  1. Nari’s search as they made their way along the pathway had so far provided her with nothing of worth. Between the Satyr’s incessant speed, and her inability to drive the sound of the clopping hooves out of her mind, she wasn’t able to properly look for the materials she so desperately wanted for her smithing. Sighing, she gave up on the search entirely after only a few moments, turning her attention instead to her guide – figuring she might as well at least try and collect some information from him while she followed along. “The invite didn’t really…well, specify who it was I was supposed
  2. “I can walk, you know.” Nari spun at the words, her mouth still covered by her right hand, but her left snapping back against her chest as her eyes went wide. From behind her hand a muffled sound, as she spoke aloud. “Oh my gods – I’m…I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean – I just…I’m sorry!” She paused, taking in a deep breath, before pulling her hand away from her face and pointing down the roadway they had been going – well, that Nari had been dragging them down. “It’s just down here a little ways, about a block from-“ Nari stopped speaking, suddenly fidgeting with the edge of her dress. Sh
  3. Nari smiled slightly at NIGHT – trying hard to hide her embarrassment. NIGHT had shown up casually dressed, and suddenly Nari felt slightly overdressed. She wondered if she had overthought this whole thing – maybe…well, it was too late now. Running her hands over the front of her dress in a nervous way, she let the words roll out and off her tongue, trying hard to keep her face from lighting up in a similar way to the lights on the poles around the square. “I…uhm….I actually live up here…I bought a house and store and everything…” She thought of the estate she owned, and suddenly she had
  4. Nari checked the time again – she had messaged NIGHT and told her to come to Floor Twenty-Seven at exactly six o’clock. That left her just over thirty minutes to make her way to the teleporter pad. It was more than enough time, and yet…Nari felt anxious, as if she was running late. Gathering up Yuki, she left the shop, closing and locking the door behind her as she went. She checked herself again, the armour and shield gone and the violet dress in its place. She had spent the entire morning going through her wardrobe trying to find something that would best fit her for this encounter. She had
  5. Nari’s mind snapped back to the present as the sound of hooves clomping the ground came slowly closer. Glancing around, Nari saw what appeared to be a creature that appeared to have the upper body of a man, and the legs of…a sheep?...some hooved animal. Atop its head were two horns that curled up and backwards, similar to a goat in Nari’s mind. She paused in her search as the creature continued to approach her, clearly making a line towards Nari herself. Her hand drifted towards her sword, the shield on her right arm raising slightly as she waited to see if this creature would be friend
  6. As soon as she left the gates of the large city, it felt as though something had lifted from her shoulders – her entire form, right down to her core felt lighter. Nari smiled, enjoying the peaceful walk through the flowing fields, following the path that led towards Mount Olympia. She had gained the directions from another within the city, quickly thanking them before rushing onwards, a feeling of absolute dislike in her stomach at the conversation – not because of the other individual, but because of the action itself. Even with how much she had grown over the last little while here, she stil
  7. Nari had arrived early, hoping to beat everyone else to the meeting location that they had agreed upon – a large fountain in a small courtyard just down the street from this blacksmith they were supposed to go see for the second part of this quest. She paced nervously, moving back and forth in front of the fountain with a look of agitation on her face. It had been a little while since she had last seen Bismuth, Koga and…Night. Her heart constricted a little at the name. That first encounter had been…well, something else. She had felt her mind returning to it over and over again, replaying the
  8. Lost in thought staring at the message, Nari didn’t notice as time slowly crept by. She continued pouring over the message, trying to piece together the less-than-cryptic words, which somehow seemed to carry a hidden meaning – at least to her eyes. It frustrated her that she couldn’t figure it out just by reading it over and over again – and eventually she slammed the close button on the dialogue box. Glancing about she noticed that those few others whom had been in the large square with her had disappeared, and she figured it was time that she herself moved on. Making her way across to t
  9. Nari was busy at her anvil, Yuki curled up on the workbench, appearing unbothered by the rhythmic ringing of Nari’s work. She had been lost in thought over a few things, including the evolution of her relationship – if you could call it that – with NIGHT. Things were…taking a turn, for lack of a better understanding. ‘Dinner…I asked her out to dinner. What was I thinking? Did I really…?’ A sudden alert appeared beside Nari’s hand, just as her hammer rose to swing again at the piece she had been working on. The appearance of it caught her off guard, and drew her attention away for the brie

  11. Her heart filled with a mixture of confusion over the last few days, Nari found herself secluded to the workshop – her hammer and anvil a safe place for her otherwise unsure world. Yuki, seated upon the workbench watching as Nari went to work on her crafts, seemed content with the arrangements. Although the fox had never once complained about following Nari around everywhere, she had the odd feeling that Yuki enjoyed the seclusion of the workshop as much as her. Raising the hammer, Nari brought it down on the materials seated on top of the anvil, hammering away as piece by piece came to
  12. Nari glanced at the bowing man whom had just joined them, his words about a second part of the quest catching her attention. She flicked her gaze around the group, a sudden odd feeling in her chest, as if she was worried she might lose something precious here. “A second… we-we should do that together too! I-I mean if you want to, that is…” her face flushed entirely as she spoke, her eyes shifting to NIGHT, but her words clearly for everyone. “That is… I would love to do it together. The quest. As a group. As… friends.” She glanced at Koga and Bismuth with the final word, clearing mea
  13. Nari remained silent for the remainder of the walk back, trying to figure out where she stood with NIGHT. Everything had been…well, confusing. She was still trying to determine if she should say anything, or just leave it be, when she realised that they had arrived at the alchemist’s shop. She paused in the doorway, glancing in NIGHT’s direction for a moment. She felt her mouth open as she tried to find something to say, but no words came out and so she slid into the shop. The NPC – Zackariah – seemed to say something to Nari about crafting some sort of potion. Barely registering what the

  15. Nari wandered into the forge, Yuki on her shoulder. The fox suddenly leapt off, making her way towards the anvil before Nari could react. Nari watched as the fox positioned herself on the top of the anvil, glancing back at Nari with the beady little eyes that spoke more than any voice ever could. Nari wandered over to the workbench, picking up the hammer and collecting the materials that she needed in order to complete the work today. As she made her way up to the anvil, the fox moved onto Nari’s shoulder – carefully leaping up onto her shoulder and settling into place. Nari brought the p

  17. Nari led the girl through the front gates of the town, sighing a breath of relief as soon as they passed through fully. She hadn’t realised how tense she had been on the entire walk back, her guard up the entire time as she expected something else to jump out at them. Nothing had – much to Nari’s relief, although she had to admit she was a little bit…well, sad about that. She had always enjoyed the thrill of combat – but maybe it was for the best, seeing as she had to lead this child back safely. The child – right. Nari turned to make sure she was still there, thankfully finding the girl
  18. Nari stopped briefly to collect the materials that she had seen out of the corner of her eye. She took a moment to glance about for anything further, before returning to the girl waiting for her by the side of the road. She smiled at the little NPC as she held up the small violet tulip so that she could see. “This is my favourite. It’s called a tulip in my- where I come from. They’re not super common, but they are…well, I think they’re the most beautiful…” Nari’s voice drifted off as the face appeared in her mind once more, a face that hadn’t troubled her until recently. She felt that tig
  19. Knowing that she needed to walk the girl back to the town in order to complete the quest, Nari forced her tired body off the ground. The girl hadn’t left her side, having clearly not felt like risking the open grasses after her ordeal in the caves. Nari couldn’t blame her – even if it was just programming reacting to the system requirements. “We should get you back…your mother is likely worried about you. And…well…it’s safer in the town for you, too.” Nari tried smiling at the little girl, in an attempt to make her more comfortable. Nari wasn’t sure if it worked, but the NPC seemed conte
  20. The light broke around them as Nari rushed them out of the cave – more than happy to escape into the light as quickly as possible, regardless of what that meant for the girl in tow. As Nari’s eyes adjusted to the sudden burst of light, she glanced behind her, seeing the little girl for the first time. Nari had to admit that she was an identical representation of her mother – the soft brown hair and similar facial features a match for the woman who had been sobbing to Nari not too long ago. Nari felt her legs give out as soon as she knew for sure that they were in the clear from the danger
  21. Nari felt her blade whip through the air, and saw the violet light as the sword art activated. The blade struck into something – she caught a slight glimpse as the creature was engulfed in light, appearing almost batlike to Nari’s eyes, but far larger in size. Then, just as suddenly the light exploded, the creature erupting into thousands of shards before disappearing and leaving Nari and the girl in darkness once more. Letting out a breath of relief, Nari checked on the girl behind the shield – realising that she was fine, she pulled the shield away, sheathing her sword before grabbing
  22. The girl remained quiet as she followed Nari’s guidance towards the entrance of the cave. It felt like hours passed as the two of them slowly moved forward – or backwards? – towards the exit. Nari felt herself growing more and more impatient as the going felt slower and slower with each step. It seemed as though they would never make it out of the caves. Just as she was fuming internally over the whole situation, Nari heard a familiar sound – the flapping of wings pushing something through the air. Realising what was about to happen, Nari pulled the girl in close, pulling her shield up an
  23. “Hello…?” A sudden soft, quiet voice called out to Nari’s left. Shifting her direction of movement, Nari squinted in the darkness, trying to find the source of the voice. “H-hello?” “Hello? Where are you?” Nari began reaching out with her arms, searching for the form of the voice in the darkness. She could hear a soft scampering sound close by, and shifted slightly to try and intercept it. “Are…did you come here to play with your friends? Your mother…well, she sent me to find you. And bring you home…but it’s dark, where are you?” “I’m…I’m here…” The soft voice was directly to Nari’s
  24. “This is going nowhere. Hey! Child! Where are you? Answer me, you damned little brat!...this is why I don’t have children. Such a frustration. I can’t believe I somehow got involved in…” Nari’s words echoed down through the cave and back into her ears. They were full of what she knew was anger, although she knew it was directed at the quest itself. She didn’t figure the child would be hearing the same words, with the same intonation. ‘This will definitely make her run into your arms, happy to have been found…’ Nari scowled at the voice in her head, knowing it was right, but cursing i
  25. Nari tried to listen as she continued to prod farther along into the cave. She could hear her voice echoing on the walls slightly, and although she hoped for something to call out in return – no other voices returned to her ears. She wasn’t surprised – there’s no way the quest would be this easy, Cardinal would make sure of that – but she had somewhat hoped that a voice would at least guide her a little ways. Deciding that there was no harm in continuing, she kept her calls into the darkness going – maybe the system would take pity on her and have the little girl speak out in response, or mayb
