  1. The glint of the sun off the water hurt her eyes. She squinted against it, wishing she had a pair of her sunglasses. She made a mental note to pick up a pair, if she could find them within Aincrad somewhere. She was amazed she’d made it this far without a pair, something she normally wore anytime she was outside in the real world – and yet, here, she’d never found a cause for them until now. “I don’t see anything…” She growled the words as she looked at the NPC in frustration. The man seemed to ignore her, his own gaze still roaming across the water in search of…well, whatever. “Care to t
  2. She knew she wasn’t released from the fear, but the way in which Pete continued speaking, and the control he showed with just his presence allowed Nari a measure of lesser fear. She could look around, still grabbing at the sides with every sudden jerk of movement, but her heart slowly calming as she spent more time within the boat itself. “Do you see her? She should be here soon…” She’d almost forgotten their purpose for being out here, and as the NPC brought it back to memory, Nari forced her eyes to scan the surface of the water – careful to watch for any sign of movement that would sig
  3. The boat ride was about as comfortable as Nari was expecting. Which is to say, not in the least bit enjoyable. Focusing on her snack until it was gone, she was able to keep her attention away from the life giving, and taking, waters that surrounded them on all sides of the little boat. Once that was completed, however, she had no choice but to glance about and take in their current position – several dozens of metres away from the docks, and slowly distancing themselves. Essentially, a position that made Nari extremely uncomfortable. Her hands locked onto the sides of the boat, she questi
  4. "Yer tellin' me Mayor Dorian's taken to sending players to do his dirty work? Seems wrong that he-" The man stopped mid sentence, his attention drawn by something in the water – something that Nari herself didn’t care to even search for. “There she is!” The sudden shoving of a fishing pole, line and gear into her arms shook Nari from her otherwise calm demeanor. Her mouth opening to complain, she was beaten back as the man spoke overtop of her. "You take that, 'n' I'll grab my harpoon. I can't believe Big Bertha's finally reared her beautiful head! You got any of those potion things? We'l
  5. The docks were about what Nari had expected to find – small, filled with little boats, and smelling of the sea. Everything that Nari disliked, so to speak. At the end of the dock itself stood an older man, rod in hand and the look of someone awaiting their purpose in life. From a distance she could already tell that the man was her intended target, the white beard giving away the same resemblance as the two previously spoken to in the first and second portion of the quest – a clear indication of the ties meant to be. “Let’s just…get this over with, right Yuki?” The fox chittered an a
  6. The Town of Beginnings. She remembered it being…somehow fuller, the last time she was here. Her eyes cast across the relatively empty courtyard, the few players and NPCs moving around the area relatively miniscule compared to the vast open space. Her steps led her down the stairs, her eyes drawn towards everything, taking in the area. The last time she had been here, she had felt a similar feeling – there’d still been some crowds, enough to make it still feel busy. But now…now it felt almost deserted. ‘A ghost town, of sorts.’ She couldn’t deny that it still showed some liveliness; not ev
  7. Nodding to Koga, and a moment later to Cleo as they both stepped down off the teleporter, Nari stood up from the ledge she’d been leaning against – her face stoic as she glanced between the two of them, her eyes cast upwards at their faces. “Thanks for coming. I received this not too long ago –“ A flick of her hand and the message spun for both to read, the redacted name from the sender standing out against the rest of the message. She still hadn’t learnt anything about how that was possible, nor had her attempts to squeeze anything of use out of the personal contact led to anything. “I’v
  8. She’d checked everything, making sure that the decorations weren’t overpowering, that the food was laid out – tables lining the entry hallway, the kitchen table and counters, and even the dining room table. The collection of varying foods – everything from what appeared to be typical Chinese/Japanese dishes, to the Gaelic dishes of her own family, and the numerous egg-based meals in honour of Ēostre. The hallway itself had been lined with the coloured candles – something she’d spent days looking for, the varying colours of the rainbow lighting the hallway in an odd manner. She’d hung the
  9. The frost spread further across the thing as her spear once more punctured it, the frostbite hidden within activating at the contact and cracking away the health and scales of the creature. A quick glance told her that the thing was almost dead. Setting her feet, she decided to go on the offensive, rather than waiting for her damage over time and defensive skills to finish it off fully. Feet sliding on the sand as she tried to find purchase, she raced beneath the thing to its opposite side. The heads lashing out behind her, unable to connect with her exposed back – something Nari was than
  10. Her spear pierced into the snake head as it rushed towards her, catching the creature of guard and causing it to pull back and away as the frost spread from the tip across its scales. She could see the cracking it caused in the thing’s scales, a slight shattering as it spread across one head and towards the main body. Twin hissing sounds erupted across the area as it protested the pain it was receiving. Nari couldn’t help but smile in satisfaction, realising that she was well beyond the halfway point of the fight. ‘All down hill from here, so long as I can keep this up.’ Letting the
  11. A shift, barely noticeable in her crouched position, as Nari took the brunt of the strike upon her shield. The impact alone was enough to knock a couple points off her health bar – quickly recovered thanks to her battle healing skill – but not enough to bring any sense of concern into her mind. Glancing over the shield itself, she could see the damage she’d done to the snake’s other head, the health bar on the creature depleted further and a slice across the second face signifying where her spear had pierced it. Grinning to herself, she shifted herself to the left, repositioning and adopt
  12. The snake had had glazed her as it struck from above, barely catching the edge of her shield and sliding past – but enough to graze the side of her face with its fangs. Nari felt herself recoil, the sudden pump of her heart catching her off guard as her spear managed to puncture the side of its head, causing a tear in its face. Sliding backwards slightly, she gave herself some space – watching as the twin heads ducked and weaved in the air above her, looking or an opening in her defence. Her health already recovered, she danced around a few of its slower strikes, before setting herself in

  14. The studio had been silent for the past few minutes, Nari waiting patiently as NIGHT fiddled with the strap on the guitar, the cords, and just about everything else that would halt her from actually attempting to play the instrument. Leaning against the piano, she smiled - more to herself than to her companion. "If you're ready, I'll start on the melody and keys?" The question, more rhetorical than anything else, was followed by Nari swinging around and onto the bench behind the piano, her fingers splaying out naturally before her humming began. The fingers, following some unseen sign wi
  15. The ding, followed by the flashing icon caught her attention. Her fingers hovering over the piano keys, she cocked her head towards the icon. She knew NIGHT was asleep, so the message couldn’t have come from her. The few others wouldn’t likely be messaging her about anything important – but the icon contained the urgent notification. Curiosity coming over her, she flipped a finger over the notification, bringing up the message in its entirety. Her eyes cast over it quickly, before stopping midway and starting from the beginning. To: Nari-Lanreth From: [redacted] Message: New urge
  16. Her strike slashed across the conjoined section of the main body, and Nari watched as both heads seemed to freeze in midair, their bodies shivering as the stun effect overwhelmed their otherwise constant movement. A quick glance and she realised that there was no chance of her reaching the higher ground. Her position definitely not favourable, she settled into her defensive stance, realising that she’d simply have to survive the assault from above that would occur. The heads slowly began to quiver again, the stun wearing off and the creature returning to life. Knowing her options wer
  17. Her eyes flicked over to NIGHT, mouth opening to say something, before she cocked her head to the left. Her gaze drawn to something behind NIGHT, she lifted a finger and pointed. Her gaze entirely focused on the shimmering spectral in the distance, her desire to rebuttal the remarks entirely forgotten. “I…think that may be it…?” The figure shimmered and disappeared as Nari’s words ended, as if her attention on it had forced it away. “Hey! Wait…!” Her feet moving before she’d even considered the danger in her actions, she rushed over to the spot that the figure had been but a breath before
  18. The rumbling came from behind, that much she was sure of – but exactly where, well that was the question she hadn’t been able to answer. Body posed to continue the climb, spear in hand and shield ready to protect herself, her eyes continued to gaze over the area. It had been almost twenty seconds, she figured. No further rumblings had occurred – but she was relatively certain that Aincrad wasn’t prone to having earthquakes. Nothing broke the horizon, and as her breath released again, after being held for so long, she decided there was nothing further to it. Shifting her weight to complete

  20. As the evening began in earnest, Nari made her way into the studio once more - this time finding NIGHT attending to the keyboard, the notes ringing out against the air in a less than perfect manner. Standing at the door for a few moments, waiting for the other to notice her, she smiled at the attempt. It was clear that the other was untrained, unschool, but the desire was there. "I could teach you, if you wanted..." The words seeming to catch the other by surprise, she leapt from the bench, leaving it behind. A few mumbled words, and Nari took the time to process the request - if it could
  21. The morning sun had just begun to shine through the windows when Nari wandered into the recording studio. NIGHT was already lounging on the bench behind the piano, clearly waiting on her arrival. A brief smile, a finger to lips and she had turned her attention towards getting started. Shuffling onto the bench, she laid out the crystals before her, her fingers sliding across the keys before entering into the songs that she had deemed for the day.
  22. A river. Or, at least, what was once a river. Now it was little more than a gulley that blocked her passage across the otherwise open road. Her eyes shifting to either side, following the track of the riverbed. She could see the village in the distance, still another twenty minutes walk away – assuming she could bypass the giant swathe in the ground somehow, or cross it without worry of not being able to make it back out. Another heavy sigh as she turned and began walking to her right, seeing a dip in the distance that appeared scalable. The ambush earlier had left her on edge, and she st
  23. The sudden quiet as the final creature exploded seemed to hover over Nari. Her eyes cast over the rocky terrain around her, searching for any further ambushes, before eventually realising that she was truly alone, if only for the moment. Sighing, she let herself fall to the ground in a heap – taking bliss in the ability to do nothing more than simply collapse. The fight had taken a lot out of her, and she wanted nothing more than to simply sleep. “Still need to go figure out what sort of creature is pestering this village, though.” She grumbled, the only response a small chirp from Yuki n
  24. This thing just didn’t want to die. Nari glared at the remaining lizard creature, her mouth locked into a tight grimace as she realised she was quickly running out of energy to continue this fight. She needed to end it, and quickly. The growl escaping her lips, she dodged yet another feeble attack from the thing, constantly being driven backwards as she avoided its more futile attempts to connect against her. Spinning, she tried to force her way around to its side, hoping to come into one of the openings it was leaving with its wide, long swings towards her. All without success, as the th
