Damage is good, but we won’t kill him before his next attack… Beat moved as quickly as he could, using the others for cover to hopefully escape Baran’s sight long enough to get behind him. With his teammates laying into the minotaur, Beat was sure he would find a moment where the creature would drop his guard. Now! Believing he saw his opening, Beat took his shot, dashing to Baran’s left and getting behind him as he sent his glowing leg directly into the small of the minotaur’s kneecaps, hoping to send him to the ground to buy his group a reprieve from his assault. All-out attack was fine, but saving lives was important too. No one else has to die here today. Not if I having anything to say about it. The commanding general of the entire Minotaur army felt absolutely no fear from the insignificant insects that were attacking him. Clearly, their strategy was to attempt the death by a thousand cuts routine, and that would take far too long to bring down so majestic a leader as the General. Far too long indeed. The dark furred mass of muscle shook off the stunning effect of the attack from Beat and snorted through his nostrils, his dark eyes narrowing to slits as he regarded the players. So, they wanted to play with stunning attacks, did they? Two could play that game. In a few lunging steps, Baran crossed to stand in front of Shield, towering over the tank. Holding his weapon in his left hand, the minotaur grabbed Shield by the front of his armor and effortlessly lifted the player off the ground with one arm. With a half spin, General Baran turned and released Shield, flinging the tank back into this friends with enough force to stun Shield and knock the other five members of their party clean off of their feet. The monk was somewhat surprised when a player that was, clearly, head and shoulders above the rest opted to engage Colonel Nato and easily dispatched the Minotaur. That was a shame, really. One more solid attack from Nato would, likely, have been enough to kill at least one other player in the first party. Enough to free the trapped soul of another player, another step however unintentional towards the ultimate goal of freeing all of the prisoners of this digital prison. Still, in order to achieve that goal it would be necessary to gain strength and skills. Before this path had been illuminated for Tomas he had spent his days following the contemplative path of his order and, as a result, the leaders among the players were significantly out in front of him in terms of their raw statistical numbers. Attacking someone like Heathcliff, at this point, would be suicidal and it would dramatically end his divinely appointed mission. Based on that information, and the simple fact that it seemed clear from the trouble that the higher level players were having with their bosses, that the wisest course of action for farming experience would be to focus on the remaining minion that had been spawned by Colonel Nato. As Morgenstern and the players in his party all fell under the paralytic effects of the Boss, but succeeded in paralyzing both of the minions that had been summoned, Tomas wrapped his fingers around the simple crucifix at his neck for the briefest of moments and murmured softly in Latin, readying himself before dashing forward towards the Trainee Soldier. "Exaltabo te, Deus meus rex; et benedicam nomini tuo in saeculum, et in saeculum saeculi," Tomas said, reciting the first verse of the one hundred and forty-fourth Psalm and speaking in a low tone that would be unlikely to carry to anyone else as his thrust with the silver rapier in his hand. The blade unerringly found its mark in the body of the paralyzed trainee as the slender blade plunged into the creature's chest. "Per singulos dies benedicam tibi, et laudabo nomen tuum in saeculum, et in saeculum saeculi." The Holy Man punctuated the second verse of the same Psalm with two more lighting quick strikes before darting back to the relative safety afforded by standing behind the player that was, obviously, the strongest person on the field, Heathcliff. *The Latin, in English for those that care, from the New King James Translation of Psalm 144:1-2. For those familiar with the movie Saving Private Ryan the Sniper quotes this passage during the film. But out of the corner of her eye, she saw a man go and attack one of the paralyzed Trainees. She wondered if it would be safe and do something like that as well. She didn't have any mitigation, couldn't get it in time for the event. And she didn't exactly want to poof into pixels right now. So she twirled her spear and sat down with it in her lap looking at the others, "Our boss is kinda dead because of the guy in that gauche armor. Why don't we all chill out and play Duck, Duck, Cat?" She grinned at the other party members but they were probably more inclined to battle the beasts and things. Her cat eyes grew wide and she rolled forward going into a handstand, "Hey, guys? How many of you think I can catch my spear with just my toes while I am like this? Anyone wanna bet some col on it? Just to warn ya, I am fairly good at doing this. He also saw the man who cut him down. A crimson paladin. He knew those colours, identical to other players participating. He'd also heard rumors of a powerful floor clearing guild known as the Knights of the Blood Oath. This man had to be one of them, but the way he carried himself and his immense strength indicated that he was a high ranking member, perhaps someone like their leader? No time to think on that. On one hand, Soredell was grateful, as it meant one less mob to deal with, and less chance of another player dying. But on the other hand, Soredell was envious, the last hit bonus could have gone to a lower leveled player who could have used it to help them, or even to him to help himself, instead, a player who clearly outranks the lower level players on several layers would get the bonus instead. Soredell channels his anger into his next attack, rushing forward to the trainee a rapier user just attacked. Passing by the rest of his party he yells out to those who haven't attacked "Get off your asses and fight dammit!". Moving forward closer toward the soldier, he calls out to anyone else listening "Someone heal the girl before anything else happens!". Drawing his sword once again, he slashes at the paralyzed soldier, with the familiar bleed effect showing up. "Enjoy the bleed you b******." he mutters before leaping back to his party. Dominion 0 Posted March 31, 2017 #86 Report Share Posted March 31, 2017 (edited) Dominion seemed to be distant from combat, almost as though his thoughts had traveled to another place. He came to full conscious to find himself still in combat. Looking to both sides, his team hadn't taken any damage... which was not the case for the other team. A guy in his team was yelling that someone should help out the girl, but it was clear other people were protecting her. Even though this man clearly had no right to tell him how to handle the situation, it became clear that guy himself was unable to perform such a task. That first team had taken witness to the death of a player, and that was something that would take time to process. However, more importantly to him, the other team had taken some damage from the last hit, one person Dominion knew was dear to Atzo. Dominion was surprisingly eager to move, dashing around players that appeared to be frozen in place and came to stand beside Raina. He placed a hand on her shoulder, his hand glowing a golden hue. As the health bar grew more into the yellow from red, Dominion melded back into the players. Returning to stand beside Solomon, Dominion was still processing the current combat. He felt as though he were in the midst of combat as players moved about to make successful and unsuccessful attacks, but at the same time there was a lack of fear. Solomon stood with nothing but his bare hands, feet and the clothes he wore while beside the monk guy. A man that Solomon supposed was on his team began to run at a boss yelling words with intent and purpose, but it was pretty much in vain. That is, Solomon could not see why he should join in the combat. Solomon knew, however, that Dominion should help out the other team, if somehow he was able to. Looking to his side, Solomon could see that Dominion was spacing out. Solomon pointed to the other team, which was currently being protected and gave him a questioning look. Dominion quickly took off and ran among the players. Solomon turned to watch the player that yelled attack a soldier that somehow spawned. Solomon was intrigued by the quick slash of the sword and the lowering of the health bar. He was unsure whether or not they did it in fear of what could happen upon attacking, or if they were simply waiting for another to engage before them. The lad wasn't going to be the one to make a move, being as low a level as the previous player who had been killed. His eyes moved towards a woman, who had the appearance of a feline. He found it odd that she was messing around in the middle of an event boss fight. As long as it wasn't killing anyone, there wasn't really any issue with it. There were a few players who had managed to land decent strikes against one of the Minotaur, but a majority of players stayed idle, simply observing the fight. What should I do? Aoda questioned, unsure of what other players would have done in the situation. He waited, watching as the next group made their attacks. Link to post Share on other sites

He watched as a few players stood in fear, trembling too much from the king, to be able to possibly move their legs. He was not exactly happy with the death of his colonel, but he must move on with the battle. He forward, glaring at every player that his eyes met. Baran stood tall and strong, doing quite well for himself. He on the other hand, was obliterating all that stood in his way. The entire group that had the nerve to mess with him last, Sir Loin and his fellows, had been dispatched temporarily from the battlefield, as his skills paralyzed each of them. "Now to focus on the weakest of the puny beings" He looked over at the trainees and even the Field commander that still were spazzing uncontrollably. The God of the Minotaur's let out a heavy sigh, lifting his axe up and tapping it back to the ground, a bit dissapointed with the abilities of his subjects. This is the force that was supposed to protect him if need be? He had no need for the help, but it was nice if his subjects would dispatch enemies as they should. He watched with a careful eye of the few players started taking turns attacking his trainee. He grumbled angrily. "Get up you fools, and prepare yourself. The final battle still lies ahead" The stopped twitching and slowly began to recover from the status that had affected them. That was more appropriate. He heard approaching to his left and he turned to face the oncoming attackers. He would teach them, just as he did the others. He also noted that the Baron was getting close to dying. Itzal didn't care about the boss drop. He didn't care who got it at this point, though it would be nice if someone besides the KoB would get one for a change. No right now he was focused on getting the players out of here alive. Itzal turned to his party. "Guys! Let's help finish off the Baran! Once he's down players will be receiving far less damage and we can all focus on Asterios!" With that Itzal charged forward at the Baran. He shot forward, Velnia beside him, and leaped at the Baran. He had used his stun art beforehand which obviously didn't work, so now he'd use his wide ranged attack. This time he'd strike the Baran as well as the soldier and commander. Itzal released Shadow explosion and struck at the three, dealing pitiful damage to the Baran, finishing off the soldier, and finally damaging the commander. While he attacked Velnia scratched at one, bit the other, and then shot a small volt of lightning at one of their butts before retreating with Itzal. Mack 0 Posted April 3, 2017 #91 Report Share Posted April 3, 2017 The Vice Commander picked himself up off of the ground after being bulldozed by Asterios, using the haft of Invictus as a sort of crutch to get back to his feet. Rolling his head around on his neck, and making sure that he kept himself positioned between the minotaurs and Raina while the low level player retreated the towering axe man narrowed his storm grey eyes as the Commander himself, Heathcliff, intervened against Nato and reduced the smallest of the three bosses to pixels. That was, at least, one less thing to worry about. Tightening his grip on the enormous axe, Mack waited for an opening to appear and then dashed into it. The Vice Commander slammed a heavy shoulder into the Field Commander, knocking the minion from his feet. Spinning past the minion, Mack whipped the business end of Invictus around his body and slammed it into Baran's midsection to knock down a solid piece of the middle bosses health. Turning to Asterios, Mack tomahawked Invictus over his head in a savage chopping attack, but Asterios managed to step to the side to avoid the attack. Macradon 0 Posted April 3, 2017 #92 Report Share Posted April 3, 2017 (edited) Receiving what seemed like a puny attempt at a smack, Macradon would be grazed by a simple, yet undignifying slap that would tap his head lightly. This was what the “great” Nato could muster, too afraid to even throw of any single attack at Macradon. He would scoff it off like a fly on his shoulder, nothing more than a nuisance. Quickly focussing at something else, Macradon would look at the second boss that was present at the event, General Baran. A great bull, hopefully stronger than Nato as he was a mere pushover for himself, which didn’t surprise him at all. Letting out a deep sigh, Macradon would ready himself, getting into stance and positioning himself properly so he wouldn’t get in the way of the others. Lowering his sword, Macradon would initialize the running as the <Charge> skill would be activated. As he got closer to the to-be-steak, Macradon would unleash a flurry of 6 blows that would seemingly stun the bull, but as experienced from before, that would probably not happen. Beatbox 0 Posted April 3, 2017 #93 Report Share Posted April 3, 2017 This battle was rather uneventful for Beatbox's group it had seemed, rather- there was more going on with another party, heck, Beatbox had heard from somewhere that a player had died. He could only assume that it was a low leveled player, Beatbox had shook his head... in a stance, thats what he gets for not coming prepared or coming in without security that he might live- but at the same time, that could have been a useful ally that had just perished. Beatbox shook his head and looked over to another party... they're all paralyzed. In a stance, again- that was pretty funny to see, but at the same time... it's pretty dangerous to see as allies are now on the ground unable to move from another attack. He let out a bellowing laugh and readied his warhammer, but then watched in confusion as they turned direction, moving towards the lesser Minotaurs. The king of the bulls raged, his attention watching the darker-haired one that had commanded them to attack his brethren. He watched with fury, as the group that was supposed to fight him, finished off Baran, his general, and one of the trainees. He shook his head and stepped forward, bellowing his rage. The ferocity of his voice shattered through the cheers over the loss of his general, and the clash of weapons. For a moment, there was silence, and Asterios spoke his mind. "FOOLISH MORTALS! YOU HAVE COME TOO FAR, KILLING MY GENERAL AND COLONEL!" His bellows were a match to the howl skill's rage and volume. "SURRENDER YOURSELVES! AND PERHAPS I WON'T ERADICATE YOU WITH MY DIVINE WRATH!" He slammed his warhammer into the ground with a force that would sent a jolt through every player's legs, but not hard enough to damage them. He was proving his point. He was enraged, and would gladly slaughter all of them, but he was musing over the idea of slowly torturing them, along with using them for training session prey for the trainees. There was no point in attacking anything else, though he was tempted to attack the Field commander. He activated his Woodland armour knowing that it was probably pointless. But on the off-chance either Asterios or the Field Commander was still alive by the time he had another chance he would take the chance and attack them. “I am going to be leaving the party if the Field Commander or Asterios happen to be still alive by our next attack. If you are strong enough to attack them then I will ask for your help, but Don’t push yourself too hard. I don’t need to have another person die on me today.” Atzo prepared Misguidance to attack should he get the chance, trying to see where he should go in terms of party. There was nothing his group could really do at this point. The Field Commander still stood as well but attacking him wouldn't do them much good either without getting some decent attention on themselves.The best they could do at this moment would be to either get out of the way or join another group and focus on Asterios with them. Looking to Atzo he said, "Not much point in staying for most of the group. We hardly dealt damage to Nato, so I doubt we can do anything more than poke at it with our swords." Lifting his sword up to enunciate his point. "Our best bet is to probably stand back and take on any minor mobs that spawn to protect the big guy." The best they could do was exactly that. She looked around and saw all the damaged equipment and scattered pixels and almost wept. She felt the cold metal and glass of the health potion in her hand and opened it, allowing the sickly sweet taste to flood down her throat, drop by drop. The crimson liquid flooded through her small frame like a searing flame, restoring the very essence of her life. She felt her body strengthen as her health points rejuvenated back to max. She continued to further her distance between her self and the remaining boss, trying her best to make it back to a safe spot, she really did not want to feel the steel of the monster's blade again. She wiped the tears from her face as she looked around the scorched battlefield. This was her new life now and she really did not like the thought of it. He looked confident as he stood in front of the boss. In an instant, a new name appeared on her party list. Heathcliff. The bosses health was low, and this man stood mightily in front of it. His weapon took on a golden light, and he finished off the boss. Instantly, she flew into a rage. That man had stole the hit from them.... A boss of low abilities was just stolen form them by a higher level. She was a bit ticked, but she had not gotten the last hit anyway, so she really did not care. She regrouped with the other lowlies and listened to each of them talk. A few of them mentioned on how they would stick around if needed so, and another was down about the damage output each of them had done. She turned away and forwned, her facial expressions hidden by her cloak. 'The damage dealt by them was pitiful, my damage was quite alright if I do say so myself' A little bit more, and she would have been responsible for the last hit. She noticed two of their players were from the same guild, the same guild that had lost a member. 'Absolute idiots to even think of bringing such a low level in here without buffs or equipment.' None advanced upon him, so perhaps he instilled some fear intot heir hearts. He stood there smugly, a bit proud of himself for his massive strength and size. The lower levels were now gathering together, speaking amongst themselves. He was certain they would be great morsels for his trainees. The group that he had single-handedly battered to pieces still lay there, mot likely scared out of their wits. This left only to groups even to think to try anything. Which would mean they were the bravest... or the stupidest. He needed some like that in his army. Ones that would obey his every command.... Like Nato or Baran. He eyed the darker haired player that had led the assault on Nato. He would personally keep that one on a chain as he destroyed his friends, and then he would personally destroy him. A little token of his gratitude for the work he had done. "I have to find a new general and colonel now" he thought. That would be quite a boring, but important part of his time. Spoiler Col. This mob was great at puns! Then, out of the corner of his eyes, he seen an axe flying, smashing it into his face. Immediately, his momentum went backwards, he twirled through the air before sprawling onto the ground, his weapon skidding a few feet from him. "Ouch" He pushed himself off the ground, but then he felt his body turn to lead and he fell to the ground. He was paralyzed. "T-tota-totally not f-fair!" He struggled to say. He watched as the beast stomped over to the rest of his party and stunned each of them as well. One-by one they each fell to the ground. 'An AoE paralyze? That is completely unfair!' He slammed his fist into the ground and watched the battle from there. He heard more shattering, but could not turn himself around to see. Had Baran killed a player?
