  1. If Dustin was being honest with himself, the broker’s question hurt like a knife. There is a task at hand, so I should focus on that. The only other option being severe danger or even death. Though I’m sure Hestia can protect me, I still don’t want these two days of walking to be boring then on the two days back we just avoid talking about how I can barely do anything. Dustin had heard a few stories about players being attacked by info brokers while doing the quest and his hands clenched up out of habit, though his hands almost immediately slip into his pockets.

    Dustin’s steps come with thoughts. Every step an image of his fist slamming into the face of the man who murdered his brother. Every now and then he imagines Hestia’s hand stopping him from breaking, sometimes Jinx’s hand does. Once though, his biggest fear, his hand moves back and hits Hestia in her face before killing the monster. Upon seeing this he obviously looks scared, not fear of death, fear of his thoughts. His face turns blank as he walks staring straight at the ground and not saying a word.

    @Hestia

  2. Dustin and Hestia had made it up to the ninth floor in no time, the boy stepping off of the teleporter and turning towards the lady. “And that’s why I think Mario is a monster.” He turns towards back around and starts walking out towards the gate. “Maybe we should stop at a bar first, the food we had earlier didn’t really fill me up.” He walks right into an info broker that starts freaking out. He stands up and all excited like starts explaining the quest with the boss and starts explaining how the boss is incredibly far away. “It’s a two day walk, so you and your friend should stock up on food before you head out.” He says, pointing up to Hestia and then tilting his head. “YOU’RE HESTIA! THE TANK ON THE FRONTLINES! What are you doing with this kid?” He asks, beginning to wonder if the boss is even worth it to Hestia and Dustin.

    Dustin turns back to Hestia and smiles innocently. “Whadya say? I’m sure we could take it out rather quickly.” He turns back to the info broker and holds his hand out, shaking hands with him. “I think we should head out soon, I’ve got enough snacks to last for at least a month.” He says, starting to walk past the info broker and towards the edge of town. “Though I’d like to ration it as I’m getting low on col and Neo’s shop isn’t exactly cheap to buy things in bulk from.” He says, looking through his snack reserves.

    @Hestia

  3. Dustin smiles as Hestia lets him lead the way, his mind begins to think of the quests he had heard about bar hopping after his brother was murdered. “It’s the one with that huge knight about two days away from town on the 9th floor. I’ve forgotten what it’s called.” His hands move into his pockets as they get into the town and Dustin starts heading towards the teleporter. “I think we should get some food first, It’s been a while since I ate anything.” He smiles, looking around for a restaurant when he decides it’s probably better to eat something he had brought himself. “I got just the meal for celebrating killing a monkey.” He pulls out two banana splits and hands one to Hestia. So I should be investing in Battle Healing a little more, maybe even Light Armor. I need to get stronger so I can fight alongside those frontliners. He smiles taking a bite of his ice cream.

  4. Dustin’s crush had fallen back on the ground and put her hand on his shoulder talking about her brothers. Dustin begins to think about the real world and how his brother used to love playing kick the can with Dustin in the backyard. They used to run around and play games all day until Dustin had to go to school, or towards the end when Dustin had to go to work. A tear begins to run down his cheek as he thinks back to his brother and his mom. “Heh... you know, this was Kadin’s favorite spot because we used to come here and talk about the real world. Every single day, he’d bring you and up and ask me why I never asked you out.” He chuckles. “I always said my mom wouldn’t let me, and I didn’t have time. But to be honest, I was scared.” He falls back, laying next to the girl. “I’d have to say, you were worth the wait.” He pulls her really close, looking into her eyes, and kissing her.

    @Ryoko

  5. Claude had returned Dustin’s fist bump and Dustin smiled at him. “It’s been good man, and I think Belle should throw some more parties like this, you seem like a cool guy.” He responds.

    Dustin’s eyes followed the conversation as it happened, and was completely and utterly confused until the small purple haired girl said something about Dustin directly, and if he were in an anime a chibi version of himself would be hit by an arrow saying “forever alone.” He gets lost in the conversation yet again before she pulls out the axe that someone other than Arabelle picked up from the store, and Dustin’s mind began to wander. Wait, that wasn’t Belle that bought that. He shrugs it off as some people like to keep their purchases a secret, or maybe The lady owed her money, his guess was as good as anyone’s. Besides, not like he cared, he still made money off of the exchange.

    ”Five rounds? I didn’t think this thing was that strong. Or wait, you don’t know how much damage I do.” A severe lack of a sword should be throwing everyone but Jinx off, but no one even bats an eye. “Okay fine, I guess the only person who has been keeping tabs on me is the only one who gets a snack.” He pulls out a small piece of cake and hands it over to Jinx. Another piece comes out and Dustin starts breaking pieces off and eating them by himself. He looks over at the dark haired girl and hands her a cookie, offering one to Belle as well. “Nah, I bring snacks for everyone, especially my two favorite guild members.” He smiles politely, and finishing his cake.

  6. After Dustin’s strike, Hei seemed to finish it off. Dustin didn’t get to see the monster fade away and that made him sad, but he was more worried about how utterly exhausted he was. It was like he had a 100 pounds resting on his chest while he lay there, sprawled out on the ground and looking up at the sky. “I hope you see what you’ve done... rotting in the cold of Niflheim. Wandering aimlessly... reflecting on your idiotic decisions.” His eyes shut, his body remaining firmly placed on the ground, his arms and legs too heavy to lift, and his chest tight. Then Hei brought up his plan. Sure, I’m okay with leaving it to Stryder. Now that he was down, the pain finally hit him and he grabbed where the monster had struck him. “Yeah... As a matter of fact...” his breath not catching up any faster than it would in the real world. “As a matter of fact, why not throw my cut towards the guild hall. That way half goes towards the guild and the other half goes to you two.” He rolls over and struggles to push himself to his feet, his elbows shaking as he reaches his intended position.

  7. As Dustin turns around to respond to Jinx, he notices a bear running towards her and runs around her. “Jinx, get ready, we’ve got more things to kill.” He smiles, his fist glowing green and moving forward to where the bear would be. The bear had seen it coming and moved over just enough for the attack to fail, but Dustin’s plan was to get it away from Jinx. The attack was just a bonus if he succeeded. “Looks like I get to send another feast to the warriors in Valhalla.” He grins like a cocky kid on the playground. For some reason he was having fun taking risks with Jinx’s and his lives, and he was ready for the consequences of those actions, but he didn’t want them to come. I can’t let her take too much damage this time, this bear does look bigger and could possibly be stronger. The massive bear stands on its hind legs, reaching a height of at least 9 feet tall. “Holy [censored], this must be papa.” He turns to jinx with a smile on his face. “Isn’t this so much fun?” He asks, trying to keep her excited for this fight.

  8. Dustin received a message from the short purple haired girl, the fun member of his guild. She’s cool, but I can’t get a read on her. He decides to head towards her location, but on his way stops by his shop to see if he needs to grab anything. His checklist only reminds him that he needs to work here more often so he leaves, making sure everything is in place. Should I send her a message and tell her I’m on my way? Nah, I’m sure she knows. He cuts through the back alleys of the town of beginnings only to see the taller man who he recognized as a high leveled player instantly, having met him at the Christmas party. “Hey Arabelle, how long’s it been?” The part where she said she wouldn’t be accompanying them had slipped his mind for a moment, a frown taking it’s place on his lips as he remembers. “Oh yeah, you’re ditching us, that’s too bad... I was gonna show you what I’ve been up to since the dragon.” He turns towards the only other male there and smiles holding out his hand for a fist bump. “Name’s Dustin in case you don’t remember.” He says, acting like a classic teenage boy with this man he had only ever met once before, and when he did he made a comment on his rather dashing looks.

    He turns towards the player on the bench, bot recognizing her in the slightest. Don’t tell me she’s one of the shy types... they always ruin the fun. He holds his hand out for a handshake towards Mishiro, “As you probably just heard, my name’s Dustin.”

    His attention moves back towards Arabelle. “Oh crap, did I get here first? Wow, I really need stuff to do...” he looks around in hopes of seeing someone else.

  9. Dustin’s eyes lock on Ryoko’s as he pulls her close once again, closing his eyes and... booping her on the nose. His cheeks pull the corners of his mouth into a smile, as he chuckles and stands up. “If you wanna, we can fight a strong monster.” He holds his head up high. “Or, we can fight a bunch of weak monsters and race to see who can do the most damage.” He smiles at her, like a boy asking his friend for a game on the playground. His smile disappears as he walks towards Ryoko and the sunset. He leans down and kisses her once again, this time lasting a bit longer and more passionate. “I wanna go on a real adventure with you. One where we kill a bunch of monsters and watch the sun go down. One where we end up in a field and look up at the starry sky.” He points out towards the sunset. “I wanna see that entire land, and all the other 99 floors with someone.” He looks at her. “As of right now, I want that someone to be you.” He nods at her.

    @Ryoko

  10. Dustin’s legs carry him away from the scene even further as they travel towards town. “Great, I have an idea of what to do next.” He says with a childish grin and a thumbs up. Maybe he could be the one person here who tried to always see the good side of this game. Sure the consequence of losing is death, but the benefit of winning is an increase in strength. It would help if the stronger players protected the weaker players more often, but then they wouldn’t be progressing nearly as fast. It’s a fair trade, a few lives for the many. “One day I’m gonna help you guys clear a floor. Don’t know when, or if I’ll survive, but I promise I’ll fight on the front lines with you at least once.” His smile still contrasting the dark and empty jungle. Even the foliage had died out from the paths in the jungle being used so much, now the only bright colors were the outfit and of the players as they tread through the brown and dark green under brush.

    @Hestia

  11. Dustin’s focus shifts back towards the group helping him practice his way up to the next few levels. “Not much longer right? I’m getting tired.” His breath heavier and slower. He began to look incredibly winded. His face is red and his body is sluggish. “This... is getting drawn out... longer than it ever should’ve.” His hand begins to glow green as he launches in and slams his hand into the monster’s face, the monster’s recoil pushing it into the wall. Not much longer. He launches himself back and stumbles, completely and utterly exhausted. His leg gives out and his body falls towards the ground, him just barely able to catch himself in a defeated pose. “Looks like I might... see it in Valhalla... one day.” He smiles, still on his last legs. His eyes move back towards Jinx, empty as the heart of a sailor with no ocean nearby. His face making him look like he just ran a marathon. How could he help them farm for monsters if he couldn’t move.

  12. Pinball had disappeared, but all Dustin could focus on was how much trouble he is gonna be in when Stryder or Hestia find out. This isn’t gonna be good, I have to get Jinx out of here. Nothing good will come of this Dustin. Just grab her and run. His legs get ready to move when suddenly Jinx shouts his name. Uh-oh... His body begins to run on instinct, his hand beginning to glow a bright green as his back pulls him under the jabbing motion of Pin’s sword. This was his chance to try and at least make Pinball wonder if this was the right move. His legs push back under him and he throws his weight forward. A dead thud can be heard when Dustin’s hand collides with flesh and a massive release of energy follows. “Go Jinx... I can handle this rat [censored].” His eyes pan back towards Pinball. “Too scared to fight me like a man? I can still keep on my toes just enough to dodge you.” A cocky grin wants to place itself on his face, but all he feels is rage and fear. This man went and wronged so many people, attacked Kirbs, then chopped of Dustin’s hand, and Dustin sure as hell wanted revenge for all those things, but he doesn’t want Jinx to get hurt. Taking a deep breath, Dustin’s stance becomes more at the ready, his fists in the most common place, his legs spread with one forward, and his eyes narrowed on the target.

  13. Mace’s glare cut Dustin like a knife. Like a truck had hit him going 100 miles per hour. His heart had practically stopped as he looked at Jinx laying there. Arabelle’s words were there, but his body had decided nothing else was important. The girl’s eyes moved up and he couldn’t help but feel like it was his fault. I should just leave. It’s my fault she’s like this. Why am I still standing here? His legs spin him around and start carrying him away from the party, the girls and guy behind them still worried about Jinx. “I can’t believe she calls me her friend. I’m a monster.” He mumbles quietly to himself, pulling his hood up and hiding his hands in his pockets. I hurt her, I deserve the hatred they’re feeling towards me. He looks back for a moment, they weren’t that far away but he still felt wrong for just leaving them like this. “I shouldn’t be doing this, but it’s for the best.” His eyes filled with sorrow as he keeps walking out towards the town.

    (OOC: Up to you guys to stop Dustin or let him leave...)

    @Arabelle@Mace

  14. Dustin’s hand starts to glow green once again,  his legs pushing into the ground launching him forward and through the air as his hand gets pushed forward by Cardinal. His motion seems like natural motion. Like he had done this so many times before. The monkey moving slower than before due to its health being so low. His hand manages to slam into the face of the giant ape. “Heck yeah, did you see that Hestia?” A huge smile crosses his face as if he were a child who just scored his first point in a sport. He turns to the girl and hold out his fist for a fist bump.

    He pulls out a cookie and starts eating it, turning and walking towards the town once again. The woods seem so much quieter now that the monkey moving around and screaming, it seems so much more peaceful. He looks back at Hestia, a smile still connecting his ears to eachother, he speaks. “I’d like help gaining levels as well, but I can’t just ask you to help me with everything.” His eyes shift back forwards as he maintains his speed, looking down at the dirt and following the foliage on the ground with his eyes.

His hand begins to glow green once again as he runs in, swinging a hair too soon, missing by about an inch. Well that didn’t work, Guess I’ll Have to try again soon. He begins to feel like he should be tired, but he’s not. His whole body feels like it normally does, but a little less enegized. Like when you walk up stairs after a year of not doing it. You feel fine but deep down you know you’re a little tired. “Hey Hestia, can I ask you another question?” His breathing slightly heavier than before. The problem was mental, he wasn’t really tired but his brain figured he should be, so the system made his chest feel a bit heavy.

He was never having more fun than when something was making him struggle. Especially with someone as strong as Hestia at his side. His blue hoodie contrast against the dark brown and green ground as Dustin pushes himself off the ground. “Hestia, What I’m Saying is I’d like you to be there to keep me from killing him.” He explains again. “The man killed my brother and made me watch, and I want to kill him more than anything, but I have people I care about now.” He looks up at her and back towards the monkey. “It’s very important that you’re there.” He finishes, remaining in the range of their monkey. His hood had fallen down in the accident, his brown hair flowing a little in the wind.

  18. Hestia tells Dustin to beat the monster into next week as it rears back in pain. “Gladly.” His hand starts to glow green once again, His arm pulling back as he jumps upwards. The monster was ginormous. This thing must way 20 tons. Might as well knock it on its [censored]. His body twists, pushing his arm forward with a mighty punch right to the monster’s face. The power of the punch pushing Dustin back onto the ground next to Hestia. “Good, now one more attack and I should be able to kill him.” He smiles, looking over at Hestia and Kuro. “Don’t worry, not much longer and you’ll be back doing whatever it is frontliners do when they’re not fighting bosses.” Dustin’s eyes shift back over to the Monkey, who at the time was taken aback by the power behind such a small person. I have to get her to help me arrest him. If not I might lose control, she’s the only one I can trust to stop me. He turns to Hestia. “Back to what I was saying. I found the guy and I want to arrest him. Normally, that wouldn’t require much help. But I need you there, because once I see that man I might lose control and Mace won’t be able to stop me.” His face shifts to a more serious look. “Besides, I have no idea how strong he is, and I have no one else to ask, so it’s either you go or I kill him.” Dustin didn’t like the idea of letting the man live, but he liked the idea of losing everyone he cares about a little less.

  19. “Furmurfferen” Dustin laughs through the piece of pie shoved into his mouth and falls over. “Tho, you gonna waff the thun go dun wiff me?” He asks one more time. He swallows the pie and looks at her. “It’s super beautiful. Comparable only to you.” He smiles at her, showing her the screenshot. “That’s why I pulled you in a second time. Though it’s not the only reason. I’d like to hold you close more.” His smile brighter than before, and his eyes meet hers. “I did spring this on you rather quickly, so it won’t be so bad if you don’t like me back.” He stares out over the horizon and stops smiling. “I think we should go on more adventures though. Maybe one day you can catch up to me damage wise.” A laugh escapes his lips. No better way to bond with someone than fighting alongside them. That’s how I made all my friends in this game, so I have to get her on the field with me. It would be so fun. He stops laughing and looks at Ryoko. “Plus I need to get more col anyways.” He smiles like he’s hiding something.

    @Ryoko

  20. Dustin looks down at Ryo and smiles. He grabs her and pulls her in for a kiss. After a second or two he backs away and his face no longer red. “I’m just fine.” He smiles softly at her. He turns back towards the sea of green and sits down, pulling out a pie. “Would you like some?” He asks, hoping she would stay with him for a while. “Maybe we can watch the sun go down.” He cuts out a piece of pie and holds it up towards her. His legs dangle off the side of the drop off like so many times before. Kadin would’ve loved to be here, but I guess he has to be where he is. He opens his menu and pulls Ryoko in for a screenshot. “Gotta make sure I never forget.” He smiles, moving through the menu and saving the image. His hands move down for another piece of pie as he looks through his inventory, pulling out two cups of apple juice.

  21. Dustin waits for Ryoko to respond. It was just an ordinary Hill from here, but, there was more to it. “Let me show you something.” He begins to walk up and over the hill, the other side having a drop off. Standing over a sea of trees and lakes, you could see for a great distance. “This was Kadin’s favorite spot. We’d go here after every mission and watch the sun go down.” He looks out over the landscape. “It’s been one of my favorite spots as of late.” Sometimes a connection to a lost family member or friend will make you more courageous than you actually are. He looks over at Ryoko. “I wanted you the see this when I told you I like you, so that way, even if you don’t like me back you at least get a decent view.” His face turns back out towards the green. He could barely hide the red on his face and thus had to turn away, it was his best course of action at this point.

  22. Dustin’s voice gets way more serious. Like he was almost mad at Jinx. “Listen to me. This guy could probably beat Stryder on his own, get him here now.” He looks around for the boy he had once fought. “I don’t want to fight. Come on man, at least let the lady leave. It’s impolite to fight in front of a lady.” Not like you care. Most monsters don’t care about being gentlemen. His hand clenches up and he begins to get mad. The man had hurt the redcoat, killed a random person, and then took my arm. “Listen, if you don’t let us go, I’ll have to fight back.” He says, not trying to start the fight, but more along the lines of trying to show Pinball he isn’t scared. “You know what? I’m tired of just watching you as you destroy everything you touch. Come on then, fight me.” His nostrils flare as he continues to look for the guy. “Go Jinx, I can’t even hope to beat this guy, even with the help of my best friend.” Trying to convince her to go get their guild leader.

  23. Dustin’s gaze laid across the landscape like a blanket, a few tears still rolling down his face from before. “Look at this game. Look at the beautiful world we got caged in. This is bad, but it could definitely be worse.” He looks back at her. “But could it really? Think about it. Everyone here has gone through something hellish and they all know it. We all have had our traumas, I’m sure even you have had something bad happen to you. It’s not my business unless you want to tell me.” He pulls his hands down and turns around the rest of the way. His eyes meeting hers. “Listen, the reason I don’t go kill him is because I’ve seen what that does to people. I had a friend, well... I’m not sure she likes me that much tell me killing someone is a lot of pain to endure.” He smiles at the girl. “She took her own life. She’s the one who got me into the guild.” His hands land on her shoulder. “It’s not strength that keeps me from taking his life. I mean, I want to take his life more than almost anything else. It’s fear.” His smile grows softer, and his hand drops off her shoulder. Now that she knows that, will she still respect me? Or will she just up and ignore the fact that I’m not really that strong. It’s all just a front. He stands up again, trudging through the snow a few feet away. “We should start heading back, it’s getting late.” He tries to go on without letting her question him any further.

    @Jinx

  24. Dustin had agreed to walk Jinx back home, against his better judgement. It was my fault. I need to stop. I can’t go around hurting her all the time. He looks over at her, “Of course, why wouldn’t I help out a friend?” His words almost separated from the real world, like he wasn’t entirely enjoying this situation. His vision shrouded by the mist, that and it being the night, but he noticed a silhouette out in the distance. “Hey!” He shouts, wondering what they’re doing out this far. From the way he was standing he was reaching for a weapon, and Dustin’s arm naturally shot out in front of Jinx. “Something’s off, run back to Stryder’s house.” He looks genuinely offset by the whole situation.

    This person could be strong, being up here by themselves. But they’re obviously ready to do this, and I can’t have Jinx here getting hurt. He looks down at the girl next to him, dropping the arm he had sticking out. He pulls his hood up and looks all serious. “Sorry, I’m serious though, go to Stryder.” He equips his gloves, ready for battle with this random player. Hopefully Jinx gets Stryder in time and we don’t have to fight for very long. He pulls his fists up and spreads his legs. Not knowing how strong he is puts him at the advantage. But then again, he has no idea how strong I am. His eyes stay locked on the shadow in front of him.

  25. Dustin’s hands begin to glow again as he runs towards the monster that had hit him again. Hei’s attack having disarmed the monster, Dustin saw an opportunity and tried to take it. The monster managed to side step the attack though, making Dustin’s fist slam into the wall of the ruins behind it. He turns to the monster, lifting his feet off of the ground and pushing himself off of the monster in front of him, turning in the air and rolling up to his feet by Jinx. “Well that was unfortunate. I’m sorry about that Hei.” He pulls his hood up as it had fallen in the attack and disengage he pulled. I have to get stronger. I have to be strong enough to arrest the man. His attention shifts to the girl next to him. If what happened during the dragon happens here we’re in deep [censored]. “You will rot in Niflheim you withering scumbag.” He says quietly about the living armor.
