{PP - F01} Salt of the Earth (Earning a Living: Forager)
Reytac replied to Reytac's topic in Beginner Floors
As he started moving through the forest, Reytac decided that, at the very least, he could start looking for other things, too. The whole goal of the quest was to start picking up materials after all, and the sooner he got started on it, the better. If he built up enough of a stockpile, he could hopefully use it to barter for better gear when he found someone to trade with. So Rey started combing through the woods as he walked, trying to see if he could spot any useful herbs or other materials that he could add to his hoard. But despite the fact that he was moving through a forest t - Today

{PP - F01} Salt of the Earth (Earning a Living: Forager)
Reytac replied to Reytac's topic in Beginner Floors
Well, getting started on this quest was going to be easier than he had been worried about. No being sent back and forth across town to talk to different people before being able to head out - he just got handed the compass and told to go on his way. He let out a soft chuckle and shook his head once as he carefully made his way away from the camp - no need to disrupt the woman's home. He looked down at the small compass that he had been handed by her, turning it over a few times. It looked.. odd to him. A normal compass, at least the ones he was familiar with, either had a brass housing, -
Buying things was going to get expensive and quick, that much was clear to Reytac. While he was still fairly certain that the orange-haired woman, Mari, had undercharged him for the baked goods he bought from her store, even with the extra col he'd paid her, it wouldn't take many trades like that before his small stash of materials had gone the way of the dinosaurs. So he needed to start getting his own materials, not just rely on quest rewards like before. While looking for the plants had been time consuming - time was something he had plenty of. And the other alternative, fishing - didn't st

Reytac let out a cough at the fact that she was grabbing a baking tray with her bare hands - even with the pain reductions, that should have been excruciating. But - damage resistances were a thing, and she must have at least one that was affecting this. He gave a light shrug at her explanation. "I figured as much, and if I could give more I would have. I hope I can get to the point you're at some point, I want to get home to my wife. Maybe next time I come back to buy something I can pay you better. Thank you for these." He bowed to her. "Now I should get out of here before the malaise

Mari replied to Mari's topic in Merchants and Shops
With a sweep of her hand, Mari would take his offering with a small shrug. She didn't care if he was put off by her offer, frankly Mari was just surprised to see anyone here. The miasmatic effect of the floor was detrimental to all who would wander it, especially those who did so for extended periods of time. The incredulous look he gave her didn't go unnoticed, and Mari would make a mental note to charge him more next time, if not, purely from spite. Even if he did offer her the extra col to....compensate for her low price. "Wedding.....?" Mari tilted her head, a concerned frown on her f -
That felt... Like it was undercutting things. Reytac hadn't gotten a crafting profession yet, but he was fairly certain that it would take more than one material to make something. And as she straightened up Reytac realized that he had actually seen her before. Not long ago, in fact, when she and a man had demolished their way straight through the Town Of Beginnings to get to the church. For a very special ceremony. He took a deep breath and exhaled and set the five materials she'd requested on the counter - and then beside it, he stacked five hundred col. "It isn't much, but hey, I'm ju

[PP-PT-F08] Warm-up with King Donk | <<The Monkey King>>
Wulfrin replied to Wulfrin's topic in Beginner Floors
Astra dashed around Wulfrin with grace and elegance in a skillful execution of a simple sword art. His pupil danced through the air bringing the full force of his blade down upon the hulking primate. Sewallus followed it up with a howl to rival that of a college hype man, drawing the off brand King Kong's attention from the group. Monkey King didn't move. Instead it could only watch as Wulfrin's holy blade ignited with a holy fire. Casually he took a couple steps toward the hulking gorilla. A series of rapid slashed arched across the stunned monkey as the flames lashed around Wulfrin's form. F -
[PP-PT-F08] Warm-up with King Donk | <<The Monkey King>>
Astra replied to Wulfrin's topic in Beginner Floors
The digital earth below the party began to tremble as they entered the fabled Monkey King's arena. Emerging from the dark of the forests was a gargantuan horned beast, resembling both a primate and a balrog. Astra's eyes were affixed to it. Even though he trusted Wulfrin's abilities to take it down with ease, he did question Sewallus' and his own. The size of the mob was hard to ignore, and perhaps that was what triggered a slight bout of anxiety in the young swordsman. However, that wasn't going to be a deterrence. The Monkey King would barely have a chance to attack. Wulfrin led the ch -

Mari replied to Mari's topic in Merchants and Shops
He was still here? Mari was a little more ornery than usual. She had recently married Lancaster, but felt like she hadn't been able to spend much time with him as of late, and it was getting on her nerves, not that this poor sap would know. he seemed like he had never set foot outside the town of beginnings . Mari waved her left hand dismissively at him. She really didn't care. "Materials." Mari said dryly, then deciding that he'd probably ask her how much next, she'd offer him a modicum of more attention. "5 items? 5 materials." She said flatly. Probably completely undercutting the entir -
'Great big scary orange player. Looks like she had too long a night, Iike I did in college when I was pulling all-nighters.' Some of the tension eased out of Rey's shoulders. He wasn't relaxed per se, but at least not as high strung as he had been when he first saw that orange name. He could feel her eyes still on him as he moved over to the shelves, looking at the items on display. The first thing his gaze was drawn towards were white chocolate macadamia nut cookies. They looked and smelled delicious - and even better, they were in his tier range. He snatched up all three of them and se

Mari replied to Mari's topic in Merchants and Shops
Mari groaned as she barely lifted her head from its resting place on her store counter. She had been up all night crafting, and baking - in an effort to completely stock her store. Not that anyone had ever came here, more so for if she or Lancaster needed it. Dreary eyes of crystalline blue starred up at the figure from beneath long lashes. "Eh?" She actually...had a customer? Mari rubbed her eyes as she sat up straight, then pulled a small flask out of her inventory, taking a heavy drink from it. Hair of the dog, and all that. "Fucking..." she mumbled, someone who wanted Tier 1 shit? Tha -
The directions that Reytac had received had been very specific on how to look for this place. He'd been warned that the proprieteress might not be in, and he was already planning how to best get back to the safe zone and back to familiar grounds if they weren't. Thankfully the tent was very close to the safe zone, so unless something happened within a step or two, he'd be able to make it back safely. The perpetual night of the floor had felt odd at first to him, but after a few minutes of time it had actually grown kind of pleasant. Out in the real world he'd long been a night owl, and t

NIGHT replied to Morningstar's topic in Intermediate Floors
"two of the smaller ones at best. i haven't been to a gym in years.” night made a sound. “wait, how did you say that—” star didn’t answer, but they agreed upon her waiting behind. so there she was, idling on her lonesome, making sure the injured didn’t pick at their wounds. gravel sifted and fell through the cracks of the ceiling, but there was no sign of any activity that would send her to be on alert. then the message game. NIGHT: wym she paused to think. NIGHT: can we destroy the rock w/ a sword art it was probably the worst possible suggestion for -
how dared she ignore firefly? night shifted on the spot with a nod to the player, heeding her regard towards exploration rather than the offensive. her enthusiasm for new places seemed unparalleled. “just a few,” night started. “i haven’t tried being an escort for higher floors before. but if you think you can hold your own — at least, to stay out of danger — i’m sure i can lend a hand when i’m free.” she couldn’t help but stare when firefly revealed her notebook, only to discover the language within was just a sequence of strange dots. but what mattered the most to night was the mention

It had been nearly a week since the announcement, since they had all become trapped in this digital fantasy, since the names began to be crossed off the list. The list, it's a joke really, The Monument of Life, a sick monolithic stone scorecard the game was keeping as a joke at players' expense. First went those who had been beta-testers, they had experience on their side, they knew where they were going. With them went the foolhardy and headstrong, becoming the first names to leave the list. Then came the floods, hundreds upon hundreds of scared players, not knowing what else to do withou

Three other Users stood beside him. A sharp-tongued but deeply caring elf. A young, enthusiastic guide. Another young man that had encouraged and protected the group as they carried the sword along their way. Edict managed one more step. The dragon was howling, but the sword-bearer could no longer hear the words. Instead, he focused on the people around him. They were the reason the sword had made it this far. If he was not worthy, then they could be. Another step forward, urged on by the thousands of steps made by those who came before. Edict was now close enough to see the dragon carcas
