’Learn? You want to be a blacksmith? Fine. Bring me the materials to build something, and I’ll teach you the ways.’ Dismissive, abrupt, but more importantly containing no argument like Nari had expected. Either the system had changed more than she expected, or the blacksmith had grown in personality over the many days that had passed. Whatever the reason, she chose not to dwell upon it, instead heading out immediately in a determined stride. A small wave was all she gave as she passed Merv, the stationary guard same as every other time she’d passed him during the time in Aincrad. He gave

Moments passed as Nari struggled with a decision that was, in a sense, already made. She could see Onora’s smile breaching the corners of her mouth as time passed further onwards, knowing as well as Nari was that it was an inevitable fight with an inevitable conclusion – one which was saved from being made as the alerts began pouring in, in front of their eyes. Nari glanced over them, ready to swipe them away with annoyance, when she spotted one that made her stop and question her actions. ’…you can collect professions now?’ The other information was thrown from her mind as she saw image

Nari didn’t like the truth behind the words, the way in which Onora could simply come out and say something that would normally shake one to their core, leaving them unsettled and possibly upset – and yet somehow looking upon the blonde with a level of thankfulness, or appreciation for the tartness of her words. She shook her head, as if wanting to argue, but true as she was to herself, she instead found herself agreeing with her companion. Words slipped from her instantly; no threats, no arguments, nothing more than a measure of true agreement that Nari realised had been nagging at herself fo

Earning a Living: Blacksmith Crispness covered the air. A crispness that was always present on this floor, and one that Nari had come to enjoy this time of the year. It reminded her, in many ways, of the autumns she would stroll through without a second thought, before she had been trapped away from it all. Now, all she had were the faint memories that seemed to be fading with every passing day. She wasn’t sure how long she’d been here, though it had felt like an eternity since the first day; the day when they had been told that this would be their new lives. The day that had left their w

Resting the pumpkin shaped helmet onto the ground at his feet, the ginger vaulted over the balcony's banister to join the others. "You know what they say." he would look over to Jevi who had threatened him violence. "Play spooky games, win spooky prizes." He would look to the group as a whole and clasp his hands together with a clank from his armored gauntlets. "I'm happy to see that no one managed to get lost on the path, I know the Fire Forest can be rather difficult to traverse at night... and can be rather deadly.. if you aren't careful.." he slowly turned and singled out Jevi'

Poor kid, she seems stressed as all get out. Reytac gave the offered hand a brief shake before turning away to toss her the party invite. It took only a few moments to send it to her, and then he clapped his hands together as she asked what the next step was. He gave her an easy smile as his eyes started roving across the area around them, before he picked a direction almost at random to start walking in. Only almost, random, as in the distance he had seen the shape of birds moving in the distance, and he knew that he, at least, was interested in an avian companion. “Well, Miss Cascade, th

Reytac blinked a couple times, the words on the quest screen dancing in front of him. Something was bothering him about the quest, but for the life of him he couldn't quite put his finger on it. Like a cut on the inside of his mouth that he couldn't stop worrying on, it was sitting there, just below active thought and pestering. He shoved that vague concern away, since all it was doing right now was slowing him down and distracting him. The brunette turned to look at Teion, only for his head to swim slightly as it felt like he went through a pressure drop, making him woozy for a moment. It pas -
She peered over at the man, his sudden movement had set her on alert. What were his intentions? She turned to him as he raised a hand to her in greeting. "Howdy there miss, nice ta meetcha. Name's Reytac. You interested in working together for the, 'Feeding Your Enemy,' quest? I think it can be co-oped." It wasn't necessarily the fact that there was something wrong with the player that now stood before her, but the wary feeling from before lingered. The atmosphere around them felt thick and grimy, the green haired woman had put her on edge, and to top it off, a random stranger now offe

“Mr. Invincible-as-he-is-witty-as-he-is-charming rolls into the arena, without a care in the world… "- Jimantha. What's yours?" The voice was distant, as if spoken from the other end of a thick wall. As her sentence trailed off, it became clearer. Closer. Just enough to snap Jomei back to the present. "Huh?" Olive orbs sprung back to life, trailing down to the young girl that clung to his hand. "Your name!" she seemed a lot more comfortable now that she was back in town, on the way to the orphanage. Jomei would force a smile and a small chuckle before responding, "Oh, he

She listened to his explanation with mild indifference. A frontline-hopeful. She could hardly rebuff his aspirations, given how proudly Ryo stood among those ranks. Teion could only acknowledge her own decision to stay away from it. ”Hmm.” She gave a short hum in response, followed by a blunt comment, ”It’s certainly not boring up there.” His shift in tone caused her to look back at the man–at least after she was done tackling that stubborn glass–when he introduced himself. ”Oh.” She echoed, realizing that they’d briefly missed that step of exchanging names. ”I’m Teion. Faerie replied to Faerie's topic in Beginner Floors
Fae was glad for the darkness that the winding tunnel to the main cavern provided. She had always blushed easily, especially from compliments and even more especially when they came from attractive women, and her pale skin made it nearly impossible to hide. She smiled at her new friend's reaction, it was practically the same one she had when Kas had shown it to her for the first time. "I know right. It's places like this that made me fall in love with exploring this tower, there are so many places to love and to see." The pair went there seperate ways in the cavern, not so far that they couldn -
At the touch, the horizontal and vertical pieces of the cross split apart, clattering to the ground with a noise that seemed preternaturally loud. The hastily-made marker had, apparently, been clinging to life by a thread. A strong wind might have sent it it tumbling. But it wasn’t a strong wind that destroyed the one piece of him that remained - it was yet another clueless human. And that couldn’t go unpunished. The darkness hovering over the grave coalesced into the form of a man. He stood a head taller than the players before him, but his posture, and the way that he glared down at the

Reytac followed the purple-haired woman into the bar, and let out a soft sigh of relief as he pushed his rain-slick hair back from his face again, and this time it wasn't immediately shoved back down by the constant drizzle. It wasn't like it was a solid downpour, but the storm never let up out there, even for a moment. It was like they were in one of those old noir films about a stormy city, but instead of a neon abyss their environment was ore along the lines of oversized fishing town. He shook his head side to side, scattering water from his hair and face, then gave an irritated scowl when -

Teion replied to Reytac's topic in Intermediate Floors
His initial response was the opposite of what she was thinking–that she had expected to see someone else around, somewhere, on this floor, but that it was strange that it had taken this long. His admission of a teleportation mishap caused her to cock an eyebrow and take another brief look over him. Her eyes paused at the hammer in his hands. Best she could tell, it looked incredibly basic. She thought about prying over his level, asking why he wouldn’t just head back down to a lower floor. Instead, she just frowned and turned her gaze back to the building. He’d said exactly what she was thinki -
Reytac waved one hand in front of his face, trying to clear the thick, choking dust that was hanging around him away. Out of the corner of his eye he spotted motion, and at first he thought he'd seen a rat or something, or a moth. He knew he was alone in the jailhouse, after all. So when he turned to look at it, and started hearing the faint sound of sobs - his skin got covered in goosebumps, and all the hair on his neck stood up sharply. Because drifting closer was something that was definitely not some kind of animal, or insect - it was a shorter figure, yes, but still human. If humans were

"Mari wait!" Mari paused, glancing over at Jomei. Had he already returned her to the city? Eyebrows rose into her hairline as her eyes widened, seeing the little girl in tow. Tiny hands balled up and clutching the length of his pants, practically threatening to pull them down. Mari hoped the man had a strong belt. She didn't need to see anything unbecoming. Jomei scrambled to offer her an apology but Mari held up his hand and he stopped, trailing off. "You should take her back." Mari's eyes glanced down to the small girl, and she flinched - hiding behind his leg. "Please. Do what I

Astra replied to Wulfrin's topic in Beginner Floors
"W-what? Stalkers is a bit harsh I think..." As much as the two of them followed with the best of intentions, Astra had to admit that she did have a point. He'd probably feel similarly if he noticed two people tailing him, you could never be too cautious in the floating castle. Her body language was closed off to the two of them, and it seemed that even though him and Wulfrin were telling the truth, they weren't making much progress. She did seem somewhat skittish, looking over her shoulders as they spoke, dark eyes darting back and forth. Was there something she was running from, or was -

Reytac replied to Reytac's topic in Intermediate Floors
"Again, I am sorry about that, I wasn't paying attention to where I was going - I didn't expect to see anyone else here." Other than distant shapes in the storm clouds or fog off in the distance, Reytac hadn't seen another person since he arrived on this floor. He was honestly surprised to have run into someone else here - and embarrassed to have literally run into her. He didn't take offense to the way her eyes flicked up when she ran into him - it was a good precaution, and especially this high up was probably a healthy one to take. He did the same, a small bit of tension easing from his sho -

There it was again, that odd tension in the air when the green-haired woman handed the new arrival her own bowl of Familiar Food. It was almost like the air was filled with ozone, a lightning strike about to happen - but there was nothing, just the Tamer going back to busying herself with things and ignoring the two Players. Reytac rubbed the back of his head and gave a slight shrug before turning his attention to the new person, raising one hand in greeting. "Howdy there miss, nice ta meetcha. Name's Reytac. A flash of movement in the left cell heralded the ghost’s arrival. It was as if the air around the figure simply parted for her, dust particles and light bending around her silhouette as she drifted from the bench to the bars of her cage. Her form was far from solid - more like a slight distortion to reality, visible only if the viewer were to squint and tilt their head a bit. But the soft sobs that racked her were unmistakable, and very real. The sound of them, soft, shallow, and breathless, filled the small building. And with each second that passed, the source came into clearer focus.

It was Winnies first time in a virtual world. Everything was new and scary. Upon her arrival in the game she had been met by dark skies. The objects fell from the clouds as though they were leaves of a tree, flittering, and fluttering downward towards her. There must have been thousands. Eyes glued to the sky slowly losing focus. Her mind subconsciously drifted away from reality. Everyone she had ever known was inside this world and she had been tasked with rescuing them. How could she even attempt such an outrageous thing?! Her mind threatened to become undone, but she fought it desperately.
