  1. Shiro smiles, he had made his first ever friend. Of course, he wasn’t too excited, he had heard that can make him lose his friend. Gotta be cool, Misako always said that to me. Her question catches him off guard, can we be friends? I’m not the best person, but apparently that’s okay to her. He smiles, opening his inventory and sending her a friend request. He stands up and lays down a sum of col as well, also leaving a tip for the waiter and finishing the cup of black coffee. He then turns and walks up to the counter, “Do you guys sell Oreos here?” He asks, implying that he wants a bag. The NPC at the counter grabs a small pouch of cookies and hands them to the boy, as he smiles and hands her some col. “Thanks.” He walks out of the cafe, leaving that day behind him in satisfaction, after all, he couldn’t have asked for a better start for what becomes a less than beautiful day. He continues his search for his sister in the town, but as usual, the faceless see of players and NPCs swallows him whole, as he disappears from sight and continues towards a spot to eat his favorite snack.

  2. Shiro smiles. So, that’s her go to question? I guess she’s just as bad at this as I am. “Back to your question before, about my hobbies, I didn’t answer because I thought I’d be interrupting you. But I mostly play violin anymore.” He says, then he thinks about her other question and begins to speak, but cuts himself off thinking on the question a little bit more. “I guess I’d have to say neither. The fear of constantly worrying about either of those would be enough to get myself killed.” He answers as truly as he can. But then he thinks on it a little more. “But, in this scenario, I have to give an answer, so I’d say how I die. It would take some of the fear out of my final moments.” He says, looking down at the necklace around him. I hope I die doing something I love. Or at least making a difference. I don’t want to fade into nothing and be forgotten, but sometimes that seems like the best course of action. If I make a mistake then the person forgets about me, it’s like I never messed up in the first place and their life is better without me. He frowns, pulling his gaze back up towards her and taking a drink. “What would your answer be? Also, about the park thing, it sounds nice.”

    @Ghost

  3. Shiro didn’t know what to say, she just cut herself off and this took him by surprise. Do I answer? Or do I wait for her to finish? I feel like if I just answer right now, I’ll be interrupting her, but if I say go on I’ll be being rude. He makes a face, a face that shows how hard he is thinking, when he finally says, “Let’s hear it.” He smiled. He was truly curious about what she was going to say she liked to do, and was wondering if it was anything like what he did for relaxation. Also, would she find out what he wants to do? Or would he just avoid the question he wasn’t super fond of. It made him uncomfortable because when people found out what he did, he was always asked to use his pass time for other people, which made him feel like he needed to do it perfectly. But that’s the thing, perfection is a figment of the human imagination, and Shiro knows this. But that never stopped him from avoiding people finding out, because the stress of doing what he did, and not doing it perfect was always a fear of his.

  4. Now that it was just the two of them, Shiro couldn’t be more nervous. Everything he said, and everything he did, would have the attention of the whole café. Now was more important than it was 20 minutes ago. I can’t just say whatever is on my mind, she might not understand and call me a weirdo, I can’t just up and leave. What do I do? I’ve got it. He opens his mind just a little, letting a sentence float out in the air between them. “So, what do you do for fun?” He asks, pulling his attention from the table to her. This worked on me, helped keep me at ease, now I hope it has the same effect on her. He pulls his hood down and smiles, a friendly look on him now, as he reaches down and grabs his drink. His eyes examine her, not in a checking her out way, but more as a memorizing the face of a friend. Having asked his question, he waits for the response.

    @Ghost

  5. Sh*t, did I say something? Oh crap. Uh... what do I do now? Do I apologize? Do I just walk away? Misako would know what to do. He frowns. “I’m sorry if that was weird.” He frowns, his face turning back to normal as he calmed down. Still not knowing where to go with it, he sort of takes a leap. “If you want I can leave, and go sit at another table.” He says, not knowing which answer he wanted more. Of course he wanted to get away from the awkward situation, but he also wanted to make a new friend, and she seemed like a proper candidate. How do I continue? No coming back from that. Uh. Let’s see. He begins to look like he’s thinking about something, but getting angrier as he finds nothing, then he realizes. He doesn’t have to say anything, that way it’s entirely her decision whether or not he stays. At which point he’ll know exactly how to keep it going. The question was, is he confident enough to keep going? Or is he gonna try and fail, losing a friend in the process. How can I know if I don’t try it? The famous last words of many people race through his mind as he takes a calming breath, sits back in his chair and begins to act natural. Of course, he still looked nervous enough to not be a completely new person, but he looked a little more at ease than before.

    @Ghost

  6. The words begin to come back to him, he knew what he could say, but everything he had lined up was either a compliment or blatant change of subject. Not knowing which to select he plays eenie-meenie-miney-mo. So that’s what I’m going with? Then she says she was wasting his time and his resolve stood stronger. Yup, that’s what I’m going with. His face turns really red, obvious he was about to say something, opened his mouth and committed to the statement. “It’s not a waste of my time, it’s actually a fun encounter, and I’m kind of glad the cafe was full when I got here.” He says as fast as he can, but slow enough so she can understand it. His bright red face shows it all, as he avoids eye contact with her and leans in, taking a drink of his black coffee. This is why I hate talking to girls, I always get so damn nervous. His red face gets hidden under his black hood. Oh god, why did I say that? Now she’s gonna think I’m weird. He frowns, hiding it from her as he takes another sip.

    The drink is set down promptly, as he takes a breath and the redness in his face surges again. “And you’re not weird, you’re cool. There. I said it.” He holds his head up high, looking confident in what he said until you see his face. His eyes are shut, ready for an insult, and his face is red, never had he complimented any girl, other than family, before in his life. Now he truly had no idea what to do, and all he wants to do is disappear into nothingness.

    @Ghost

  7. Shiro began to notice people leaving a few minutes before their interaction. Now if I leave I’ll seem like a prick. His hands slide down in his pockets, he was out of conversation material, and embarrassed at that. He had never spoken to someone this long, especially not a girl. He had slowly begun to regress back to his shy state as the more people left, making him much more noticeable and much more nervous. There was no one there to help him break from a conversation so he obviously lost his elegance he had before. Now he was a little kid meeting a new person. “I... uh...” He gets lost in a sea of possible replies, most of which an out he can take. He swims through, dodging the words he can’t say to her, in the thousands of words he knows, Shiro fumbles for a response. Wait too long and I’ll be weird, reply to quick and it’ll be weird. His mind lands on an explanation, whether she lets it slide or not is up to her. “That was weird wasn’t it? Like I told you, I’m not good with talking to people.” He says, the emotions he had before draining from his face. “About my sister, she’s much more outgoin than you and I combined. I was thinking about how funny it would be for her to meet you. That’s why I was smiling.” Those last few words the end of what he knew to say to this girl.

    @Ghost

  8. Shiro smiles as Felicity danced around him, the warmth emitting from her making him more comfortable. As she danced around him, he listened to the girl talk. She likes Felli? Good, everyone that talks to me from now on has to like Felli. Then she steps closer and Shiro gets nervous, as she reaches out for his best friend he tenses up. Not knowing what to do, he just watches and tries to act like the world around him isn’t collapsing, but then Felicity steps in and begins to play around Mishiro’s arm. “Okay Felli, should I be getting Jealous?” His joke placed perfectly to help try and break the nervousness he was experiencing. Her reply comes back and he thinks on the last question a little. Other parts of the fair? That sounds bothersome. People are always bothersome.

    ”Nope, I’ve just spoken to someone else, and sat over here.” He replies, trying to keep her from pulling that move she pulled back when they went to that restaurant. Please, just let me stay right here. His familiar, as if hearing his thoughts, floats over and burns his arm. “Ow, fine, I guess I’ll go check them out.” He looks at Felli and makes an angry face jokingly, standing up and spinning on his heel. “So... I don’t know where the other parts are, I’ve never been to a festival before.” He says to the girl who said she liked his familiar. The familiar which was spending way too much time with the girl.

    @Mishiro

  9. As Shiro became better acquainted with the little familiar that was the sole focus of the boy, a familiar voice comes from behind him. He jolts, caught off guard by the girl who had drawn him the picture all those years ago. The jolt wasn’t too obvious, but it was visible enough to make his familiar worry. “Her name is Felicity.” He says, a slight smile on his face. He had no idea what to say to this girl, words were his weakness. Misako was always better at this stuff. How can I get out of this politely? Oh crap. His eyes dart around, as Felicity floats above his shoulder, then slowly and almost cautiously moves towards @Mishiro. Huginn has no idea what it was doing and began to get worried, when it started to dance around the girl playfully then darting back to Shiro. “I think she likes you.” He says with a smile on his face, and a tilt of the head. Felicity begins to orbit Shiro’s head, distracting him from the crowd around him and making the boy feel more at peace than before. So Felicity, you know when I’m nervous, don’t you. He spins around and grabs a glass of hot coco and takes a quick sip, as the scalding beverage sends a warm sensation through his body. “I heard you won as well? What did you win?” He asks, hoping to sound friendlier than he usually does.

  10. Shiro thinks for a moment. What do I do for fun? I mean, I like to read, but she might think I’m a nerd for thinking that. His mind settles on a decision. “I play violin. Sometimes I read.” He says, not emotion in his voice. Why the hell am I being so cold? It’s not like I have anything against her. “I sing, write my music and read, but other than that, talking to you and hunting are the only things I’ve done.” He thinks for a second. Misako would be friends with this girl already, you’re too scared to tell her that you want to be friends. Then he gets and idea. The shift of character would have to be swift but subtle. So he decides to say something, either stupid, or smart, what made the difference was her reaction. “The last two are my favorites...” He says, avoiding eye contact and blushing super hard. It’s the only compliment he had ever given any girl he wasn’t related to. Sh*t. Why would I say that? That sounds like a flirt. I don’t like her like that... at least I don’t think I do. He looks at her for a moment and then blushes really hard once again. Nope I don’t, not at all. Never. Girls are gross. It was unusual to see the boy blush. Emotions were never his strong suit, so he ignored them and moved on. This game changed that, emotions could be useful in a world of swords and monsters. But until now, he had never wanted to be friends with anyone.

    @Mishiro

  12. Shiro heats his name and his ears perk up. No way I actually one. This is weird, but now I gotta talk to someone and accept... Then he sees it, the bright blue flame in a cage and he smiles. Like something grabbed the corners of his mouth and just pulled up as hard as the could. He didn’t even realize he was smiling until he started to talk. “Does it have a name? Or can I name it?” He asks with a tilt of the head and a smile on his face towards @Benny. He reaches out towards the small creature and it dances up his arm. What would I name it? Flicker? Scorch? Or would I go for Irony? Umbra would be nice. Blue? He can’t pick a name for his new best friend. Felli... short for Felicity. He finally decides. He knew giving it a name would make it far worse when they finally escaped the prison, but having Felli by his side would make the time that much better while he’s in this world. “Felli... her name is Felli.” The beautiful light dances around his arm and up the length, spinning around his torso and orbiting his chest up to floating above his shoulder. He can’t help but smile at the creature, as it was already something he cared for deeply. Like the baby raven he had saved one day, and raised from there on out. He had released it, and that day is his least favorite memory he has. But his new friend would never disappear, not until Huginn was killed.

    -Huginn accepts the Will-O-Wisp-

  13. Shiro chuckles as she asks about his sister. “She’s the troublemaker of the Kamanachi family. I was always a smart quiet type, staying away from the spotlight. I barely knew anything beyond what I could see though. Misako always had a keen sense of what’s going on in someone’s heart.”  He begins to think harder, he had never understood what she could see behind their eyes, but always knew he could trust what she was saying about their feelings. “In the 14 years we could talk, nothing she said about what someone was wrong. And the best part, she always helped. She cares about people.” He frowns and looks down at the table they’re sitting at. “She wasn’t as smart as me. But she’s just as stubborn. And I’ll always back her up.” He looks as Mishiro. “She was one of the only people I ever cared about, now I can’t find her.” He slips his hands beneath the plateau of wood and iron, as he hides in his hood from the world around him. She can’t possibly be dead. I always told her I’d die before her. He looks back to the girl and tilts his head. “Anything else you want to know?” He asks, making sure to not be rude about it.

    @Mishiro

  14. Shiro couldn’t help but smile and accept the request from the player he had spoken to. It was unusual for him to remain in such a place, but he had heard there was a raffle and wanted to at least enter to see if he could win. Nothing caught his eye though, but then he noticed the cloak. No way in hell am I passing up that. He walks over to @Benny and tips his head forward as a greeting. “Put me down for the raffle as well.” He says, spinning and looking around for a few minutes. No one here I want to talk to. Mishiro, Ice cream lady, and gray are here, but no one else. He begins to wonder how he can get away from everyone and still be close enough to hear if he wins an item. I really want that cloak, it’ll help in my endeavors when searching for Misako. So I hope I get it. He walks away, trying to make his way to the refreshments table, passing a penguin, a child with pink hair, a man who towers over the others and a famous player. He reaches the table and looks around to see if anyone wants to talk to him. I need to know if I win, and then to get out of here. The problem is, I don’t know if I can win if I just up and leave. He saw people spending time with their friends, talking to eachother and he was sad. He had no one to share it with, but he didn’t know he wanted that until just then. He wants friends, he wants someone to care about him like he cares for them. Will I ever have that? Or will I just be the kid in the corner who can’t talk to people?

    -Huginn enters the raffle-

  15. Shiro was confused. Is she worried about me? I’m not exactly someone worth worrying about. He spins around. “Worried? I’m not in any danger, besides, if I disappear it’s probably for the best.” He walks into the café and smiles at the waiter. “What was I doing before this? Hunting all night. I have to get stronger.” He says, looking down at his chest where his necklace used to dangle. I have to get it back. And if I die, it won’t be my problem anymore. This world is cruel, but only in this world. It has no power in the real world. Neither will I without my brain. He focuses on the world around him and then on the girl he was talking to. “So, what do you want to know about Misako?” He asks, ready to tell old stories about the hell they used to raise when they were like 7 or 8. His mind raced as he thought about all of the pranks his sister had pulled and fights he had been in to protect her.

    @Mishiro

  16. Shiro gets caught off guard by the man's sudden knowledge of who he was talking to. How the hell does he know who I am? I only know who he is there hearsay and a few questions for some higher ups. Though it does make this easier. "Call me Shiro. Okay, here's the thing, you've heard of symbiosis, I'll scratch your back you scratch mine?" He leans in a bit closer. "I propose this, I'll help gather information, and give it to you on anything you want. Think of me as the spy who can find anything, but I will need help mastering the art of sneaking. Can you help me with that?" He asks. This proposal was obviously not an even trade, nor would it really benefit the player who's level was likely more than 20 times higher than his own. If I can get his help, finding Misako will be easier, and I'll have someone to come to if I need help. If not, I'll have to find someone else to learn the art of stealth from. And that won't be easy. He steps back so as to not pressure the man. "I promise this'll be all I ask for. And I'll do anything you want." He says, trying to see if he can at least balance the trade a little. I'm not exactly strong, but I can get there someday. I'll make it to the frontlines and see Misako again.

    @Hikoru

  17. "Oh sh*t. A party... And no Misako... Guess I'm not going there." He turns, noticing a face he recognized in as a frontliner. It was someone he had only heard of. Is that him? I'm guessing that's him. Let's find out. He pulls himself together and slides off of the roof he was on gracefully, dropping into the middle of the crowd, but then remembering that he was in a crowd and getting flustered. Why would you do that? Are you some kind of idiot? Well, now you're never gonna make it to the player you've spent weeks tracking down to no avail. His eyes race, looking for a way out. All the ways out seem to have crowds right next to them, getting out is gonna be hell. Might as well get to the player before disappearing into the night like a moody teenager again. He forces a smile and pushes through most of the faceless players as his eyes land on a man being swarmed almost. A girl, a fanboy, and a few friends. Wow, approaching a target has never been easier. Though he appears to be enjoying himself. Wonder what that's like. He cuts through and Reaches the man. "I need to talk to him for a second ma'am, I'll have him back by midnight." He gives @Minako a fake smile and turns to @Hikoru. "I need your help with something." He says, a serious and emotionless face.

  18. Shiro tilted his head. Why does she want to come along? What reason does she have to stick by? Is she worried about me? If so, why? I’m not a good person, I’m not deserving of care. He gives a fake smile and turns, walking towards the shop. The cold air made the boy’s cheeks red, and his nose red as well, which was the most colorful his face had been since joining the game. He didn’t like the feeling of someone following him, but at this point, was too tired to make her go away. Besides, it’s not like he hates this girl, he just wasn’t fond of the idea of sitting alone with any girls. He always got weird when that happened, but he managed to control it last time. Only because he was only thinking of finding his sister, but now he had so much more to rethink. “Why’d you decide to come along? It’s not like I’m a fun person to be around.” He asks, still unable to figure it out. She has no reason to accompany me, I’m just a boy trying to find his sister, and I’m not exactly looking for a good friend along the way. They’re all just people to me. My sister is the only person I’ll ever see as family in this world. He slides his fists into his pockets. Besides, everyone screws you over eventually. They reach the panda shop and Shiro walks up, holding the door for Mishiro. “Ladies first.” He motions for her to go in as he holds the door.

    @Mishiro

  19. Shiro began to panic. Never had so many people been around him at once. His eyes shoot around like rockets around as he focuses on searching for an escape. Then he hears the question. “Shiro.” He sits in an almost feral position, like he was about to run. He felt safe around Kataware, but when Kirbs appeared he had regressed, but now there was a new player. It was a man. Huginn wasn’t very fond of men, but he never outright hated someone for no reason. The reassuring smile he had received from the girl did make him feel okay, like he could talk to her, but that british girl had a way of undoing that so quickly It practically gave him whiplash. His eyes race to the nearest trees. I’m fast enough I can probably make that, but then I can’t meet this new lady. Damn, what do I do? He sort of starts off and runs, stopping after a few steps and looking back at the players. I have to make friends some time. But I don’t like that girl. The British one is way too loud. “I’m sorry about that, old habit.” He fakes an innocent smile and begins to walk back to the crowd of people.

    @Kataware @Kirbs @Spencer

  20. “It’s almost perfect, especially for a rough sketch.” He looks at the drawing with intense intrigue. “Especially considering the very vague description. I owe you one. You ever need a song played on violin, guitar or piano I’ll play one for you.” He stands up, turns to her and bows. “Was that all you wanted to see me for? Cause if so, I should get back to hunting.” This came from the incredibly tired boy, who was obviously sleep deprived at this point. The bow made it worse, but it also revealed that he no longer had his favorite necklace. Sh*t, she didn’t notice did she? I hate when people ask me about what’s bothering me. He stands back up straight. “Thank you for your help ma’am, I am in your debt.” He smiles at her sincerely and turns, hiding a yawn as he does this. “I’m going to that panda shop again, they had great coffee. Also, they have Oreos.” The genius mentions his favorite snack once more.

    @Mishiro

  21. Shiro pulls up his spear, his face as emtionless as the girl’s. His empty eyes lock on the wolf he had worn down to 66% of it’s health, nodding as he moves forward. His careful steps taken to make sure he didn’t get the attention of the wolf, but it was too late. The wolf charges at him as jumps up, so Shiro flips his spear around, letting the creature fall on it. It falls all the way to the ground, a spear through its body, and its mighty jaws clamp down on the boy’s shoulder. “Damn it.” He says, trying not to move too much. His health drops another segment just short of 25%. I’m halfway down and doing barely any damage at all. If this is how I die then it’s pathetic. With a random girl in an empty field as we both refuse to talk to eachother. Misako would be trying to get us to open up. He frowns, not even trying to hide it from the girl. He didn’t care if she saw him frown, he didn’t care if she died. He wasn’t gonna be happy, but he’d learn to live with it. Emotions aren’t his strong suit. “Do you have an AoE attack?” He asks, wanting to see if she’ll use it. He needed help and was finally ready to ask for it. “We need an AoE or I’m gonna die. Though I’m not entirely sure you care.” He flips back, grabbing his spear and pushing the wolf away.

  22. The boy’s mind began to wander. Exploring yet you live on a much higher floor? Sounds like a lie to me, but why should I care? Lying is how most people survive in this world. Plus there’s the possibility she isn’t lying. Either she’s telling the truth, or she’s lying, either way, nothing I can do about it. He walks noticing a maze up ahead. “I’m assuming that’s the spot.” He points, also noting the Minotaur in front of the door way to enter. I shouldn’t rush in, especially not after what happened earlier today. His hands move into his pockets, as he looks at the girl. “We should try to sneak past it.” He ducks down, hiding behind some shrubs and bushes, watching the Minotaur from a distance. Well I should be far enough that he can’t see me, so now would be a great choice to make a plan. “We need a plan. As of right now, the best I have is we try to sneak past him. But if we get caught, I’ll attack first. But if I get hit, I’m as good as dead.” He nods. Waiting to see if she has a response to his plan or even if she’s has a better one. I hope she has a better plan, mine isn’t very good. Chances are, If I get hit even once I’m dead. If not, I’ll have to hope she can dispose of him quickly.

  23. Shiro shifts his grip once more, spinning and pushing his spear backwards with an unorthodox thrust. The spear plunged into the wolf’s side once again, leaving it with a present for after the strike. Okay, so now that it’s paralyzed, Ishould be okay to do this. “Mace, wanna switch? If we do, I can keep attacking while neither of us truly get hurt.” He pulls his spear out and flips it around, pointing his spear at the gray wolf, grinning. Please say yes, I need to protect Misako. Damn it Shiro, Misako is stronger than that. He looks at the girl and tilts his head. “You carry that shield, even though it’s a disadvantage. I use this spear to reach my enemy from a distance and to do as much damage as I can. There has to be a reason you lug that fricking wall around.” He says, spinning and pushing the paralyzed wolf to see if the game just froze the model or if Kayaba actually made an animation for this. Turns out it was the latter. Huh, Kayaba really wanted to make sure this game was thorough.

  24. Shiro walks through the field on the first floor, trying to find a good place to practice violin. He reaches a small clearing in the woods, and looks around. No one here, what’s gonna stop me now? He breathes in, pulling his violin up to his chin, and setting the bow on the strings. What if someone interrupts me? I mean, I know I’ll run, but they’ve seen my face and my violin. What if a monster attacks me? I won’t have time to switch out for my weapon. He takes another breath, calming himself down. It’s okay Shiro. You can do this. He closes his eyes, the arm holding the bow, starts to shift like he’s about to pull it across the strings when a ding sounds out. Sh*t. He quickly unequips the violin and equips his spear. “Did you get a message?” A stranger’s voice cuts through the air as the random player searches through the thick grass and shrubbery of the woods. Only to find an empty clearing where he thought the noise came from.

    Shiro quickly read the first sentence of the message and took off like a rocket. His speed was incredible. His legs moved so fast he had no idea where they were at any given moment. She finished the drawing? How? I though the drawing would’ve taken longer. As he runs, he quickly scans through the message, coming to a stop on the last word and inches from the teleport pad. As he climbs up, he shouts the command and his vision turns white. Seeing the town’s sillouhette cut through the white, he turns and follows the path he had followed before. “I don’t live on this floor, the teleport pad is like right over there.” He says, pointing in the general direction of the teleport pad. His face showed he too was sleep deprived at this point. This is gonna be a drag isn’t it. I need my sleep. It looks like she does too. “If you want we can do this later.” He says, a worried look in his eyes. Not in the way like he’s scared, more like “you alright?” Kind of looks like he should be looking at someone who fell out of a chair and hit their head. He had never given this look to anyone and didn’t even know he was giving that look to Mishiro.

    @Mishiro

  25. Huginn watched as the lady began to walk away, so the boy followed. He snuck out of the camp and through the field just as she did, following her path as closely as he could. He got a sudden chill, but didn’t care enough to look around. Wonder what it was. Actually, I’m not dead yet, so I’m sure it was nothing. He speeds up and taps on the woman’s shoulder. “Thank you ma’am.” He says with a fake smile on his face as he turns to walk away. He enters a crowd and disappears into the sea of nameless and faceless players. Though he didn’t entirely mean to do so, he did anyways. It was a skill he had learned in the real world. No one can follow you if they don’t know who you are, and no one can treat you like crap if they can’t follow you. He walks through the crowd of players far stronger than himself. His black attire didn’t help this though, as most people wore shiny armor and carried there weapons in the open.
