  2. The sliver of truth Castor revealed encouraged her to hold onto that smile. Her hand shifted up, trailing past her temple, and running fingers loosely through her hair just as the thrum of bass gave way to the gentle strum of a guitar. She’d have forgotten she was wearing that mask if she hadn’t brushed against its edge. ”Same here. The rare part, at least.” The smile went a bit wry. Hers were not the memories of years gone by, but the fantasies of what could have been. University was stressful, but she had never found her relief at the bottom of a bottle or upon a darkened dance floor. She wa
  3. They acted almost exactly as Nari expected – shaking themselves to their feet before launching into another charge. Nari’s shield bore the majority of the impact, shaking slightly as the boars were shoved off to the side and out of any chance of impacting her or Onora at all. She waited for them to pass by, before lashing out with her spear in another wide arc, the weapon’s blade slashing across three of the creatures and allowing Onora the safety and security she needed to rush forward and stab into their flanks again. ’Almost done here, and then maybe we can head back and get a cookin’.
  4. Nari rushed slightly forwards, settling herself into a controlled, ready position with her shield out before her, and the spear levelled on its edge. She waited as the boars turned to face her, their hooves pawing at the ground as they prepared themselves to charge. They came as a singular group, the ground rumbling as their bodies surged across the small distance towards her – only to find her form moving in a dance, the spear swinging outwards and slamming into the sides of their forms. The boars were thrown into confusion as the blade of the spear slashed along their sides, causing the
  5. Her attention was quickly drawn away by movement, something fluttered in and out of the corner of her eye. She turned to see another curious Raven hopping its way towards her. CAW Perhaps I have been chosen also. I suppose i get to try my luck with taming. she smiled softly and knelt down, sitting criss cross. With a slow, deliberate wave of her hand her menu appeared, she selected the item and it appeared before her. The food they had been given. She popped the lid off and sat it in front of her. Her voice resonated through the air calmly, "Hello lovely, are you hungry?" she o

  7. ’I…wasn’t expecting a tavern.’ Nari heard Onora giggle in response to her clear confusion. She’d expected to attend a bakery, or a gourmet cooking establishment – the fact that the training occurred within a tavern seemed almost foreign in concept to Nari. Her eyes shifted to the blonde at her side, the small weasel upon her shoulder chattering away in what was clearly meant to be a humorous sound, and she found herself blushing heavily. ’Well I mean, come on. I know this is a fantasy world, but a tavern?’ Nari shook her head, before stepping inside. The tavern itself was cleanly enough,
  8. From the corner of his eye Reytac could see another corvid shuffling forward, hopping towards where Cascade was, but his attention was on the raven that had approached him. Carefully, he pulled his hand to his inventory and pulled out the bowl of Familiar Food that the beast Tamer had given him. He spun the lid open and set it down on the ground between him and the large raven, which fluffed its feathers as it looked down at the offering, then back up to him. Caw. The sound was almost dismissive, but the bird didn't leave, yet. Instead it hopped around a little, stari
  9. When the makeshift cross had fallen apart, Astra had seemingly snapped out of his trance, and was brought back to reality. It was a simple mistake, but even he should've known better than to interact with the resting places of the dead - especially those that seem cursed. Astra looked towards the looming ghost that had appeared with a sheepish demeanor, his embarrassment for waking the ghost ever apparent on his face. What else has he fixed? He just got here! Before Astra could even offer to try and help with his mistake, his mentor was already on it - using his inclination for cra
  10. "Yeh...." Mari said quietly, allowing herself the rare chance to close her eyes. Feeling safe enough with the man to be able to do so. She'd let her head rest against the bark of the tree. "I loved it...it felt like one of the few things I could control... so when I got my first profession...it was only natural I picked performer. But...as you said...it began to feel more like a job." Mari lifted her head, opening her eyes to watch Jomei as he carefully turned her violin around in his hands. She felt a swell of pride when he lingered on the ornate L burned into the back of it. "I alread
  11. Earning a Living: Cook Nari’s shop had already taken a transition from its regular design, the inclusion of her smithy and storefront recreating the once musically focused work area into something else entirely. She’d begun her battle in creating weaponry, armour and tools once more – but she’d gained inspiration from the sudden ability to expand her skillsets. So much so, that she found herself considering it one morning, and wondering if there wasn’t more she could do. ’All I’m saying, is you don’t want to over work yourself.’ Onora sighed as she glanced again at the newly purchas
  12. Mari waved off Azhoda's thanks with a nonchalant hand. "Is fine." Mari slowly lead the woman out of Tartarus, she couldn't help but notice a few abnormalities, holes in walls where there shouldn't be - entire sections of the place seemingly missing, as though someone had blasted through it. If Mari didn't know any better, she'd say someone was renovating the area. If it were any particular group...Mari would have to guess it were the Laughing Coffin. This could also be some of the abnormalities Raidou was talking about. Mari cast a worried glance over her shoulder at the meek woman behind her.

  14. She felt her mouth go dry, her skin calmming as he began to brief the topic she wished he hadn't heard. Though what he said had left her puzzled and almost comforted. Something about the way he had chosen to address the topic had hinted at his own familiarity with such things. Were they alike? It was a strange feeling, the vulnerability with which they resided. She still hadn't brought herself to looknat him, but she didnt have to. As if to save her from the stress of conjuring up a reply a loud CAW rose in the air drawing the pairs attention. That was enough to distrac

  18. Nari rechecked the map, wondering where she’d taken a wrong turn. Her finger traced along the translucent material before her, following the gaiting line that designated the directions she’d been following. Her eyes shifted away for a single second as Mio seemed to twist at her side, the small kitsune spotting something in the distance. Nari found herself glancing up in the direction he was looking, her eyes squinting a bit against the light as she tried to find what had caught the kitsune’s attention. Seconds passed, before she spotted the player in the field, reading over what appeared to be

  21. Reytac spun his new hammer around and back up onto his shoulder, whistling under his breath. The new weapon, one of the amorphous blobs of potential that he's been given by Mari from the snowy wolves, had been appraised by one of his guild mates - he really did need to interact with him more, getting the other man's help had been the first time he'd actually talked with any of them. It had ended up being a solid hammer - a bit lacking in raw damage compared to his Initiate's, but it traded that for the first DOT equipment that he'd gotten his hands on, and while it was amusing to think of a ha
  22. ”No kidding.” Teion muttered dryly. It was unclear which piece she was agreeing with exactly, if not all of it. Still, the chipper attitude he followed up with had her exhale sharply through her nose alongside his chuckle. ”Hey, you know where you need to head next?” She picked her head up from where she’d been sinking into her shoulders with a sudden confidence. ”Floor 24. Not a forest in sight, as far as I know. It’s all islands, beaches… It’s even got a vaguely Greek thing going on, with a colosseum and all that.” She waved lazily at the last part, as it wasn’t her main draw. ”Unless the oc
  23. Saying things changed for people here was an understatement for sure. Reytac rocked back on his bar stool, staring up at the flickering bare light bulb hanging above them for a long moment. He wasn't so far gone yet that his balance was bad enough for him to worry about falling over - he just had wine, unlike the whiskey that Teion was knocking back. He rubbed the bridge of his nose and gave a shrug. "Yeah, that's no joke there. I mean, most people don't live with a day to day threat of death anymore - but all of a sudden, in here, we do. I know a lot of people just kind of.. Gave up? I did, t
  24. Teion mulled over his very normal answer. She gently turned the glass around in her hand, walking her fingers against its cool surface up until he took a stab at his own age. Then it was like she’d swallowed her own thoughts. He was so much older than her. Not that this place didn’t make her feel like she’d put on a few years, both in pure stress and in forcing her to grow up fast in some aspect or another. Thinking about it, he started to remind her of someone. A friend she hadn’t seen in some time. At first she thought Shield might be dragging her out by her collar if he were here, but
  25. "Huh? Oh, just upbringing, be polite ta people you meet. At least until they either indicate a desire for something else, or do something that earns a different kind of attitude. The golden rule and all that." 'Treat others as you want to be treated'. For Reytac, that meant he tried to treat others kindly, or politely, until they had told him they didn't care for it - some liked more casual interactions - or if they'd doe something that showed they didn't deserve that politeness. It didn't hurt him any to do that so far. As for his age.. Rey scratched his cheek as he looked up, thinking that o
  26. She did as he suggested, directing her sights to the upper corner of her vision, pushing past the actual environment to regard her HUD where the two of their names sat next to green health bars. Now she finally noticed there was something new next to either of them. She squinted a little and focused on the icon until it revealed its secrets to her and she read the effects of the «Lightweight» debuff. An expression washed over her like she’d found what she’d been looking for. ”You’re fucking kidding me.” She whispered out the words under her breath, disbelief mixed with pure amusement. Tei
