[PP-F29] Hark Triton, Hark! | To Shine a Light
Morningstar replied to Morningstar's topic in Intermediate Floors
Smix was a stretch, but it was better than nothing. While Wulfrin grasped at straws, Morningstar further explored the bedroom. Another book—this time a novel—sat on the nightstand. The title read, "Love Among the Lichens by Scarlett Burbadge." The book was unfamiliar to him, so he wondered if the author was real or fictitious, created quest immersion. He opened it and skimmed the first few pages. It was a romance novel, he gathered. It wasn't his genre. The desk opposite to him had far more interesting items on display. He sat down and pulled the lamp cord. It illuminated the room well en - Today

Wulfrin replied to Morningstar's topic in Intermediate Floors
"Cool," Wulfrin said as he looked over the various trinkets passed his way. "I haven't done any before so I'll let you take the lead on this one. I'll keep focusing on the riddle." Wulfrin made his way over to the bed and sat down on the rather uncomfortable matress. Out came his draft book again this time he turned to yet another blank page and reevaluated their progress thus far, with the new knowledge that they were looking for a combination. The kitchen was easy enough to figure out, considering Wulfrin had laready stumbled on the commonality, all the cretures in the scramble had one -

Morningstar had know idea what the last bit of the riddle was referring to, but Wulfrin's theories for the previous two parts had weight. He knelt down to look at the combination lock. Four numbers were required to open it. With a curled fist, he knocked on the door. "Hello? Any lighthouse keepers home?" He waited a second. And then another. Nobody replied. They returned from the tower with more questions than answers. The next room they found was clearly a bedroom—presumably, it was the lighthouse keeper's. The bed was made neatly with no indication that anyone had slept in it -

Morningstar replied to Freyd's topic in Intermediate Floors
"Let's call it five," Morningstar corrected, joining from the rear. He was elbow deep in an inky black mess. He wasn't even sure what kind of creature it was anymore. Tentacles constricted around his arm, tightening the more he struggled. Somehow, despite being impaled by a spear-like jab, it lived on. His free hand burned golden and he sliced his way out of the monster's grip. He was disheveled; his normally pristine jacket was in tatters and it looked as though he'd been playing in the dirt. Nevertheless, his smile remained. The ruination of his Ilridge outpost left him frustrated -

Wulfrin replied to Morningstar's topic in Intermediate Floors
Wulfrin shrugged in unison with Morningstar as the two were equally stumped on the word scramble. While they had an answer, Wulfrin was far from confident that it was correct. He recollected his things and followed Morningstar up into the lantern room of the lighthouse. Glass crunched beneath their feet as they stepped foot inside. It seems a lantern had fallen and shattered, possibly in whatever had caused the lighthouse keeper's disappearance. Wulfrin clocked the literal writing on the ceiling. "I'm still working through the other two riddles," Wulfrin said as they descended back down t -

Morningstar replied to Morningstar's topic in Intermediate Floors
"Well, okay then," he shrugged, moving on from the kitchen despite Wulfrin's warning to not split up. "Dromedary it is." He found himself drawn to a dark room at the far end of the dwelling. It led to the tower, he found. A staircase spiraled up the lighthouse, clearly stopping at the top, where the light was. One step at a time, he ascended. The gate at the top was already open. He assumed the lighthouse keeper had forgotten to lock it and climbed the ladder, pulling himself into the lantern room. The first thing he noticed was the writing on the ceiling. What can be found in t -

"Right," Wulfrin sighed as he struggled to come up with a solution. "Alright let's do it the old fashioned way." Wulfrin spawned a decent sized satchel at his feat and began to dig through its contents. It was his in the field blacksmithing kit that held just about everything he needed to work in the field. He pulled out a soot covered journal and piece of graphite, thumbing past several different diagrams and notes detailing various projects he had been working on until he came to a blank page. He started with the initial scramble of letters. It took several minutes of placing letters in -

He scavenged the opposite end of the kitchen, hunting down any clues that might hint towards the location of the lighthouse keeper. He dug through cupboards, pocketing a bundle of herbs before Wulfrin called back to him. When his guildmate mentioned a shopping list, Morningstar joined him. "Unicorn," he said, pointing at the third scramble on the list. The camel struck him as odd. The other two words, bound by mythology, did not have drawings attached to them. So why a camel? There wasn't an obvious link between them. Camels were very real creatures, unlike the other two. N -

Wulfrin replied to Morningstar's topic in Intermediate Floors
"Probably," Wulfrin replied as the duo pressed deeper into their shelter from the storm. "I've seen enough horror films to know the cardinal rule here: Don't split the party." Wulfrin marched slowly behind his guild master, his eyes scanning for anything that would pose any immediate threat. Their cursory exploration ended with them in the kitchen, a rather cozy feeling scene despite the raging storm outside. A lattice board supported various herbs against the wall opposite the duo. Wulfrin scoured the cabinets and cupboards, only dried goods and various cookbooks populated the area. Ligh -

The foghorn sounded loudly as they approached, drawing the ship in. The rocky waves made it difficult for them to dock, but thankfully, the boat wasn't their own. Morningstar settled for a rough landing, aiming the boat straight for the craggy shore. They collided with a smash, slowing with the breaking of their wooden sloop. Once they were nestled tightly in the rocks, they abandoned ship. The lighthouse stood tall, casting a glow from up above. They hurried inside the small stone shelter attached to it, desperate to escape the ceaseless storm. As they entered, a new quest was added to t -

Not ever being one to ignore when her husband called, she read the message that arrived in front of her. The call had once again come. The call to the frontlines. She knew he wasn't one to ignore danger, even after what happened during the last raid. She'd hoped to be by his side during the raid this time, but alas there was no time. She packed up her usual snacks that she made for long trips like this and went on her way. "To floor 5." Ciela recalled the first time she visited floor 5. Things weren't as dire. It was with Freyd and Wulfrin. She was preyed on by Abdullah that day, she won

HIs list continued to bring him to bosses he had yet to face before. This time he found himself on the familiar grounds of Floor 21, home of the fabled Forgotten Time King, a foe he had faced many times before. Unlike his other visits, Wulfrin was laser focused on his goal of raid preparations. The clock was ticking on his preparation phase so his tunnel vision was on full display. "Thanks for helping me out," Wulfrin sighed as he and Ciela stepped off the teleporter on Floor 21. "I mean it. This raid has been all I've been able to think about. We'll likely need your help. The launch of the Fatal Error event kicked Wulfrin into overdrive. He assumed this was the signal that the boss raid was around the corner, and with the game as hectic as it was, he figured there would most likely not be a pre-raid meeting. As such he had to move his plans of boss collection up his priority list a ways. His first target was on Floor 5. It was the younger brother to his favorite mob, Terra Firma. As he stepped into the hot sands of Floor 5, he pulled up his menu and sent a message to two players he hopped would assist him. To: Astra, KnightessCiela From: Wulfrin In

Morningstar, deep in his work, had completely missed Wulfrin leaving the outpost. He scribbled and scrawled vague notes in some strange form of shorthand that even he would have trouble deciphering later. On the ground next to him was a Shambler. It lay so still that one might have thought it dead, but for its shifty bug eyes darting around the room. He poked it with the tip of his sword, gently so as not to damage it. He was rather proud of his method of capture. Through trial and error, he discovered that Paralytic Venom was an effective and inexpensive form of sedation. It lasted about

"Go to hell!" A curse shamed everyone's ears as the maid threw all of her remaining strength into a final kick that blasted stone into the distance. She would lay there, panting ruthlessly and planning how best to go about killing the master if he gave her any other task than the shit she has been through today. "You are... quite something young one. Even if you did not necessarily use my intended style you reduced the rock to rubble faster than some of my best learner. I think you have earned the right to be among the ranks of the pugilists." He would say. 'Quest Complete!' would ap -

With another full-force kick, the boulder crumbled into it was nothing but a small mound just smaller than a large breed of dog. The thought quickly left her though as she attempted the final blow on the boulder. Her legs would give out, though. The maid fell backwards on to her rear end where she collapsed further to the ground. While sitting on her back she tried to get her foot moving but it refused her command. "Come on! You have to give that to me! It's smaller than me at this point!" The girl pleaded but the master simply shook his head solemnly. She knew that it wasn't going to hap -

A stronger kick of frustration tore into the boulder. The fractures were as deep as a fissure in the earth, ripping the outer shell of the oversized paper weight into smaller and smaller pieces that crumbled around it. The main piece of the structure was about her size now. Two or three more attacks would finish it if she could handle just a little more. Her legs were undamaged thanks to the weapon made by that blacksmith but they were burning to the point that she felt as though she could barely stand. Her rasped panting didn't go unnoticed though. "Wouldn't a short break be in order -

Her heels were becoming a more deadly and precise weapon with every kick she dealt to the boulder. It was below twenty percent health points - Invigorating to say the least. She wanted nothing more than to get away from this mountain and to never return to this floor ever again. If all the quests in the game were like this one she was not sure that she could handle doing all of them to catch back up to the frontlines. If that was the case, though, they'd be out of Aincrad already. "Break damn you! Let's finish this already! I want to get some sushi and sleep for the rest of the week!" Tok -

Flurries of kicks kept adding small pebbles at her feet as she continued to chip away at the boulder. Another message would come through to her mailbox but she would ignore it for the most part. She did not want to stop in fear of losing steam. This was the home stretch akin the last mile of a marathon. Somehow, she never thought she would be able to hate something more than that but here they were now. "You certainly have the spirit to survive out there based on what I've seen. Even without my techniques you've really shown that boulder who the boss is, so to say. Even faster than I've s -

Tokki stepped around to the blank side of the boulder, a new canvas ready to be painted upon... with her boots the brush. In its state now, the boulder was unlikely to last much longer. She could only hope that was actually the case. Thankfully, critical hits were giving her a break for not having the buffs necessary to finish it quickly. It really didn't matter that much to her as long as she acquired the skill in the end of the quest. Steel rang when connecting with stone. Cracks began to form again, much more quickly than the other half as she expected. "Not much longer now, youngster. -

Various sounds of scuffling, banging, and twanging awoke Hanami from her unintended slumber. It took a moment after her eyes focused for her to realize where she was. After being knocked away from her player she had somehow flown through a building and out of a window, ricocheting off of a nearby building and landing in a pile of what seemed to be rags and scraps of clothing. The dragon shook her head and looked around to attempt to assess her surroundings. She was in an alley between two buildings that were in various stages of disrepair. The one just across from her must have been where she
