As Zandra saw the four recently killed swords slowly fading into fragments and shattered crystals she smiled. She looked at Zita and patted her gently on the head. ‘’It is good I have you int it? These farming runs would be very, very boring otherwise.’’ She said with a smile. ‘’Also.’’ She whispered.’’Not to be mean or anything, but if I bringed anyone else, they would probably only hold me back wouldn’t they.’’ She said as her eyes darted back and forth to see if there was any possible player around them that may have overheard. Like, it wasn’t to be mean or bragging she mentioned it, but she was one of the strongest players currently, that was a fact. Thou there was plenty newbie that had grinded their way to tier three. Not only that, some of them had actually reached level eitgyewight. Even so, she was proud to be one of the first that reached max level anyway.

As Zandra started to charge up another attack, Zita had already engaged, scratching and pecking on the immobilized swords, shattering one of them in her fury. ‘’Way to go there Zita.’’ Zandra said encouragefully as she followed her familiars action and let the axe cleave thru the mobs and ending their lifes with three quick swungs. And with that, the lot of them was defeated and Zandra was a bit richer. She looked at the reward screen. ‘’Well Zita, we going to have enough of equipments to last for a lifetime after this. Thou I just wish we would get more on the col side. Since we not really in need of anyn more gear.’’ She said and let out a sigh. With some last eyes throwed at the reward screen she closed it and turned her focus away from the loot. She wiped off some sweat and saw her energy bar was going dangerously low.

’’That what Im talking about!!!’’ shouted Zandra as she saw the Shadow waving after Zita. ‘’Keep him distracted, we have almost taken him down.’’ She shouted out to her. ‘’Just stay safe, don’t take any too dangerous risks, use your speed to outmanvouver him and remember you can fly, he cant.’’ That last thing, she wasn’t sure of thou. It was true they haven’t seen him fly, thou that didn’t meant he couldn’t, maybe he just haven’t felt the need to show all his skills to the warriors that was slowly but steadily bringing him down.

She felt something beside her. Her head turned and her eyes met Itzals. As she herd his words she nodded. ‘’Yes, we can do that. How about finding a spot with some strong mobs as well, to combine two things. No matter how much I want to just stop time, we need to keep getting stronger to be able to protect those that cant protect themselves. We owe them that Itzal. But now, lets focus on the Malevolent. He may have dropped low, but don’t lose your guard, be ready for anything and nothing will take you by surprise.’’

She swung her axe with a well aimed swing, cleaved thru the shadow horror. But for the first time since they came into these hall’s, her attack against the shadow boss, missed. Zandra grit her teeths and her eyes went to the holes that she thougth was the shadows eyes.

Zandra was excited to fight a new enemy. They had never fought this thing before, so wit was a complete new experience. She saw Itzal using one of the debuff crystals on the boss. Zandra glanced on its healthbar. It would probably not be needed yet, but she kept that thougth to herself. After him the rest of the party all followed up, dealing quite a huge punch of damage together. When Zandra saw Oscar swinging Teseleths fury, the special feeling came back to her. The feeling of swinging her weapon against the enemy. And with strike after strike, steadily beringing its health down, until totally vanquishing íts health down to zero. And that was what she was gonna do with her partymembers today against this dude. And with that she attacked again, let her weapon fall on Hrym. She didn’t dealt that much damage on the bar as she usually do on wemaller weaker mobs, ofcourse. But enough for them all to finish this relatively quickly. ‘’Keep up the preeassure! We are taking him down.’’

It was with sad eyes that Zandra, the berserk healer looked at the healthbars above the floor boss. They have been drained way to fast. Zandra had hoped for a more exciting fight against him. To get revenge from the last encounter they had. But no, the only thing was the wall of shadowlings, and when they finally broke thru to engage the Shadow, Oroth had joined in to tank for them. Her eyes was aimed at the main enemy, so she didn’t spotted as the one living shadow beast was going for her. It succeded to land a hit on her. Well, she didn’t bothered to even try to dodge. She just looked at the strike, making a red stripe on her armor. Then she glanced at her health bar, close to all of the damage she just took got healed up by her passive healing. She made a halfhearted swing towards it as payback, removing a much bigger chunk of its health then it have taken on her. Thou not enough to bring it down.

‘’Now it is time for the real enemy. I am coming fo…’’ she said to herself but got interrupted as she saw a blue shade above at the same time as she herd a name she haven’t herd in a long time being called out by Calrex. ‘’Zita! We almost there, just a little bit more!’’ she herself shouted out.

An answer was immediately herd as the great kings-eagle let out a loud cry from above before it started to dive towards the Shadow boss at the same time as Zandra reached the boss and activated her sword art. As Zandra’s axe cleaved thru the darkness, Zita’s razorsharp claws scratched at the shadows face while he beak stab again and again where the eyes would have been. ‘’How do you feel that huh? Not very cocky now without your minions or immortality huh? And remember you was gonna kill me last? If you plan to kill anyone else, that plan doesn’t seem to go very good does it?’’

’’You doing great love!’’ Zandra shouted out to @Itzal. She could see on him as well as she had herd several times about how he think that he is weaker then the other ones here. It didn’t mattered what Zandra said. But it didn’t mattered, Zandra wouldn’t give up that easily, she thougth with a friendly smile to him. ‘’don’t give in, every single piece count, we are almost there.’’ And with that, she let her charged up attack land on the shadow beast, dealing some more damage, making they all one step closer to escape this world of death. She followed up he strike with a chop against the shadow horror, the beast like creature that had appeared infront of every party. ‘’On it Ari!’’ she shouted out as she finished off with shattering the shakles that had locked @Calrex to the ground. ‘’There, naptime is over mate.’’ She said to the bluenette with a wink.

The players of the frontlines was figting the shadowboss, hearts filled with prie. Zandra could sse that evertihing was starting to change thou. On their side, there was Orgot and the players of Aincrad. And now something else happened. The boss didn’t like beeinig alove, so w few quick chops in the air to warm up her shoulder. ‘’Shadow my friend, Im coming for ya.’’ Zandra said to the floor boss. Not to her surprise, the beast that was giving them all a roiuhg tim, suddenly decided that he didn’t wanted to be alone either. So easily as any npc, he summoned four big hoiunds. But no, they wasn’t hounds. Was they spiders? No not that either. They was just weird. ‘’I guess that give me an additional target then. And she charged up the explode catapult, entered combat stance, and bursted forward, axe raised. When she got in range, she activated the sword art, being seung in a large arcg, the axe cleaved thru both of the enemies, hurting them quite a bit actually.

So, the final shadowling was defeated, the party was everyone at full health, Zandra had buffed up her energy regeneration to be able to keep fighting for longer. Still there was no vistory sign. That was when the big minotaur rose again. Zandra raised an eye, looking at his big muscles. But only for a moment, because something else got her attention. The final boss had finally decided to appear and engage them himself. With a evil smile she ignored any kind of defence or protection. With her full focus on the enemy infront of her. ‘’Hi, we meet again Shadow dude. Do you remember me? Let’s see if you are invulnerable this time as well!’’ And with that, she released her explode catapult, the strongest sword art in her arsenal, and sent it down on the floor boss. After her attack was executed, she took a few steps back to see the result of her attack.

There, Zandra had now killed sixteen of the fantasy creatures looking like swords. But she was far from done. She stretched her arms high into the air and yawned. Her red eyes looked over the huge field where she and Zita was looking. With a smile she saw all the mobs that was soon going to get turned into col and loot and be going down into her pockets. She took another steady grip around the axe. ‘’You ready Zita?’’ she asked the feathered predator. Zita answered with a loud cry as she folded out her mighty wings. ‘’Hehe, time to shatter a few more of these swords okay!’’ Zandra said as she exploded forward, as she reached another nearby group of four sword mobs, she unleashed her explode catapult, cleaving thru the lot of them and reducing their health by over half, at the same time as she left them stunned.

The Beast crashed into John with a loud boom. You could hear some of the metal parts of his armor crackle, as well as a bone or two of the enemy to break as well. Thou both of their health was unharmed. John stood strong, keeping his attention focused on the knight, with the wall of metal protecting him. At the same time, Andrey had taken the lead and charged from the side. But his light sword seemed to only barely scratch the dark hide. He quickly disengage as the players followed up. Some landing wounding strikes, some don’t. When all the players had delivered their attacks, Andromeda, Setsuna, Plini, Ariel, Baldur and Mari could see their weapons shine with a bright red glow for a few seconds before it faded out and they saw a buff below their healthbar.

The bearlike creature realized he couldn’t harm Sir John, so he turned to one of the guys that have hurted him. He looked Nian in the eyes, letting out a loud raor and charged her head on. He lifted his big, heavy paw, and struck Nian with a powerful blow on her shoulder. He let out another roar before turning and attempting the same thing on Freyd. But Freyd succeded to avoid the attack in the last second. Then he stretched himself up, being as tall as he could stared at them all with tiny red, angry eyes.

So now there was time for another round for the soldi9ers of Aincrad, the ones that was there to kill the shadow boss, the terrifying shadow boss that so far had only let other mobs do the fighting for him. Zandra herself had slayed a ton of the shadowlings, but what was she called again? Berserk healer right? Yeah that’s right, and now she had been a berserker. Time to fulfill the healing part. Shje quickly opened her menu and swapped to the support cloak instead of her gloves. Then she rushed forward top Calrex, she quickly took his arm and carefully putted some bandages on it. Then she turned around to Ariel, saw the wound on her forehead, gfently brushed it with some ointment to not cauz and inflammation. Then she went to Freyd, a big scratch on his legs was taken care off. Finally she went to Itzal. She looked at him with her hands on his cheeks. Then gave him a quick kiss. ‘’Good work out there love. You just had some blood on the lip.’’

Zandra looked at the young man infront of her. The man that she would spend maybe the rest of her life with. She gulped as she glanced on the pillow with the rings. Maybe she wasn’t very good with these kind of stuff, but this much did she know. She raised her hand for Itzal to slide one of the rings on her finger. Her finger that, even after using the battle axe for so long time, still had the same smoothness as when she entered the world of death. Feeling the cold metal on her bare skin felt in some strange way calming and she had started to relax. Or was it his skin against hers? Whatever it was, she answered by taking the other ring and slide it on to Itzals finger. Then her big red eyes went up to his. A soft smile on her lips as she slowly blinked. The time had slowed down to slow motion and she felt the gentle breeze from the sea with the low sound of splashing waves and smell of salt in the air. ‘’Thank you.’’ She said, barley hearable to anyone except her Itzal.

Rings:

Hannah, sir John and Andrey stood side by side, staring into the dark forest. ‘’So, this is the rumored forest. It is dark indeed.’’ Sir John said to break the silence. Hannah nodded as she turned around towards a dead tree that laid on the ground. ‘’Yes, and to navigate we are going to need torches. Thou we need to be careful. Otherwise we are gonna get lost as soon as we enter.’’ She explained as she broke of several branches and passed them on to each of the players. While Hannah fixed torches to everyone, John took a step up on a rock. ‘’As soon as we have the torches we are going to head into the forest. To cover as much ground as possible we are going to split into three groups. Remember to not go to far away from you partymembers or that may be the last thing you do. Always be on your guard, we don’t know what is lurking in there. Last but not least, you must remember to…’’ but before John could finish he got interrupted. As it was letting out a loud howl, a huge beast bursted out from the forest. It looked like a bear, but was much bigger and its red eyes was focused on the group of adventurer. It let out another wolf-like howl before it launched himself towards the players. ‘’To arms!’’ John screamed with a strong voice without fear. He placed himself between the group and the beast. ‘’I keep him busy, you attack from the flanks!’’ he said as he digged his feets steady on the ground.

In those few seconds that have passed, Hannah had dropped the stick she was holding, grabbed her bow, put an arrow on the string, aimed and sent it flying thru the air. She didn’t waited to see if it had had any effect before she loaded another arrow.

Andrey pulled his sword and held it infront of him. ‘’Got it John, just don’t die okay?’’ and then he went to the side, ready to jump in again and deliver a punishing strike at the beast. It got closer and closer. ‘’Be ready!’’ Thirty meters from John as the knight placed himself in a battle stance. Got closer twenty meters, ten meters and when he was only two meters infront of John took a step forward, shoulder first. ‘’NOW!’’

Zandra planted the bottom o f her axe on the ground with a smirk on her lips. The shadowlings had been killed so now next step would happ… But next step that happens wasn’t something new, it was just the same thing again. Another wave of shadowlings have appeared. ‘’Well, guess it is time to get back to work again then.’’ She said to herself as she picked up the axe and held it in a steady grip with both hands. Freyd, Calrex and Itzal had already killed some of the mobs, but there was still a few left. So Zandra charged up her trusty explode catapult and prepared to wreack havoc again. She locked onto four different shadowlings that was close to eachother. ‘’There!’’ she said and charged at them, releasing her sword art. The two handed axe cleaved thru all of the aimed targets. Zandra also felt her vampiric offence triggered, taking her health up to full. She took a quick glance at her party members health. And except the start where Ari went dangerously low, this group seemed to be made up off decent players and they would probably leave this fight healthy enough to not worry.

Zandra looked at the spots where the shadowlings had been. Where they had been before her two handed axe had reduced their health to zero. She was smiling, this was fun. Well to be honest, she couldn’t really see the spots. Around her, the darkness was thick. And yes, it had reduced her sight, but so far she had still landed her every attack. Must be her inner dragonsenses that was in work. With a glance to the other groups, she saw that the other groups had some light among them.

That was when more shadowlings appeared. Her smile, that had faded, now grew back. She gave @Freyd - The Whisper in Shadows a nod and thumb up. ‘’Im on it.’’ And with that, she activated her explode catapult, and finished of the last three new shadowlings that had gathered around them. ‘’oh right, DUCK!’’ she said as she remembered what Freyd just said. Then her focus turned to @Itzal as he worried about her. ‘’don’t worry love, you wont see me die today.’’ She said to him with a thumb up.

Suddenly, alot of things just happened. A lot. The warriors of the frontlines have finally taken down the minotaur. It haven’t really been any struggle. Was a close call with Ari for a moment, but they easily recovered from it. After that, there was a short break, she saw people preparing. Thou she didn’t felt there was any need for her to do it. Anyway, what could she do? Then a thougth went up for her, she could sharpen someone. ‘’Yes, I will do th…’’ but she was to slow, before she could do anything, next thing happened. And what just happened, made her face turn into a big smile. ‘’YES!’’ she shouted. ‘’ @Macradon! @Baldur! @Ariel - The Crowned Lion! @Morgenstern! Bal! Last time it was just us, now we have plenty of friends with us. This gonna bee a piece of cake!’’ And with those words, she exploded forward, her eyes filled with joy. Fighting hordes of enemies, this was what she lived for. What she loved. And here they was, ready to be slayed by her axe. As she reached four of the enemies she took a quick look at four of them, before she activated her sword art, cleaving and killing all of them in one powerful swing. As she backed a few steps, she saw no one of them was at full health. So she took out her healing crystal and shattered it, all of them healing a little closer to full.

Hannah looked over the group that had now grown. The group had become pretty big, with a dozen of adventurers that have joined in to find out what was happening in the forest. Just when Andromeda turned the size from eleven to twelve players, something changed. Suddenly two more NPC’s appeared. A man with heavy armor walked up to Hannah.

‘’Well done Hannah. You have gathered a lot of brave adventurers, I will take over from here.’’ The man said with a deep voice. The ranger looked at him with a surprised voice.

‘’What are you saying John? After waiting here for days, you kicking me out of the expedition?’’ she asks with an angry tone. ‘’You cant do that, this forest is my life, I wont sit back, doing nothing!’’

‘’Don’t be silly Hannah, look at these strong warriors. They aren’t scouts, they are warriors, ready to remove whatever is in there. And lets be honest, who would follow you into a battle when me, sir John, is here to strike, and strike hard. Haha.’’ The replies with a proud voice with a tone like she is silly even suggesting being part of this.

Hannah just stared angrily at John for several seconds. Then she rolled her eyes, turned around and took a few steps away from him. ‘’Fine, do whatever you want. Not that I can stop you anyway.’’ A short paus before she continued. ‘’But you cant stop me from doing what I want either. And I will head into that forest and I will find out what is wrong. And if you try to stop me.’’ She put an arrow on her bow.’’ This arrow have your name on it.’’

It wasn’t until now that the second man took a step forward. With a rapier at his hip he placed himself between the two. ‘’Now now, lets calm down a bit. Im sure we can agree on something that will work for everyone, don’t you agree? We all have the same goal, to clear the forest of whatever is haunting it. Right? There is twelve players here, lets split up, four each and Im sure we will all succeed and walk out of this mission as allies.’’ He turned around to the players. ‘’Brave adventurers, I apologise for their behavior and we have kept you here for to long. Let us move out.’’

And with that, the three NPC’s headed out. Just as they turned around, for every player that had picked a weapon, a menu appeared infront of them.

The three NPC’s walked in a normal speed. Slow enough to be able to catch up with a small jog, but fast enough to not feel annoyingly slow. The hawk on Hanah’s shoulder unbfolded its wings, darted high up in the air and started circling around the group, its sharp eyes watching out for any danger that may approach them. The NPC walked in total silence for about half an hour before they reached the outskirts of the forest and stopped. ‘’And we are here.’’ They all said at the same time, looking into the darknbess between the tree’s.

As the time to head out got closer, Hannah could see more and more players showing up. Almost a dozen of adventurers have showed up. The intention of the special event had been to scout the area and see what the source of the strangeness was. But with this amount of players, they would maybe be able to chase it away totally, and cleanse the forest of this evil. Exactly when the ingame clock turned from 12:59 to 13:00, Hannah took a smooth jump up on a rock, so everyone could see her, followed by the hawk letting out a loud cry to silence the group of adventurers.

‘’Hello there adventurers of Aincrad. Im grateful that you have showed up to help me in my search for this new threat that have appeared in Ydalin forest. My first plans was to find it out on my own, but since several other explorers that have done the same haven’t returned even now, after several weeks, I decided to call for help. And with the help of brave heroes like you, we shall find out what this is all about.’’ She stood in silence for a few seconds, scanning the crowd. Then her eyes stopped on Mari. ‘’Hi there Mari. Good to have you with us.’’ And after that she jumped down from the rock. To the left of the her the players could see there was several racks with different kinds of weapons. She walked up to the nearest one. ‘’Everyone, you don’t have worry about not bringing you own equipment, you free to take one of these.’’ She said and held out her arm towards the racks. The different weapons to be seen was swords, axes, warhammers and staffs.

Zandra saw more and more people joining the plaza, it turned out to be quite a large group actually, much bigger then the defenders of the guild hall. She saw Mari and took a few steps towards her and was just going to greet her as she spotted Baldur as he did just that. Zandra stopped and turned around, back to seeing if there was any other familiar faces. It was a few familiar ones, but no one she really new. Except the lioness. But she seemed to be having company already, so the berserk healer kept to herself. She listened to the scout NPC to try to pick up as much useful information as she could. She looked at the amount of different weapons and walked up to them. ‘’Staff?’’ she said to herself. ‘’It may have a connection to the attack. Or what do you say Zita?’’ she finished, throwing a glance at her kings eagle. Zandra started cheking out the other weapons as well, thinking about which one to pick.

Even though she had used her banner, it seemed like her party members damage didn’t increase even a little bit. ‘’Wait what? What is wrong?’’ she said to herself. She took a closer look on the banner, she haven’t needed to say anything last times she had used it. Had something changed or what? When she dived into her own thougths, the battle around her was still raging on, the defenders of Aincrad slowly but steadily reduced the healthbars of the mighty fantasy creature they was fighting. The same creature that had helped her, Macradon, Morgenstern, Ariel, Baldur and Hestia when they was fighting the shadow the first time. Why was everyone attacking him now?

It was at that moment her focus fully turned back to the present. Not because of the battle between the players and the bull. No, it was a loud sound of snapping fingers all around her, followed by a familiar voice. “The fight’s over here!  Do pay attention, will you?  Funny how the pain doesn’t stop just because you do!” Her eyes went to the shadow. Followed by another wave of combatmoves, from Orgoth and his opponents. Combined with her previous speech, this lit her fighting spirit and her crimson eyes looked directly at where the shadows eyes would be. ‘’Pay attention you say? And that comes from the same thing that don’t even react when someone screaming at you.’’ She said with a cheerful voice and a smile on her lips. ‘’Sorry, but don’t have time for you right now, gonna join the fight you mentioned.’’ And with those words, she charged towards Orgoth.

But she didn’t held her axe in attack ready grip, nor charged up any sword art. Instead, she swiped thru menus onfront of her. A few meters before she was within reach, she stopped and turned around. With a smirk on her face she did a quick screenshot with the floor boss in the background. A moment later she continued her charge, charging up her strongest sword art this time, with axe in her hands. ‘’Hello mate, remember me?’’ she asked before the black axe cleaved thru the right leg of her opponent, before she disengaged and went back to her party.

Zandra:

Zandra felt her hand shaking as the man infront of her and looked into her eyes, given her the strength she needed to keep walking, he had shared his own strength, with just two eyes and a smile he made her take the final few steps. She felt nervous, was fighting with herself to stay where she was. Being on the battlefield and figting dozens of minotaurs would be an easier fight then this. Out there, her other mind would carry her thoughts. Thou she felt that another mind helped her fighting this battle. She looked deep into his eyes. Slowly, she felt the weakness in her legs disappear. And with that, she felt a bit more steady. She herd the priest saying something, thou she couldn’t hear the words. But as she got more and more safe and back in the present, she herd Itzal’s voice. ‘’Zandra…’’ he started before reading his vows for her. If he hadn’t explained for her before the wedding, this would have struck her with panic.

She listened to him talking. Not only the words but also the voice itself filled her with warmth. She had never thougth she would have someone thinking like this of her. She wasn’t wort… her crimson eyes got shiny as she bit her lower lip. She felt the tears was so close, but she kept them back. ‘’…faith and trust in you.’’ He finished and it was Zandra’s turn. She opened her mouth, but no sound was herd. She tried again, with the same result. It wasn’t until that moment that she understood how this must look to Itzal. With her hesitating this much, was he thinking she didn’t wanted this? That she forced herself to merry him against her own will? She would have to explain that to him afterwards. Or did she? She looked at him, blinked away the shine from her eyes. She gulped.

‘’Itzal… I promise to love you, now and forever. I will stand by your side, thru good and evil, never abandon you. I will follow you wherever you go. I will never cheat or betray you.’’ She finished. Her face now looked a bit worried. What would Itzal think? She knew she wasn’t very good at these kind of stuff, but had thougth it turned out okay. But after hearing Itzal’s, this must have sounded like crap.

Zandra had been standing in the back, overlooking the battlefield more then participating in the combat. She is hesitating a bit even. Well, not if she will charge in or not, more that if she shall do what she had planned to do. The players here have looked so ready, maybe she didn’t needed to use her banner. But well, whattaheck?! Would she keep it in her inventory forever? No, now was the time. A few swipes in her menues and the unique item appeared. With a black axe in one hand and a long pole in the other, she joined the frontline. There, the banner unfolded, showing what may be their icon. ‘’I will not stand by. In the presence of evil. With our enemy standing infront of us. The enemy to humanity. Each of us, have been thru battles and got experience, an elite-force marine would only dream off. Together, we are stronger then anything that you will put in our way. Together, as the frontlines of sword art online!!!’’ She said with a powerful and steady voice. She told him as the banner of leadership unfolded in the wind, showing a representation for the soldiers that was present. And increased the strength of her party.

Zandra nodded. It seemed Mari wasn’t very informed, but that was fine. It just gave them a subject to talk about, so maybe the aura surrounding them would ease a bit. ‘’Nice, lets move out then.’’ She said and the black and orange haired womens headed out into the wild.

‘’So, to begin with we need to find it. And yes you are right, it should be big. Thou this floor, it is huge. Like, very hug…’’ she quickly stopped. Mari probably understood what she meant, don’t have to repeat it several times. She putted on a nervous smile. ‘’Ehe… well, when we finds it, we need to climb onto it.
