  1. She’d woken up early that morning, her excitement getting the best of her. She’d spent the previous evening considering her changes, the ideas she’d had around it. A good portion of the evening had been wandering through the forge and the shop on the twenty seventh, running her hand over the tools, the bench, even the anvil as she considered her path forwards. Her love for the forge hadn’t diminished, but with the number of available blacksmiths, and the state of her business itself… Late into the evening she had realised how long she had spent sitting on the shop’s counter, considering e
  2. Having received directions to the small shop found on the first floor, she found herself hopping up the steps with hesitation. She had never visited this area of the town before, and although everything looked new, something about this specific storefront had her apprehensive. Her contact had informed her that the shop owner could be trusted, and that their wares came at a value worth contemplating, but Nari had still held reservations. She never liked stepping outside of her comfort zone, and this was certainly well beyond it. A deep breath, before she entered. Finding the individual whe
  3. The girl spoke, and Nari listened. Listened to the words of being chased, being hunted. Of having lost someone, and wanting to find them. She knew the feeling of that loss herself, and could empathise with the feeling, but as the girl continued speaking, Nari foresaw a darkness coming over the small girl in her grasp. At first, it began as one afeared of being hunted, likely by the player killers that Nari had heard so much about throughout her time here – especially lately. But the final ideology that the girl presented, that hit Nari harder than anything else. “You don’t want that, no m
  4. Nari wandered into the small little café that she had visited before, glancing around as she moved towards the displays. She took her time, pouring over the available items as well as the custom orders that could be placed. When she was ready, she made her way to the counter, smiling as she came up to the girl behind it. “Hey! Long time, no see! Looks like you’ve got quite the little café going on here!” A quick smile before she began pointing towards a number of items. “I may be emptying you out a bit, but everything here just looks so good!”
  5. “All I’m saying, is that people have been busy. It’s no surprise that things like these rumours go missed once in a while…” She popped another piece of fruit into her mouth, as she stared at Onóra sitting by the small wood stove in the kitchen. A true kitchen now, not the little kitchenette that her previous estate had. Although the house was smaller, it somehow felt more complete. Likely a bonus of the numerous additions she’d managed to add onto the place, including the extra bedroom. “No, I get that. But…doesn’t it seem weird that no one else has taken it up yet? Doesn’t that worry you
  6. “I want you and Éli to succeed, nothing more, nothing less. So, let’s get to it shall we?” She’d seen the look in the eyes of the other. First anger, frustration at being unable to complete the task without barriers, without trouble. Then came the regret after the spoken words – retaliation against a reminder of failure. Nari understood it all. Letting the sarcasm drip heavier into her voice, she decided to prod back at the other. “That is, of course, unless you’re thinking that you’re entirely incapable of training the kitten?” She stared hard at Cleo, knowing that the other required a m
  7. Nari settled back as Cleo returned her attention towards training the kitten. At first, it looked as though they were actually going to see some progress, but…that didn’t last very long, at all. As Cleo commanded, the kitten turned to look at the master, with what Nari could only denote as a look of fear. ‘That’s…not good.’ Although she managed to catch the words before they were spoken aloud, she was sure that Cleo would see the look on her face, likely more telling than any actual words – a look of disappointment. Trying to cover it up quickly, she spoke – her voice filled with apprehen
  8. Nari watched as Vigilon spotted short, his attention drawn to a message he had just received. There seemed to almost be a change in him…a difference in his stance, in his emotions. She barely registered as he spoke to them, her attention on full alert as he headed for a stone. Shifting so that her spear fell into her hand, in a relaxed grip, but with the point angled slightly forwards. She watched as he reached over, picking up what appeared to be…a girl? Baffled, and unsure of what to make of it all – other than the fact that it likely wasn’t an immediate threat, Nari let her spear lean
  9. Nari took the proffered hand, lightly leaning on it in order to pull herself to her feet. The second compliment took her off guard, almost as much as the first – but rather than laughing, she simply blushed in response. She’d never stopped to consider being a good, or bad person. She just saw someone in need, and…did what she did. “Well, I certainly appreciate the compliment, but I just…reacted. You looked like you needed help, and I’m not one to just stand by and watch while someone else…” Her words fell short, but she quickly shook the oncoming despair away, refocusing on their task at

  11. Her hammering paused at the sound of the gong, signifying someone had entered the store. Placing the materials and crafts aside, she made her way towards the store front – nearly running into NIGHT as she came around the corner. Smiling, she was caught off guard by the sudden peck, before the items were presented to her. She barely had time to throw her arms around NIGHT in appreciation, before whispering the words, “You spoil me, I’m going to have to find a way to repay you for this, you know!” Almost as quickly as she had appeared, NIGHT made her retreat, leaving Nari to review the pieces sh
  12. She let her hands continue their search for a few more minutes, trying to find the shards that she knew were hidden away in the land. But as she saw the shifting of light in the sky, she knew that she would eventually have to make her way home – especially seeing as there was much to do now in order to get prepared for everything to come. “Come on Yuki, let’s get going shall we?” The fox gave a large stretch for its small frame, yawning as it rose to its feet before following along behind Nari. Making her way across to the exit, she gave a quick wave towards Nemo, before stopping to speak
  13. The thought of returning to the real world, of leaving everything behind left Nari with a feeling of sudden despair – and yet, somehow it wasn’t the depressive state that she would normally feel when considering it. This was different, a despair that would leave her sad at what she had lost, but a reminder that she had enjoyed it all while she could. “Maybe that’s what Brigette creates…a desire to enjoy, and to miss that enjoyment – but to realise that it isn’t the loss that matters, but the memories it creates…” Her hands paused as she glanced over at the fox, wondering if she had any in
  14. “You’ve no opinion, then? Perhaps we should remain where we are, and not move back to your winter wonderland then?” The response was almost immediate – a collection of angry chirps from Yuki as the fox raised its head from the paws it once rested upon. Nari couldn’t help but smile at the response, her teasing having worked perfectly. “Oh, so you do have an opinion then? Fine, I’ll take it under consideration, but maybe you should voice it more often.” Another collection of chirps, followed by a heavy sigh as the fox seemed to slam its head back down onto its paws. Nari let out a giggle at
  15. She collected her most recent find, before rolling over onto her stomach, beginning her search in earnest as she pulled aside tulips, long weed grasses, and an assortment of other flowering beauties that she didn’t quite recognise. As she worked, she continued talking, enjoying the ability to speak aloud her thoughts to the little fox. Beside her, Yuki had stretched out in the grass, enjoying the ability to uncurl for the moment. “It’s just…I know things could get bad, so I restrain – I stay away from the hope of goodness. But…maybe that’s why things go bad? I know Brigette is watching ov
  16. With the final creature exploding into shards, Nari let herself relax slightly. Pulling up her menu and placing away the armour and weapon, she turned her attention back to the garden itself. She could see before her varying bushes, trees, flowers – everything that could provide beauty. “Nemo truly does provide a haven of beauty, doesn’t he Yuki?” The fox had uncurled itself from her shoulders, yawning before dropping to the ground now that the fighting was done. Almost unconsciously, she began to let her hands wander, pulling aside the grasses closest to herself in a natural searching ma
  17. Her spear tip slid through the side of the creature, tearing a large gash from it as the frost poured out, covering the body of the small dragon. The creature seemed to freeze in place as the ice slowly covered it, and Nari watched as its health bar dropped further, her own only raising back towards its original filled setting. She knew that her luck likely wouldn’t hold forever, however, and forced herself into motion. Letting her shield fall slightly to the side, she pulled back her spear, as if preparing to toss it. She held her pose for a moment, waiting until the little dragon had be
  18. Her aim was true. The spear was set to connect with the little dragon, the tip almost piercing the hide and leaving its mark upon the creature. Her eyes almost didn’t catch the movement as it dipped, sliding a hair’s breath away from the blade – causing Nari’s strike to miss, but also saving her from a retaliatory strike in return. Her scowl returning as she slid past and around to face the creature again, she set herself into her ready pose, her arm quivering slightly as it pulled the spear up and into place. Her eyes glared over the edge of the shield as she waited for the little dragon
  19. She’d known there was a risk to her manoeuvre, a cost to pay. As the little dragon before her exploded into thousands of shards, Nari felt a sudden impact on her back. She knew without looking that the second creature had taken advantage of her open area, striking into a weak spot. She watched as the health bar dipped – not enough to be a true concern, but more than she was used to out of the creatures here. Forcing her breath out in order to calm herself, she spun to face the little dragon, scowling at it as she brought her shield up before her. Levelling her spear she glared at the crea
  20. Her strike was rewarded by a shattering of scales as she broke through the defences of the little dragon. She watched the health bar plummet, coming to a rest at nearly a quarter marker of where it had been when the fight began. The second little dragon had attempted to slam into her, but seeing it coming Nari had been able to duck beneath the flight path, forcing the creature beyond and into a wide turn to come back towards her. A quick glance between the two and she knew that she would be taking a risk with her next attack. Spinning on her heel to bring her in a wide swinging arc, she l
  21. The tip of her spear slashed across both creatures, and Nari felt a moment of pride as she managed to land such a strong blow. She watched as the first of the creatures seemed to become coated in ice, the entire form freezing in place as the effects of her weapon took effect. The second creature, although not as gravely damaged, also seemed to seize up, providing Nari the opportunity to set herself again. ‘This is going far better than against the wolves. Perhaps I should focus on these smaller creatures more often, they seem easier…’ Nodding, more to herself than anything else, she let h
