Should you choose to inspect it further, you will realize that it is a shop. A sign hangs above the doorway and on it is a name: Honeydew & Hushwind. It is difficult to put a finger on the style of architecture; however, it almost looks like the home of a fairy or some other type of magical being. The front porch has a few healthy, potted plants. There is a wooden chair beneath a line of lanterns, hinting that perhaps the owner likes to sit outside at nightfall, enjoying the stillness of the forest. Perhaps you choose to take a look inside. If you open the door, a bell will ring, alerting the owner. A man will peek out from behind a study dressed in an outfit that resembles a quaint bookstore owner or an academic. He has grown quite fond of sweaters, you see and tends to wear them even on warm days. His taste in music is a little old-fashioned with a whole lot of soul. You can hear it from the other room. His hair is either neatly styled or left to its own devices, depending on the day of the week. He greets you with a smile, permitting you to gander at his wares at your leisure. If appraisal or junk sales are your interest, he will help you with those at the counter when you are ready. The shop is cozy and full of life. The flowers and plants that line the shelves and countertops are each unique. It is likely that you have never heard of many of them; the owner takes pride in his collective nature and knack for hunting rare things. Faded browns, blues, reds, and greens can be found around the shop. Various weapons, armor, and elixirs are also displayed and frequently sold to players who do not wish for or require customization of their wares. The store is open many days a week and seems to appear to you when you need it most—whether you are a customer or a lost soul, wandering through the endless forests, unsure of where to go next. He tipped his chair backward, feet crossed over the edge of the table, and scribbled some notes on a pad of paper. Hubert Sumlin rang out loudly, the small study filled with slow sounds of his melodic guitar. He sat back up and tossed his notepad aside, tapping along with the music against the wood of the table. In front of the blonde lay three items: a trinket, a consumable, and a weapon. He intended on identifying them today. She was made of pure nothing, after all, and quite prideful about it. Not much bigger than a housecat, but lacking the telltale ears. Hers were smaller and rounder, tucked in close to her head and blending in with the rest of her inky body. Only her brilliant azure eyes revealed her presence, distinct in that their irises were slotted on the horizontal. Definitely not a cat, but a mongoose of the shadow variety. She sniffed at the air and slunk about the place in silence, sneaking and inspecting to make sure it was safe. Or, to claim any available snacks. There had to be perks for the scout, after all. After a minute, the gentle jingle of the bell tolled upon entry of her master. If she's been in here this long, the risks were tolerable, or she needed saving, or she'd found snacks and her usefulness as a scout was at an end. They both knew the drill. Tall and lanky, the man's gear matched his unruly mop of black. Cobbled together from various suits and outfits, it looked like heavily patched and customized travel wear. One couldn't tell where any single piece started and ended, like a genuine 3D puzzle turned into clothes. Trying to stare at and figure it out only manifested migraines. The fellow wearing it was pale, his face remarkable only by its plain-ness and tucked beneath a fine cloth cowl that formed so well as to seem to be part of him. "This can't possibly be it," he expressed, quietly, doubt laden in skepticism and deep fried with a special blend of herbs and spices to grate precisely as intended. "It's too clean! When have you ever seen an appraiser's shop look this organized?!" His diminutive companion must have raised one invisible eyebrow, just by the shifting shapes of its eyes. The look heralded something about pots and black kettles. A glowing screen appeared between them as the master subtly blocked his familiar's accusatory gaze, falsely confirming that this was indeed the place. "Wasn't Morningstar that dude from the place, with the thing?" No one was around to answer, other than same figure he'd deliberately tuned out. "Yeah. Valentines dueling or something. Doesn't matter. He seemed like the type to have a decent head on his shoulders. Must have, if he chose this profession. It's not exactly for the lazy or faint-hearted." Peering around a nearby corner, Freyd found the fellow he'd been seeking sound asleep at his workbench. A rare smile creased his lips at the image, fondly recalling how many times Quip or Dingo had found him in the same position. "He's in here, Persi. Show him the goods if you please, and not too harshly." Still busy preening herself, the inky mongoose rolled her slotted eyes at her bothersome lummox of a companion before rising back to her feet and stretching long and lanky limbs along with her arched back. So troublesome, she surely thought. Hopping silently to the tabletop and settling into a prim and proper pose, she gazed sympathetically at the dozing shop owner. Blinking once, she then suddenly barfed a giant pool of nothingness right by his head that instantly vaporized to reveal a heaping clatter of clinking containers all over his worktable. The man's tiny black terror returned to licking her paw as if nothing at all had just happened, then slunk away into her owner's slender shadow. "Good morning, my dear fellow. Do you know you're in a PK zone? Thought I'd better come and let you know, and also off you a proposition. This should cover the related costs." In a state of delirium, he took turns glancing between the man, the mongoose, and the various random items that had been placed in front of him. He must have dozed off; business was slow. For once, he had opted to leave his music off. The chirping of birds in the trees above reverberated through the forest, although not in an obnoxious way. Morningstar found it soothing and it was probably part of the reason he had so unexpectedly fallen asleep. While it may not have been immediately clear where from, he recognized the man in his shop as someone he knew. He even remembered the name of the fellow: Freyd. It was funny, Morningstar thought, that he could pick out names and faces so easily while forgetting everything else entirely. He tried to listen through his sleepiness as Freyd spoke. "PKers need appraisers too," a small grin grew on his face, "they'd never kill one. Thanks for waking me up, though." He picked through the goods gently so as not to damage any. There was nothing in particular that stood out to him; it was the number of items that he found interesting. The col that Freyd left with the goods did more than, as he put it, "cover the costs". "you live here? or do you just work here?" the store was grand – and night was envious, but of the building and much less so the neighbourhood. clearing her throat, and hoping she wasn't dealing with any tricky cardinal pawn, she pulled out a case full of several items, eying the information board. not at max yet. "well, this should help you." night pushed it closer to him, the crate feeling heftier than expected. "um. call it an exchange for pointing me in the right direction to get out of here?" When they came, he welcomed them (although, it was rarely on purpose) and when they did not, he was just fine. He opened the store in the middle of no where specifically because of how tranquil it was. Monsters were scarce, if any showed themselves at all. People were scarcer, which made it easy for him to work. That's why he opened H&H in the first place: he wanted space to focus. His home was for living and playing—a work-free zone, so to speak. The spacious cabin in the woods was complimentary to the way he lived. Morningstar was surprised when @NIGHT showed up out of the blue. The bell above the front door chimed, alerting him of his guest. "Oh, hey." She was lost in the woods, of course, and found her way to him. It had happened before, to others. He often wondered what they would have done before he set up there. "Work. Mostly. There's a bed in the back," he chuckled. She dropped off a crate full of various things in need of appraisal. It seemed like it consisted entirely of consumables. "North until you see the bee hive. Then, turn right and walk straight for a while. There's a cave—don't go inside. Bear lives there. Go left. "right. got it. ... thanks." the realization that she'd said something a little strange struck her quick. why did she ask that? night waved it away. "err— you know what? don't even answer that. the bear thing. weird question to ask." when star regarded her, it prompted night to notice, too, that she hadn't even greeted the other player in her arrival. to his doorstep. good thing she hadn't actually met oberon, or a literal other fae — surely she would've been minced meat by now. or something of the sort. "yes," she nodded, appreciative. "good to see you, too. a sight for sore eyes. ...literally." the woman pointed towards the wild. "there's a whole lot of greenery out there and i'm really starting to miss the settlements." night started trudging towards the door, speaking over her shoulder, starting to feel a little more comfortable now that she knew the way home.
