The place was quiet, out of the way; far enough away from Taft that she wouldn't be a bother to anyone - not along any main trails. Mari had quite literally come across the outskirts of the estate by chance; and the river that ran through it. She was far enough away that she hadn't actually entered any owned land, but was close enough to see the rooftop of whomever lived there. Mari cast her line out with a yawn. Coming back from the higher floors always resulted in her being exhausted. "You're a long way from anywhere. Were the city fish too noisy for you?" "That's the point.

Freyd had a point, why was it a secret? "Hmmm...." Mari crossed her arms over her chest. "I guess. It's as you said, complicated. People talk. I didn't want his past to affect his decisions in the future. I didn't want people to judge him harshly because of it. It was very shitty. It messed me up real bad. One of the reasons I don't really trust people these days." Despite her being completely over the situation, her lack of faith in people was still quite prevalent, although that couldn't be attested to just the amber eyed man. There was a long list of people and events that had contributed t

Sunny pressed his lips together and took a deep inhale of air through his nose. Blowing it out in a long, steady breath he centred himself. "It's fine. This is fine. You have one more go and then you can crack on with the rest of the quest." The thought suddenly occurred that he hadn't even asked about the loaned Col. Distracted by another quest. Or maybe that was the design. Either way, it was time to focus. grab the mats, head back and enquire about the loan. As he visualised his tasks he noticed a patch of long grass nearby. "Can't have any worse luck can I?" He said to himse

You could only reach the house at sunset. The path didn’t appear so much as it allowed you through — winding past overgrown trees and quiet hills, down into a meadow the world seemed to have forgotten. It was beautiful in a way that felt untouched: wildflowers blooming in every direction, tall grass swaying in the bree

Cringing with mild false sympathy at the placement of her blow, Freyd's blade flared with black flame as he channeled his next attack. "Died? Oh, right. Yes. You did mention that was a thing." Lunching into a flanking tumble up the curving surface of a nearby frozen embankment - impressive in heavy armor - Freyd's blade flared as it spiral cut the field boss' bulky torso. The entire mob collapsed into disk-shaped lozenges the size of frozen kiddie pools, cascading down all around the meadow before bursting into puffy fractal clouds and joining the ambient flurries native to the flo

"OK. So bushes didn't work." He stood for a moment and looked at what he thought should have been a full bush. Shaking his head he looked around for a different target. There weren't many trees in the area he was in but maybe he could find some wood at the base of one of the few that were. Moving across the grass, he chose to focus on the good things instead. He was finally doing something, and things would only get better. The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step after all. And if that first step is actually a stumble... Well, it's just the first learning experience.

Sunny started walking, looking to either side of the main path. The plains covered most Floor One, and he felt quite safe making his way around, searching for materials that would help him complete his quest. He saw some bushes close by and moved towards them. As he approached the closest bush, he looked out over the plains and saw a group of boars walking in a group. He stopped a moment to take in the sight. "Not yet. I don't even have a weapon." He muttered to himself. And he had to be careful. Even low level mobs could do serious damage to the overconfident. The safety that he'd been f

Right....Freyd had wanted details on his death at one point didn't he? Mari shifted her gaze to him. Would it be fair to tell him their history...then again... was it fair for Mari to have kept that pain all those years? It was a delicate line. "I'm trusting you not to repeat this." Mari said. "But long story short - guy pretended to love me - died - I was incredibly upset - came back - told me it was all a lie - and that was that. We're cool now though, probably." Mari shrugged. "That's the short of it. I'm over it now, obviously. But that lake meant a lot to us, well...I guess just to me ba

It took a while to find the right shop. There were so many things to see, and Sunny was determined to take it all in. He knew that before long the urge to run around as quickly as possible, ignoring all the little details, would kick in. He was determined not to give in. The fountains and wind towers around the town, especially, caught his eye, and there seemed to be an abundance of housing and places to eat, too. Quite a pleasant place, all things considered. Once he had located the alchemist's shop he entered and gazed upon shelves and shelves of colourful potions in various vials and j

My vision goes black as the cloth covers my eyes. I can only feel the blade in my hand, and the sixth sense of the presence that joined me in the room. I refuse to attach my mother to this entity, whatever the hell it is. My blade feels heavier than normal. I can't be sure if its because of the wound to my stomach or the hesitancy to cut down what I last saw as my mother. But it was like the shadowed demon from the hallway had said. I really did not want to witness what I was about to do. Even through the heaviness weighing me down, I had to do it. "Wait-!" My voice overtook the demo -
“Alkor?” A familiar name more closely associated with Lessa, if memory served. “We’ve been in a raid or two together. Never on the same squad, that I can recall. There was one time when we went to aid a blighted treant, but it was so long ago that I don’t really remember the details, or how it ended.” "Despite everything I tended to be ....maybe a little too foolish back then." The monster reared its mountainous head, roaring frozen spittle at them in the form of razor sharp shards, even as Mari launched herself up its frozen torso and making a disturbingly accurate impression of

"So... yeah. It sucks, and I'm still trying to deal with it, but I thought you would want to know." Seated on a set of dusty wooden crates stacked just inside the main gates to the Town of Beginnings, Freyd sipped at his mug of vanilla-scented coffee. Atop the crates, a small black porcelain bowl filled with ether sat, filled to the brim, but untouched. "She died well, Marv, or so I'm told. Most of the details are more than a little fuzzy." A strained chuckle sought to lighten the mood as plated metal gauntlet patted the grey unruly hair upon his crown, and mostly fresh feature girding hi -

As the blade began to escape her stomach, Firefly watched her HP go further and further down. Seventy-five percent... Fifty percent... Thirty percent... Panic began to set in as death was coming closer and closer. Her hand suddenly grabbed the sharp end of the sword, and her other reach out to take the Cross-Blade back from her enemy. "No! I haven't finished! I have to know what they look like myself!" The girl screamed in pain as removed the sword from her stomach. "Do it then! Kill your mother!" It taunted her, still using the familiar voice. If she wanted to live, she would have t -

"Still sorta talking in riddles, eh? Yeah. Guess I can't really criticize on that count." Attention turned to new accoutrements as she flashed lobe bring his way, her armor and stature already impressing. "I suppose I'm glad you've found wind for your wings." Freyd's face scrunched up, still struggling to figure out why his own nature still fought so hard to accept this woman's claims, despite lifetimes of other memories proving them true. Perhaps because it was his own nature to mistrust; to poke and prod at every little detail he encountered until something curious broke free from the -

The blade pulsed with light like a firefly's heartbeat, or so how she understood it. Samantha fell backwards on to her bed as she attempted to make some distance. Time seemed to slow to crawl as the blade moved through air towards her. The voice of the first demon rang in her ears. The bubbling brimstone and horrid acrid scent allotted very little in the way of comfort, giving both of them an oppressive assault to the senses. Yet neither seemed to wilt under it. In gilded armor she'd walk shoulder to shoulder with the man, almost to the same height in this state. She'd started really unfurling her wings and becoming quite readily much more active, given her bonds had loosened so much that it had become almost blind to her. A trick in borrowing aspects to create a facsimile, that bluffed her into being accepted. "Quite funny, that out of desperation we choose to accept in -

"Mom?" The girl asked in horror. If this was anything like the trials before... Was the game really asking her to kill the memory of her own mother? The woman spoke, mocking the voice of her mother as Samantha was dreading would happen after the last demon copied Morningstar's voice. "Samantha." Her words flowed as soft and caring as she remembered. "You've been gone for so long, I've missed hearing your lovely voice." Honestly, she was speechless. Not only from the stunned feeling of hearing her mothers voice but also wishing to deny this thing the pleasure(?) of hearing it. "Y-You' -
