[BR-F27] Paving the Way to Floor 28

Recommended Posts

karin-wittig-dragon-cave-wip4.jpg?158972

The cavern was as silent as a grave.

The brave guardian, felled in battle, remained propped in front of the boss room door.

Nothing moved.

The boss fight will not begin until the room has been accessed.
Once the correct action has been taken, the preparation phase will begin.
At that point, Players will have approximately 72 hours to make their final preparations.
Players may also post their preparations now, and speak/act freely until the door is opened.

Word of the date the raid party would be undergoing to challenge of clearing the Floor Boss and advancing the player-base, as a whole, one floor closer to the top of Aincrad always seemed to spread like wildfire. Whether its others noticing the sudden influx of powerful looking players stocking up on various consumables, or word of the day being passed on to info brokers, being carried throughout their web of informants until it became a common knowledge. Either way, without any words being shared, the atmosphere of almost all the floors changes. While most NPC's would go about their daily lives, the other players were quieter, almost silent. Whether it was the eerie silence of a graveyard, or a vibrating excitement, it was never made apparent.

Either way, Jomei didn't like the feeling.

Having been a near constant on the frontlines for possibly a dozen floors, he was starting to become recognized as one of the raid team members. On any other day, he would be seen as the average-joe, just trying to live his life like everyone else. But between the time the masses learn of the labyrinth boss' defeat, and they learn of the exact date the frontliners would take on the floor boss, he could feel eyes on him. It was a shame the long, black coat with a green lining that he wore in combat didn't have a concealing hood like his usual town cloak. Either way, he couldn't let the thought of others eyes glancing at him as he passed down the street get to him, his focus needed to be entirely on the fight to come.

---

The only time he had been on the Twenty-Seventh floor was when he and Lessa set off to take the Mysterious Divide questline, the same one NIGHT mentioned gave out a series of 'Words of Power' as rewards. While he had planned that they make a fun time out of exploring the whole floor and the secrets it held, all within a few days, shutting out the stresses of the rest of Aincrad.. the sudden oncoming of the raid team meeting put that on hold.

Following the directions provided by NIGHT, Jomei made his way through the labyrinth until he stumbled upon an open cavern. Hardly any light made its way to these depths, but just enough that he could see where he was going. Silence. That was a first.. he must have been early. Though, he had hoped he could get here before most other people, so he could take a better look at what remained of the stone guardian and the message its body held. Standing before the large boulder of a torso, the ginger would gently run his fingers along the carved out sections, following each of the arrows as they lead to another element. "..What are you trying to tell us..?" He pondered on each of the phrases.. as much as he could remember at least.. as he slowly circled the diagram.

so she would be the second to arrive. that was fine, although surprising, but she hadn't assumed anyone else from the meeting to have wanted to be here early. night figured the others had better preparations to make.

she would've waved jomei down, but thought it better to set up the picnic, first. from behind him, she brought out a foldable table, enough to present the the different types of feasts she'd brought along from demian, alongside bistro's lot of balm – just in case anyone thought it was a sound preparation to make. then there was her own stock of liquors of light, and eventually night lost track of what there was left that others might've wanted to take.

the tanks could fend for themselves, presumably. night knew she was going to do so of her own accord.

strolling up to the early bird, night peered at what was left of the golem. all she figured of it was a mystery. in a poor attempt of her suspicions, the player pulled out jack's executioner and swung against the obstacle. nothing seemed to have changed, and neither would she be reticent about scaring her companion, if only because it would be funny to see his reaction; she would've laughed.

The armor he'd donned for the event was bulkier than he imagined.

It was every bit as protective in feeling as it was purported to be in statistic, but it felt foreign to him. Heavier. Sluggish. He was used to nearly dancing across a Battlefield, rather than sitting in harm's way and taking the brunt of enemy aggression. It was to be a new sensation for him, after nearly dying to the ire of a boss many Moons before, to face one down in earnest.

But he had not come unprepared. Alkor took one look at the spread that had been prepared for the raid and went through to make sure all the boxes were ticked. A Peking Duck Tray and a Peking Duck Skin Platter, for bolstered defenses. He made sure to say his thanks before optimizing, then promptly turned his attention to the mystery that seemed to be baffling Jomei and NIGHT.

"Arrows," he mused, looking in the same direction Jomei had before him. "Could be the element cycle, transmutation and all that," he observed. "We got any way of making this thing turn from stone into some other element? Or maybe even a way to expose it to other elements?"

He knew the suggestion didn't really seem helpful, since there was no earthly way for them to move the massive monument, but maybe someone else would have a better idea.

Nari took a breath as she stood outside the entrance to what would become the hardest challenge she'd encountered in the world of Aincrad thus far. She wasn't sure if what she was feeling was excitement, nerves, or a combination of both, but as she focused her thoughts inwards, she knew there was only one thing to do. Take the first step, so that those which follow may be guided by that which began it all. It far from settled her emotions, but the thought allowed her to step into the area where three others had already begun to gather.

She smiled and tossed a wave towards Jomei, upon spotting the Ginger Bladedancer. Another man - equipped with armour that looked heavier than Nari's own pieces - stood off to the side, looking awkward in the piece that he clearly hadn't become adjusted to. She gave him a small nod as well, acknowledging what was clearly going to be another one of their tanks. I'll keep an eye on that one, just in case...I'm no expert, but...he doesn't look entirely used to the role, and maybe I can offer some guidance if the chance comes up. If it keeps us all alive, I'll- Her thoughts stopped as she spotted the third individual, and she felt a chill pass down her spine.

Of course she'd be here. She unlocked everything to begin with, why wouldn't she be here? If anything, she'd be the first one here. Why are you freaking out about this? You'e spent time with her again, it's not like you haven't overcome...whatever was there. Just...act normal...don't make a scene. She had passed a table set out with snacks and other foods upon it, absentmindedly picking up a collection as she moved to stand beside Jomei and NIGHT, considering the rock work in front of them."It's...different than I expected. It's nice to see you, Jomei. NIGHT. It kinda makes you feel, emotions...in a way."

She'd been staring at the blockage as she spoke, but something about her commentary made her feel the need to correct herself - her voice taking on a hurried pitch as she quickly threw out a response to herself. "I mean the whole raid coming up, not like any lingering feelings between certain people, or like outstanding frustrations or...uh...how about I just, go check out the rock..."

"Dust to dust...ashes to ashes...Words of Power spoken thus, open thyself..." For reasons beyond her, the poem came back into her mind, something she had heard many years ago. It had been bothering her since the raid meeting, when there had been the conversation about the Words of Power and their impact on the overall situation. She'd been wondering what their meaning was, and whether they had any specific purpose in the current situation. She threw a quick glance back towards NIGHT and Jomei, before stepping up to the rock itself.

Placing her hand upon the surface, she traced a pattern which seemed to follow the diagram above the door itself, her eyes staring at the images as her hand continued to move in circles, stopping at each point to trace what could almost be seen as the pictures that were depicted. She spoke softly as she traced, listing the names that had come to mind throughout all the information she had received, wondering if she was wasting her time but having no further ideas to the entire situation.

"Dagan...Srona...Ordsea...Braso...Ronbaru...All things become dust, to be accepted into the earth, and born again...the smallest raindrops nurture the tallest trees...learn from the summer heat, for even when the fire claims the forest, the trees grow back stronger...ore in the ground is precious, but it is useless without heat and hard work...when the war is done and the blades go cold, let the rain they gather cleanse a broken world...Earth, wood, fire, metal, water...at it's centre may you find the peace that lives within, a balance to all things come from nature, returned to whence they originated..."

NIGHT regarded Nari with little emotion. In the sense that her appearance hadn't changed her demeanor any, and likewise, the woman gave the other a short quip as a greeting. And when Nari commented, NIGHT turned to the rock before them. Making them feel emotions?

"huh?" she tilted her head. "nari... are you okay?"

watching nari approach the boulder and speak to it, night couldn't help but sink deeper into her equipment. what? had she gone lunatic after seeing the remnants of a guardian? she'd heard about tree huggers, but not for stone. and the whispering was almost cult-like. and the order...

the order? night eyed the diagram above them with her arms folded after waving away her sword. a stray finger traced out the pattern. "shouldn't it be dagan, braso, ronbaru, srona, and then ordsea?"

if she approached to place her hand on the rock, it was in doubt of what nari was doing -- but at least she wasn't going to look like a fool for doing it alone. night glanced at the diagram, too, trying to recall the colours of the crystals. were they important? she hadn't exactly broken the core during the fight. if anything, she simply kept thinking aloud, as though trying to hear herself rather than nari. "yellow, blue, white, green... red?"

but that didn't feel right. night leaned against the boulder again, considering. was the order important? her mind was skipping a few steps, considering the strange order that nari had used earlier. what? why?

"yellow, green... white, red, blue...?"

and she had to stop again just to consider what nari was doing. so she turned her head, in a familiar scowl. "hey, what are you reciting, anyway? it's not like the rock's going to hear you."

Since he was nowhere near the ability to work through this area on his own, he would have probably waited for @Freyd and / or @Crozeph to help him along the way.  He still lamented that he couldn't just walk the paths himself, but his search wasn't much help through their last venture through the area.  They would be his guide,  instead of the other way around.

"Ronbaru? Dagan? Srona? Ordsea? Braso?  Am I missing something or do we fancy talking politics to rocks?"

It would be the first thing that the hunter has said to a few of them for a while, but it was reasonable to assume what was going on.  With the Boss Raid Meeting, he felt that he should look into something else.  Something a bit more personal, but things didn't turn out as he thought.  Instead, he talked with Freyd as they had messaged him for the hunter's thoughts on the matter.  To be fair, he was thinking more about the healing aspects, but that was obviously not what was needed.  He thought that something would help, but not everything is required.

"I'll leave the puzzle for you guys.  I'll just warm up these hands real quick."

The full plate wearing healer stepped aside to let someone else do their magic.  He would listen and maybe find something to do after the fact.  With this though, NIGHT seemed to have proposed some foods and salves to protect the lot.  Hirru would be glad to partake as NIGHT was proving to be an excellent raid leader and provider.  If only there was more that he could do.

For days, anxiety controlled him. He could not eat, he could not sleep. A cruel combination of restlessness and fatigue claimed him during both waking and resting hours. His peers remained kind towards him, offering buffs and training and items. It did little to ease his fear of that which was to come. Even so, he marched through the labyrinth alone, a false confidence plastered on his nervous face.

Two necklaces hung from his neck: one, a gift and the other, a vanity recreation of his previous trinket. They dangled there, two different shades of blue tapping against his silver armor. His cape trailed along behind him, coming close but not quite touching the stone floor.

When Morningstar found the room that should have led to the raid boss, he stopped. Five others had arrived before him, unsurprisingly. They were familiar faces, for the most part, and it seemed they had already begun their attempts to shift the golem. He listened as Nari spoke aloud to the semi-defeated rock and for a moment, he expected it to stand up and move out of the way.

Nothing stirred.

Through the silence, NIGHT questioned Nari. Morningstar contemplated the speech for a moment, neglecting to announce himself to the group. The cycle above the golem was the same as the one produced at the meeting. Wuxing, he recalled. He summoned Bistro's card to his hand, the so-called words of power scribbled onto it. What Nari had said to the unmovable object matched what was written on the card, for the most part.

"Can I give it a try?" Morningstar stepped up to the golem and similarly to the others, he took a long look at the diagram.

He glanced back at the words of power. She had followed the order of the card to a T. He rearranged it in his head, piecing the words together so they matched the five elements that sat idly above them. He cleared his throat. He thought it went something like...

"All things become dust, to be accepted into the earth, and born again. Ore in the ground is precious, but it is useless without heat and hard work. When the war is done and the blades go cold, let the rain they gather cleanse a broken world. The smallest raindrops nurture the tallest trees. Learn from the summer heat, for even when the fire claims the forest, the trees grow back stronger?"

The way he said it made it sound almost like a question. He glanced over to NIGHT and then back at the golem, awkwardly awaiting even the slightest movement from the boss room's guardian.

huh? of course night would've let anyone give tearing down the boulder a shot. it just seemed strange how everyone seemed to be reciting the lines of the poem. night eyed the two players -- granted, she trusted them both, but she was still hesitant to wax poetry about this.

"sorry, what do you even see in them...?" she pulled out her own copy of bistro's handout, studying the letters on the card. "is reading these lines aloud really going to remove the rock in our way? it doesn't have ears. i'm really not seeing it..."

still, she sighed, and tried again.

"ore in the ground is precious, but it is useless without heat and hard work. when the war is done and the blades go cold, let the rain they gather cleanse a broken world. the smallest raindrops nurture the tallest trees. learn from the summer heat, for even when the fire claims the forest, the trees grow back stronger. all things become dust, to be accepted into the earth, and born again."

she blinked twice, flipping the card over to nothing but a blank side, before becoming annoyed and striking the rock lightly. maybe it was the crystal thing instead. it felt like it should be. maybe she was giving the whole thing more thought than it really deserved.

Listening to them go on and on in this circle that they have been spouting, the hunter was starting to understand.  Those phrases must mean something, if that's what they were going for.  Hirru didn't really think that was gonna work, but he would hear them out as they went.  Nari, NIGHT and that Morningstar guy all tried so far.  The hunter said that he wasn't going to join in, but there was something odd about what they were talking about.  Wouldn't the broken world be at the end, where a world would be cleansed anew?  He didn't know what else there was, but the order that the last two were talking about were something odd.  Didn't Freyd say something about an order?  It was then that the hunter would look at the slightly hidden diagram on the door.

"Oh.. is that what that was?"

He would say under his breath before thinking aloud.

"The smallest raindrops nurture the tallest trees.  Learn from the summer heat, for even when the fire claims the forest, the trees grow back stronger.  All things become dust, to be accepted into the earth, and born again.  Ore in the ground is precious, but it is useless without heat and hard work.  When the war is over and the blades go cold, let the rain they gather cleanse a broken world."

The cavern falls into silence once more as the last of the words of power, shared by the various city leaders, leaves Hirru’s lips. A moment passes, the anxiety of another incorrect attempt to clear the silent body of Stoneheart out of the way.

A thin layer of fog begins to rise from the cracks in the surface, creating a stagnant pool of mist that gathered at the Players’ feet. Slowly, it begins to swirl and flow in the direction of the felled labyrinth boss. As it passes through and around the stone golem, one could almost swear they heard faint, overlapping whispers in a language unknown to the common ear.

The circular diagram that sat above the blocked door to the boss room slowly began to come to life:

The symbol for wood, representing Srona, illuminates green.

The symbol for fire – Ordsea – takes on a fiery red glow.

The engraving that represented earth, the settlement of Dagan, begins to glow yellow.

The sword, crafted of metal, akin to those the soldiers of Braso carry, takes on a silvery white.

Finally, the droplet of water, the center of it all – Ronbaru – ignites in blue.

The craggy form of Stoneheart begins to rumble, before slowly returning to its full height, as NIGHT had found them in wait originally. However, their original, volatile mood has shifted. An overwhelming feeling of despair, and regret that it had failed its duty. To keep others from entering? Or to keep whatever lies within from getting out? Each of Stoneheart’s slow steps causes the ground to shake, and though they can not see it clearly, the Players can definitely feel the sorrow emanating off of the stone guardian. It is almost contagious.

The door to the floor boss is no longer blocked, and before any Player can step forth to open the door, it swings outward forcibly, crashing into the sides of the cavern before coming to rest.

As the brave Frontliners emerge through the open doorway, they bear witness to the immeasurable cavern system before them. Somehow taller than seemingly possible, the tips of stalactites are barely visible many stories above them, if not crafted entirely from the illuminating crystals that littered the floors entirety. A menagerie of blues, yellows, greens, whites, and reds, all blending together to brighten the floor to a point where it is like standing in direct sunlight, though disorienting… maybe it is too bright.

Guidelines
- Players will have until 11:59 PM EDT on AUGUST 6th to post their stats.
- Players are allowed to use 5 crafted consumables for the battle and any amount of consumables from Quests or Field Bosses (Consumables that expressly note they are ineligible for floor bosses and raids remain unusable.)
- The traditional strike rule is in place for this fight. After missing 3 posts, the Player is removed from the fight and forfeits all rewards from the thread.
- Once the battle starts, players have approximately 72 hours for each rotation to take their turn.
- To join the battle, players are required to create their own stat block. They can do this manually or using Raidou's Spreadsheet.
Example:   Hidden | HP: 780/780 | EN: 96/96 | DMG: 24 | MIT: 20 | EVA: 4 | ACC: 4 | BH: 42 | LD: 1 | HLY: 16 | PHASE | REC: 8 | V.D.: 42 | V.O.: 85
- Players will post all math for their own characters including: Healing (even passive), Energy use and recovery, and Damage. This REALLY helps staff out when crunching numbers, and checking that everything is working as intended.
- This boss fight, each party will have their own thread. This allows staff to more efficiently divide up the work. In character, everyone is fighting together - you’re still welcome to talk with Players in other parties. Rewards will be issued as if the posts all belonged to a single thread.
- When your party lineup is finalized, please let staff know (tagging us on Discord works fine).
- All questions should be directed to the #askastaff channel in Discord, or Lessa directly.

She felt a rumble, like the whole floor was shaking beneath her legs. 'guess I'm not that late yet' she thought, seeing several players from the previous raid meeting. It looked like they managed to clear the obstacle in one way or another. Even though that same 'obstacle' was walking on its own two feet once more. She swallowed the digital saliva with an audible *gulp* hoping they wouldn't have to face it once more. So far it seemed to ignore them and do its own thing. The rest of the raiding party didn't seem too affected by this, which eased her mind a bit.

She had munched on some leftover supplies before coming here but couldn't help but notice the feasts present before the boss room. She drew closer and with a humble. 'Itadakimasu!' towards @NIGHT she then took a small bite of the ones she though would aid here in the coming fight.
(maybe more text later, posting stats for now)

1867158982_EloraT2Armor.thumb.jpg.275fccf478275c5ba78fabc15f8d69fc.jpg"Damn, it's dark in here!", stated Elora as she gawked at the slippery stalagmites and shimmering gemstones, "I mean, people said this floor was all dark, but I didn't know it'd be like -- advanced darkness." Stumbling over her own two feet served as a good reminder to reorient her attention to the skirmish at hand. So, this is a floor boss., she regarded, designating the moment with isolated sentimentality. Lots of people have died fighting these. Lots of people have died fighting a lot of things. People have died from not fighting things -- either way, this seems like a bit deal. Turning her head, she made an effort to inspect the faces of those around her. It was difficult to surmise what each of them were thinking. Tense., was the only feeling that seemed to tether them all together. It surprised her. Weren't Frontlines supposed to be more confident, more sure of themselves? At least, that's what she'd gathered from seeing them socialize across different floors of Aincrad. The atmosphere added an undeniable amount of uneasiness to the whole ordeal. She searched for an opportunity to shake it off.

"Hey, Kat!", she jested with a playful elbow, "Don't look so worried, we're gonna do great!" A reassuring smile suppressed the anxiety that had begun to swirl inside her stomach. "We're strong enough to take out trebuchets and baby dragons --", somehow, the later hadn't seemed so encouraging, "And besides, we've got people like Freyd here to help us kick some serious ass!" Elora gave a resolutory nod at that.

Before the party had reached their destination, a sizeable rumble seemed to rattle through the cavern. Did they seriously already overcome the puzzle? Turning a series of corners soon placed them in the company of the other players. In their midst lay a stone whatcha'ma callit, plastered against the opposing floor. "Well --", she began and ended there with an impressed whistle.

yato___noragami_by_jennux3_d7cqugc-fullview.thumb.jpg.d5173ad6c746e549c5362068df6929e3.jpgStrolling into the strangely lit cavern, Freyd looked completely underdressed for the occasion, wearing little more than a black leather breastplate and typically spoopy black gear.  He didn't even carry an obvious weapon, though both hands were tucked away in a pair of pockets.  For those at the planning meeting, it might have been fair to ask whether he'd forgotten his commitment to tank during this particular affair.

Pursed lips narrowed as he glanced over the displaced golem, it's mystery having already been solved, his curiosity having been piqued by various oddities of its origins and purpose.

"Hey @Hirru," he said, greeting his old companion with oddly out of place calm.  Most of the frontliners seemed nervous.  Maybe he was just getting old.  "Did you do this?  If so, nicely done."  A furrowed brow and glance back at the entrance to the actual boss room got his marbles spinning.  "Doesn't it seem a bit odd that this thing was though to have been protecting against both directions, yet was beaten by a single player?"

You're overthinking again, just like with the clues.  The mental reminder was enough to push the question aside.  The Whisper merely shrugged and kept on walking.

"Don't forget your buffs, please.  I'm going to need you keeping me alive when stuff hits the proverbial fan."  Freyd knew Hirru was a good egg, and had no qualms about relying on his prowess as a healer.  A sweep of his hands summoned a diverse spread for himself and others.  A quick wave called @Morningstar, @Elora and @Katokaover for the same.  Some extra was also provided in case any others showed up to fill their ranks, and bellies alike.  Though it had put a dent in his larder to pull everything together, this was no time to be chintzy.

"@Nari-Lanreth," he hollered across the room.  "I brought you some goodies.  Come get them!"

"The gear looks good on you, Morningstar.  I hope it will come in handy." Quick glances at the others saw telltale signs of past and recent efforts come to fruition.  More importantly, and strange in its sudden impact, he saw friends gathered for common purpose.

Many familiar faces were conspicuously missing: Shield, Baldur, Raidou, Freya and so many others from Firm Anima.  All he could do was hope that they were okay.  Today's goal was simple: defending the people gathered in his room.  Reflexively flexing the long slender fingers on both hands, he silently hoped that he could live up to the standard set by his predecessors.

This was it. The time was finally here.

Katoka walked into the cave where the rest of the raid members had already gathered, her hand rested on the hilt of her sword in an attempt to reassure her that everything was fine. She had boasted a lot recently that she was ready to make her debut on the frontlines, and she had meant it. That hadn't stopped her nerves from getting the best of her. It was taking everything she had to keep her hands from violently trembling, instead there was only a slight tremor visible.

Stopping off to the side from the majority of the people the samurai took in the sights as best she could. It had looked like the door had been opened before she arrived, this gave her great relief. She was not known for her puzzle solving skills after all. It looked like most of the people here had their own cliques and such, they were already congregating in them. It made sense, when you fight alongside people for as long as they had it only made sense that they flocked to one another.

"Hey, Kat! Don't look so worried, we're gonna do great!" Elora had snuck up on her while she was lost in thought, giving her a playful elbow in her side. Kat turned quickly to her elven friend and felt her hands begin to steady a bit more. She smiled warmly, "Yes. Yes we are." and with those words she meant it. She clenched her right fist and took a deep breath, holding it in for a few seconds and let it out, her anxieties slowly leaving her body. "Thanks for that Elora, I really needed it."

Hearing Freyd's familiar voice call out to them was another relief in itself. Katoka motioned Elora to follow as she made her way over to him and his usual picnic of goodies that he brought along to feed to them. The blonde gave him a firm nod of thanks as she began eating the food, though she took her time so she could enjoy a nice meal with her friends before things got serious again.

"It's good that you all know each other" he thought as he ate the consumables Night had laid down for the players. It would be best if he kept interaction to a minimum. Sometimes he finds it hard to answer question from others who want to catch up. He has been drifting all over Aincrad with no purpose aside fromcro.thumb.png.e936cffcd49e0c3cd5144ce8f0ed8f17.png
keeping Night's Watch afloat and cleaning Mikoto no Souen. Still no chance of him meeting Yuki, "she's just really busy" is what Cro tells himself. He waved at @Hirru, a good companion but him and Crozeph won't be on the same team. "It's fine, all is well" he told himself. No sign of any Jacob's Ladder member aside from him and their allies.

weird

He continued with the consumption listening at Nari then Night as they seem to be discussing about the stones. @Freyd is there too, always looking ready to
fight in Crozeph's eyes. Quite a small party this time. Maybe smaller for his taste but no use complaining, not everyone is ready to risk their life. Crozeph may already seem like a denizen of Floor 10 and almost enough to rule his own ward inside Tartarus but Floor Boss battle can claim lives in a sudden turn.

no matter how ahead of the curve, a sudden turn is all it takes

Ereshkigal is strapped on his side, making faint humming sounds, as if it was excited to meet another of its kind even if the katana is simply a remnant of Shadow. "Tasty, I guess you can at least compete on my wife's coo-" he stopped himself from saying further to @NIGHT. Unnecessary, They're going to fight with their lives on the line. The fact that the thought looms over him makes Cro remember her. He bit his lip and took one huge bite out of the duck "of course, I'll go home in one piece for her" he muttered, still chewing the food.

The stones lit up, now the fun begins. They just have to figure out who's gonna be on the fun side. Cro's dead stare was fixated on the glow "well it's too early for Christmas but I like the spirit" he said. Erehskigal's humming was starting to get louder and Crozeph quickly gripped her hilt "soon, have patience."

Taking a step back, his eyes continued to follow the oroborous-like symbol of each element leading into the next. Out of the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of another figure approaching. With a quick look over his shoulder to NIGHT, he returned the wave and a small smile, though his focus truly remained on the blockage before them. He wanted to figure this out.. he felt as though the solution was on the tip of his tongue.. but-

Clang

The sound of metal crashing into the stone surface of the fallen golem shocked him back to reality, and his focus went to the blade in NIGHT's hand as it vibrated, before coming to rest. "Could've given me a warning first." he said with an exasperated chuckle. NIGHT laughed along too.. was that the first time he saw her laugh? It was nice.. needed even. Just a quick joke to get them both laughing, to put their minds a bit at ease before the big fight.

Back in the moment, Jomei saw that a table had been set up with various food items and potions. Of course, the one thing he always forgot to bring, but could always depend on his comrades to keep him in check. "Thanks for setting this up." he'd say as he began to walk over to the table, "I've definitely got to start pulling my weight in the consumable game.. Maybe by the next floor boss."

A few moments passed, as the ginger took the time to house down as much of the food as he could (Luckily Cardinal wasn't forcing him to eat an entire meal just to feel the effects of the food items). As he popped the cork of a damage potion to wash it all down, he felt the ground beneath his feet rumble. Turning to look towards the door, he watched as the stone guardian - the same one NIGHT had supposedly defeated - stand up, and walk out of the way.

Though hard to read, one look at the stony expression on the golem's face.. and the ginger felt a pit in his stomach. All of a sudden he felt.. sad? Shouldn't they be happy that they had solved the riddle and opened the door? His eyes trailed off for a moment, before he rose the potion bottle to his lips and downed the liquid. Stepping from the table, he would join @Nari-Lanreth, and any other present members of their team, as they walked through the door.  "By the way, I didn't get a chance to say.." Jomei would say as he fell into step with his friend, "I like the new hair." he'd say with a smile. After a moment, he would follow up. "You ready for this? I've got your back if you need me."

Maybe NIGHT's skepticism was correct, maybe the words of power had nothing to do with this portion of the raid. Morningstar almost wanted to follow in her footsteps and strike at the rock, although he knew it would do no good. He heard the footsteps and voices of a few others approaching from their flank and almost turned to greet them.

Then, it shifted. Hirru, whether by accident or not, had chosen the order of words that the rest of them could not quite grasp. He patted the fellow on the back, glad that they had not been speaking to a rock for no reason. That was that; the puzzle had been solved. He moved on to the food-covered table to prepare for part two, thanking NIGHT in the process.

For the most part, the people who funneled in were strangers to him. Some, he had seen during the raid meeting. Others, he was not sure. The faces of Freyd and Katoka were memorable, at the very least. He waved, glad to see teammates in the crowd. Approaching, he smiled. Freyd had prepared a pre-game of sorts for their team.

"Thanks, @Freyd," he replied to the swordsman's comment, his hand falling to the hilt of his blade, "it's a step up from what I was using before, as much as I liked my old sword."

His gaze swapped between those who had been called over. There was room for a sixth team member but no one around to fill it. He was curious: would any stragglers show up? With little time before they entered the boss room and the fight began, he was not hopeful.

Surely, they would be okay with only five.

The collection of individuals was growing larger and larger as other members of the frontlines began to appear. Nari nodded at a few - happy to see some familiar faces, even if she'd only just met a few of them. She'd taken her shot at trying to figure out the puzzle, but had stepped back as NIGHT and others began their own attempts. She had watched, curious to see how those with more experience handled the puzzle and it's intricate patterns, as the others stepped forward and followed her approach to a degree.

The rumbling that followed Hirru's words, left Nari feeling a slight bump in her chest. We did it? We did it! Oh, wow...we uh... She could feel her pulse pick up for a few seconds, before settling itself and levelling out. She watched as the rubble pulled itself back into a standing position. Oh, that's not good. That's not- Nari had pulled herself into a fighting stance without a second thought, her hand rising to flick open her menu and call forth her weapon.

Before she had any need to draw it, however, the creature had begun to step away - leaving their pathway open. Her hand dropped from the air, tapping her thigh softly as she turned to look at the others. More had arrived in the few sparse minutes following the opening, and Nari found herself staring at a much larger group.

"Thanks." She smiled at @Jomei as the man paid her a compliment, her eyes still looking over the group. Her attention shifted to him when he questioned her, and Nari found her smile disappearing, her expression taking on a far more serious one. "I don't think I could ever be truly ready. But I'm here anyways...we're all here, so let's make the most of it, right?"

She gave a nod and a quick thanks to @Freyd as the man called out to her, making a note to head over in a moment once she had said her piece. Glancing around at those still filing in, she took a deep breath before raising her arm and calling out to the group. "Alright! We're slowly getting there; the way is open and we're almost ready to head in. I...probably shouldn't be the one giving big speeches, as it's my first time here...but everyone make sure to stay safe. We can't make any mistakes. We owe it to all those who aren't here today, to do this right. Take anything that will give you an edge, prepare yourself - as much as you can - mentally, and once everyone is ready, we'll head in. Divide into your teams, like we discussed, and...good luck, to everyone. I'll see you on the other side, one day."

Koga was running late. An unusual occurrence but, a worthwhile one this time. Who knew if he'd see Kasumi again after today? Might as well enjoy the time he'd been allotted before it was lost. Nonetheless, after spending a little too much time eating breakfast, the man had set out, Okami at his side as usual, before finally arriving in the boss' antechamber, just in time to witness the great Stoneheart forlornly abandon its post, and the great doors slam open. "Guess I made it just in time, huh?" Koga said as soon as he found his party. Thankfully he knew almost every single person there, save one ( @Zandra ). "Koga," the swordsman offered a hand towards the one unknown. "And this is Okami." The wolf sneezed. Koga sighed at the wolf before nodding at the other in turn. NIGHT, Crozeph, Alkor. More or less permanent fixtures in his life at this point. Maybe they'd be there for the end of it too.

"Thanks," Koga said to NIGHT as he took a decanter of light from her, downing it, and few other pieces of food, stuffing them into his already overfull belly. Oh, he was probably going to regret this later. "We all set to go?" he asked those present.
