  1. POst action: Gathering materials After ripping up that clump of grass Mari decided to do it again. Because thats what one does when they do these relentless gathering quests - they waste time by ripping up clumps of grass and watching it flutter by in the wind. Wow this game felt so real huh? Even the blades of grass left that slightly itchy feeling on your hand when you played around in it a little too much. Mari pulled up even more lumps of grass to reveal a nice clean patch of dirt, and in that patch of dirt she started to dig using her hands because what else was she suppo
  2. Post Action: Gathering Materials Mari walked outisde because outside is outside yanno how its the opposite of indoors well this was outdoors so after stepping over that threshold and being from indoors to outdoors mari was now outdoors. And do you know what people do outdoors? They get hit by the sun, oh wow the sun is so nice and warm mm yes. Mari closed her eyes and thought about how amazing the sun was on her skin because she was in prison or something for like two years and when you are in prison for two years you don't get to see the sun on your face or feel the sun on your face
  3. Post Action: Talking to Malachi Since the updates; Mari knew she wanted to take the Artisan quest; it'd help with her tinkering. Granted she didn't feel like the boon of system assisted crafting really suited her - but at the same time. If it helped... if it gave her the ability to be able to fix things in her workshop without having to reach out to Atan - well... that would be for the best. Mari wanted to keep her word to Freyd, and the more she thought about it. The more she realized that she was naive to think the man was some form of doctor. He was a chemist, and Aincrad was his playg
  4. Standard Recovery +4 EN, Inspirational {Shiina} +4 EN, Hyperactive +3 EN, Hyperactive Duration [1/3] Small clanking pieces of armour stood beside a set of etheral wolves - beyond that - the biggest of all. A large guardian with fire for eyes - its billowing form barely held together beneath a tattered brown cloak. Mari slammed the blunt end of her halberd against the ground to get its attention. Its head whipped to her. "I call dibs on the big one." With a flick of her wrist she wrapped the garrote wire around the handle of her blade. "Stand back please, first time tryi
  5. Standard Recovery +4 EN, Inspirational {Shiina} +4 EN Another round of attacks passed in a blurred flury, turns shifted - enemies slain and the dull thunks of weapons into digital flesh. Mari gave a small nod to Nisahime - when she asked if Mari remembered. "Yeh. I do." Mari didn't mean to brush off the other woman with such a curt reply - she was just busy. Mari took a step back so Shiina could run forward into the fray, and ducked under another weapon as it was swung in the small hallway. The space was small, difficult for Mari to be able to fight properly in - still. She'd make use o
  6. "Guess that makes you the fruity patootie." Mari stared at Raidou, confused. "W-what?" She turned her eyes to the others, some seemingly much more serious than others. "I ...suppose I can be?" Mari said - not used to the juxposition and mixture of free spirited fighters and serious ones all smashed together in a small dungeon. Mari trailed along behind Raidou, close to him. "So..who are-" her eyes shifted to Nisahime. That person. "She has a regular one today." Mari commented. "Last time - 'twas blue. Nisahime. RIght?" It was said with a slight smile, an attempt to connect to anothe
  7. There was something so incredibly heartwarming about watching him move around the basement. The way he’d tap his lips when he spoke, the furrow of his brow. Mari wondered if he noticed that he would tap his index finger lightly against his thumb when his gears were turning. Or how his lips would move wordlessly, as though his voice couldn’t keep up with his thoughts. Mari watched the man and found it difficult to accept just how much she adored him. How easily he had neatly wrapped himself up in the empty spaces in her heart. Igniting emotions that Mari thought were long dead. In such a short
  8. Chaos was a mother fucking understatement. Raidou appeared and immediately summoned his weapon, Mari fumbled a moment before doing the same. A hand held out to her side, and with a flash of white a halberd appeared in Mari's hand, black handle and dark blade that dripped a black miasma. Tiny bubbles floated around it, and would pop - the liquid hissing as it hit the ground. She'd taken part in a ....what did people call it? A scrimmage? That sounded right. She took part in a scrimmage against the colossal crab before but it was nothing like this. Players threw themselves at it from ever w
  9. An invitation from one of the very precious few Mari trusted. The promise of Col. Something Mari never really cared for in her past - but now something she needed in spades. Having a man who could torch the very ground he walked upon for getting a little too heated, too excited had its drawbacks. Fireproofing an entire home is costly. Wanting to give someone the world meant one had to have the world first. Mari arrived at the beach on time, but found little more than some oddly displaced pink petals in the air. Mari reached out and plucked one. She rolled it around between thumb and foref
  10. The Knight's image flickered, and turned into something that looked like Hirru. Mari rubbed her eyes, her world span - a disorientating mess. Mari activates her charge skill—her halberd crackling to life with arcs of black lightning as she bolts forward. The frozen ground shudders beneath each step, and her war cry cuts through the stale dungeon air. She lunges, aiming to pierce through the armor of the looming shadow knight. Mari felt like it smiled at her from behind its visage - but it was just a feeling...creeping up her consciousness just like every other thing did on this damnable floor.
  11. Mari wasn’t privy to the words exchanged between Lancaster and Freyd. It was a conversation they had before she came back inside. Worry bubbled up inside her. She could take a guess, and it wasn’t pleasant. Mari offers Lancaster a worried glance as words spilt forth from him like a fountain. Lifting a bound hand to gently brush his cheek, unlike him Jubilex allowed her movement - though its inky black tendrils still curled tightly around her fingers in a quiet warning as if to say ‘don’t give these to him’ Mari wouldn’t. Although in the moments that followed she was tempted to do so. To rip a
  12. POST ACTION: TAKE A DRINK: ID:248654 LD: 3 -Warm sake Mari somehow, somehow felt like she was the most sober of the three - despite having drunk quite a lot - maybe its because she stopped? Arcanthus was still drinking heavily and Mari couldn't help but feel a little worried for the brunette. They now sat in the bar - if one could call it that, the wood was fetid and rotten around them, storm clouds ruptured above with a thunderous cry - an oncoming sign of rain. Mari winced. She didn't want to be here when it started. “In… Indubit…Dubital…. Yea, it’s drinking time.” Ma
  13. Hidden reacted just as Mari had expected, most people Mari had told seemed completely shocked at the revelation that anyone could imprison her, let alone that she was being targeted in the first place. The sharp turn almost caused Mari to bump into Hidden. Her eyes were wide with a kind of hurt shock. “Imprisoned?” Mari nodded and reached out to place a comforting hand on her shoulder, more questions came. Mari was ready to answer them then and there on that quaint little path that lead to a vine encrusted home nestled away from the world in its own special corner, but Hidden wasn't having it
  14. Hiddens breath hitched, and with trembling hands she returned Mari's embrace. Her fingers gripped Mari's shirt tight, like a lifeline. As though Mari would disappear if she were to let go for even a second. Mari felt a little guilty at that. Being imprisoned meant she had no way of messaging anyone - she had no clue if Hidden had tried, and her calls for aid or advice, or company had gone unanswered. Had she reached out? if so...how many times went unanswered? Messages lost to the void? Another small squeeze before Mari let go, her hands lingered on Hiddens shoulders. "I suppose the matching c
  15. 'Ma... Ma...' Mari paused mid-step at the odd utterance, it caught her off guard. A certain kind of chill hit her stomach. her brow furrowed as she turned over her shoulder gaze falling on the silver haired woman. She was about ready to chastise her, Mari wasn't a mother. Not anymore. Mari had many people call her that in the past, players who - for some reason had looked up to her, or found solace in her. But that was so long burried in her past. Once upon a time Mari played into it, almost needed the validation - after having lost her own daughter but the weight of that pressure got to
  16. As Oscar spoke to his two...students? Friends? As Oscar spoke to both Lysette and Abellio Mari leaned toward Oscar, head on his sweaty shoulder. At least the tension was gone now. So it seemed the problem more so stemmed from the fact he didn't warn them about her first? Mari snorted. Yeh, that sounded like Oscar. Orange Players are a little scary, yanno? "More than you know." Her voice quiet, downcast eyes closing with a heavy sigh. All the things she had experienced lately. She was so used to the seedy underbelly of Aincrad that it was hard to forget that it was not the norm. Regul
  17. Mari sighed as she rolled over onto her back, eyes squinting against an all too bright sky above. Clear blue without the reprise of clouds to stem the heat of the sun. Such a vast difference from the floor below. She listened to Freyd. He started talking about tanks, recent raid bosses - mechanics...all things she didn't have too much interest in but did her best to give him the ear that he had given her so many times before. "Must be hard." Was all she could master for the situation. "I got so frustrated...when people I tried to help would leap itno danger." She thought of Yuki, who had one t
  18. "Smart, even. You should keep your guard up around Orange Players. But Mari is a friend. And she needed help with some boss drops. And rather than have to camp the spawn for the next hour, I figured you guys could come help speed things along." "Not wrong." Mari said as Oscar called them both smart for keeping their guard up around her. "Keepin' guard up is good - but being antagonistic, or rude can also....set people off." She spoke from experience, and from current knowledge of the laughing coffin members she had run into as of late. "W-whoaah..." Mari was pulled to the sid
  19. Freyd went on to explain Firm Anima- its branches. What they meant. The guild was far bigger than Jacobs Ladder, and far more refined. He wasn't wrong, most places or people Mari met were in some way related to the guild. It was a powerhouse, and that sort of powerhouse would need strong and dependent leaders. Mari had no question in her mind that Freyd was one of them - and it was probably one of the reasons he was always on the move. Each branch has a captain. Right. "I appreciate you taking the time for me. It means a lot." Mari said in ernest, trying to calm the warbling concern that was b
  20. The place was quiet, out of the way; far enough away from Taft that she wouldn't be a bother to anyone - not along any main trails. Mari had quite literally come across the outskirts of the estate by chance; and the river that ran through it. She was far enough away that she hadn't actually entered any owned land, but was close enough to see the rooftop of whomever lived there. Mari cast her line out with a yawn. Coming back from the higher floors always resulted in her being exhausted. "You're a long way from anywhere. Were the city fish too noisy for you?" "That's the point.
  21. Freyd had a point, why was it a secret? "Hmmm...." Mari crossed her arms over her chest. "I guess. It's as you said, complicated. People talk. I didn't want his past to affect his decisions in the future. I didn't want people to judge him harshly because of it. It was very shitty. It messed me up real bad. One of the reasons I don't really trust people these days." Despite her being completely over the situation, her lack of faith in people was still quite prevalent, although that couldn't be attested to just the amber eyed man. There was a long list of people and events that had contributed t
  22. Right....Freyd had wanted details on his death at one point didn't he? Mari shifted her gaze to him. Would it be fair to tell him their history...then again... was it fair for Mari to have kept that pain all those years? It was a delicate line. "I'm trusting you not to repeat this." Mari said. "But long story short - guy pretended to love me - died - I was incredibly upset - came back - told me it was all a lie - and that was that. We're cool now though, probably." Mari shrugged. "That's the short of it. I'm over it now, obviously. But that lake meant a lot to us, well...I guess just to me ba
  23. . "A favourite past-time? Really? I....actually that's kinda like you." Mari thought it odd that fighting the same boss over and over was a favourite past time for someone ,but at the same time, it was so very typically Freyd. "A lot of people have their home here?" That actually surprised Mari, maybe she had hers further from others? There was something that was once appealing about the floor, it felt like a sort of secret and magical getaway from everything. So when Freyd asked why she wanted to hole up here, she wasn't entirely sure how to answer. There were many reasons. One, he
  24. her joke fell flat, neither one of them seemed to care about her dalliances, it didn't ease any tensions. The woman Lysette had turned to vault straight at the phoenix. Leaving Mari and the redheaded Abellio a moment together. Albellio first addressed Oscar, as though Mari wasn't even there. The word Player Killer dropping from his mouth so callously. Mari couldn't recall the last time someone had treated her like that. Aside from that group of self appointed knights. It was natural though. So she couldn't be mad at him. "I don't know you well enough to tell you." She said, her tone
  25. Oscar reaffirmed that she wouldn't die. "You know..." Mari began as she pulled the scarf completely off her neck. "A few years ago, I'd have said I don't care if I did - but now?" Mari's scarf disappeared into her inventory. "Now, I have people to live for. Things I care about." She said as she fiddled with the ring on her finger. Mari didn't go further, Oscar already knew where her mentality was at a few years ago - and there was no using in beating a dead horse. "Do you know anyone who has attempted it recently?" Mari asked. Freyd seemed to be under the impression it'd be rather difficu
