Slowly taking each barrel up the stairwell, like a dumbass, he would look around the deck once more. There were ropes of varied thicknesses and lengths, with broken boards here and there. Some odd structures on the ship too. Some sort of poles system with metal spinner bits to them. The metal seemed rusty, but you could still see the usage from one of them carrying a rope that was spooled through. A pulley, was it? How did he know that? He would look down next to the stairwell, here a grated gate would lay upon the deck. "No.." Investigating the area, he would find it had hing

Bigger, faster and more aggressive was the only way Nari could describe the pair that she forced her attention upon now. They were clearly a half hand larger than the previous two, and carried a strong attitude in their gait. She’d levelled her shield in time – deflecting what would have been an otherwise deadly pair of charges towards her, though she’d not had the chance to bring her spear into position as well as she’d have liked. The blade – wreathed in flame once more – had flicked across the side of the first oxen, leaving a small gash and a spattering of flames that rushed across the for - Today

’It would be nice to sit back and relax now, eh Mio? Too bad there’s still work to do, though.’ She shifted on the spot, glancing out into the distance and looking for the next targets for what would become a repetitive task today. Groups of oxen moved throughout the valley, many of them huddled together for the protection that numbers give. Nari let her gaze pass over the larger groups, instead focusing on the lesser numbered outliers that would be easy to tackle by herself. She knew better than to rush into anything overtly dangerous; actions that she had once taken well beaten out of her be -

The first of the oxen exploded into pieces, leaving Nari alone to face the final one. They’d come in a rushed movement again, slamming into the shield and being impaled by the thorny metallic forms that exploded outwards in response. She’d waited until they began to recoil, before launching her own weapon forward once more – the flame upon its tip engulfing the side of the second oxen in a shower of brutality. The blade tore along the flank, leaving a large gash like the first oxen had suffered, the flames licking up the side of the creature and throwing it into a panic as it reared backwards -

The oxen slammed into her shield with force, the power of their charge sending Nari back a single step. She’d prepared herself, thankfully, but it hadn’t been enough to deflect and redirect the entire power of the large creatures. Though the damage was minimal, she knew she was going to have some pain later on – if only a phantom pain. Her spear didn’t hold back as the oxen shoved against her shield, lashing out with a wreath of flames that looked to engulf the oxen, slashing across one side and leaving a large, cauterised gash upon its flank. Flames licked up from the blade of the spear -

The late morning sun shone down on her, breaking away some of the chill that had overtaken the air. Nari had chosen the second floor out of habit, moving down from the main settlement and into the river valleys with ease and comfort. There wasn’t a lot here that could harm her – an important part of her plan in the coming hours. She’d intended to do nothing more than some basic grinding, cutting down mobs in order to obtain the materials, col and other resources required. That didn’t require her to enter areas of danger beyond the most basic of requirements. The wild oxen roamed the field -
Nari was more than familiar with the requirements of most games. Resources were required for anything, and more so than ever in Aincrad. Even though it was a digital world, basic amenities were still a necessity for survival – including food and drinks. That meant making some means of currency, in this case the famous col. Every player in Aincrad knew that basis, whether they came into the world with the knowledge, or learnt it over time. Nari’s current issue was the lack of any materials to her name – a fact that she had partially cursed herself for earlier. An up and coming player had c

Scents of the Wild: Leeching Nightmare Crisp autumn air filled her lungs as Nari settled onto the balcony of the house she now called home. Once, it had been nothing more than a place to rest and sleep. To store the valuables that had come to be her possessions within this world. Now, though, it was home. It was a place to find comfort, friendship and family – as much as one could, in a digital experience. The morning air flowed from her lips, crystallising slightly as the cold touched it – cold that wasn’t quite to the bone, but fresh enough to awaken her fully from the rest she’d l

The words were spoken in an abrupt bark that caused Lancaster to jump. Mari was too tired, too far gone to have that level of fear within her - perhaps...it was also because she knew what lay beneath. She knew intimately what it felt like to wear the armour the faceless lord wore. Semantics mattering little? Mari's brows furrowed at that, her jaw clenched. She wanted answers. "I doubt that...." Words muttered beneath her breath. But questioning him further here wasn't the right way to go about it. Perhaps Mari would try to talk to Raidou later...maybe he'd never have a true answer for her. The blade in hand the lord looms, heavy foot steps that portrayed a mass with weight exceeding its stature. That cool almost black blade hungers for death and dismemberment, having feasted plenty and yet still left unsatisfied. "Semantics, Vincent knows how little they matter. Isn't that right?" It barked in an abrupt scorn toward them both, twisting the blade and listening deeply to their pulse. An avatar silently portraying their discomfort like a human body, and functioning just the same. The blade raises high above Lancaster's head, who can visibly be seen flinching. Expecting the headsman

The man clung to Mari as if she was going to vanish, with her head nestled neatly in his neck her warmth all but welcome under such a trial. It felt like a court room where a prosecutor was speaking, and he was the defendant. Every word was rough and coarse like sandpaper, rubbing raw his skin and leaving him wounded beyond a simple scratch. "I believe you..." The man whispered to his beloved, allowing all of his insistent thoughts to be made false through faith alone. A gut reaction to the fact that what they had was real, not manufactured. "I want you too." he muttered weakly staring death i

Lancaster denied a chance to reply, the overlapping voices of the Faceless Lord addressed him and Mari immediately stilled. Her grip tightening to the point her fingers would draw drops of blood, her body shaking. Mari could hear the song of steel as sword drew against the ground. Mari reluctantly let Lancaster go, only to turn - staring directly at the Faceless Lord. Ensuring she were the shield to protect him. She'd not allow a repeat of her brother. Mari would throw herself onto the damn blade itself if it meant protecting him- giving him enough time to flee. "With all due respect..."

I laughed slapping Lancaster on the back, a little friendly pat. "Oh! you do~" I clasped my hands together, barely able to contain my glee. So he wanted her to give in to those oh so alluring primal instincts of hers? "She was so close! so- so close! But you stopped her!" I said as I clapped my hands together in tiny little plaps. "What did she say, what did she say?" I asked in mock thought. "Something about not wanting to get involved in another fingers business, hmmmm~? You Sure She shouldn't just join us? She already follows the rules~ Wouldn't that make it easier for you, no? Mi Ameekohh
