in return. The items they received were of undeniable value. Even more exciting was the thought of open access to a new zone. In return for overcoming one arduous challenge, they were gra -
[BR-F28] Paving the Way to Floor 29 [Team 3: Alkor]
Morningstar replied to Plot Master's topic in The Frontlines
Through Astralin's nonsensical muttering, Morningstar overheard Koga calling for his attention. He looked worse for wear, but in spite of Callisto's bombardment of attacks, he was alive. Switching the team's tank with a DPS was an unusual request; however, given their situation, Morningstar thought it made sense. "Alright. Let's do it. I'll buy some time." They took turns striking the bear, an acknowledgement to the system that they intended on swapping hate values. It obliged, and Morningstar became Callisto's focus. "Finally, she looks my way." A hand gripped Koga's armor, pul -

Morningstar replied to Acanthus's topic in Intermediate Floors
"So, you've got the guts to show your face 'round here again, do ya?" A short, bearded fellow crossed his arms, scowling at Morningstar from behind a stall. Various odds and ends were held up by wooden shelves and sprawled out across every other surface imaginable. A vial of Watcher's Extract caught his eye. Nobody had purchased it in the days that had passed—probably due to its ridiculous price. "12,000 col. That's my final offer; take it or leave it," Morningstar leaned against the counter. "Bloody brains of a human, you got! I told you once and I'll tell you again—I only deal -

[BR-F28] Paving the Way to Floor 29 [Team 3: Alkor]
Morningstar replied to Plot Master's topic in The Frontlines
Oh shit, Freyd lived. Morningstar wiped away his pooling tears and went back to whacking. Callisto re-used Addled Memory, and damned voices tormented the frontlines once more. Star kept in range of the bear, mindlessly slashing as often as he could, his thoughts overpowered. He used offense as his defense, weaving in and out of the bear's range on instinct alone, poised to deal as much damage as humanly possible. The bear swept at Koga, their primary tank substitute, narrowly missing Morningstar in the process. It happened frequently, and was bound to continue for as long as the swordsman -
