  1. Star ripped through the body of a snow soldier, but when it crumpled to the ground, mangled, his attention was elsewhere. Acanthus was surprisingly agile, moving in and stunning a handful of the closest wave. "Yeah, split up. Keep them away from the walls as much as you can. The villagers probably won't be able to help much. We're sort of on our own." He tore left, darting around an impaled villager and crashing into the soldier that dealt the blow. He twirled his blade, slicing through the soldier's forearm and then again across his chest. Another tried creeping up from behind, but the c
  2. Star smiled. Firefly was a natural. "R-really? Thank you! Thank you so much, you have no idea how grateful I am," Choshi smiled widely. "Your e-efforts won't go to waste, I swear! I'll have something for you when you get back, I-I promise!" "We won't be long. Wait here," Star told her, hoping to bring the scared mother a bit of relief. Then, he glanced at his partner. "Let's go. No time to waste." It was no wonder Koko got lost. The cave was pitch black (countered only by Morningstar's night vision). He had never done the quest without it and held some concern towards Fir
  3. "I feel like I've seen you before from somewhere..." Star shook his head. He was pretty that besides Willow, nobody in the crowd knew who he was. Even the thought of answering questions was unbearably painful—it was best he didn't give himself away. "I don't think we've met." The group was becoming comically large. He almost felt bad for Zandra; aside from the odd passerby, she had spent the start of the event alone. Almost was the keyword. He would have swapped places in a heartbeat. Finally, a face he recognized. It had been a while—thankfully, he didn't need to try rememberin
  4. Star sliced high before the giant could retaliate. He didn't try collecting any of its meat. It was too human to be appetizing. He was content with starving for another day if need be. His blade vanished with their foe. "I hate giants. They remind me of Oliver." He peered at the girl. She was not a lost one, nor did she look anything like a darkling. But it didn't make sense. People weren't supposed to run into other people in the maze. Maybe he was lucky. He gave her arm a light poke. "You're real, right? I'm not hallucinating?" Star's eyes narrowed. "I feel like I recognize yo
  5. They were tanky for zombies. Morningstar flourished his blade, decapitating the closest revenant. He leveraged his momentum from the first attack to expedite the second. A barrage of strikes went into another revenant, cutting through its health bar like it was nothing. From the dark came two more. With each red cloak they took down, another joined the fight as a replacement. The wave seemed endlessly repetitive. He darted forth again, bouncing from one enemy to the next, although not with enough force to kill either of the mobs. One more AoE from either of his teammates would finish the
  6. Approved. Welcome to SAO-RPG!
  7. Footsteps bounced from wall to wall; Morningstar's sword materialized in his grip. Cautiously, he stood from his knelt position, eyes locked on the corner of the wall. He tried to guess what was coming. It could have been anything, really. The steps were too quiet for a dragon, but they didn't carry the chittering sound of a phase spider. They sounded very... human. He charged a sword art the moment it rounded the corner. A Lost One—about 5'6" and weaponless. She was probably some poor player who had gotten lost in the maze. Sounded familiar. No. Wait. Green cursor. Not only that, bu

During that time, not a soul stopped by the Grand Library of Ronbaru. Occasionally, Destin would check in on him. He was a kind old man, although eccentric. Unfortunately, there was nothing he could tell Morningstar that he did not already know. Books came up empty as well. Som
  9. Willow drove her fist into the belly of an Umbral Giant. The speed boost from Charge sent it staggering, struggling to keep its footing. Winded, it teetered, flailing for balance until finally crashing to the ground. She climbed on top of the beast, and with three swift jabs to its chest, she purged it from the world. Meanwhile, Star was caught in the middle of a swarm of flesh-hungry goblins. The wargs they rode snapped at him, their snarls drowned out by the flames that spat from his blade—his only defense from being torn apart. He swung with precision, just as he’d trained, and in a single
  10. Star no longer left Lite’tara without a prayer from a shaman. Did they work? Star couldn’t say, but he thought it was better to be safe than sorry. One lost week in the labyrinth was enough for a lifetime. The system didn’t translate the language of the elder orc; Star simply replied with polite thanks and went on his way. “Do you feel blessed?” Willow teased. “Like I could walk on water,” Star said back. Eyeing the humble tents and cabins that filled the valley, Willow tossed another question his way. “What do you expect to find?” He hadn’t thought about it. He tried not t
  11. "Cave in? That doesn't sound good." The town was a mess. Voices cried out around them, a mix of begging and general anger erupting from swarms of townspeople. "Note to self: avoid Dagan after they lose a hockey game." He didn't crack a smile, but meant it as a joke. They pushed through Town Hall, all the way to the back, where the Guild Representative's Office was. "'Scuse me," he slipped past a few angry farmers and found the office door. He knocked thrice, to no avail. He tried the knob. "Oh, it's unlocked. Why is it unlocked?" he asked NIGHT rhetorically. Inside was the Guild Lea
  12. Ohmygod people are coming over here. He expected some waves, perhaps even a few hellos. He didn't expect visitors. He gave Willow a short glance before replying to Acanthus. "Oh, sure. No problem." They scooted over, making room for her on the towel. Three rapidly became four when Wulfrin materialized out of no where. "Cake? Probably over there," Star pointed. "This is Willow, my—" "Aloha!" Came the voice of a stranger. That made five. Who was the shredded new arrival and why didn't Star recognize him? He waved back regardless, completely losing his train of thought. What w
  13. When Alkor arrived in Tomoika, Star was haggling with a dwarf over a vial of Watcher's Extract. The dwarf, a heavy fellow whose beard had gone grey, scowled at Morningstar. Both parties were irritated, obvious from the way they argued. "What do you mean you don't take col? What else is there to take?" "Gold, boy! Sixty-five grams of gold—no less!" "Who in their right mind has sixty-five grams of gold on hand?" "Anyone with more brains than a rock golem!" "Whatever," Star dismissed him with a wave, stepping away from the stall. "Your mother was a rust monster!" The
