  1. Nari wandered into the forge, the fire barely burning – but providing a soft glow against the otherwise ever dark area. She’d had her first customer – something she would remember fondly. And although things hadn’t been going… well, in many areas – she felt she was one step closer to the front lines. A place that she so desperately wanted to be. Glancing at the hammer on the anvil, she knew of another area she still needed to practice. She was getting better, but… Picking up the hammer, she went to work, focusing on the heavy armour she would need now that she had grown so much str
  2. “I…” Nari thought back to that night, trying to figure out exactly what had been the tipping point. So much had occurred… she couldn’t quite determine exactly what had been the true angering piece. Sure, the disappearing act. But that was towards the end, and as Koga had said…two sided. Was it the reaction? The condescending? Or was it… something else. “I’m not… sure…” She paused in her foraging, thinking back on the night. Thinking back on when everything went downhill. Thinking back on how much she had shared. She’d basically been an opening book, holding back only the dearest of secret
  3. Nari smiled at Koga, waving a hand towards the girl. “Oh, you two know each other already? Awesome! I was going to show her around a bit, maybe introduce her-“ Nari heard the announcement, and her words stopped, her heart clenching. She knew what that meant. Eyes turning cold, distant and full of an emotion she rarely felt, she stepped away from the others, her words carrying behind her as she did so – barely audible, but mumbled nonetheless. “Right…time to fight. I’ll, uh, come back later. Hopefully you two enjoy the show…” Without another word she headed out, collecting herse
  4. Nari stopped midway through her rant – her mouth opening and closing a few times before snapping shut. Her eyebrows furrowed slightly, and she opened her mouth to speak again, raising a hand as if to contribute to her argument with the single digit that was up. Her voice hesitated, and for a moment she simply stood, finger raised, mouth open, silent. Shaking her head, she forced the words out. “Yeah, but…well…I was…look she pissed me off!” The excuse ran hollow to her own ears, and Nari felt herself scowl. Kicking at the dirt, she stared death at the ground beneath her. This wasn’t
  5. Nari felt the strike against her shoulder this time, causing her to twist and turn. She knew that she should reset herself, to ready herself against the chance that she may recklessly take herself out of this tournament. Everything within her collided, the combat between reckless fury, years of training, and the anger of a woman scorned. Something snapped within her. A sudden change in her stance – the fury on her face gone, replaced with the stoic, emotionless battle appearance she wore when fighting. Everything suddenly calmed, her heart slowed down, the emotions in her mind receded. S
  6. Nari smiled at the girl – a memory of her own awkwardness around people she didn’t know coming back to her. She had changed…a lot, in the recent times. Glancing around, she looked for who nearby might be worth introducing the poor girl to, thinking that maybe a bit of distraction might help calm her. She spotted Koga not too far away, waving at the man to draw his attention. “Hey! Koga! Come here, I have someone I want to introduce you to!” Glancing back towards Xena, Nari will add, “Koga is great, he’s been…well, a great friend. Once you get passed his…loner demeaner. He enjoys hi
  7. Nari felt the strike against her, barely registering it. Her face was locked into a scowl of absolute hatred as she stepped back, giving herself space for what she knew would be a reckless attack – but she didn’t care. Rushing forward, she watched as the spear lashed out, almost expertly handled in its attempt to strike her as she approached – but Nari had long ago learnt the ways of the polearm, something she had been trained in with her days of Aikido. Kicking off at the last second, she twirled around the spear’s reach, bringing herself twisting towards her right side, allowing the bok
  8. Nari spotted the familiar girl from the encounter with the minotaur, even with the cloak pulled up over her head, as if to hide herself away. Although frustration still held her heart – she was not looking forward to what was to come, or was she? It didn’t really matter now, did it – she knew that the new face would likely enjoy some company. Nari could tell that Xena seemed a little uncomfortable in the area – either from the amount of people, or something else Nari couldn’t quite tell. Whatever it was, she knew that she should go try and relax the girl – a sudden image of a smiling face lead
  9. Her attention drawn as the second round display board was placed, Nari felt her face frown slightly at the realisation there had been a last minute adjustment to the rounds. She knew there was nothing to do about it, but she felt a twang of disappointment at not being able to immediately face Alk- Her eyes narrowed as she saw the name on the board next to hers. NIGHT. A small flutter of anger began to kindle in her chest, and the longer she looked at it, the greater it grew. Turning back to Alkor, she bowed slightly. “It would appear that fate has a different plan for us, for now. Do
  10. Nari stepped into the sparring square, glancing again at the board for opponents. She had expected to fight Alkor – a man who seemed to contain an absolute essence of pure fighting spirit. She had wondered how she would fair against someone like him. But instead… Astreya had been the one to point out that she wasn’t to face Alkor. Instead, she’d be facing someone else – someone whom she felt she had a vendetta to settle with. She wondered if somehow word had gotten around… ‘Likely Koga’s doing. Although…’ She couldn’t imagine Koga doing something like this – well, not intentionally a
  11. Waving her hands wildly as she walked, Nari began retelling events that had played in her mind for the past little while – spoken only aloud to the little fox on her shoulder. She felt the emotions rushing back as she spoke, her voice taking on a tone of anger and frustration as she continued. “Well, everything started out horribly. The date itself – who am I kidding. It wasn’t a date. It was a disaster. I was crying. NIGHT was… NIGHT. We ended up arguing about what our purpose in this game was. And then – I took her home. Figured I’d apologise for such a bad dinner. It was awful, mind yo

  14. Nari felt a burst of pride as she wondered into her workshop – the new tool addition hanging against the side of the anvil’s table, a spot of honour for it. It had been painful to collect, but she was about to find out if all the work was worth it or not. While Yuki bounded off to her usual spot on the workbench, Nari moved herself to the anvil, picking up the hammer and testing its weight and balance, before collecting the materials she would need for the job. She had already decided what she would make today, and now just needed to bring it to life.
  15. Nibbling on the proffered cookie, Nari couldn’t react fast enough as the chair tipped backwards, giving out beneath Astreya and causing the girl to learn the harsh truth about gravity – even in this system, the basic fundamentals still won. Offering a hand to help Astreya up, Nari will grin slyly, quietly adding, “That looked like it hurt…” Glancing towards the table and the cards, she’ll frown slightly, still trying to figure out the game itself. It appeared to be a combination of adding numbers pre-designated to cards, to get to a maximum amount. The call of ‘hit me’ was…. An annoy
  16. Nari drifted back towards the group, hearing her name being spoken not once, but twice. Her curiosity peaked, she found the group joined by a newcomer, and from the sounds of it – he was to be her next opponent. Bowing slightly, Nari will look the newcomer in the eyes, a stoic expression on her face as she speaks to him. “I’m Nari. I hear we’re to spar next. From what I’ve heard, you’re a capable fighter. I look forward to our contest, and hope that you provide a challenge.” Her eyes seem somewhat distant as she speaks, as if her mind is off somewhere else. Memories flashing before h
  17. Nari glanced at Koga at the mention of losing another friend. She felt her heart pang a little in response, the pain of the idea reaching her again. She knew that feeling all too well, although she herself rarely voiced it aloud. Her left eyebrow rose, however, as Koga approached the NPC and announced they were there to kill him. “I uh… don’t think he’ll let us – oh. Wait. Never mind.” Nari sputtered as Nemo began walking away, clearing leading them out into the wild lands towards his garden. ‘I… huh. I guess he really does just do what he’s supposed to do… still an ass hole, but… I guess
  18. Nari stopped to stare at Koga for a few seconds, before the realisation of his confusion clicked in. She smiled, a hint of playfulness on her face, as if she was mocking him in a friendly manner. “Not the Gardener. A gardener. He’s…well, he likes gardens. Nemo, that is. And I guess…Raidou? I think that’s his name. I just know him as the Gardener. Come on, we need to follow him to this teleporter pad…and hopefully get to fight him again.” Nari grabbed onto Koga’s wrist, giving the man a slight tug forward, trying to encourage him to follow her lead. She continued talking as she went, shari

  21. As the wolf burst into thousands of shards, Nari gave a slight bow, before sheathing her weapon. The fight had been better than she had expected, and she felt a bit of sympathy for having easily defeated such a worthy foe. Collecting her gains, she made her way back towards the teleporter pad, waving softly to Nemo as she approached. The man seemed both happy and sad to see her, his face dropping slight as she made her way towards the pad – and escape from the garden itself. “Oh, you’re done already?” Nari paused at the question, a hint of sadness in his voice. She felt…something. “It fe
  22. This time Nari’s strike was ready for the lunging wolf, sweeping under and up into its buddy as it came down towards her shield. Knocking the momentum aside, she dragged her blade along its shank, tearing into it as it let loose a welp of pain. Nari felt her grin return, the calmness of battle carrying her through – the emotions in check and under control, if only beneath the surface. She felt pride at everything she had managed this far, and felt herself naturally step back into her ready position for one final lunge. Knowing that it wasn’t worth overdoing it, Nari readied herself for a
  23. Nari felt her feet give out under her as she lunged forward, attempting to strike first at the wolf. She tipped, her shield opening up slightly as the wolf lunged into the air, managing to catch the side of her face with its claws. Her own health bar barely registered any change, but she knew she had taken a hit. The entire situation had been careless – and she cursed herself silently for letting it happen. Taking a deep breath, she stepped back, putting some space between her and her opponent. Her shield and sword in their familiar positions, she eyed down the length of the blade once m
  24. Nari miscalculated the speed of the creature in her haste to strike at it, and although she landed a strong hit across its side, she felt as the teeth grazed her underneath the protection of the shield. More surprisingly, the creature seemed to glow as its teeth connected with her, a small portion of its health bar recovering from what she could only assume was something related to its attack. Nari eyed the creature cautiously, wondering if the affect applied on every successful strike – or only under certain conditions. Either way, it would make this more difficult – and all the more reason n
  25. Straightening up, Nari tucked away the small pile of materials that she had just found. Eyeing the wolves, she noticed that one had drifted slightly away from the others – leaving itself vulnerable, in a position where its companions likely wouldn’t be drawn once Nari unleashed on it. Or, at least, that’s what she expected would happen. The creatures did seem to appear to move in packs and enjoy staying close to one another… But she was confident that in this case, she would be okay. Cardinal wouldn’t throw something so dangerous at her – at least, not yet. Convincing herself that she was
