  2. A small giggle bubbled forth from Mari’s lips as the salt and peppered man approached, skidding down next to her in the snow. The womans form was partially hidden, covered by the powered ice. “You can’t stop this.” The voice was cold, low and almost melodious. It would have almost been enchanting with the way it practically sang the words, if they weren’t laced with an underlining vitterol. More black bile bubbled up over Mari’s lips. The voices rose in Mari’s unconscious mind, drowning out the sound of Freyd’s frantic shouting. You’re free, you’re so free right now - you c

  10. The moment the sword art timer cleared, Baldur moved with the practiced precision of someone who drilled this every day. He was always ready, always prepared with the next move. Something that only came from relentless drilling, endless practice, not just to execute, but to execute perfectly. Unlike most people trapped in Aincrad, Baldur had trained with the sword he wielded outside of the game. The techniques didn't translate over well, sword arts were superhuman and much more powerful than merely swinging a sword. It was more math here than muscle, but the training translated over perfectly.
  11. Midnight in Ilridge. Less a town than a fortified camp, its hollow ruins remained little more than the frontlines' vanguard outpost and toe hold on a floor seemingly designed to devour their sanity. Worse yet were the irreplaceable losses, compounded by constant grievous injuries. Too many players were rushing in overconfident and unprepared, returning mauled to within a sliver of total deletion. They had scouts enough. What they lacked were healers. Confronted with a need, Freyd did what he always did: he adapted. Skulking about in heavy armor was a waste of effort anyway, even if the ski
  12. Mari almost went to rub Acanthus on the back, but as soon as she lifted her hand, she was reminded of moments before, the awkwardness the two had only just endured. Despite being a closed off person, Mari’s love language was touch, being in close proximity to the person. It showed how she cared. But not everyone was comfortable with that. Instead Mari just snorted softly into her empty cup. “Yeh.” She said, almost amused. “I suppose I can’t just drop a bomb like ‘aht without explainin’ a few things, eh?” Mari was about to explain things, but then the brunette laughed, her speech slur
  13. Elora’s tongue-lashing, through predicted, cut like the barbs of a devil’s nine-tailed whip. It was enough to see Freyd brace himself against the counter to endure it, palms spread out wide as if to distribute the withering scold. Eyes closed, he tried not to wince, knowing he’d earned what he was getting, regardless of best intentions. It still hurt. Breathes seething through clenched teeth, he heard her shuffling about, his own attention still solemnly focused on the sensation unjudging cabinetry upon which he had let his head rest. He’d done so many worse things deserving of scorn,
  14. A swing and a miss. Kat smiled and took another sip of her drink. "A quest to be able to get drunk huh? Sounds like I need to get on that." Hearing that Mari had been in prison cause the samurai to arch a brow. Baldur was never one to keep bad company, so anyone that he was friends with or had been in the same guild with was sure to be on the up and up. Instead she gave the woman a sly smirk, "I'm sure you had your reasons. I'm not one to judge someone I just met after all." Katoka found her eyes wander a bit, looking over Mari in her blue kimono. A bead of sweat rolled down her

Rencesvals provides to Freyd: Memento Mori | T4 Demonic Weapon (Katana) | AA | Freeze I | Holy II Fusion ID: 246830 An ethereal blade forged from shattered celestial fragments left behind by Persistence's noble sacrifice, the katana barely seems to exist, like an echo of something that was and yet refuses oblivion's draw. Its shimmering ghostly surface bears a hint of reflexively blinking blue haze, forming and melting into ice crystals clinging to condensation's precipice. Bleeding along the foggy edge, it is as if Fate herself were shedding tears and mourning her departure, trapping

  18. "It's almost done! We'll be back to base in no time!" He would shout out as the art would finally end, allowing the hunter to move once more. Though it is a rough art, it does help him sit by and concentrate on what needs to be done next, without having to wonder how he will get by. Though, it just meant that he did have to take any damage that would come to him, as the hound was trying for him several times now. Thankfully, Baldur's last action took the creatures attention away from him while he was stuck in place. The rough part was watching both Jomei and Baldur taking constant bu
  19. Firefly took a moment to absorb Pollux's words. Having a pet was completely new to the blind woman and she was somewhat surprised that she was doing as good as she was up to this point. Myst moved to aid her confidence which brought Firefly some comfort. "Yeah... This is very nice. I've never had pets before because my mother is allergic to most of them." The girl reached down and grabbed her little kitty, coddling her in her arms. The cat purred in response. "A toy?" She looks down at the cat and noticing an item missing from her belt. "Oh, I dropped my Witch Light! That's important. Mys

  21. Morbianus came charging out of the gate, from a different point that the others had. He never paused for the announcer to shout: "Fight!" but it was all set dressing. A seamlessly integrated cutscene. He had seen the like of it in non-VRMMORPGs before. However, without the perspective shift, it was a little too seamless and Baldur wasn't not shaken. Morbianus crossed the threshold of range that Baldur was acutely aware of. He had spent a lot of years before SAO as a tank, and one of the things you learn to get a feel of is the exact range distance required to draw aggro or activate your abilit
  22. Baldur drove his katana down into Lesbianus, and their HP dropped down to 1 again. He swiped his sword before sheathing it. After this next one, he should be able to fight something challenging. He had heard the champion of the stadium could be quite dangerous, but Baldur wasn't a thrill seeker. Still, fighting something that at least fought back would be nice. It was so rare these days. Thankfully Baldur had his dojo to keep his competitive edge, and teaching was far more satisfying than fighting. "And he wins again! Can anyone stop this player on a rampage!? Our next fighter will have t
  23. Sand and an arc of black and crimson light tore through the ground at Lesbianus, striking the gladiator with enough power and fury to knock him to the ground. Baldur walked slowly over to the stunned form while his sword arts recharged, his energy ticking up slightly. This was draining his batter and his energy proc wasn't going off as much as he would have liked, but it was what it was. "Sorry about this." He apologized to the stunned NPC. He never enjoyed this part of debilitating attacks on humanoid enemies, but at least it was pixels and strings of code instead of flesh and blood. Tha
