“You almost lost me?” Alinta shook her head. “You… You were the one being hurt. Hurt by my weapon. Jack.” She snapped. Alinta stood at the door. “I…” Alinta turned away from him. Drawing a long deep breath. It was clear that he was still struggling, barely able to lift his arms. She contemplated leaving then and there, but that would be selfish. Instead Alinta padded quietly across the floor, back toward Scar, barely letting their eyes meet. Too afraid that if they did, she would crumble. Instead, Alinta focused on pushing the bedside table closer, within his reach. Another cup of green t

[PP-F11] Jack be Nimble, Jack be Quick
Vex Vexxus replied to Vex Vexxus's topic in Intermediate Floors
I hadn't the faintest clue what Alice initially saw in this man. He seemed so uptight, so boring. So rigid and set in his ways. "Such a prison..." I said with a sigh. My initial excitement at messing with the man was beginning to dwindle. I could just stab him and send him on his merry way - the thought of his crystal turning from green to orange as he helplessly attacked the first player he sees ….there was a delight in that… “If she doesn’t tickle your fancy… why the interest?” But would the enhancement hold long enough for him to do so? I wasn’t sure. “Hmmm….Hmmm…” Distracted -
A flash of a crystal had whisked the pair away, leaving them both to live another day. Tybalt grimaced against their escape, moving around the now empty landscape A roaring delight mixed with a raging wrath, having been denied a pending bloodbath. The man would turn and see his fair son, who had come fast before they had run. "Thank you my dear boy, for dealing with those ignorant fools.... Troubling your sister with all their DAMN RULES." Releasing his mask he'd hurry his scamper, all to the tune of hideous laughter. For in their haste they had muttered a phrase, the location o

Mari visibly bristled, body tensing almost like a cat - as Sin took away her much needed catharsis in the form of straight alcohol. Everyone around her was relaxed, and having fun but Mari was struggling to fit into the vibe. The other woman commented on wanting to join and Mari turned her attention away to catch the other shot Warren slid back to her, downing it instantly. It didn't help that Oscar said Mari didn't have the 'juice' not even together. Mari had wanted to hold her tongue, to be a little more proper and at least respect her friends wishes, of not sharing his sexual dalliances, bu

Wato jeered, providing Fang with an introduction only he could've come up with. Jokes aside, it was clear how Wato felt about Fang and that, no matter how the rest of the group felt about her, she was going to be along for the ride. Luckily for the rest of them, she would prove valuable in due time. Wato's explanation and introduction for Fang was good enough for now. Most of them understood loss and understood what it meant to find someone… be it a friend or something more. Luke and Aisha weren’t going to stand in the way of that and the way they saw it, the more the merrier, as there wa

"If you had," Sin said, intercepting one of the shots that Warren slid over to Mari. She locked eyes with the red-head, maintaining eye contact as she downed it. She gingerly placed the glass onto the countertop and finally fanned out her cards. As she plucked three from her hand and tossed them over to Warren, she looked up at Oscar and smirked. "I'd be very offended you didn't call. You look like a hell of a lay. And I'm pretty certain we might finally make our esteemed host weak in the knees." "Ladies," Oscar said simply. "You don't have the juice. Not even together." Warren looke

“Cavern of Faeries, huh?” Sin tapped her chin with her finger, crossing the opposite arm over her chest. “That would put it on… Floor Three, then. You ever used a Teleport before?” She didn’t mean to be condescending, but Plum was clearly out of her element - by her own admission. She didn’t know what game mechanics that Plum knew or didn’t know about. Well there was a first time for everything. And Sin was happy to be the Clippy to her Microsoft Word. “Here, this way,” she said as she tilted her head towards the central plaza. Heels clacked against the cobblestones as they made

Plum watched Sin make her great show of bravado, a hint of incredulity slipping through the tired edges of the former's expression. "For the record, my knees were not about to buckle," she said dryly, evidently a little offended by the remark. A pause. She could quip further about not being a damsel in distress -at least, not in instances of social rejection- but to appear spiteful to the woman offering her help was not in her best interests, nor those of the missing players. She needed to segue back to the matter at hand. "I was simply.. biding my time. Re-evaluating my choices. Which now inc

"You can't just stay." “As I please, remember?” Oscar responded. He kept his vigil, his knee bent. She could push him away, if she wanted. And he was terrified that she would. That all of this was for naught. That he would break down whatever tower she isolated herself in and not even be afforded the opportunity to help her pick up the pieces. That she would, when confronted with her storm in all its terrifying majesty, flee from his sight. In his heart of hearts, he didn’t know whether he would be able to suffer that guilt. "You think this is what I need? To cry like a child until

"Next time, let me eat the cherry." Vitalis grinned. "Understood." He was out of his element as Arsine took the lead on the dance floor. Guiding him through the steps, where to place his hands. All the while commanding his attention. She was a very effective instructor. He found himself impressed. The subtlety of her movements were not lost on him. Placing the pair in the stranger's orbit as she walked him through the method. Vitalis nodded along, focused. Fixated. A puzzle to solve. A tactic to employ. Framing it in such a way helped it all come to him so much easier. "Feel tha

“I got to see dragons, today. I wish you were with me. The people I was with were.. Jaded? I think that’s a good word. They – they aren’t like me. They didn’t break down when all this started. They didn’t fail, not like me. They kept going. Fought for, what, years, now? Not like my pathetic ass, coming into the game late and still feeling like I can somehow help. They’ve been up there, on what we call the front lines, putting their lives at stake to try getting everyone out.” Reytac rubbed his face, his shoulders slumped down as he talked. At first he’d been a little excited, falling into his

Jack blinked slowly as Alinta tore a small piece of bread and pressed it gently on his lips. The smell hit him first, warm, savory, familiar. Katsu.. His mind tripped over the word, reaching for a memory that refused to form. He hadn't tasted one in what felt like forever, but the flavor, the crisp batter, the tang of sauce, filled the silence like sunlight through fog. "It's like we're sort of on a picnic together," he murmured, a faint smile tugging at the corner of his lips. The words escaped him before he realized how fragile they sounded. The room was too still, too gentle for the wo

Halloween night. Reytac had gone around to various haunted houses, saying hello to some others – he’d even managed to meet one of his guild mates without realizing it. But now, the night was done, and he was sitting at his work table, nursing a drink slowly. Aphrael was out, flying around, so he was utterly by himself as he sat at the table. “I hate this. I hate not being able to spend tonight with you. In-we should be watching horror movies and snuggled up under a blanket together, right now. I hate that I missed your birthday, again.” He took a long, slow drink from his drink – he didn’

Vex's laughter grated against his nerves, but Jack didn't flinch. He held his ground, eyes narrowing beneath the shadow of his bangs. When the jester finally spoke, voice dripping with mockery, "Ohh, does she tickle your fancy?" Jack's response was immediate, flat. "Tickle my fancy? No." No hesitation. No humor. His tone carried the weight of someone who'd seen enough madness to know better than to joke. Then came the next wave, sing-song words that twisted through the forest air, manic and bright. "Ahh. She slipped so perfectly into wonderland, Oh Alice!" Jack's jaw t

Reytac sat at his work table, one elbow planted on the wood and his chin propped in his palm. He was watching Aphrael, his new raven familiar, bounce around the workshop with short little hops, her beak pecking at the little tools and chains that he had scattered around the room. She was pecking at anything that caught her eye, and Reytac was content to just watch her. “She’d love you, Aphrael.” The raven turned her head to look at him with one eye, the liquid orb shimmering under the light filtering through his window. Reytac managed a weak smile as he pressed on. The panic attack that C

Reytac staggered into his home, exhaustion settling over his shoulders like a heavy blanket. He had made sure Teion got home safely, her significant other taking her with a grateful expression as Reytac helped him get her inside. She’d sobered up some after their trek through the stormy 29th floor, but not enough where Rey had felt safe letting her travel back alone. No, going home, alone, was his burden to bear. He closed the door behind him and slumped against it, the rough wood of the door scratching at his back as he let his breath out in a sharp gasp. Talking with Teion had been – ca

A different day. Reytac staggered into his workshop and slumped down onto his bench, holding his right hand against his left shoulder, cursing out loud. He had been trying to do a fight against some of the mobs on one of the later floors – they all started started bleeding together, forest after forest. And he hadn’t been paying attention, when he really should have, his attention on one of the mobs he was fighting, a wolf, and another had leapt from behind him to clamp itaits maw down on his shoulder. He had managed to fight it off, and take them both out, and staggered back to Town

His feet stung slightly as he walked across the rough wooden floor. He hadn’t bothered putting on even socks, or house shoes, instead going barefoot as he trudged towards the kitchen. He came to a stop in front of the sink, and leaned over to turn on the faucet and let it run for a moment. A slow, deep breath, and he cupped water in his hands to splash against his face. One hand reached out and blindly groped to find the hand towel that had been on the counter, and he blotted his face dry after a moment of letting the cold water sit there and drip from his beard and nose. He turned around and

Reytac groaned as a soft alarm rang out, dragging him out of his sleep. He swatted blinding out, shutting off the alarm, then rolled over to wrap his arm around her. His arm settled around her waist and he buried his nose in the hair at the back of her neck, drawing in a deep breath – and sneezing, violently, as the smell of pine overwhelmed him. He sat up abruptly, his heart hammering in his chest, as he blinked the last dregs of sleep out of his eyes. She wasn’t there, he’d just been wrapping his arms around the pillows that he’d shoved down the side of the bed, to fill the spot where she sh

’Are you still enjoying yourselves?’ The sound of Nemo’s voice caused both to look back suddenly, startled by his quiet appearance in their immediate vicinity. Nari cursed herself for not being more aware. Though nothing terrible had occurred, she knew better than to let her guard down – even if the area was relatively calm and safe. Dangers could present anywhere, and considering that she wasn’t alone, that only meant she would let more than herself down. ’Well enough so, thanks Nemo. Just relaxing and enjoying everything the garden has to offer.’ Onora glanced up and smiled at the man a -

’Firstly, the waters here don’t go rancid like you’d expect, so that wouldn’t be a problem.’ Nari wrinkled her own nose as she spoke, though in more of a comedic mimicry of the other woman, than in any form or appearance of disgust. ’And secondly, I’d be maintaining it fairly often, so it wouldn’t get to smell that bad to begin with!’ ’Sure, like you clean the kitchen area, right?’ The words were a jest, but as Nari glanced over, she couldn’t help but wonder if her lack of assistance and general help in the kitchen wasn’t secretly bothering Onora. She knew better than to ask outright – th
