  1. SuzuNa seemed impressed with Yona's explanation on the profession. However, when she started explaining the statistical plan, the player had no idea what she was talking about?

"Oh, no..." Yona thought, upon the realization hitting her. Out loud, she would simply say, "You...don't play very many MMO's, do you?" She tried so hard to avoid grimacing at the inevitable...how was she going to explain all of this? Maybe it was best to just answer the immediate questions for the time being. "Open up your UI, and access the Equipment tab. You should see your equipped gear listed there. You can check an item's enhancements from the list, or even with the items in your inventory." Yona began. "Evasion doesn't necessarily do all the work for you, it makes it easier to dodge incoming attacks. You still have to move out of the way yourself. Think of it like...a bit of a speed boost to help you get out of harm's way. Mitigation reduces the amount of damage you take, but damage dealt can never be below 1. Weapons can have enhancements, too, like Damage, which increases your base damage, as the name tells, and Accuracy, which can make your attacks more precise, it becomes easier to hit a target. If your equipment has different enhancements I didn't mention, point them out and I'll explain what little I know about them." She explained.

Might as well get these explanations over with now, before engaging any hostile creatures.

  2. SuzuNa revealed she was level one, too. Looks like they were in the same boat here. The player then asked what kind of "dangerous" profession Yona was getting into. "I'm looking to be an Appraiser, which doesn't exactly have a dangerous process, so I've heard. But to do that, I need items to appraise. Where are those items found? Out there, where the enemies dwell." Yona explained. "In games like these, such items are often found by killing monsters or opening treasure chests. In this game, if you have the cash, you can get them from a shop...of course, items found out in the field do have their value...if identified by an Appraiser. Sometimes, an item identified by an Appraiser can have some enhancements that aren't found in equipment some other player could make, and from what I can tell, that's where the profession truly shines."

Once the players were outside the Safe Zone, Suzuna would equip a pair of claws, and ask what the plan was. "Well, that depends on both our gear, to be honest. Sure, we might be able to dish out enough damage to take out a single enemy with ease, but defenses are also an important thing to take note of. My Cloth Armor I have equipped has Mitigation and Evasion, so I'll take less damage if I'm hit, and it will be harder for them to hit me. I might not be a Tank, but I can try to pull Aggro on the enemy so you don't have to worry about getting hit, should you lack Mitigation on your own equipment." Yona answered. It was always best to form a mostly baked strategy before going into the fray, anyway.

  3. The way SuzuNa spoke the term "Party" seemed to suggest that she was unfamiliar with the term. So this was a total newbie she was working with, but Yona was a newbie once, so she couldn't possibly blame this player for looking slightly clueless...though some of the other words had suggested that Yona might not have been the first to do anything with her, and may have showed her a few ropes. Yona pulled up her own UI and sent a party invite to SuzuNa. "Right, so, what's your level at the moment? I may be level one myself, but I know a thing or two that ought to keep me alive." She asked after sending the invite. It was always good to know what you were working with. After all, there was only one way Yona knew to get her hands on items that weren't identified...or maybe there were two methods, she hadn't been out there for very long at all, but she had experience with other games, so that might help.

    @SuzuNa

  4. The player was closing a bunch of windows on her UI.

A VR Newbie, she seemed to be, judging by how she acted with all the windows popping up and having to close them. Either that, or she was so busy with them that one little slip messed everything up. The player introduced herself as SuzuNa, then placed the blame for the close call on Yona. "Excuse me, what?" Yona thought. Then again, she was a bit excited to get out of this situational dump, she didn't see this town as a dump, but she sure saw her position as being in one. "So you're saying I wasn't paying attention, and I was on the belief you weren't paying attention to your surroundings until last minute. I actually thought you were heading a different direction but then before I knew it we were on a crash course...you know what, let's just say we were both at fault in this case, but at least we didn't actually crash into each other. Can we agree on that?" Yona took a quick breath, then spoke again. "I um, I'm sorry for assuming you were going a different direction." There, now there was no need to worry about it...hopefully. "I really should have gone outside more often..." Yona thought. "But if only my damn parents had just let me."

With her thoughts out of the way, she decided to explain the situation. "I've been needing to get to a better state of living, and to do that, I need a profession. I've considered and tried multiple, but they didn't seem to fit my style." Yona explained, omitting the issues she had with some of the ones she attempted. "Now that I've actually found a possibility, I'm off to get the items I'll need, which are out there, beyond the safe zone's edge. ...But I'm still kinda low level...maybe having an ally around would be beneficial... Hey, you seemed to have trouble with the UI. Are you new to VR gaming, by any chance?" She looked Suzuna up and down as she asked this. She might possibly look new to some people, but only stats could confirm, though honest words were alright, too.

  5. If Yona was gonna get anywhere, she had to be more than a scavenger in the wilds. But what else could she try? She was clumsy with the forge, kept poking herself with the tailor's needle, wasn't delicate enough to be an artisan, she wasn't the best with potions unless a quest required it, she was a mediocre chef at best, as she found herself incapable of performing the key actions for making enhanced food(how does that even work?), and despite her sense of style and pretty voice, she didn't seem capable of writing her own songs, let alone winding up as a Bard from Dungeons and Dragons just by choosing performer as a profession.

So what else could she try? Well, she recently heard from the grapevine about Appraisers, who could identify a looted item's enhancements, sometimes coming across something unique... With a glint in her eyes, and a smirk on her face, she began seeking out a teacher for Appraisers. She came across an NPC who knew a potential mentor's location, and marked it on her map.

When she arrived, she could clearly see that this NPC had wares for days, maybe weeks, or months, even! The NPC emerged from a rack of scrolls, greeting Yona with a smile of pearly whites as shiny as that bald spot on his head. If there were nice-looking scavengers of the Business World, he was clearly one of them. "Why Hello, what is it you're looking for today?"

"I'm looking for someone to train me in the art of Appraisal, and I was directed to you." Yona revealed. The NPC scowled. "I don't do anything for free." He shot back. "Obviously. You think I didn't know that?" Yona responded. "Is it a Col Payment, or do you need me to fetch something for you?" The NPC seemed to be in thought for a short moment as he looked Yona up and down. "Well knowledgeable, straight to the point...seems to have a little potential...hmm..." He muttered to himself. Then out loud, he said, "Tell you what, you bring me the items, I'll show you how to identify them." With that, Yona would nod in agreement and be off.

Yona made a straight dash towards the safe zone's exit, but she skidded to a stop when someone walked in her way. Yona stopped moving only an inch from who she almost bumped into. This person wasn't an NPC, so why didn't she move in time? "Whoa there!" She called out as she was skidding to a stop. "I almost bumped into you, did you not see or hear me coming?" After a second or two, however, she then followed with, "Then again, this is a bustling city, so I can't possibly blame you for something like that." Wanting to come across less rude, she decided to introduce herself. "I go by Yona." She said with a light smile as she offered her hand to shake.

  6. Yona was finally ready to take on Aincrad, she'd been waiting for this day, for a long, long time.

And yet, it kind of weighed on her, despite the growing excitement. She could die here...but she'd be dead inside if she stayed stuck in the Town of Beginnings forever, so it was now or never. She had everything prepared, and now she was ready to leave her "home" for a journey she'd never forget. She'd constantly heard stories about low level players who always kept losing each other, but maybe, there was actually a small benefit to starting late. With all the more experienced players making better alternatives to typical starting equipment, this was indeed looking like one of those RPGs where one can invest their starting money into items or equipment...and she'd made quite the investment, so she knew she'd better not butcher it.

So much to do, so little time...

But now was the time to step forward.

  7. Yona was almost finished making sure she was ready for what lies ahead, she just had two more stops. First, there was this Alchemist's shop she'd heard of, so she was going to take a look. Upon entering, she wondered if she stumbled into the wrong place, as it looked more like a cafe than the usual alchemist's dwelling. Then again, there were all kinds of different designs to various shops, so she might as well take a look and confirm just to be sure.

As it turned out, this was an Alchemy shop, after all. Yona was able to realize this when she took a look at the available wares. Well, she knew what she wanted, and she knew what she could pay, so it was off to the counter for her as to make a purchase...or two.

  8. An item commission in which only the stats mattered, and possibly one more stop before heading out into the dangerous wilds of Aincrad. It had been Waaaaaaaay too long since she did anything, so it was time to get moving...past time, in fact.

Yona would make her way through the alley, over to where the shop was, as marked on her map after asking for directions...obviously not from someone residing in the alley, of course.

The building's interior had many shelves, fully stocked with various bits and baubles, from what Yona could tell, but it was also very quiet, too. Must be the low player count resulting in only some occasional visits. With less than ten thousand left alive, there was likely to not be very many around to pay a visit for some equipment they didn't have to gamble or fight for. It was almost like she came here because she was...new...

New to making a journey throughout the game, that is! She made her way to the counter, but didn't see anyone immediately. Her eyes scanned the area and she soon spotted someone just sitting down there. After being asked if there was anything she was looking for, it was best to get to the point. "I came over for a commissioned item; A luck charm. I'm Yona, by the way." She explained. She brought the col out of her inventory, ready to make the transaction.

The Shopkeeper was paid, Yona got an item she could make use of, and now it was time to finish preparations and set out.

  9. So much to do, so little time.

Yona would need the proper preparations before going out, and yet she had heard of a Tailor who lived somewhere on what was apparently a peaceful floor? Well, it was better to take the quick route, as Yona had nothing to keep her alive from any hostile encounters, nothing but a weapon and the weakest stats ever.

The trip would be a bit longer than anticipated, but in the end, She managed to get to the tailor's property(albeit she had a horse's help), for she had made an order for something that could actually help her out. If there was anything she knew about RPGs that had players start out with some money, it was best to use said money to get better equipment as to survive the lower levels...but of course, she also had materials she could trade, as she had no idea what to do with them.

Unlike most players, it seemed that this particular one had a...large plot of land. "I can't wait to get my own one day..." She thought, remembering her original home, which was like a comfortable prison...but if she was to get one of her own, it would truly be a home to her. But for now, she would make her way through the land and reach the tailor shop, which was currently being watched by a redheaded maid.

"I had placed an order earlier, so I'm now here to pick it up, as well as pay for it, of course." Yona answered to the maid's politely asked question. "I'm Yona, by the way." She added, for identification purposes. Upon handing over a material payment, Yona would receive the custom made item, and from there, she would thank the maid(and the shop's owner if she ever showed up during the transaction), take the item and leave, for there was something else she needed before taking on Aincrad...

"Deep down, there's a Light that never goes out."

    Spoiler

    Caring:

She cares for others often, and is willing to help them out. While she’s unwilling to take hits for others, she is definitely the sort of person who would restore someone back to health(if she could), or give them an item to help them, possibly even equipment(if she has no use for it)! Helping others is the right thing to do, and she likes to see the smiles this produces.

    Fun-loving:

“Girls just wanna have fun” Well, this is very true in Tora’s case. Now that she’s free to do as she pleases, even if she’s in a virtual prison with many others, she no longer has anything holding her back to be out there and be around for a good time. There are likely to be some points in her experience where she has fun, despite the lethal nature of the game.

    Clever:

Despite being homeschooled, she was given surprisingly good education during her childhood. Sure, she was given chances at an all-girls Academy, but even that had a rather prestigious curriculum. She has therefore grown into a clever and knowledgeable young woman, and her intelligence is not to be underestimated.

    Flaws:

    1864421504_Screenshot2021-04-091_14_11PM.png.0a8c7990dcc85cc51c9afd6e6e5ee74f.png

"There is Darkness in every Heart, no matter how pure."

    Spoiler

    Unwilling to Bend:

Subservience? Pah! It’s not something she puts up with. Yes, she is caring, and is willing to help others out. But servitude to another? That’s just not her style. She doesn’t mind having others with servitude and/or subservience towards her, though she usually treats those people like friends...it’s just that she dislikes having someone with absolute authority over her, and this may cause her to become rebellious, maybe even aggressive, towards someone in a higher position than her if she feels like she’s under rule.

    Somewhat Selfish:

She had been constantly trying to get what she wanted throughout her childhood...but that never stopped. In fact, it’s grown into a habit of hers. If she wants friends, she’ll push until she gets some. If she wants to turn the tables on life, she’ll go for it. While she does have some willingness to do selfless acts, countless wants and/or needs she has are often centered on herself.

    Strong-willed:

She is a woman with ambitions. Ambitions to rise above, ambitions to never be controlled by another person, ambitions to make friends, and even more. Her ambitions are often rooted in her selfish wants, but her determination to get things done can be a virtue if her “selfish” want turns out to be an actually noble goal.

    Profile:

    Username: Yona

    Real name: Tora Amberhide

    Age: 20-22

    Gender: Female

    Height: 5’7”(171 cm)

    Birthday: September 17

    Background:

    Spoiler

Tora Amberhide was born in the US to two wealthy parents. While she had an older brother named Kai, she didn’t have very much company, aside from a few hired maids assigned to her. She wanted real friends outside her home, though, and she was also homeschooled. She would ask to be able to go out and meet other people, but she was apparently forbidden to do so for two reasons. One reason was her safety, and the other reason was because her brother had been out there, only to be “influenced badly” as a result. This gave Tora a rather lonesome beginning for her childhood.

Her parents were barely there for her, and her brother’s chances of interacting with her were few. Even so, she was prevented from seeing the outside world, for the sake of something called “Perfection”. All this curriculum she was learning, and she couldn’t make any real use for it, in her opinion. She wanted to be with other kids her age, but was given no chance to do so. She began trying to find hobbies to pass the time and make use of the knowledge, and give her solace from the constant harrying of her parents’ struggle for perfection in their children. They had failed with Kai, so they focused on her.

One day it was just too much for Tora. She was hardly getting a chance to be with her family members, and these servants can’t possibly be the only ones she’d ever know in her life. Why? When she got a chance, she would defiantly walk up to her parents and ask for a chance to be out there, with others like her. She was denied, but the maids who were assigned to her would ask that the parents reconsider, as the current course of action was not the best for her. They too, were denied. The week after, however, she would receive some news...a compromise had been made.

Finally, a chance to be out there. She would be introduced to a particular school, one that her parents’ wealth seemed to allow access to. She was finally around people her age, although she would find that there were only girls in this school. Something was up, but she couldn’t place a finger on it just yet. She would learn about many more things, and even develop a few hobbies, including gaming, from her interactions with other students. Her world seemed to be opening up at last...but it was not to be.

Tora’s chance to be out there was quite soon closed, and was done in almost a year. She found herself being homeschooled again, and denied access to the school she was attending prior to this. These actions were apparently taken due to unwanted influence… Why did they demand something they could not get from her? Human beings can’t just be made into one shape but forced into another fitting whether it’s good for them or not! Perfection doesn’t exist, why haven’t they figured it out yet?

Tora still had access to the internet, so she still had one way to contact the friends she’d managed to make prior to the re-confinement. They still did things together over the internet, such as online gaming, voice chatting, and video chatting. Soon, through one of her existing friends, she was finally able to make friends among males, although it was small, and started with a video chat when a friend’s brother was being introduced to her.

She would soon hear that her mother had conceived, but the servants told Tora the reason for this...due to Tora’s failure to be the child they wanted, their attention will be shifting to the new child, and she would be left to the minimum they require. To be replaced...there were mixed feelings about this. She soon heard from her parents directly that she would be allowed to return to the school once the child was born.

Tora was able to be near Kai much more frequently now, but she was told that she was never to meet her new siblings. Yes, there was more than one younger sibling, for Tora’s mother had given birth to twins. She and her brother had much to talk about, and they seemed to share disdain of their parents actions towards their own children. Kai had a few male friends who seemed excited to know more about his younger sister, and in return, Tora introduced Kai to some of her own friends.

Tora’s teenage life wasn’t much different from her child life, but there were definitely differences, including the ones that the servants would tell her in advance. Twins were born to her parents, but she and Kai were forbidden to have any contact with the two. Gaming turned out to be a real stress relief, she could finally be someone she wanted to be, someone whose destiny lay before her, and not in some mad quest for perfection, or constant quarantine...but even these worlds had their limits. Kai introduced her to a few things that his own friends had introduced to him, with anime being an example.

When she got older, she took her gaming skill to the next level and started streaming. She actually enjoyed this form of work, and was only free to do so because she’d been given up on by her parents, being held only to a minimized standard. This didn’t stop her from pitying her younger twin siblings, stuck in their lockdown as the parents try to force the two to be “perfect”.

Life as a young adult wasn’t like that of which she expected. Her parents still refused that she go out to the rest of the world, so thus the internet was her only connection to the outside world, unless she was to go to college or something. Since Streaming was slowly developing into a potential profession, she would need time to think about that. It wouldn’t be long before she’d hear of Sword Art Online, and manage to get her hands on the game.

Never did she anticipate that she’d be Isekai’d by a gaming headset.

    Personality:

    Spoiler

As a gamer, Yona is an achiever first, but an explorer and dominator second. Since she has never been in a game of this nature, not all of the traits seen in these two halves of her gaming personality are seen. This results in her being more inclined to PvE than PvP, though she doesn’t mind having non-lethal duels to show potential rivals or enemies who’s boss.

As a person, Tora has quite a few sides to her. She can be fun, and loves to make friends when she can. She has a major sweet tooth, and her education has made her into a clever young woman who’s not to be underestimated. Her wealthy lifestyle is a double-edged sword, for it has its ups and downs on her life and personality. She has an eye for beauty and has a particular style she sticks with in terms of apparel. She doesn’t mind seeing simpler, or less-wealthier clothing, but ragged, unkept or poor clothes are garments she refuses to wear herself. Consequently, she’d be terrible at  most disguises. She is an ambitious young woman who wants to carve her own path, rather than let someone else do it for her, or even try to control or possess her.
