  1. From rooftop to rooftop, making sure to watch her footing with each leap. A feat such as this would not have been possible for her in the real world without months of training and practice. Lucky for her, in this moment, this wasn’t the real world. She watched as the dark waters rose, almost fully engulfing the entirety of Nimbus. At some point during her parkour session above the atop a flooded settlement, she lost interest in making sure the others made it out. At least, she was no longer making it her problem. Holding back as she was earlier caused her demise nearly three times. She wouldn’t make that mistake again. The rest of them were capable, they would be fine.

Finally out of Nimbus once more, Jevi took no time to celebrate. She no longer had higher ground to travel upon, but at least the waters were rising at a slower pace. Her boots sloshed through the sludge and muk as fast as she was physically able until there was nowhere to go but up. She had arrived at the base of the mountain.

Using the path when possible, the brunette scrambled up the mountainside, climbing up the slippery sidr whenever it was possible. However, sometimes it was just too slippery, and one wrong grab would send her sliding back down to the path below her. Her knees scraped against the dirt covered path, glaring up at the slope to find a better approach.

She did not even notice the other potential danger that hurried towards her at an uncontrollable pace. The pounding hoofbeats masked by the roar of the storm,  a pack of spooked horses intended to push through the woman towards safety.

  2. The sludgy human that dragged Jevi towards the murky depths was scattered with a swift kick. The tendrils that sprung out from its form, with nothing to hold them down, crashed back down into the water, forming with it once again. The woman let out a heavy gasp as she grasped for solid ground. A helping hand from Aquan got her to her feet again. The woman shot golden daggers at the space where the ooze had held her, "I've had it with this shit!" she shouted into nothingness. Regaining her composure, she turned back to Aquan, who seemed just as lost as she was. "We just need to get out of the city, follow everyone's lead and make it up the mountain." Her finger acted as a guide, pointing towards the highest peak that could be seen over Nimbus' walls. "I can't guarantee we will be safe.. but we will have more of a chance that being within the city walls."

There was no straight shot to the nearest city gates without swimming, so they would need to use the rooftops, both collapsed and still standing, as their path way. With a quick swipe of her hand to summon her inventory, Jevi's form shimmered in a white light and seemed to decrease in mass. As the light faded, her heavy armor was gone, leaving her in her more casual adventuring attire. Eying the next closest rooftop, the woman took a running start before leaping over the gap. Her foot slipped, but she was able to catch herself with her arms. After pulling herself up, she looked back towards the other group. "Come on!"

  3. The sky continued to grow darker by the minute, which was Jevi's cue to get the hell out of dodge. She could see a few more monsters poking out from the grass, most likely their spawn point once the sun went down. Of course, the monsters were spawning frequently, while the materials seemed to be lacking today. Typical. Staying out of any aggro zones of said monsters, Jevi passed through the courtyard's gates. From there, it was a pretty short walk back to the city of Taft. Though the safe zone barrier was invisible, and players had no indication of entering the zone aside from a notification on their HUD, Jevi could feel the wave of relief that washed over her as she stepped into town. As she neared the center of town, she slowed to a halt. Taft was a rather nice place, definitely beat the desert settlement of Fortaleza. She thought, after a day of hard work, maybe she deserved sleep comfortably in one of the town's inns.

  4. The box sat there, stuck between the tall iron fence and the brick wall of the mansion. A classic wooden chest, like one you would find in any other fantasy RPG. There was no lock on the latch, so opening it was fairly simple. As he hands reached towards the lid, she hesitated. "Wait.. what if this is some monster in disguise.." She had heard of mimics before, monsters that disguise themselves as chests for unlucky adventurers to stumble upon. Pondering it for just a moment, the woman's shoulders shrugged. "Only one way to find out." Her hands reached out once more.

The chest opened with ease, with no teeth or tentacle like tongues lapping at her. Inside, was a small amount of col, some materials, and some consumables marked <<Unidentified>> "Hey, thats better than nothing." she said with a smile on her face, as she placed all of the items into her inventory.

  5. Jevi took one more look up and down the front of the mansion. The building stretched most of the way across the courtyard, leaving little to no space between the brick walls and the tall fence surrounding them. "Hm?" Something out of the corner of her eye caught her attention. This time, however, it wasn't a monster. At the far end of the mansion, wedged between the corner of the building and the fence, something just barely poked out. She could not have seen it unless she was this close to the front door. Cautiously, she wandered towards the mysterious object, being careful not to walk through the jungle of grass. The closer she got to the item, the more she realized what it was. It was probably the first time she had found a treasure chest while wandering around in Aincrad, and given she was on a mission for materials, new equipment, and Col in general, this was a pretty exciting. occasion.

  6. One would think that Jevi would learn after their mishap within a haunted mansion on the second floor.. but no, here she was, trying to break into yet another abandoned mansion. The large doors had two boards laid over them, nailed to the frame in the shape of an 'x". Wrapping her fingers around the boards, she leaned back and tried to pull them off... nothing. "..Maybe.." she thought to herself as she took a step back and raised her fists in a fighting stance. With a pivot of her foot, Jevi let a punch fly into the center of the X.

What else should she have expected"Yeah, fuck you too." she said to the immortal object, shaking her hand in an attempt to remove the tingling feeling. With one last look at the door, and then over her shoulders towards any other possible entrances, she surrendered. "Maybe it's about time I head home.."

  7. The day continued to pass on, and Jevi's material count was not climbing like it had when she first arrived here. It seemed as though, despite having a faster respawn rate, the amount of times a material could be plucked was limited- possibly per day.The sky went from straight blue to hues of orange and red. She didn't have much more time here before night overtook the Eleventh Floor, and she knew if she was caught out here alone at night, she probably would not make it back. Despite not finding any other materials, her tugged on her a bit towards the mansion. She wondered if it was at all possible to get inside.. maybe that was where the good loot was. Her eyes scanned the courtyard for the praying mantis, or any other large creatures for that matter. When the coast was clear, she made a break for the boarded up front door.

  8. Once she was on the opposite side of the central fountain, she turned and sat on the ground, her back pressing against the aged stone structure. With a heavy sigh of relief, the woman ran a hand through her hair. "That was close.." she said to herself, taking one more look over the lip of the fountain to see the large insect's whereabouts. She had put as much distance as humanly possible without placing herself within another patch of tall grass.. who knows what else lurked within there. As she began to turn around once more, she pulled a double take. Her vision focused on a sight within the fountain, two materials sitting right next to each other. "Gotcha." Jevi said with a smirk as she rounded the fountain once more, retrieving the two items and placing them into the confinement on her inventory .

  9. The grass nearby rustled again, catching Jevi's attention. Probably another squirrel stealing all of her materials, she thought to herself as she turned in its direction. She watched as a nearby patch of grass shifted with the movement of this unseen creature... though it definitely seemed larger than a squirrel. Its head poked through the tops of the grass, followed by half of its body. It was a praying mantis, though its body was about the size of hers and it stood about 7 feet tall. Her golden eyes went wide before she dropped herself to the ground, trying her best to stay out of its line of sight. "Shit shit shit.." she cursed to herself as she crawled on her hands and knees to the opposite side of the courtyard. She kept as quiet as she could, checking over her shoulder every few feet to make sure it wasn't following her.

  10. The two players followed a smaller path that traveled down a handful of stairs and opened up onto another walkway that traced the shoreline. There was no sandy beach on this part of the island, but that just added to the tranquility of this spot. The bench Jevi had spotted was unoccupied, offering a scenic view of the blue ocean water before them. The reflection of the sun refracted as the water softly bobbed up and down. The scattered image caused the water to glisten, and almost appear white directly under the sun's gaze.

Jevi smiled as she took one of the foiled sandwiches from Oscar, the heat the meal had managed to pertain warmed the woman's hands. She was glad that their digital pockets were able to keep food from getting cold. Like a child on Christmas morning, the brunette went to work unwrapping the gift that had been placed into her lap, the power of the aroma doubling as it basked in its full glory. She was hardly able to hesitate immediately digging into the sandwich, however she unconsciously allowed Oscar to take the first bite. Were it courtesy, or caution, she manipulated the bun within her hands as she watched her companion consume the sandwich. After that, it was fair game. Her teeth sank into the toasted bread, and then the meat and cheese following shortly after. "Mmmm" was all she managed to get out as she chewed her first bite, "It tastes even better than it smells."

Finishing her meal without wearing the juices as a perfume or the cheese as lipstick was definitely challenging. There was definitely at least one time she turned to smile in appreciation to Oscar while sporting a splash of gooey yellow on the corner of her mouth. In the end, however, she managed to avoid getting it on her shirt and dropping any on the ground. Definitely a big win in her book. "I don't think I've ever had a better tasting meal while here." she said as she slouched slightly on the bench, allowing her head to fall back, with a hand on her very full tummy. Her eyes shifted over to Oscar as he procured two glass bottles of cola from his inventory. Jevi sat upright again and took the drink with a soft smile on her face. He called it coke, but it tasted a bit more like the knockoff brands. Not that they were bad, just slightly different.

The questions finally started coming out, the first one being Jevi's home in the real world. For a very short moment, she pondered on keeping that information to herself. Online games were always full of predators under the guise of innocent players. But... SAO was different, she was looking at Oscar's real face, and he would be stuck here just as long as she was. "I'm from the United States. New York, actually." She was pretty sure that was the first time she had revealed that to anyone.. maybe Grave, or Ruby, but she couldn't remember. "How about you?"

  11. The blonde began to look around frantically for her companion, whom Jevi could have sworn was right behind her when they first made contact. Jevi took a quick look around, using the description that @Lessa had given them of Alkor's look. Her golden eyes finally peered over the edge next to where Lessa searched. The black ooze seemed a bit more sporadic, bubbling up as if it had just swallowed something -- or someone in this case. Jevi pointed a finger towards the pool, before turning to Lessa, a solemn look on her face, dreading informing her of her friend's possible demise.

As she opened her mouth to speak, she felt something grab onto her hand, nearly throwing her off balance. Shooting a glance to her side, the shadowy water had taken a humanoid form, though one arm was replaced with whipping tendrils of black sludge. Where a mouth would be separated into a horrifying grin, before another tentacle shot out, wrapping around her ankle. The brunette's back crashed into the surface as the shadowy creature yanked her from her feet towards the murky depths. Jevi quickly flipped over, grabbing onto whatever she could with her free hand. She held onto dear life, her virtual muscles straining, and beginning to numb.

  12. The woman felt her back hit the ooze as she fell, the tendrils that splashed out to the side already retracting towards her body. They wanted to claim another victim. Jevi's golden eyes clamped shut, accepting her fact. However, fate had not intended her to fall at this moment.. or at least another player decided it wasn't her time to go. A hand grasped onto Jevi's wrist and pulled with all of their might. Quickly, the brunette, black sludge dripping from her hair and back, found footing on the fallen debris, and used that to assist in her rescue. One foot in front of the other, and with a the girl pulling her upwards, Jevi righted herself and stepped back onto solid ground where the rest of the players were. A few heavy huffs, Jevi looked to the girl who saved her. A bit younger than her, she seemed, and a face entirely unfamiliar. "Thanks, I owe you one." she said with a smile. Taking a quick look around, Jevi saw that she was not the only player who fell within those couple of moments. Two others that had been nearby, including one that she saved earlier, had gone over. raising her hands to her head, she pushed the soaked, brunette hair from her face while turning to the blonde who had approached them earlier, "So whats the plan?"

  13. The waters continued to rise higher and higher. It was physically impossible to not stand knee deep in the muck without finding higher ground first. Even while standing on pieces of a collapsed in roof of a poor citizen's home, Jevi found herself wading in water up to her calves. It seemed the decision had been made to keep moving and not hunker down inside of Nimbus' tavern. Hell, if the sludge made its way into that place while they were in there, there was most likely no escape.

Off to the side, Jevi heard another two players asking if they needed assistance, two that she had never met before. "We're alright, thankfully. We need to get out of Nimbus and climb the mountains." Of course, back where she had come from,  climbing the mountain should have been her first instinct. "We should use the roofs to travel, probably get swept away in the water if we-" Using some of the fallen debris as stairs, Jevi began making her way towards a more intact roof higher out of the water before she felt the ground underneath her foot give out.

Jevi stumbled, her armored body cracking into the scattered pieces of stone. Reaching out her hands, she attempted to grab anything she could to prevent her from falling into the liquid below. "A-Ahh!" she screamed out as she began to plummet.

  14. Not sure if speechless from shock, or words just did not come to him at the moment. Jevi would give the man a pat on the shoulders, before turning to Aquan, who had thanked him and introduced himself. "I don't know what a Firm Anima is, but I'll go anywhere to get out of this shit hole." Nearly forgetting the slowly crawling muck, Jevi picked up her feet to free herself. The sludge made a sucking sound as she pulled herself from its grasp, falling and splashing into the slowly building pool below her. She took a quick gander at her surroundings, the black water quickly rose, flooding the entirety of Nimbus. Maybe being inside the city's walls was a bad idea after all.

    Crash!

Another building crumpled under the weight of the black ooze, the debris slowly becoming encased in the liquid. "I'm not sure if a tavern is such a good idea. At this rate, all the buildings will end up like this one, and that'll be before Nimbus will turn into a black, sludge swimming pool. I think we need to find higher group outside of the city's walls. Find as many players as we can within the city, and get the hell out."

  15. Feeling fed up with finding nothing, Jevi crossed her ankles and let herself drop to the ground in a cross legged position. Propping her chin on her hand, her free hand continued to wistfully sift through the blades of grass, hopeless that she would find any more materials. "That bastard must have lied to me. The respawn rate of these materials is shiiit." I mean, she did have enough to craft some Tier 2 items.. all she could really do was just hope that the Cardinal system would gift her with some perfect rated crafts of the items that she needed specifically. Hell, at this point, did she even want a new curved sword? Fighting with Martial Arts just seemed so much cooler.. and she could just go purchase hand wraps or gauntlets for something like that. "Hmph." she pouted, before pushing herself back up to a standing position. "Maybe I'll give it a bit more time and see what I can find."

He's an asshole and he knows it." She smacked herself in the forehead, shaking her head, "Stop getting sidetracked, you're looking for materials. He doesn't deserve your worry." Right, materials, okay, lets get back to it. With a brisk walk, Jevi moved to the other side of the courtyard to hopefully gather some crafting materials. Without taking time to rest of really dwell on it, she searched. Like trying to find your keys when running late to a function, if grass could be turned over in her looking, the entire lawn would probably be upside down. Maybe she was looking in the wrong spots, because there was just damn near nothing where she was looking. Or maybe she actually did jinx herself, and this was her punishment for actually having joy for once. "I just want new armor." she jokingly whined to herself.

Of course, Jevi was not met with a green health bar that very slowly trickled down with each attack. No, this time, she was met with a purple pentagon with the message <Immortal Object> displayed on it. "Pft, I didn't want to try and break you anyway." Jevi said, hiding her defeat, turning around with hands shoved into her pockets and walking away. Despite hitting an object that could not be damaged.. attacking with Martial Arts felt good. Felt natural even, where the curved sword she struggled to wield. Maybe that was her true calling in SAO, so be an unarmed fighter.. rather than a tank. "Hm.." she hummed in thought, "Grave was an unarmed fighter." She solemnly recalled the one man that Jevi allowed past her thick walls, the one man she truly fell for. Even now, she caught herself thinking of the flirtatious asshole from time to time... she really did miss him.

  18. Despite her hatred for that quest, there she was, standing before the large boulder as if she was Breaking the Unbreakable all over again.Shifting her weight from one foot to another, Jevi crossed her arms. She was somewhat sizing up the boulder.. didn't look as tough as the one the old man made her shatter. She could probably break this one in half the time, yeah definitely. Looking over her shoulder for any nearby players that may have been watching her make a fool of herself, Jevi spread her feet slightly into a more balanced fighting stance. Her fingers clenched into two fists, that she held at her side. Fighting without a weapon felt.. almost more comfortable than the last time. Could it have been because she had unlocked the Martial Arts skill. "Worth a shot" Her fists ignited in a reddish light before she released two punches, Pop Pop! into the side of the boulder.

  19. Jevi the pressure of a yawn work its way up from her chest until she could not hold it in anymore. Placing a hand over her mouth, the woman let out her yawn. Gathering materials was a lot more boring than she had remembered... but the payoff was going to be excellent. After wiping a small tear that had formed from the corner of her eyes, Jevi took another look around the courtyard, her eyes locking in a large boulder that seemed to have fallen from the mountainside. Reminiscing on the ungodly amount of time it took for her to complete that punch-a-boulder quest, the woman took a short walk over to where the rock sat. Hell, not having a weapon or armor equipped made her feel as if she was taking that quest all over again. Fuck that, she thought to herself with a scoff, never again will she help someone with that daunting task.

  20. Yup.. she definitely had jinxed herself, thinking she was lucky of her score so far. A quick search around the safer areas gave her nothing. Maybe she just needed a break, a quick sit down to rest her legs and then back in the game. Who knows, maybe with the shorter respawn time, the materials she had already plucked would be ripe and ready again. Taking a walk over to the empty, dried up fountain, the brunette took a seat on the curved, stone wall. She gazed into the interior of the fountain, the stone surface slightly cracked, moss and weeds growing through sporadically at various parts. Placing her palm down on the interior, she felt nearly no trace of water being present. How long had this mansion been abandoned? She wondered if there was ever a family living here, or if this spot had always been derelict since Aincrad's beginning. Probably just world building, she deduced.

  21. She continued to pick material after material until the small little treasure trove had been expended. "Perfect." she said to herself as she stood upright, checking her inventory for the totals she had collected so far. Ten, that wasn't a bad number to start with. By the end of the day, she hoped to double that. Eh, she rather not jinx herself.. this would end up being an utterly boring walk through an empty courtyard if she ended up finding nothing for the rest of the day. Stepping away from the tall grass, Jevi decided to continue wandering the courtyard, steering clear of any potential dangers. Most of the monsters in this area stuck to areas closed to the mansion, or just outside of the surrounding fence. A few monsters seemed to lurk in the tall grass, but their presence was mostly made obvious by a large appendage or constantly shifting grass. Yeah.. without a weapon, it would definitely be best for Jevi to steer clear of them.

"At this rate, I'll have enough to make some new gear in no time."  Awkwardly shifting one of the materials into the crook of her arm, Jevi swiped a hand upwards to summon her inventory, and relinquished both of the items to the digital storage box. "Ah." She sighed in relief, brushing the dirt off of her hands. Her eyes wandered back to the location where she had found the previous two materials and, lo and behold, something else sat idly there as well. Dropping to a crouch, Jevi parted the grass with her hands. She had found the jackpot, even more materials than she had thought. Her golden eyes practically glowing due to her find. 23. Okay, back on track. Bringing her hands up to her face, Jevi gave her cheeks a few good smacks to snap her out of the funk she had put herself in. It was time to start working on herself, to start working on battling that crippling depression of hers. Yeah her past was shitty, yeah theres a good reason she's always sad, but just letting her emotions take over would just get her killed. And despite as bad as it would get for her, she truly did not want that. For once, she actually wanted change. First step to that was.. to find more materials. Diving back into the search, Jevi went to patrolling the edge of the tall grass, pushing aside the green blades with her foot, just checking to see if anything caught her eye. And soon enough, something did! But not just one thing, two things! Another two materials just sitting in the grass, ripe for the picking.

  24. "I was never really much of a movie watcher, or TV at all for that matter. So my knowledge of any of those references are pretty dull. The outfit just made you look like the mobster type. But I like it, can't lie. Not everyday you see someone walking around in a full suit, rather than armed to the teeth in metal plates." There was an old player whom she thought she had run into at some point who also always wore a suit.. a tux to be exact. The name escaped her, but he was an asshole anyway. Thinking back to the prior topic at hand, the brunette shrugged her shoulders, they really had been in quite the similar situation. "But hey, we've all been through some shit. At least you're out and about, so it seems. My mind usually ends up shutting down and I lock myself in my dungeon of a shop for days at a time."  Realizing that her statement was, well, a bit of a downer, she shook her head and tried to laugh it off. "Now here I go being the downer."

If Jevi was killing the mood with talk of her depressive episodes, Oscar's presentation of two, foiled sandwiches that smelled orgasmic, for lack of a better term, definitely cleared the air of that nonsense. Before Oscar even described what awaited them within the shiny metal packaging, Jevi felt herself salivating. Even then, Jevi could recognize the smell of the American delicacy that was a cheese steak. "Ohh my God" her voice almost a purr, "I can't tell you the last time I had a good Philly cheesesteak. We absolutely cannot let those wait."

Taking a quick look around from where they stood, the brunette noticed a path leading off from the main road, down a sort hill to a bench that sat overlooking the water. "Why don't we sit down and eat those first."

  25. Bouncing the material off of her bicep, Jevi caught the item again and then placed it into her inventory with its counterpart. "This really isn't that bad... would be a lot easier if I had someone with me.. God I need friends... and here I am talking to myself, more than I've ever talked to myself before." Fuck, she was lonely as hell... even if she didn't want to admit it. Opal was dead, Ruby was dead, everyone in the Holy Dragon Alliance pretty much separated after that creepy mansion episode. She missed Spencer, that was for sure. And honestly, even though it had been so long.. she missed Grave. He was always there when she didn't want him, and when she needed him. A heavy sigh escaped her lips, her golden eyes looking at the ground solemnly. Eventually, Jevi filled her lungs with a deep breath through her nostrils. Pressing her palms into her face, she would run her hands over the top of her head and through her hair. "Alright, Alex,  enough feeling sorry for yourself."
