  1. "I've actually never made it this far," Morningstar admitted. The last time he had attempted the quest, he chose to stop after defeating the soldier in the woods. Between sentences, he scuffled with soldiers. "Just pretend like this is fun," he told Acanthus. He grimaced as a pitchfork-wielding villager was cut through and quickly moved to shut down the attacker. An onslaught of soldiers charged the town, prepared to lay down their lives for the sake of destruction. Morningstar struck the closest of three before rotating to stop the next. They battled, trading quick and precise blows befo
  2. Freyd made miracles out of hopeless situations. His true unique skill was not deceit or disguises—it was influence. He made people want to follow him no matter the circumstances. At least, that was the effect he had on Morningstar. If asked to describe him, Star would say that Freyd was his mentor; his captain; his friend. He was the strongest, Star was sure—capable of challenging Cardinal itself if push came to shove. To see him fall hurt in ways that Morningstar had forgotten. Emotions plunged deep into the back of his mind, repressed for all time, crawled their way back up to the surfa
  3. The second bat lingered in the back of Morningstar's mind. He had completed the quest enough times to know when it would appear. They would find Koko and as soon as they tried to escape the cave, it would swoop in and strike. He needed to keep one eye on the kid and another on Scarlet Firefly. His partner admitted to her mistake; however, Morningstar wasn't sure she was wrong in the first place. He peeked around rocks and inside child-sized crevices until eventually, a little girl's gaze met his. Star whispered to her reassuringly and scooped Koko up from her hiding spot. "Found her," he
  4. "Hi, Eliseris. She's good--somewhere in Ronbaru still, I think." Acanthus' compliment was appreciated. He wore a style that he was not used to, and until then hadn't been sure of it himself. "Thank you. There's a stall in town for the festival. You should take a look." He nodded in response to her invitation. He was more than happy to help with a quest, and had been meaning to take this one regardless. "Srona it is, then." Horseback was the easiest way to travel between the cities. Lucky for them, Ashvini's Stable was setup for the event and her rental mounts were free of cost u
  5. Morningstar cut through vines and flesh, reeling at the sight of the evolving bear. A second stage--who would have thought? Callisto towered above the raid party. Nature joined its side, vines and thorns coming to it as if they were one. The beast had chosen new weapons. The raiders persevered, continuing their strain of attacks despite the effects of the lair action. The combined efforts of Team 3 dispelled the plants, making space for Morningstar to attack. He charged forward relentlessly, his blade gleaming as it caught the dim light of the boss room. Callisto roared, the sound reverbe
  6. working on this but i am currently dying so it might be last second
  7. "Keep his attention as long as you can! I think I have an idea!" From up front, Morningstar raised an eyebrow. He agreed, unsure of what idea Katoka could possibly have come up with. Star dipped in and out of the bear's range, occasionally clipping it with quick swipes of his sword. He angled his posture in the exact way the system required him to, bringing his sword up high and charging an ethereal sword art. The edge of his blade burned gold as he swung it down, ripping into the bear's flesh. Time was apparently needed, and so he would buy it for as long as he could, until Kat was ready
  8. Morningstar huffed, grappled to the bear. Callisto targeted the tanks, but it was so big that he found himself dodging regardless. He was built for it, at least. A gust of hot wind blasted him in the face, a side effect of the boss’ heavy swings. He only took a second to breathe before rushing back in. His party was holding up well enough, considering circumstances. Even after Callisto’s maddening roar, they had taken no concerning damage. The golden glow that enveloped Morningstar’s sword suddenly burned black. It bit through the beast’s tough hide, carving a deep red line. A reacti
  9. He failed to free Alkor, unable to reach him in time. As he continued to wail on the beast's leg, Oscar swooped in. Together, he and his familiar pulled their tank out of Callisto's clutches. A wave of relief washed over Star. A golden glow expanded around his blade, exploding as it crashed into his foe once more. Just keep attacking. That's my role. His eyes shot left. Groups of people charged towards the raid parties, wispy like smoke. The bear roared once more, and this time Morningstar felt its power. Pain echoed through him, blurring his vision, crippling him. He stumbled, clutching
  10. "Mister Not-A-Rock!" He stared blankly for a moment, trying to piece together whether it was an insult or not. "Oh! You!" What was her name? An-something, An-something. Andromelith. Andropal. Androlese. Let's just stick with An. He nudged Willow. "She saved me from the maze." Willow snorted. "Only he'd forget teleport crystals and chalk. Glad you ran into him," she smiled. The conversation turned in a hundred and one directions. Willow introduced herself to Colette, who had finished fawning over Morningstar. An announced her love for digging holes. Wulfrin, for so
  11. Their attacks were futile. The beast didn't acknowledge them, aside from one. Alkor wrestled with Callisto, stuck in its iron bite. Star swore, and despite the boss' hellbent ignorance, he chased after them. Alkor was their tank. He was built to be in positions like this. Not in the mouth of a bear, mind you; but, in imminent danger. Grizzly teeth and a few puncture holes wouldn't be enough to kill the man. And yet, Morningstar found himself fearful. Another party had already been chunked by the boss. Who specifically, he wasn't sure. He hadn't seen the attack--no, there hadn't been
