I've mostly stayed away from the LN so far so that I could enjoy it at my own pace whenever it came to anime or manga, though I know most of the beats so far.

But you gotta admit Alicization Arc beats previous arcs in SAO as Reki's writing style has improved significantly since the initial Aincrad Arc and I like the chemistry interactions between Kirito and Asuna in the Progressive series... so far (I'm at the middle of vol. 3)

I'm in the middle of volume 2 I think? Shortly after killing the spider queen and visiting the village again.

To me, however, it's been less about the quality of the characters or the storytelling and more about the setting.

Awesome is an understatement!  I loved every bit of it!

No spoilers here, but that first fight was so awesome to watch :) It was nice getting to see a full on boss fight, rather than just the bare snippits we got from the TV series.

I think it's only for certain quests though. There are some with larger team caps or others with no cap at all-

There are a handful with no caps, but I've been looking through a lot of them and there are very few that are actually good for a team.

To be fair, it is not well communicated that posts on another player's page will show up on the status updates. It does say "post a message to x's feed" when you go to write something. And realistically, they shouldn't show up as status updates. Is that a function that could be turned off by staff?

Not by staff no, perhaps by an Admin or a modification to the forum software.
