  1. "Eh...?" Seul glanced at the wall before turning his face to Mack again. He repeated this motion for what in reality had only been a couple of seconds but felt like an eternity. His face clouded over with doubt over the task at hand. But there were a few things that didn't quite seem to line up. For starters, he had already inspected the wall. If this truly was the quest's location why didn't a prompt for him to accept appear in his field of vision? Maybe extra skill quests had their own conditions for accepting aside from travelling to specific locations. Maybe if he just started it'd mean automatic acceptance. Yeah. That made sense. And on top of that, he had someone who already completed the quest there to point him the right direction. The thought that this player could've been lying hadn't even crossed his mind. Nobody in there right mind would go out of their way just to send him on a wild goose chase. With that settled he pushed away any further thoughts before approaching the wall.

"Martial arts, right...? This is gonna take a while." The boastful player he encountered earlier mentioned something about only being allowed to use his fists in order to damage the rock. Assuming that those rules still applied, Seul didn't even bother with drawing his weapon. In fact he doubted it would be any quicker if he did use his cheap dagger. The thing would barely scratch a boar's hide, let alone break through a couple of feet of stone. He let out a sigh before closing his eyes and winding his arm back and releasing it in a quick punch. Wait. What? Something was wrong. There was no health bar to indicate any damage and he knew for certain that his strike hadn't missed. Could he not have hit it hard enough? "Well, when in doubt... Punch your way out!" The famous last words seemed to lose the little credibility they held as his shower of fists began to rain down on the wall for what seemed like ages.

  2. To think a plan that was so simple actually worked. The young male was taken aback by the man that now stood before him. Attract mobs? At first glance, this guy could've easily passed for a monster himself! Just his size alone was intimidating enough but the most impressive part was how he was able to so effortlessly maneuver the axe he had equipped. After taking note of these things, Seul briefly turned his gaze toward the small dagger sheathed at his waist; thoughts of upgrading at some point bombarding his brain. It took a minute or two to bring his attention back to what Mack had said and he realized how weird it must've looked to be asked a question only to respond by spacing out.

"Oh... I'm actually eighteen. I figured, someone would be more likely to show up if I said that though." He shot the blacksmith a sheepish grin, hoping that  he at least somewhat possessed a sense of humor. Or mercy. "Anyway, there's this quest I heard about; it's supposed to be somewhere around here. Awards a skill for completing it. Ring any bells?" He was rummaging through his pockets while he spoke and after an extensive search process, produced a folded scrap of paper. Upon unfolding, it displayed a crudely drawn scene of a stick figure karate chopping a rock and a single speech bubble that read 'Hyaaaaah!'. "Looks like this!"

  3. "Huh...? Oh, I see-" His hand withdrew before moving to scratch the back of his neck gently and a sheepish grin gradually grew across his face. "Haha, good... A-Anyway, it's not like I could do anything about it if you did want them." It didn't take long for him to notice the large crowd that had now formed around the two boys. He could see that they were expecting a fight of some sort, some even went so far as to start placing bets. Just how many people put money down on him, he wondered. Maybe he could've convinced the person running it to split the profits with him! Wait. No. That was a terrible idea. The disparity in strength between himself and the player before him was obvious. Too obvious. The familiar resting on the male's shoulder was evidence enough.

"Alright everyone, show's over." The entire crowd stood with their feet firmly planted and shot off disappointing looks. Seul could feel his blood start to boil. "Am I speaking Yiddish?! I said scram! Beat it! Vamoose! You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here!" He yelled while flailing about. Most people just exchanged confused glances before departing seeing that their hopes at receiving some quick entertainment had been dashed. A soft sigh escaped his lips as he turned back to face the guy he got mixed up in all this. But just then, his eyes flashed with a brilliant plan taking hold of his thoughts. "Heeeeey, I just had a genius idea: Why don't we do a quest together? Yay, everyone's happy! I truly am the Einstein incarnate!" He exclaimed and started to gently pat himself on the back while murmuring under his breath in self worship.

  4. The second floor wasn't so bad. It had only been a few days since Seul arrived and he was already feeling confident enough in his skills to trek outside of towns. The sun sat high in the sky as a constant reminder that the young rogue had wasted most of his morning wandering down a simple, dirt path in the woods to the south. It had only been a few hours earlier when he overheard a player singing high self-praise in the town plaza for obtaining an extra skill as a reward for completing what they claimed was 'an insanely difficult quest that would make anyone else cry'. He had doubts about that last part, but the fact still remained that the skill did exist. The player provided the only lead he could find, so if he truly wished to one day fight alongside the higher raid groups it was worth a shot. He'd need all the strength he could get his hands on. In this game a person was only as strong as the skills they had; so the more skills one had at their disposal, the more versatile they could be. Who knows? Having an extra skill or two may even save his life one day.

Stupid luck had blessed him up to this point as he managed to reach the second floor at only level one and avoid any major conflicts along the way. However, the fortune streak that blessed him decided to come to an abrupt stop. Seul had hit a wall. No seriously. There was literally a wall blocking his path. The dirt road came to an end at the bottom of a tall cliff. "W-What...?" Was the only thing he could utter while placing his hands against the stone structure to check for a secret passage way of some sort. To no avail, it was just as solid as it seemed. He was out in the middle of who knows where with his mission at standstill. His sense of direction couldn't possibly have been that bad. How hard was it to find a stupid mountain?! He spent next few moments pondering what to do until a brilliant idea hit him: Call for help! Stepping up onto a tree stump, he cleared his throat.

"Help! S.O.S.! I need an adult! Somebody! Anybody! Amazing player in peril here! Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp!!!" He could've sworn he saw the trees shake from the sheer magnitude of his voice alone, but he chalked it up to just the mass migration of birds that coincidentally fled the area just as he started shouting.

  5. Despite being only level one and outfitted with the worst possible equipment imaginable, Seul had managed to reach the second floor settlement of Urbas by following in the deadly wake of a party whose strength far exceeded his own. Any mobs that happened to stroll by were easily dispatched and a clear cut path to the second floor was his to venture down. Of course he kept his distance from them, as anyone would naturally be wary if they knew they were being tailed. Though if the group did detect Seul's presence they didn't pay it any mind. Probably figured he was too weak to actually be a threat of some sort and if he was being honest with himself they weren't wrong. Still, after a full day of travelling, everyone in their party had made it in one piece just as dusk fell and he was happy the trip went off without any real problems for them as he passed through the town's gates only moments after.

Unfortunately the feeling didn't last long. Only a half hour after his arrival the sun had gone down. There wasn't a single Col to his name and the NPC who ran the local inn wouldn't rent him a room without any money. Sleeping outside of town was out of the question and sleeping in the open was about the same as wearing a huge 'please force me into accepting a total loss duel' sign. Staying awake was an unreasonable answer as well. Out of the three he figured just hunkering down in the middle of town was the best option. Nobody would want to mess with him as he didn't have anything of value. What would they steal? His crummy dagger? He doubted it'd even fetch a price anywhere. That argument convinced him into wandering about until he found the town's plaza and the most comfortable looking bench around.

Morning hit like a ton of bricks. The sun was directly overhead and it seemed as though more time had passed than just a couple of hours. Seul didn't place too much thought into it though. His hunch had held true; providing him with probably the only time he'd be thankful for looking like a wimp. Such thoughts were pushed aside as a new problem arose. The monsters on this floor were more dangerous than the last. Each one had the potential to one shot him into oblivion. There must've been some way to toughen up quickly. His eyes darted about the now bustling area before resting on a bulletin board he recognized from his exploration the previous night. Without wasting another moment he sot up from his temporary bed and darted for the board. There had been another player, a boy who seemed to be about his age, who was paused in front of it and holding a single piece of paper before placing it back. Seul managed to stop just short of crashing into him, only coming close and skidding through the dirt hard enough to kick up a small dust storm behind him.

An accusing finger jetted out at the boy's face from Seul's palm. "Oh no! Don't think I'm going to let you take all the good quests! I saw them first; they're mine!" His voice was boisterous and arguably high-pitched. The exchange managed to draw the attention of quite a few people who were passing by and the it didn't long for whispers to start amassing among the onlookers.

  6. Hello everyone. (\(*~*)/)

I've been stalking this place for a while, reading through the many threads and character journals, but never actually joined until recently. o-o From what I've seen everyone seems pretty cool and the game mechanics have been well thought out so I figured I'd give it a go.

    Some info about me:

-I like anime. Like stuff other than SAO too. xD

-Prefer manga and light novels though.

-I've been rping for a few years in different places.

-Some of my favorite games in no particular order: Persona (3&4), Dark Cloud, Nier, Drakengard, Demon's Souls, Dark Souls 1&2, Disgaea, Bravely Default, Dragon Quest, Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter, Pokémon (...All of them -\\\\-), Dead Space 1-3, Shadow of the Colossus, Smash Bros, and Final Fantasy XIV.

Um yeah, I'm not too good at filling these introduction type things out. I'll probably cross paths with you eventually so I'll cut it here. Farewell for now.

And I hope I don't die right off the bat. .~.

    Real Name: Kamau Loner

    Age: 26

    Gender: Male

    Height: 5'10"

    History

Kamau was born to a middle class family in New York. Other than his parents, his family consisted of an older a brother and sister as well as a younger brother; all of whom he got along with fairly well. In adulthood he decided to move to Tokyo.

Growing up, he didn't have many friends that he'd hang out with on a regular basis. Most days were spent rushing home from school so that he could sit in his room with the curtains drawn. Online gaming was one of the few hobbies he had. When the NerveGear launched he was the first among his siblings to be in possession of one, and when the flashy Sword Art Online was announced there wasn't a day that went by where Kamau wouldn't stalk internet forums devoted to news surrounding the revolutionary title. The night before release, he camped outside the store alongside other hardcore fans. When launch day came he snagged one of the few copies being sold in stores and logged in as soon as the servers were up.

    Virtues (To Be Updated Soon)

(+) Eccentric: "You think I'm weird?!" Going off on tangents during a conversation is to be expected from him. This abnormal attitude he displays can be considered uplifting for others and despite his strange mannerisms he can act seriously when necessary.

(+) Calculating: "Don't worry, I have a plan." Though he may seem simple at times, the gears in his mind are always turning. He tries to see situations from every angle before deciding on the best course of action.

(+) Optimistic: "Things aren't so bad." He has a positive outlook on the world as a whole and believes that there is at least some good in everyone he meets. This idealistic reasoning is what drives him to pursue his goals, regardless of how ridiculous they may seem.

    Flaws (To Be Updated Soon)

(-) Apathetic: "Why do you guys look so upset?" One of the major faults people find in him is his indifference towards death. He feels there's no point in dwelling on such things and would rather forget about the deceased than be depressed by their passing. No amount of mourning can bring them back anyway. After learning the truth about Opal's motives for betraying the knights and joining Laughing Coffin something within Seul changed. Being powerless to prevent the woman from walking into her own certain death, he realized just how easily life could be destroyed. Why did things played out in such a cruel way? What gave his life more value than hers? He didn't know the answers, but he did learn that time in this realm is precious as a result. Afterward he vowed not to take living for granted anymore and also to work hard in order to keep the people around him from dying at the hands of the game.

(-) Impatient: "Let's go already." Waiting is not his strong suit. When forced to wait for extended periods of time he becomes restless and irritable; usually ending with a table or two being flipped.

(-) Forgetfulness: "What were we talking about again...?" He has trouble remembering simple things such as directions or names even after shortly coming into contact with the person/place. Getting lost has always been one of his favorite pastimes.
