  1. Sometimes Jomei forgot that, technically, his music room was a performer's shop. It definitely wasn't set up like one, and he sure as hell didn't craft anything to sell. Music was his passion, he enjoyed it more as a hobby than a career. "No no its fine." he said with a breathy chuckle, "You just surprised me is all." Stepping from the open doorway, his arms crossed at his front, he would lean a shoulder on the wall beside him as he listened to Astreya's plight, also apologizing for 'ditching' him at Koga's party. Without words he shook his head, a palm facing outward as if to tell her 'd
  2. Jomei the emerald duelist Just before the turn of the new year, Jomei had lost his muse. The constant urge he had to perform and compose had wisped away once he was, once again, left alone to his devices. Hours upon hours were spent staring at blank sheets of paper, his pencil only able to create the swirling image of a treble clef at the start of the page. No notes or chords filled the empty score afterwards, and the book would close on another failure of a day. During the holidays, however, things had suddenly chanced for the Ir
  3. Jomei the emerald duelist Clap Clap Clap The sudden, sharp noise drew the attention of the players, their conversations easing to hushed whispers, if not coming to an abrupt end. Baldur began to address the players, expressing gratitude for their participation, and congratulating the winners of the tournament's first round. It was a pretty even spread of winners, veteran players and names he could only assume were late starters. He was actually pretty shocked to hear that Calrex had taken a loss, reminiscing on the two's previous d

  5. Jomei the emerald duelist A simple message sent to the players, a promise for adventure and mystery awaited them as they were to journey to Floor Twenty Six.. the city of Landonia.. to explore a tower --normally unfit for players to enter-- as riots and threats of full on revolution kept the militants of the city distracted. Who would have thought that a small handful of players diverting from the course could incite a full blown civil war. At least, that's how it seemed to him.. The constantly moving and chanting masse

  7. A geyser far off sent a stream of boiling steam into the air, distant, but the resounding hiss heard as though they were standing right over it. Swords clashed against a rock golem as players fought against a monster, Jomei could hear distinguish their voices as they called out battle strategies, yet their figures were nothing by small specks of color with how far away they battled from the two. All the sounds that this floor had to offer could be heard as a blanket of silence fell over Jomei and Lessa, his final words sticking to the humid air. The only sound that pierced the quiet was
  8. Nihilim's Wrath slowly slid back into the scabbard that hung off of Jomei's belt, his eyes watching the blackened steel until the guard tapped against the open mouth of the sheath. His body remained facing in the direction where the boss had fallen, his gaze rising to look outwards into the forest around the, now free of the sea of thick fog. The duelist felt a newfound confidence within him after taking down a dungeon's boss on his own. At one point, even taking on such an enemy with a second damage dealer proved to be troublesome. Though, without Hirru's help, Jomei probably would not have m
  9. "Very well said" Jomei echoed Morningstar's comment towards Freyd's poetic opinion on the tournament. "Having these events where everyone can get together is always great.. its just nice that its not tied to some boss we have to fight, or one whipped up by the game itself. It feels.. just more natural and enjoyable, being put together by a friend." "Perhaps sometime after the tournament." Jomei said with a nod, "I've been slowly working back up to getting out there and finishing up some quests on my list. Can't let myself fall too behind you guys." He added with a hooked smile.
  10. A last ditch effort to throw off the players looking to slay it, the Fog focused on its mind games once more. Various faces swapped out, frantically and quickly, but lingering just long enough so the strong emotions plastered on their faces were conveyed. Standing just within arms length of the fog, the features of the players of their past protruded enough to where Jomei was, quite literally, face to face with them. The visage of Lowenthal, pain and sadness behind a forced smile.. Telrenya, anger and sadness towards a loving relationship that crumpled rather quickly. As another face see
  11. A small hum of a laugh accompanied a hooked smirk. "Luck? Not sure if I would call winning a duel luck. Give yourself some more credit." A hand extended from underneath his cloak, patting Morningstar on outer bicep. "Hirru's been putting a lot of focus into healing skills lately, so he probably had the blow the dust off of his fighting capabilities." Without the use of sword arts and skills, the duelists needed to rely on any abilities they carried over from their real lives, or those they picked up within Aincrad. It truly showed who depended on Cardinal to carry them through the game, and wh
  12. Standing off a ways behind the crowds that gathered to watch the final fights of the first round come to a close, Jomei peered over their heads. A neutral expression on his face as he absently watched the clash of wooden weapons. Eyes did not follow when the opponents moved across the tatami mats, revealing his mind was somewhere else. His arms poked out from under the long, green fabric that was draped over his shoulders, tucking into each other as he stood with them crossed. This day wasn't really going the way he had hoped it would. An unfamiliar voice peaked up, pulling him bac
  13. -- After thread with Alkor-- "I should probably return this to Baldur.." Jomei said to himself as he eyed the finely crafted, wooden sword that he held across the palms of his hands. Rather than shoving the sword back into the cloth belt of his hakama for show, he allowed to bokken to retreat into his inventory, vanishing from his hands with a flash of white light. A slightly defeated sigh eased through his slightly parted lips, "Probably not going to need it anyway" his voice defeated, but not discouraged. Retrieving his green cloak from his inventory, he allowed the garment to fall over

  15. The smirking smile he wore pulled a bit tighter with Alkor's ending comment. Whether he truly meant it or not, Jomei would never know, but he would leave the serenity of this pondside garden believing that he did. "If you ever feel like stepping out of that world of yours, my door's always open." Offering a polite bow of his head, Jomei would finally turn from the guarded man, finally allowing them a bit of respite without Jomei's olive gaze fallen on them. A single hand rose over his shoulder with a single wave, turning his chin slightly to address him one last time, "Take care of yourself, a
  16. "Thanks!" Jomei shouted out to Hirru as his his vision became a bit more focused, meaning his strikes would more than likely ring true. The duelist would always pride himself in his higher accuracy stat, especially with the unique absolute accuracy enhancement on his side. It was not very often that he would miss his mark, but with enemies that were crafty and quick to evade, he sometimes ran into issues. These little bursts of buffs that Hirru dished out really made sure that Jomei would always find his mark. Taking note that his stunning sword art had come off of a cool down, the ginge
  17. Alkor was tough to read, as he had been for the entire conversation. Was he just humoring the ginger and allowing them to speak, or actually engaged in the conversation that he put forth. The advice was sound, at least, and Jomei would take it with him to ponder on later. How much, however, was spoken from the heart and how much read off of a script he had to repeat a thousand times when someone like Jomei would try to strike up conversation. Did he really act the same way around Lessa, or had something changed him since then? One could only assume being in the maw of a floor boss, to be saved
  18. At the absence of pockets in his hakama, Jomei hooked his thumbs into the cloth belt that held the wooden bokken to his waist. Whether he had assumed incorrectly or not was not touched upon by Alkor, but a point was still made in his response. Whether he felt he was deserving of something or not didn't matter.. what mattered was that they were just different people who saw the world in different ways. Once silence settled between the two of them once again, Jomei broke it with a heavy sigh. Lids slowly closed over his eyes once more before he spoke. "I appreciate the advice you've given m
  19. Eyes followed Alkor as he pushed himself up to a standing position, head remaining unmoving. His thoughts lingered for a moment on what Alkor had called grace and what that meant. More importantly, if it was relevant to his position. Jomei, sadly, was to type to always make amends, if he ever needed to. As far as he knew, however, he had never done anything that would truly require forgiveness. As his head finally turned to match his gaze, he wondered if Alkor's words were meant for Jomei.. or for himself. "Do you feel like you don't deserve forgiveness or something?" he finally said, pa
  20. As far as he could remember, Jomei's never shared two words with Bahr. Been in the same room with him, never did anything to cause him to bat an eye. Apparently did enough with their life to make a dear friend of his happy - at one point at least. These past two conversations where Bahr was a topic made his blood boil, if the scowl Jomei wore on his face didn't make the resentment he held towards the man apparent. From what Jomei made of it, Bahr went from some knight in shining armor, to an overprotective arse, to a withdrawn prick. "What the hell is this guys problem?" the question rhe
  21. A long, drawn out groan rumbled within his throat as he turned his head away from Alkor, as if his head were swiveling on a rusty hinge. "I'd.. rather not talk about it." his voice a little louder than a mutter; sheepish and dismissive, "I lost, pretty badly." Puffing out his cheeks, Jomei let the shame blow out of his body with an exhale before turning back again. "Okay, maybe one of the reasons I came out to talk to you was because we both have that friendship with her in common, now that I think about it. Wanting to know the story behind how you escaped death was just the driving point, I s
  22. Only half of Jomei's sentence hung in the air before Alkor broke into a coughing fit, triggered by the ginger's apparently bad idea to have Lessa explain what happened to Alkor from her point of view. "Yeah, suppose you're right about that. She had enough on her plate, still does probably.. We don't need her reliving that memory if it was that painful to her." Jomei shifted his position, letting one leg fall to the mat, sitting perpendicular to his other leg, with palms pressed into the mat at his sides to support his weight. "She does seem to stress a lot.. Though those that care about others
  23. The question came off as sincere, truly. Jomei cared about Lessa's happiness and truly hoped that-- outside of everything she had told him was eating at her on the inside-- she had something to ground her. In this case that something was a someone. Not someone to rely on for her only source of happiness, just someone to add to it. To amplify it even. Either Jomei was blind to any hints she had dropped in her heavy hearted confession within his townhouse earlier, or this was a whole 'nother level to the pit of Lessa's despair. The answer she had given him was rather long winded, and he fe
  24. It was rather rude to bring up something as such within their first conversation, wasn't it? A soft grunt managed to escape through his pursed lips, "Sorry I.. That probably wasn't right for me to ask about.." Alkor's escape from death seemed much more simple than he had thought, despite being rather tricky in terms of pulling it off. A well timed teleportation crystal at, what would be, the moment of demise saved him from becoming a shattered memory and another name crossed off of the Monument of Life. "I guess I wasn't really thinking straight. Then again, my mind has been a jumbled me
