  1. Turning on his heel, the mountain of a man pivots and slams his weapon as hard as he can against the nearly dispersed slime. The amplifier that was Shiina's music adding such a monstrous amount of oomph behind the blow. It splats and sends a large smattering of goo off in each direction, much like watermelon struck with a baseball bat.

    These congeal and begin to produce new bodies in their own right. Shuttering and taking shape, they begin to produce smaller halves of the same whole. This quest sure is annoying, the smith thought to himself. It seemed much more akin to old stories he heard his father speak of:

    I once walked up a hill, in a blizzard with no shoes. At midnight

    It felt like that, a grueling and obviously nearly fake feeling of difficulty. Like running on a treadmill. Even still as his mind raced, the smith shored his defenses as attacks from the only solid shape slam against an awaiting shield. Sparks fly and turn to flame, causing the creature to recoil in disapproval.

  2. Tucking himself into the fray right behind the sheer potluck of potent powers that others were projecting. A momentary distraction as Shiina extrudes her cry of issues, as the tank heads into the thick of it. Heaving that hammer right into the mess, sees it pass harmlessly through his intended target. "Shit." Griswold barks out as he braces up.

    A string of syrup becomes a serrated set of spears. Holding his shield close to his body, they blind out in a bolstered blast of death. Raining in like 100 arrows, each connect with the wall held before him. The bulwark ignites in response, and the creature recoils as that dim amber glow billows off the guys heavy shoulders.

    "Not a fan?" The smith offers in a snide comment, as he turns and faces the other half while it burned so drastically it pops apart to defend itself. Both attacks waned so weakly on his wrath.

  3. The hearty tank steps back from the fire breath that Celeste had just spit out, an outcry that could make anyone smile. The chain now lax, the frame to which he was clutching the boss that was now nothing more then a splattering. A sigh of relief, as he pivots on his heel and hucks the hammer in Freyd's direction. A searing hot mallet right through an awaiting remainder, sees a shower of blue sparks. The fight was over...

    He turns and gives the chain a heavy tug, pulling the mallet back into his grasp. But the collecting slime breathes an ominous retraction of his thoughts. It was getting back up, in two halves instead of a whole. Griswold grunts, releases the hammer and dangles it by the binding to its pommel. With one broad stroke, the piece finds itself in a wide sweep cold clocking one hard enough to jar its noodle and glancing the other. But they both seem relatively unfazed, one even squatting out a child from the arm the smith had struck.

    "That's just gross." Griswold remarks in that deep tone, with the most uncomfortable look on his face.

  4. Chains bound to the Slime King, members of the group taking pot shots at it while the bind remained. Griswold struggles against the creatures strength and pulls taught that binding. Even still the pressure on the line threatens to break it. A thought crosses the smiths mind, and with it a look of eureka passes his brow. He pulls once hard, then rushes the thing. Slamming his shoulder into the mass as he shortens the chains length. Using his foot to brace and overheads it into the floor beneath him. Undenounced to him however, it leaves a piece of the creature behind. This newly created child, worms its way underneath a pile of bone. Eagerly seeking the moment to strike, desperate to remain unnoticed until then.

    "I have it!" Griswold barks, holding steadfast with tension on the line. Darting beneath the darkness lies an abomination in waiting. It slinks beneath the refuse and sizes up its opposition.

  5. Upkeep: +28 HP (BH), +4 EN recovered
    Upkeep 2: takes 32 from BLGT

    The metallic chunking of plate armor as the well built boulder moved in to close the gap. The king was already clearly eying as many targets as it could, and it was his job to halt that shit. Twirling the hammer in his grasp he releases the handle and allows the chain to carry it. Spinning it and tossing it past, the king shifts as the coil flies right over its left shoulder. A singular tight pull, pulls that chain taught and hooks the small mallet like a barb in the things armor. One heavy pull with both hands sees them collide, a heavy slam of Griswold's helmet against the creature. His ears ring, given this thing was quite solid in its own right. But despite it, its attentions were fixated on the smith. "Give it hell!" Griswold barks shaking his head and keeping the binding between him and the boss nice and tight. Coin the blacksmith wrestler routine, having concussed himself and the Slime King with a head butt.

    No one wins in a head butt. Except Griswold, because Griswold.

    Pure Structure: Any DoT effects on the boss will last half their original duration, except for Burn. Afflicting the boss with Burn will also deal double damage to it.
    Self Sustaining: On a CD 9+, <<Slime King>> will heal 100 HP at the end of his turn.
    Royal Gel: On an MD 9-10, the <<Slime King>> will launch an AoE attack at the four players with the highest hate, dealing 160 DMG and afflicting them with T4 Blight for two turns. This skill cannot occur once <<Gelatinous Form>> has activated.
    Quick Split: On a CD 9+ and LD 10+, the <<Slime King>> will not attack and instead, summon a <<Slime Abomination>> to his aid. A <<Slime Abomination>> can only be summoned once per turn. This skill is deactivated once <<Gelatinous Form>> has activated twice.
    Gelatinous Form: Every time the boss’ health reaches 0, two more Kings will spawn, using the next lowest HP available. If a Slime King with the lowest amount of max HP possible dies, he will not spawn any more.

     

  6. Joining into the fray in the final hour, this would be the last before they'd have to spin around and face the boss. Griswold spins the head of his hammer, stopping into range with heavy footfalls. A singular heave with a downward strike connects, dealing considerable damage to all within range. The one he struck at first dies without an issue, the second however detonates. It sprays steaming hot gel in all directions catching the girls and himself in the blast. As he begins to tap with haste as it began to eat at his armor, what little remained started to gather beneath his feet. This had a way of proving the danger they were all in. After all this was one of the hardest quests available, and despite their levels and experience it still had a few surprises. "Kill it." Griswold barks to the rest of the group, doing his damned to stop the sounds of it chewing up the plates on him.

  7. Griswold lifts a heavy wall of a shield, his weapon charging up with energies as members of the group made a right mess of the chamber. Through a dark blue plated helmet, he scans the walls. Shoring up his embrace and clutching heavy the blacksmith's mallet in his off hand. These things were already long dead, weakly meandering before collapsing. "More to come." Griswold forebodes with a deep and gruff voice. Clacking his hammer to his shield, making the thing light ablaze in fire of its own. Others begin to slither out of the walls, his noise drawing them in. They'd have to clear the area if they wished a simpler fight with 'the big one.' Pouring out and up from various drains, sludge coalesced into more solid shapes. 

    As they'd wrap in, the other players seemed to shore up in tandem. This was a slaughter, and not for them.

  8. Griswold slides in with this long string of green hanging off his right heel. Although it stuck to his boot given his sheer mass, it did little to slow him down. Instead it clung there like glue and kept stretching. It looked something along the lines of the worlds largest radioactive taffy. With a heavy grunt through a plated helmet, the man leans down and puts his hammer in the moosh before snapping the junk. This causes it to recoil and rubber band back like a tape measurer released. "I'm here." But curious he looks to Raidou. There was hardly a reason for two tanks on this affair, and yet he was asked to play the part. The boy was up to something, it seemed a bit too odd. The smith welcomed the escape, the forge hadn't been that active as of late and the break from floor 9 needed.

    A cacophony of bones and soup, Freyd looked no different then the last time he'd seen the guy. Every time he'd seen the guy, the surroundings were similar. Some dark dank place filled with fake bones and odd smells. This was the name of the game, and although Griswold wasn't the most hip player he'd do it. Fucking teenagers.

  15. A nod, as he offers a handful of col to the harbormaster. The NPC points to one of the small rafts fit for two players, and Griswold leans down to start unfurling the ropes. "Don't worry too much, I can take it. This wouldn't be the first time I've been struck by lightning." Griswold chuckles, as he casts the rope into the boat. Taking a step off the dock, the boat sways a bit and sinks a bit from the weight. "I don't know a lick about all that, we can find a fox. I'll leave the uh, folklore to you." Removing his plate helmet and tucking it on the floor, so he could see well enough. He reaches for a paddle and waits for Fives to step in before starting to push along the stagnant water. In the distance, those same reverberating flashes of white scatter back and forth through cloud coverage. Right into the belly of where the Lord of the Seas was found, but they would steer far enough away to avoid the field boss.

  17. Another flash and a heavy suit of plate armor matched with a silverish shield that didn't gleam. The sun obscured and in the distance a scattering of a rumble graces the skies. Matched with it, the soft patter of rain as it glanced the top of pools of water that formed bogs between patchy grass. That same terrain rustles, as the man steps from Lazzaro's warp platform. Across the small village, the troughs where boats milled and moved through waterways. Bamboo frames covered in green growth from the humidity and a few bodies move on their own. Uninterested in the player's sudden arrival. Where the sun was absent, light was given through lantern instead. A simple orangish glow that did well to offer its glow and provide eyes.

  18. Griswold gave Freyd's weapon a curious stare, how the hell did it end up as gloves? Man, this game was a strange place. Before he can even question it however, Freyd gracefully redirects the man's attention to the blonde woman that was in the ring not but a moment or so ago. "Uh." The sudden introduction catches him off guard, and he finds himself as a deer in headlights. The wheels were spinning, yet the cuckoo wasn't out of the clock. Looking back and forth for a second, he sets down a bowl of ramen #14. "Hi, good fight. You really gave it to that other girl. Both of you can take a pounding."     "I'm Griswold." The most awkward introduction to date, this was an old man in a mingling of children. It had only been a decade since he'd last been at a party.   20. Raising a hammer and tapping the side of Vulcan to rouse the beast. "Let me see what I can do." He mutters as he motions around the large anvil and begins to pluck up weapons, in a spattered pile. Cast down to the beast, they begin to superheat. The smith starts to collect the molten liquid that pours out in ingot molds, finding that cup overflow as they are boiled.

    After some time, working his way through the pile, is a fair portion of a dozen different molds filled with metal. Of different shades and color. Taking two that are cooled, and casting them into the flames, they begin to meld together. Forging them into alloys of vibrant color, unsure what was to be the resulting mixture. As they'd take, The smith began to offer them to a few of these strange scales. Like sponges, they suck up the leftover material, becoming a handful of hot pieces that contained more than they should.

    Vibrant and glowing, until eventually that pile of ingots become nothing more than a section of four small heated gems. One final alloy, sees these melted down into a single ingot. "This is where a bad smith might fuck up all this hard work." A chuckle, as he caught the dribble into one final mold. Once collected, he motions to the anvil. Beginning to beat it straight, turning it from a bar and drawing it out thin. Showers of sparks one after another, taking a pair of calipers and starting to fold the layers before hammering it flat. Ten quickly turn to twenty, and from twenty to fourty. Each time it would begin to dim, it's returned to Vulcan and rekindled.

    In a straight metal bar, Griswold slams his hammer down upon those crystals. Reaching out and grabbing hold of the lingering wisps and forcing them into the heated straight. Pounding away with heavy and hearty blows, pushing those lingering magics into the edge. A turn with a glove, his skin scorched from the heat and the writhing energies. Into a bath, and as it cooled, it starts to bend toward the hardened back. Lifting a smoking hunk of steel, that signature bend of a katana. "Let's hope it held." Moving for a grindstone, and beginning to shuffle away at a pedal sees a shower of spark. Drawing the edge against it, revealing this edge of copper beneath the light blue exterior. Almost gold beneath the cobalt. "Interesting."

    Collecting some fittings, and beginning to weave together the handle. Adding on a tsuba as he taps on the grip and starts to bolt it down. A flash of blue, before it swaps to a vibrant orange. Demonic.

    Another blade, one meant for greatness. A swipe with his hand sees a bolt of energy strike against his anvil in a white trail. "It held." Sliding it into an awaiting saya, one of a similar shade with a metallic click. "Next."

    A few spears sitting there, once among a pile of katana's now forged into but a single blade. Grabbing a couple more of those stones that Freyd had brought to his forge. They are moved over to his anvil, and he grabs one of those weapons. He only knew of a handful player who would use something like these, and yet here Freyd was. It was almost plant like, and held its own brand of character. It didn't help to convince the smith that it was important to someone. A soft exhalation, and a dab of a white rag on his neck.

    "Well, here goes nothing." He casts the weapon toward Vulcan, with the aim to heat but not melt. Stoking the flame against the beast, and raising it to the anvil, drawing away the thin protective film with hammer blows and allowing the nerves beneath to become exposed. He turns and stokes the coals in the kiln behind him. It wasn't hot enough, but could keep it warm. To the second, wrapping a meaty fist around the handle. "And this is to offer?" Looking to Freyd who would nod.

    This one to the anvil, lowering the point down to his living fire. Chewing on the end until it burned a bright orange. Lifting that hammer high over his head, he slams it down hard. The sound of a cracking, as the force of power escaping, forces him to dig in his heels. It lashes out and cuts a red line across his chest and face. Eagerly and greedily, one of those stones quickly suck it up, finding the power trapped within its confines. Glowing with a mixture of aggression, in a prison cell to which one could see it within like an insect in amber.

    Going to the tended Verdigris, and plucking it from the fire. Back to the anvil, and starting to beat away. He'd have to reach the nerves beneath the outer skin, where the powers stemmed from. Eventually a flash, as a pinhole was opened. To the second gemstone, he'd quickly grasp and press it to the wound. Like before, that unstable magic sucked out as if through a straw. Now two, and a mundane spear. "Now the hard part." Griswold choked, wondering if he'd just irreparable damage.

    One after another like overcharged lightbulbs, After donning a pair of gloves, he smashes those crystals. Reaching out with both hands, pushing those freed powers together in an unstable focal. One can see the skin being torn off above the gloves, as that same dark energy riddled his frame. Battle healing doing its part to keep him together as fast as fresh cuts are made. Slammed together then forced down on an awaiting plain weapon, the searing as he punched it through the exposed nerve. Quickly with his mallet, and beating it down.

    Into the quench, an aggressive wave of white casts the shop into obscurity. An exhalation and a hope that it held. Once the steam stops, he pulls the spear out. Into oil and to a grinder. Drawing the point against it to reverse the dulling, and it whines in an electronic buzz and sparks. Lifting it up, it glows softly in blue and like a heartbeat halts and shifts orange. Another, just like that.

    From his seat, lifted over his shoulder and heaved toward the stone wall. It implants deep, and a sudden discharge sees an array of tendrils echo out from its point. The wall cracks and starts to succumb before the shop's protection kicks in and repairs it. "Wonder what would have happened if it could actually hurt this place." Griswold shuttered the thought, standing up and pulling heavy on its hilt. "Two weapons, I hope you have good intentions for these."

    Griswold was concerned not with Freyd's intentions, but what these could do if they fell into the wrong hands.

  21. A loud shout as he leans over the railing, getting slowly engrossed in the duels between players. "Gettum!" Griswold barks overlooking the fight between @Alkor & @Koga. Temperatures rose and the clacking of wood on wood as they locked given weapons together, and it seemed as though neither combatant was giving the other an inch. Koga almost looked like the underdog here, and Griswold was on the fence on who to support. An array of stacked bowls littered in a cascaded pile at his side, it would be clear he had a hearty appetite and despite prior reluctance had taken a liking to this 'Ramen'. Raising a fist in the air, and barking violently with gusto "You've got him on the ropes kid, give him hell!" aimed at Koga.

    The chattering of discussion causes him to pause, turning to look down at Astreya and Freyd's engagement. It was a battle of talking, which was a weird one. Was this still even a fair fight? Now that he thought about it, why have so many matches going at once? Doesn't that make it sort of difficult to pay attention as a ref? Asians were weird.

  22. A twist of his noggin as he eyeballs a strange looking bowl of worms. It was food? He takes a bite with a bit of reluctance, thinking he was about to regret it. Nope, it was food and it was good. A couple more bites as he struggled hard using chopsticks in fat sausage like fingers. Overhearing the mention. "@Freyd!?" The guy glances up from the bowl. Raising from his goofy little butt pillow and dusting off a string. The guy had been eyeing the fights while eating. "Good fight out there, but that stick didn't do you any good, yeah?" Eying @Jomei up and down, his words get ahead of him before he backpedals. "Oh uh, I'm Griswold." It was about as smooth as sandpaper on glass, but the guy was anything but subtle. 

    Some fights were still underway, and Griswold notices Freyd getting prepped to start fighting some tiny blue haired girl. How was this fair? The smith had forged his...stick? That makes a lot more sense. Wait, is that Eruda? Nope, but it was easy to make the confusion. The woman could easily be her mother. There were so many colorful characters, dude felt plain. Not like the noodles.

  23. Finding a flier while making the rounds through the town of beginning's, on a grocery trip. Most of the time the man reached only for common rations, of breads that he could stock up on at a penny a pound. But namely it was inferred that the host would be providing a rather outstretched meal, entertainment and the like. It had been some time since the big ass german man had been to a boxing match, and although this wasn't quite the same thing it could be just similar enough to remind him of home.

    It wasn't a far stretch of the imagination, and yet it was elegant in its design. "An Island?" Griswold remarked as he scanned the paper, good lord people had a lot of money to spend. His only method of reference was a real world island, that had to be quite the dollar sign. The warp gate and a decision, the guy barks out a location: "Floor 24: Scalabis" with the warning came lights and the gate charges rapidly, a bend of light and a jerk offers sunshine and the taste of tropical on the nose.

    "Now where?" scanning the sheet of paper, helplessly lost in this new cove and using the paper as a form of map. It takes him the better part of an hour, but he eventually finds Takumi. "Excuse me, can..." The old man remarks with the intention to ask for directions and is cut off. "Making your way to the tournament?" A pause, a scratch at the back of his head. Guess this wasn't the first time he was asked this today, I imagine. "Yeah, I uh."

    "Climb in, I'll take you."

    A twist of his head in confusion, having stumbled his way to the finish line. "You sure?" Stepping into the boat sees in sink from the weight a fair few inches. Vulcan whines, wood boat on lake of water bad for fire familiar. "Just hang out here, I'll be back in an hour or two." And with that they were off, listing through the waters with a set goal in mind. The first thought was an old movie the smith had watched. Straight out of Mortal Kombat. All that was missing was nightfall and a few lit torches.

    The architecture was obviously foreign, and as to what Griswold was a bit beside himself. Asian, but unsure which. "Are you here to watch or participate?" Takumi asks as he wades a bit more forcefully, Griswold's fat ass being a bit extra added girth. "Oh uh, watching. Little old to be swinging at children." The guy wasn't in his prime anymore, and knew that he'd probably get his ass handed to him by these whippersnappers. It proved to be a good show, however, matched with pleasantries and free food? Although likely it would be equally foreign cuisine, and silently, Griswold hoped it wasn't weird or raw or something else funky.

    Sliding upon another dock, and Griswold steps out making the boat shift abruptly. Takumi wiggles a bit before it stabilizes, and he hops out, almost finding himself into the lake. "Phew, head through those doors." gesturing with an outstretched finger. Griswold taps him in the small of his back with an open palm "Good on you boy, here." Offering the lad a small figurine crab, one of aluminum casting. Pretty well-made and as good as any payment. Up to a paper screen door and clutching it with the tiniest pinch, he felt like he was going to break it otherwise. Gingerly, he slides it open slowly, being bombarded by sunlight hitting a polished hardwood floor.

    "I, uh, Hi." he chokes out to a room filled with strangers, not recognizing a single one of them. What am I even doing?

  24. Within arms reach and hearing the same outline, a bit of that thought scratching at the back of his head. Into his right front pocket, using the physical gesture to peel items out from his digital inventory. He had his own pile of these things that were collecting a fair bit of space. "These?" Griswold remarked before the girl like a falcon, Kuni scoops them out of his outstretched palm. Oni chuckles and sweeps his hand over the tarp for Griswold to choose from what was on its surface. Grabbing the first that spoke to him, a strange blackish stone with an inscribed orange rune he couldn't understand. "I'll take this one." Griswold spoke as he plucked it between an index and a thumb. With it entering his hands, the rest of the objects vanished. Transaction complete, just like that. His vision scans immediately to his daughters, unsure how to process the exchange. Maybe this was good? Maybe it wasn't. A shrug as he shoves that object into his pocket, unsure what it meant.

  25. Shocked, in a bit of a stupor, recognizing the woman but fully able to place where. He found himself staring once Eruda says something break him out of it. "Huh, yeah. I guess I am just tired, is all. Dream?" He started to think back, trying to sort out the fog. It probably just the time of day, normally he laid down much earlier than this. The beauty of being an old man, early rise and early fall. It seemed as though his daughter and this woman were friends or something, that was alright by him. The smith couldn't really command that she hang out with her old man before friends her age. His gaze kinda fixates for a moment, an eyebrow perking up. Was this gal really her age though, it wasn't often you'd see someone grayed with a face that young. Either she aged extremely well, or maybe it was dyed that way.

    But wait, didn't the game kinda reset everyone to factory appearance. That would mean that had to be her original hair color. A whole wave of questions with no answers, as Griswold shakes his head back and forth. "I'm Griswold." Yep that wasn't awkward, what a total dad way of introducing himself. Great, now he'd embarrass his daughter with the first friend she'd ever shown him outside the guild. That was just perfect. "I mean, I'm her dad." Not any better "I'm going to shut up now." Success, acknowledge the foot and try and spit it out.
