  1. Idle, that's how she'd been. For what little time had progressed between their first lessons and their current, the beginners had already built up strength to wipe out tiny boars sent their way. It was no surprise, to NIGHT. The miniatures were built for execution. The mother that protected them was new, though not unrealistic. It couldn't have been that much difficult for the fresh faces -- likewise, in her seemingly disinterested state, she did pick up on that glare shot her way, if only for a split second -- and she assumed it helped boost what berserker frenzy the warrior had been on.
  2. Mysterious blaze indeed. For it was partway through their journey that the two women had to disembark and set up fabric over their shelter before the vehicle could continue moving. Rain poured light, then heavy and back again over the tarp overhead. And in the comforts of the darkness within, it was difficult not to stay close for warmth, despite the other civilians present adapting well, and NIGHT forced herself to huddle next to the entity despite being in public. No one would know. No one would know. Chanted over and over again in her head, until she fell to slumber. Likewise, in solid
  3. As Koga started to relax, so too did NIGHT turn towards the road. She ruminated over his answer, keeping the construct's hazy figure in her sights. "'No one is an island' and all that, you mean." Though she stopped, considering his input afterwards with a grin and sarcasm. "Yeah, like you look like the type." "Oh, you're judging us now?" And if the woman stopped speaking afterwards, it was in her observation of how their surroundings were starting to fade from rocky plateaus with farmlands bare to a growing number of saplings crowding their gradual descent. The forest wasn't dense ye
  4. "Drain Fraz out of water," NIGHT stated plainly. It wasn't as though she was paying attention to the other party goers around her; she wasn't here for the social aspects, after all. "Assuming it could be rolled upstairs -- ah, but the pressure..." It pained the player to even consider the possibility that such an event would occur in her own home. In fact, it almost moved her to redesign her own living conditions due to the fact that she, too, had a bathroom only on the second floor. But that wouldn't help the poor slime full of liquid still. NIGHT thought about it a little more before op
  5. "I'd rather no one did know my name." NIGHT listened, turning away for a moment. And just the same, her gaze met her counterpart's, the woman grinning back all the same at that news. No words were said, but with the smile directed her way, she wondered if it was all in attempt to make her flush. "That's not even remotely true," she argued back, snapping back to Koga before she felt warm again. "Baldur called us both out on it. And don't think I didn't catch the side eyes a lot of the veterans were giving us, either. Just because I made the first move in Hirru's defense doesn't mean I
  6. Sheesh. Edgy much. NIGHT really had to start asking where these players were getting their 'cool particle effects' from, because it seemed like such a worthwhile investment. (To it's makers. There was absolutely no reason why she'd needed to make herself stand out in that way on a regular basis.) As Koga leapt from the ruins of their crashed vehicle, so too did NIGHT follow in turn. And no, she hadn't expected the ground to burn, nor for the heat to rise uncomfortably -- and the woman was adamant on keeping her tracksuit on just the same. Incidentally, her fall was as silent as a cat
  7. "Please don't make it sound like I'm known for anything." NIGHT relaxed into her seat once again, arms folded. Even amongst the front, she didn't seem to know where she stood against the sea of other players. That was good, on the surface. "If you had to ask me, having a blank slate for a reputation is better than being known for something. Especially if it was something negative in kind." Her eyes then drifted to her construct, still contemplating on Koga's words. The markets were fine. "You'd be surprised, if you did your research. Players have house attendants all the time. It wouldn't
  8. "I don't know why your house was flooding but you're lucky Frazberry is in a good mood or else you would be mopping for hours." To be honest, Koga might've only been mopping for minutes. But NIGHT didn't say that, looking over the slime-with-a-name. "Yo Fraz, can't you do something about yourself. You are apparently upsetting people." Only frustration to the familiar. What? What kind of an owner was this other woman? What happened to taking care of the things you owned? Likewise, it was almost as though the player had shared the slime's concern after the sight. So NIGHT looked
  9. and if she'd stopped, it was to hold the rush of adrenaline, hold fire on instincts. hold, hold, hold. time was likely thinking against her, despite her patience, although night had to wonder if either by the lantern had managed to even see her. if luck was on her side, between the panic-induced rage of the assassin and the haze of wishful thinking from melody herself, she might've been able to wander in uncaught. of course, that was a risk she wasn't so willing to take, especially with lives on the line. but a single good strike was all she needed; a good strike, and a blade as her
  10. Climbing onto the wagon was of no issue. As the village folk bustled about to get the rest of their travelling provisions in order, a simple clatter of horse steps across cobblestone marked as the start of their travels. And despite the clouds that started to grow thicker in the dark overhead, the light breeze from their travel onwards spoke nothing of impending showers just yet. NIGHT might've had her sights on the path they were taking out of Dagan, but her mind was solely on conversation, the woman sat with with her elbow on her knee. So she didn't catch DAY's look of pleasant surprise

  12. caring was such a specific word. responsibility might've been a better one. she watched as koga unraveled himself from his stance, relaxing only just once he contemplated on how nari might've interpreted her words. part of her wanted to try and recall what she'd said that night; was her reasoning then too complicated to bear? "Are you gonna try and talk with her again?" another part won her over -- the refusal. because for what she could've begun to recall from memory, nothing could replace the striking and violent cries past nari's disappearance, the fading shards of light
  13. "you can't be serious." that was the first thing the woman had wanted to utter. and night woke up, slowly, before all at once, when she'd finally managed to find the words she'd been seeking for. "it wasn't a very good reason," she tried to justify, but the more those words echoed, left static in air, the more her protesting tone sounded like a childish whine than an answer. so she turned her head. wrapped her arms around her knees once again. searched the far wall for the words to say. then she spoke. "before you came back," night started, slow, her index and thumb looped
  14. it took all of her effort for night to peel herself away from the walls. she didn't want to go home. it felt like losing a battle that way. as though something she wanted to be proven to herself got lost in a sea of mixups. of bad blood and unexpected consequences. still, it was koga talking to her. and she didn't have anywhere else to go, so night took her friend's advice. she took her friend's hand in her own. the futon crumpled around her as night stood. soft paces across the floor -- if the woman had more energy, more concern, she would've drifted across the tatami, feather
  15. "no." then night thought over it, eyes downcast. "... not exactly. i mean..." her form slid back over her knees as the woman hugged them again. a groan, as she considered. narrowed eyes towards a washed out room. "it's... it's as off-putting as it is in any other scenario, i think. like, being forced into a role like that. i mean, it doesn't make me comfortable, since that isn't really me. but i mean..." another grumble, and her temple rubbed against her legs once more. uncertainty. what of the dinner did she have the right to say? "nari has a lot of issues," she decided,
  16. "...no." tension in the air, still. night had the rest of the competition to push on through. something she needed to prove to herself. something important. but-- "i don't want to be here," she whispered back, pulling herself out from the sheets that she'd plastered herself under, now dizzy in addition to being afraid. the world seemed to spin under the lack of knowledge from her surroundings. her eyes wandered -- from the ceiling, to the broken door, to the wooden table set aside and the incense upon the floor. she thought about the destruction she'd wrought. night wo
  17. reticent. night's eyelids were lowering by the minute; stoic, upset. when koga threw back his question, she could only consider the idea lightly. "in that dinky old room?" she hated it in there. her hair rubbed at her skin when she shook her head. "i wouldn't even want to go back just for a visit." she was quiet, still, for the better half of a moment. then, with a shift, she let her temple rest on her knee. a sideward glance towards her surroundings. "you know," night started again, her gaze drifting between different blobs of colours in her blurry vision, "she's completely different fro
  18. quiet. in the atmosphere, there was only fading incense and the chaotic sounds of a fight taking place in the main hall. the trading of blows, of wood against wood. a growl here and there. an applause occurred, during the silence. night didn't even shift once. it was at the second set of strikes that she had the strength to peek her head out from under the futon. reddened eyes and nose, an expression too tired, spoke of exhaustion in handling reality in the moment. downtrodden. the quiver of her body was only in fear of the open door, and night sank back into her hiding spot s
  19. "huh...?" it was the only salvation from her fixation. and it was like the scrunchie on her wrist wasn't even there. night raised her head, almost calming down at the mention of her other. like the mere essence of the construct could make a nonbeliever turn to the lord. like she were to see the sight of a rising sun. (and in turn,) "... whatever gave you that impression...?" (the devil would've turned on its heel to leave at such a lost cause.) but night was serious in her expression towards koga. soft, tarnished and broken, but not humorous. no tricks, no j
