PP-F6) Goblins Again (Itzal)

Recommended Posts

Jonathan watched as the goblins came toward him, their weapons raised. Their weapons gleamed with some sort of dark aura. He frowned and riased his shield, preparing to intercept the blow. The axes smacked into his shield, and he fell back, taking a total considerable amount of damage. He snarled, and turned on the shaman. It appeared ot be having a major affect over the battlefield. "Yeah, that guy HAS to go!" The blond took off, his body mending itself as he did. He came back up the the shaman, and lsashed through its body, dealing less damage then before, and taking some sort of thorn damage with it. "This guy is weird" He backed away, preparing for another set volley by the goblin warriors. "More damage, bring it in" He raised his shield, hoping another effect from the shaman would not ruin his well placed out plan.

Itzal watched as Jonathan demanded that the shaman had to go.  Not only that but he was essentially taunting the monsters to charge him.  Itzal watched as the Shaman sent another blast of frost at Jonathan but it didn't get past the shield.  The other warriors charged but Itzal rushed up and parried the first warrior's blade and kicked the second one away.  He dueled the warrior for a few seconds before Velnia came in and occupied it while Itzal activated disguise to change into the shaman, charged the shaman, and released Nova Ascension on him.  The shaman was knocked back but wasn't paralyzed.  Suddenly the Shaman held a green light in his hands and threw it down at the floor, the tile cracking as a human sized tree creature emerged and shot towards Jonathan, lashing out at him with it's limbs.  The creature seemed to ignore Jonathan's damage but what Itzal couldn't see but Jonathan could feel, was each of it's strikes shot it's branches in between the slots of the armor, striking Jonathan and not the armor at all.  Itzal looked at the Shaman whose hood was knocked down in the attack.  He saw the single, small tear that was forming in his eye.  Once again both players felt something strange, as if a force entered inside of them, and left not too long after.

Jonathan watched as Itzal fought through the two warriors to get to the shaman. Then, he slashed through the shaman, but actually transformed into it to finish it. Jonathan smiled and charged forward himself, his weapon blazing with its natural blue light. His gold had faded off quite a bit back, it was after he had lost the enjoyment of his build. It was lke as if he was pure before, but now it had faded away. He felt his pendant burn on his neck, and magnet his weapon a bit to the left as he slashed. His weapon met its mark, bringing down the shaman even further down in health. He backed away raising his shield. Then he turned seeing a rather strange sight. A tree warrior was walking forward, using its own limbs as whips to strike him. Somehow, they went through his armor, dealing quite a bit. The blond growled and backed away. These things were doing some pretty unfair moves, and he was not appreciating it too much. "Alright Itzal, halfway done"

Itzal watched as Jonathan charged forward and dealt another blow against the Shaman.  The attack dropped it's health down below the halfpoint section.  All the monsters seemed to notice it.  The warrior's eyes flashed red with hatred and charged at Jonathan with all force they could muster.  While they did so the shaman shot a blast of frost at Jonathan.  Once again Itzal felt a strange sensation as did Jonathan, as if something tried to enter them.  What on earth was it Itzal wondered.  Like seriously.  The humanoid tree vanished from sight and Itzal had missed where it went.  Then suddenly it emerged from the ground from behind Jonathan and thrusted it's arm at his back, striking it's pure damage from behind.  While it did, Itzal rushed at the shaman, releasing Nova Ascension on the boss.  "We need to finish this off.  But something's not right.  Jonathan does it look like the shaman's about to cry?"

Jonathan was focused on the Shaman, tired of its effect over the battle field. The Shaman shot a blast of frost at him, and he intercepted it, immediately beginning to feel cold and loose in his body. He shook the feeling off, and felt as something was striking at his back. He snarled an watched as the tree vanished, back away from his wrath. Even the warrior struck him, and it all was an insane amount of damage. Each of them were moving through his mitigation as if it were nothing. He advanced on the shaman further, knowing that it was the true cause of this. He charged forward, moving its weapon out of his wy before continuing to hack through its body, lowering its health even further. Itzal spoke about the shaman crying. "I really don't care, I just want it dead at the moment." He truthfully no care for the goblin feelings if that was what Itzal was getting at.

Itzal watched as Jonathan replied to Itzal's observation with nothing but annoyance and rage.  Itzal grabbed his shoulder and looked him in the eye.  "Hey, calm down.  Don't let anger take over you in the heat of battle.  Stay focused and see the big picture ok?  You were the one to show me that anger was dangerous."  After that Itzal charged at the shaman who looked up at the player charging him.  This time he did nothing...  Until Itzal was upon him.  Itzal tried to strike him but the shaman used his staff to block the attack, which surprisingly didn't break.  Itzal struck again and again but the shaman parried each and every blow.  Itzal leaped back as it was clearly not working.  When he saw the monsters charging Jonathan he rushed to keep them at bay.  He managed to parry, block and shove the goblin warriors away but the tree warrior managed to get past Itzal by...  Splitting itself in half, throwing it's top half over Itzal's blade and reuniting again?  Itzal took a moment to stare at the monster with confusion for half a second.

Jonathan heard Itzal speak about anger and controlling. He had helped Itzal learn that. He stopped in his tracks for a minute. He flashed back for a moment, the relentless attacks of Ulises on the second floor. Itzal had gone from compltely wiping out the first round, to iterally destroying him the next. It was such long ago, right after they had met. It was strange to look back all the there. Such a long time ago. He snapped from his confusion and calmed his breathing. "Alright Itzal." He darted forward. His weapon blazed a brilliant blue and he slashed through the shaman's body. It cried out in pain, and began to bawl. What was wrong with it? He had brought it within range for Itzal to kill. If only the man could get in a decent hit. "Itzal, switch over to them AoE attacks!" He felt his battle healing mend his wounds and he waited to see what would happen next.

Itzal watched as Jonathan stopped for a moment to think before he calmed himself.  He then charged at the shaman and knocked him down another bar.  When he did that feeling that Jonathan and Itzal received every time they dropped it's health down another hundred health was far stronger.  This time instead of passing through it lingered, coursing immense pain through both players.  Itzal grimaced before he looked back up at the Shaman and charged forward.  As he charged the Shaman and the tree soldier attacked Jonathan.  He released Shadow Explosion this time, lashing out at the shaman and his four minions, cutting up the tree warrior and ending with the Shaman, thrusting his blade up his shoulder.  The Shaman stopped moving and fell against Itzal.  "I am...  Sorry."  Itzal nodded slowly before letting the Shaman down to the ground slowly.  He didn't seem to be dead despite it's health having hit zero.  The king growled in annoyance.  The shaman was good for nothing.  "Guards!  Kill them!!!"  The guards charged forward and struck Jonathan while the king got up from his throne, showing how huge he was, and ran out of the hall to escape.  Giving the 'this isn't over' look.

Jonathan watched as Itzal made the final charge on the shaman, impaling the creature with his weapon. A dark force was released, damaging him with increasing pain. The room was cold for a few seconds, before the king stood. He ordered his guards to kill him, and began to retreat at superhuman speeds. Itzal set the shaman down to the ground, which was weird as it should have been dead. The guards charged him, striking his body and bringing his health quite low. He growled, and thrust his shield into the nose of one of the goblins before proceeding to slash it apart. His health was still low, even after regen. 'Alright, fine then' "SOL, HEAL!" The room brightened as warmed as a ball of fiery inferno entered the room, the flames died down to produce a phoenix, no bigger then Velnia. The white-feathered phoenix hovered around Jonathan as i stream of green pixels fluttered from it into his body. His health rised further and the phoenix flew up, surveying the battle-field. "Another AoE, and I can take one of them out!"

Itzal watched as the warriors struck at Jonathan and watched as Jonathan called out a name.  Suddenly a bird flew out of nowhere and flames burst from it's wings.  Velnia's eyes widened and her jaw dropped.  That was an awesome entrance was her first thought.  Her second was that she needed to make an awesome entrance too.  The third was OMG I CAN'T WAIT TO MEET THIS PHOENIX IT'S SO COOL!!!  Velnia  saw Itzal was getting ready to attack so she'd need to meet the familiar some other time.  Itzal nodded as he was going to do that anyways and rushed forward, his sword engulfed in lightning as he released it on the two warriors, one of them falling from his attack.  He landed a critical hit and paralyzed the last one along with applying bleed.  After the attack he leaped back.  "Jonathan the shaman is still alive but something's different.  I think he was being controlled by the king and we stopped the spell.  He might be willing to help us."

Jonathan watched as Itzal and Velnia attacked the two remiaining warriors, bringing one to death, and the other down quite far. Jonathan smiled. "No worries, I got it" It tried to look brave in front of him, but without any friends or allies, it was nothing. Jonathan charged forward, making one uppercut up its chest, which sealed the deal. It fell and shattered, leaving Jonathan, Sol, Itzal, and Velnia alone in the boss room. "Well, that was rather fun. I say we take the shaman away from here. That goblin King might be going back for reinforcements. We did dissaray and destroy his army, and his little village" He chuckled and sheathed his weapon, moving over the shaman. "A shaman under a spell... How ironic. You figured it would fight back, but I guess its purposes would be nature magic, not battle"

Itzal watched as Jonathan finished off the last goblin and nodded at Jonathan's statement.  "Yeah it's not usual a boss is difficult.  Yeah I can carry him.  Could you lead in case any more monsters decide to cut us off?"  Itzal lifted the Shaman up and hoisted him over his shoulder and stood up straight.  "Velnia would you mind grabbing his staff?"  Velnia tore her eyes away from the new familiar and snatched the staff and took flight beside Itzal.  "Let's go before those reinforcements you mentioned get back.  Also, I think you're right.  We can ask him details after we get him to safety.  Also, you got a phoenix?  What enhancement does it have, and may I ask it's name?"  Itzal loved talking about stats, strategies and other things of the like.  He couldn't help it.  It was something he enjoyed going over battle plans and such.  Which is one of the reasons he went to the boss meetings.  He felt they didn't go over all of the fine details the thought they did and when they went to battle they were too late to do anything about it.

Jonathan watched as Itzal scooped up the shaman, telling Jonathan to lead the way. He nodded and unsheathed his sword again, to race down the hall opposite the one they came in. Itzal remained behind him, but the man seemed to be intrigued with the flaming bird the lit the way in front of them. "Ummm... Her name is Sol. She is a healing familiar as you might have seen in battle. I have only got her upgraded to rank two as I hardly ever require her in battle" They made a right turn, and seen a door up ahead. 'That must be the way out' He moved to the door, but his familiar made another turn, as if it knew the way to go for some reason. "What are you doing Sol?" The halls began to get brighter, but also colder for some reason. the walls and floors began to become made of stone with runes inscribed in each of them. "Those are Nordic runes" Jonathan said cautiously, his head hurting a bit form remembering all the things he was told to learn from his father. "Di Immortals, Where are you taking us Sol?" They finally entered the room, where a large blue crstal laid in the center of a platform. The room was quite large and the platform lay, caught in the air. Floating. The crystal gave off a eerie light, ensuring they knew what was causing it. "This is ancient magic or technology here" "Qui fecit Hoc?' Seeing the runes, had appeared to trigger his old latin memory. 'Using two languages again? That is going to cause some more problems.... This time more than the first'

Itzal listened as Jonathan explained the phoenix.  So it's name was sol huh?  "Healing familiar then?  Phoenix tears heal so it makes sense.  Also now that you've got a familiar, Velnia will want play dates."  Velnia bobbed her head up and down almost too fast to see, obviously excited to interact with this new familiar their old friend had received.  Itzal thought about it.  "While you may not need her in battle often, with her maxed out and maxing out battle healing you'll pretty much make yourself invincible Jon.  I have to admit I find that pretty cool."  Itzal scanned the walls as they ran and heard Jonathan's comment, nodding.  "Yeah your right.  A- wait a minute.  Di immortals?  Either you've read Percy Jackson once too many...  Or you spoke Latin."  Itzal had always been rather good with languages and while he didn't speak latin fluently, he could translate it rather fast.  At Jonathan's mention of there being ancient magic or technology Itzal caught up with him and was right beside him.  "Or it could be both, who knows?  The King might have been having the shaman try mixing magic with technology for all we know."

Jonathan shrugged at the mention of maxing out battle-healing and his familiar. He shrugged. "One problem with him. He, uh, only can be used occasionally. Long cool-down. And he can't heal others. Which is something that needs to be fixed!" He sighed and looked around the room, admiring the architecture in it all. "Coboli possum hoc facere" He grunted as he realized that he spoke in latin and immediately slammed his fist into his head. "Excuse me, what I meant to say was Goblins can't have done this. This is more Dwarven. That is why the stones are in Nordic symbols" Itzal mentioned something about his words and he grimaced. "My stupid dad made me learn Latin from a young age. He said many ancient texts and observations were recorded in Latin. He was obsessed with older technology and was rich so he could just go around and leave me somewhere for weeks with the maids and servants." Footsteps were heard outside the room approaching fast. Jonathan grabbed his friend and pushed him onto the platform. Even though the were standing still in the air, they were fine. He tapped the crystal. Nothing happened. Jonathan thought for a second and shoved the Shaman's hand into the crystal. A burst of blue energy shot outwards from the crystal. As it got far enough out, it began to envelope the platform and they shot up.

Itzal listened to Jonathan's words before nodding.  "True, but it's a good back up in case you're health ever reaches to an overly critical level.  Anyways it's nice to meet you Sol.  This is Velnia my familiar.  I'm sure Jonathan told you all about her."  Then Jonathan spoke in latin again and Itzal translated it, not instantly but swiftly enough.  Before he could reply however Jonathan went ahead and translated.  "Yeah I know what you said.  I may not speak it fluently but I know enough to get by.  If I had paper and pencil I could translate anything though.  Japanese is the only language I actually speak.  I just memorized the other languages for translational purposes."  Jonathan spoke about his father and it was rather clear they had a falling out.  Not only that but he had plenty of time to spend with the maids and servants.  "I admit I wouldn't like that kind of life either.  Although I'd say that losing both parents at a young age and being stranded in a country that's not your own isn't a great option to.  And no, Goblins didn't build this.  My guess is they moved in here after the Dwarves left.  More than likely they're trying to catch up with the dwarves level of technology."  As the platform rose Itzal looked at Jonathan.  "We may have yet another mystery, but at least this time we have a source of information."

Jonathan watched as Itzal introduced himself to Sol and introduced his familiar as well. Sol bowed respectfully and looked over to the dragon. The flames died down for a moment, allowing the dragon to come closer. Jonathan was pleased to hear tha tItzal could at least understand a few things that he was saying in Latin. "Well, I am going to have to do a ton of meditation to get the Latin out of head." The thing began to go slowly up, the goblins below them looked up angrily, others were accidentally pushed into the abyss below. "Something else is down there" He muttered to himself. Itzal hinted a bit at his own life an then continued to add to the story they were unraveling. 'Goblins trying to advance? Not sure if that is a good thing' "What if perhaps the Goblins chase the dwarves out, due to their sheer numbers, keeping them on a constant move. The smartest of the goblins are going to have figured out quite a bit of architecture." He grimaced and watched as the platform stopped moving up, and a door opened forward. The two stepped out and the familiars flew out. As they did, a dark iron door shot up, preventing entrances. Slowly, plants and vines began to cover the doorway until there was no door seen. "That is advanced"

Itzal chuckled when Jonathan mentioned that he needed to get the latin out of his head.  Itzal didn't mind latin.  Especially now actually.  "It might be good to keep that knowledge in hand a little longer due to us being in a video game with lots of lore leading back to times where latin was common speech.  Although If you'd like, I can use that knowledge instead of you.  I've always been good at languages."  Velnia watched as Sol was allowing Velnia to come closer.  The flames wouldn't have harmed her anyways with her scales, and she hovered beside Sol and sniffed the bird.  After doing so she grinned at the phoenix in an adorable manner asking for him to be her friend.  Itzal heard his theory on the Dwarves and Itzal shook his head.  "I don't think so, though that is a possibility.  You saw how that crystal only reacted from the shaman?  My guess is that the Dwarves had magic before the goblins, who only have it from reading whatever books the Dwarves left behind.  More than likely the Dwarves moved because of a lack of resources we don't yet know was available.  Seeing all this advanced technology and magic, the Dwarve's could have easily taken out all of the goblins in one go.  My question is this:  Why didn't they?"

Jonathan grimaced as Itzal said something he really didn't want to hear. "I guess I can keep the Latin around. I'll just try to keep it under control" He sighed and began to walk through the area. "Where should we take the shaman? The guild hall?" The guildhall would probably not be the best place for a mob, as it would be hunted quickly by Beatbox and Hikoru. Itzal was still focused upon the mystery behind it all. "So, yo are telling me Dwarves also have access to magic? It makes sense, but they almost have endless abilities for their machines. There is no way anything would stand up to them. They can probably craft demonics or unique items" That would be a little scary to try and keep under control. Then Tzal asked the key question. Why did they not destroy the goblins as they began to pillage their machines and mechanisms. "Itzal. We know the dwarves are great thinkers and planners. What if they WANT the goblins to advance and gain access to all of this stuff. What if they feel like there was some advantage to it, or or that there was something they would get out of it?" Jonathan left that still and walked beside Itzal. Their journey had come far.

Itzal shook his head at the mention of the guild hall.  "No.  While I'm sure we can keep the Shaman alive by keeping him tied up and have a note for players who see him, I don't want anyone else involved in this quest of ours.  Especially with it getting this weird...  And dangerous.  And yeah, there may be no limit to what the dwarves can do.  Who knows?  Their lore may be a combination of multiple stories and books.  In Narnia there were no better archers than dwarves.  In Lord of the Rings they weren't just master smiths, but excellent close range fighters.  In Skyrim they were masters of technology.  In Eragon they rode huge rams as steeds.  Who knows what they may have this time around?"  Then he mentioned that there was another possibility.  When he shared it Itzal's heart skipped.  "To be honest, if that's the case I really don't want to know why they'd want the goblins to advance.  In every lore they are stubborn and almost never share anything.  It is extremely rare for something like that to happen.  Although there could be an advanced strategist.  Maybe-"  When the doors opened he shielded his eyes from the daylight and looked to @Morgenstern
