  1. Past hour
  2. She wasn't going to cry. Even though Abellio's words felt like a warm, comforting blanket draped heavily over her shoulders - oddly weighted yet so very light. She wouldn't cry. Lydia's eyes stung and her tears threatened to fall, but she wouldn't let them. She'd cry later. Right now, she just wanted to be in the moment. To enjoy her personal sun for just a bit longer before her own storm clouds obfuscated them. She. Would. Not. Cry. Instead, she twisted in her seat and scooted as close to Abellio as she possibly could. She felt him try to release her hand. She didn't let him, her fi

  4. Abellio had to think for a moment. What was someone supposed to say to soothe years of trauma? God, she probably hated herself. But at the same time, she was taking command of her life. From her skin, to her clothes, even the way she acted. Because she probably wasn't going to ever leave the town without that first push. And she would have never learned what she could do. Never would have found that confidence to just stop silently suffering with it all. Abellio's fingers curled around hers. He was suddenly keenly aware that their hands were entwined. But he couldn't pull away right
  5. Lydia took another steadying breath. "Okay, so," she began. And she gave him the entire story. About her job in the real world and about how she was never given a real choice about it all. She told him about the piercings and the tattoos done at her manager's behest. With her parents' blessing. She spared no detail about how much it hurt or the sharp "corrections" her mother gave her for having the audacity to cry. How dare she be emotional over her skin being permanently marked? Good girls didn't cry, even when the needles bit into her skin. "But I'm here now. And I don't have to lo

  7. By the time Miyuki returned to the alchemy shop, her boots were caked with dust, and her fingers tingled from hours of combing through underbrush. Still, she pushed through the wooden door with steady steps and a faint smile on her face. Zackariah was still there, buried in glass bottles and strange glowing mixtures. A faint pop! came from one of the beakers behind him, followed by a cloud of lavender smoke curling toward the ceiling. “Ah!” he called without turning. “Back already? I take it you’ve braved the wild unknown and survived?” “I did,” she replied calmly, stepping
  8. The deeper Miyuki walked, the quieter the world became. Grass gave way to soft earth, scattered with pine needles and the faint scent of damp bark. The canopy above her swayed gently, sunlight flickering through in golden shafts that danced over the forest floor. Her boots crunched softly against twigs and pebbles. She paused near a leaning tree with roots twisted above the ground like skeletal arms reaching outward. Kneeling beside them, she spotted a patch of deep-green moss — and nestled within it, something caught her eye. A cluster of pale blossoms peeked out from between two ro
  9. The wind shifted as Miyuki moved through the uneven terrain, her boots pressing softly into the mossy earth. Ahead, a cluster of fallen logs lay in a half-circle — likely remnants of a past storm, or maybe placed there by the developers to look “natural.” Either way, it was promising. She crouched low again, eyes narrowing as she spotted a patch of pale green sprouting from beneath the shadow of one of the logs. The leaves were wide, with faint blue veins trailing through their surface — and when she looked closer, she saw it: A shimmer. Not much. Just a tiny glint of light

  11. Miyuki knelt in the tall grass just outside the protective walls of Tolbana, a light breeze teasing the loose strands of her hair. Her eyes narrowed as she scanned a cluster of overgrown plants in front of her. The fondue from Zackariah still lingered on her tongue — warm, creamy, and oddly comforting — but it did nothing to help her tell one weed from another. “Broad leaves. Blue stems. A little sparkle. Sounds easy,” she thought, reaching into the greenery. What she pulled out, though, was nothing short of embarrassing — a scraggly twig coated in dry mud, with a single wilted
  12. Her mood suddenly darkened. The smile slipped from her face, replaced by a slight frown. Lydia really wished Abellio hadn't asked him that. Because now that he asked, she needed to answer. And she remembered what he'd said. How he needed her to pay closer attention. How he had been so clearly and plainly honest with her. She would match his energy. Lydia had never really confided in anyone about her past or her life outside of the game. The sudden change would require that she explain herself. Or at least try to. To Oscar. To Warren. And Abellio especially. She took a deep breath, opening

  14. Kyoto’s blade sang through the ash-thick air, the activation of his Sword Art crackling like static lightning down the steel. In one smooth motion, he unleashed the full sweep of his strike — a wide, arcing blow that radiated pale-blue energy with every inch it traveled. The first bandit, a towering figure with jagged armor and a cruel grin, charged too far ahead of his comrades and paid the price. The blade struck him dead center, cleaving through his defenses and sending him flying. A flare of pixels burst around him as he crashed to the dirt, gasping. A single red sliver blinked above
  15. Edict had sputtered awake, Sable had pulled himself to his feet, and Elora was in good standing too. Astra let out a small sigh of relief that nobody had drowned or taken any major injuries. Wasting little time, the party started to try and figure out where to go from here. There weren't many options left - they could either try to cut through the forest ahead, or continue to follow the water. At this point, without a boat and the waters being as dangerous as they were, it seemed like their only option was through the thick trees. "Glad everyone's okay, but yeah, we should get moving. I'
  16. Abellio was quick to answer Lydia's call. He leaned against the fountain, clear view of the Teleport Plaza. Each time it flashed to signal an incoming Player, his eyes lit up. Only to find himself disappointed that it was someone else entirely. And so it was for a few minutes, getting his hopes up and constantly deflating when the new arrival wasn't her. Each second that ticked by made his heart beat faster, redoubled his excitement. He was practically sparking with energy by the time she arrived. At least, he thought it was her. She looked different. Same general style, far less ink and
  17. Weren't these battles supposed to be electrically charged? With that certain energy of desperation in the air as everyone clung to the hopes of escape? The mantra, one more floor...one more boss...Why was that feeling missing here? Without warning Mari was hit with a sense of vertigo, she had to steady herself as darkness encroached on her vision. It was as though everything became dull, and dark - shadowed nothingness. It reminded Mari of the void, and oh how intimately familiar with that had she been lately - so this? This seemed like a paltry party trick on comparison. "Pathetic..."
  18. Life in Aincrad made for some real miracles. Lydia stood over her bathroom sink, running her fingers over her bare, untainted arms. It was the first time since she was 16 that she was able to see the skin beneath the sleeves of ink. She always wore jackets, hiding her inkwork under layers of cloth. She did away with the piercings too, hand slowly moving down her midriff, her breath hitching when she didn't feel that ring beneath her fingertips. She felt clean for the first time in years. And sure, it was probably all illusion. They were still sullying her skin in the real world. But

  22. STY/L's performance was getting a little more intense. Of course, Lysette was the best rapper amongst the group and she let it show as she went into that portion of the song. Her back-up vocals were all that was needed at the moment so she looked to keep the stage clear again. Several more unwanted 'fans' had found their way on to Abellio's hard work. Her boots would teach them that interrupting a STY/L concert was one of the most grave sins someone could commit when she was on stage. The sound of metal hitting fleshy bits would have been heard if Lysette wasn't giving it her all just now
  23. The Paladin watched as the boss turned from Mina, back to the black armored monster he was, then his form seemed to cave in around her vision. A brief moment of panic began to set in as the memories of her near death experience was recreating itself. Her eyes moved around her HUD since the only thing she could see was that. A heartbeat pumping while she desperately searched for the boss. Her eyes flashed pink as she activated her Night Vision mod but it really only allowed her to see her hand in front of her face. Luckily, though, it was enough. A red glare appeared in her vision, only fa
  24. . "Maybe one day you can add either of us to your list of people you trust." "Maybeh...." Mari muttered as Katoka pulled Mari along and helped her into the carriage. Mari trusted very few people. She could count them on one hand - even then, most of those people she couldn't trust with much. Freyd...Raidou - okay. Two. Two people fit that category. At least it was better than none. “I should have suspected. Freyd always has a way out, doesn’t he?” Mari laughed, "hahah....yeh..." She spoke warmly, recalling the memory. "Yeh...he does...that'sh jush how he ish.. I worry fer
  25. Her heart sunk as she listened. The Katoka still cared, it was a good start. "If it makes you feel any better it wasn't intentional..." still so angry now more so knowing what happened. "I fell asleep in the shower with my clothes on from all that happened that day. The water turned cold and my clothes being like ice sent me into a shocking state." She was feeling down and stressed that night, not wanting to get out of the water at the moment didn't mean she didn't want to get out ever. "It was an accident..." a sad look on her face as Kat shoves her a bit. The girl was shaking, she was trying
