    To say that things had gone off the deep end was an understatement.

    Four turns of memery was all it took to reduce the collective player base into aimless rioting. Some were sniveling in a corner, others were flexing. Some danced, while others chose to brood. All variety of players were joking around, riding event bosses, crashing through floors, questioning their self worth, regretting their impending demise, springboarding off of their peers, and otherwise abandoning all sense of logic or reason.

    It was chaos. And it was beautiful.

    Gob-Gob, still lamenting the death of Jim and its other high school pals, welcomed Oscar's embrace with open arms. If his friends from the nth dimension were to be no more, at least it could find solace and acceptance in its old owner's companionship. It hoisted the blond, axe-wielding maniac onto its back and gave him the piggyback ride of a lifetime. Right before bucking in jest, but accidentally hurtling the man straight out of orbit and toward the sun. Oops. As it turns out, the flexing of the players had enhanced Gob-Gob's power level, making it capable yeeting things into oblivion without even meaning to. How's that for a backfire?

    Swine Jesus was in a panic searching for its child, Swine Bajesus. But in the midst of its frenetic, ADHD-ridden search, it got caught up in the groove of the other players. Having seemingly forgotten about its progeny, the overly muscular pig resorted to dancing alongside the players in an act of unexpected solidarity. But all was not lost. Because, you see, the apple does not fall far from the tree. Swine Bajesus had had its father's groovy gene passed onto it, and ended up right in the middle of the impromptu break dancing circle. Swine Jesus and Swine Bajesus, along with the other grooving players, all joined together in a harmonious waltz, over the debauchery and under the moon to the tune of screaming children and the crackle of flames.

    And then, it happened.

    Soundtrack: Arabian yodeling.

    Finally, having had enough, Rain Minion 12 stood from its throne and rose a single, open palm as though to command silence. As though willed to by some unseeable force, everyone - mobs and players alike - stopped to gaze upon their amphibious overlord. A steady trail of smoke rose from its blunt, sunlight reflecting from a single golden ray illuminated its sunglasses, and its grotesque, oily skin glistened and shined with all the beauty and grace of the crown that sat atop its head. Slowly, it parted its lips.

    "Wack."

    For you see, the Kings had grown bored.

    It rose its arm and pointed its Beretta toward the sky, firing as rapidly as it could squeeze the trigger with its cruddy, webbed fingers, unloading its entire magazine into the clouds above. By the majesty of its grace, the cavities left behind in the cumulonimbus strata allowed a heavenly glow to seep through and touch the bodies of the fabled mobs. One after another, Rain Minion 12, Swine Jesus, and Gob-Gob rose from the ground and were gradually pulled toward the light. The hand of God had tugged on their strings, and it was time to go.

    CONGRATULATIONS..?

    This event is classified as non-canon. What this means is that this event will not be recognized as an official part of the website's history or lore. As such, no item rewards can be distributed. That being said, there are SP rewards (which will be listed below) that you can put in your tracker, and will count toward your overall SP total as a reward for putting up with us dastardly staff. 

    As an addendum to the notice above, your characters may still reference back to this event as something akin to deja vu, or a fever dream, or a fantasy novel they read once, etc. Players may also speak of this to other characters, who may realize they share the same memory, but it should always be recognized that it is not an actual piece of the website's history or lore. 

    Due to the event's non-canon status, all consumable items used in this thread are automatically refunded back to their owners.

    And finally, thank you all for taking this joke in good stride and having fun with it. The community was clearly engaged in this event, given the activity. Events like this are not going to be commonplace, and may in fact never occur again. But we hope that this was a good opportunity for some of the more ridiculous things you may have wanted to do, but felt you had no outlet for. Whether you chose to have your characters dance, flex, take themselves too seriously, run away, disappear, ride a baby boar, crash through the floors of Aincrad, springboard off of a white mop (again), embody memes, do superhero landings, or whatever else, we enjoyed every post here. You all made it fun, and that's what this website is supposed to be about.

     

    Rewards

    - Even players that were ejected from the event are eligible for rewards!

    - Please do not add these Skill Points to your Journal until the thread has been closed.

    - Following this post, players will have 48 hours to submit a final closure post for their character if they so choose to do so. Players are permitted one (1) post per character already active in the event between this post and the thread closure. Final SP counts for the thread, which will include the page SP rewards and the 2.6 Finale Bonus, will be on the final post.

    Players with 1 post earn 2 SP as an event bonus, in addition to page SP rewards and the 2.6 Finale Bonus.

    Things were really starting to ramp up now.

    It appeared that the Kings' flexing had become infectious. As a result, countless players had begun to flex back. The Kings, who weren't particularly enthralled to be flexed at, regarded their adversaries with scorn, and simply flexed back. With the exception of Rain Minion 12, who sorta just sat there. In the end, everyone looked fabulous.

    One player had tried to heal Rain Minion 12. Rain Minion 12, however, was completely unaware, as it was blind and wasn't listening that moment. The action drained 100% of Snow's remaining Energy, and all of the HP that was gained back was immediately wiped out by the other players that were attacking, bringing Rain Minion 12 all the way back down to 1 HP. A shame. Some people just want to watch the world burn.

    Come players were now offering sick dance moves as tribute to the Kings. While the Kings refused to outwardly show their appreciation, they were secretly impressed. Rain Minion 12 began bobbing its head, Gob-Gob began tapping its foot, and Swine Jesus broke out into a sick air guitar solo. Everyone was having a good time, except for the players who faced certain death.

    Strange, eldritch abominations had begun crawling into this plain of existence from the ever widening maw of the anti-reality portal that Leeroy and Jenkins had transformed into. Gob-Gob laughed and clapped, jumping back and forth from one foot to the other as though a toddler being granted a snack for good behavior. Its cousins had finally arrived. And was that Jim? Gob-Gob hadn't seen Jim since high school. The reunion would have been emotional, had there not been about a hundred annoying players nipping at their ankles.

    Swine Jesus didn't get hit. Nothing else to add to that, really. The writer just thought that was interesting.

    The cultists were still there, but their chanting had turned to singing. Moments later, the anti-reality portal schlorped them all into its event horizon, then snapped shut forever. Turns out the thing the anti-reality portal hated the most was musicals. The resulting shockwave of the portal's explosion destroyed all of the anti-reality mobs that had come from the other side instantly. Gob-Gob shed a single tear has he said goodbye to his companions for the last time.

    Then it flexed. And Swine Jesus the Untouchable Badass of Porky Grace and Anti-Bacon squealed. And the players wept.

  4. THE ULTIMATE SHOWDOWN

    A trap? So now they were talking about it candidly. Good. That was a good step. 

    Among the voices, the Kings heard confusion. General uncertainty about what the bosses were, or what they meant. Inquiries about how they were they way they were. Some of them seemed to believe that killing all three mobs at the same time was the key. Some players bragged about other players for no apparent reason. Some stood idly by, simply waiting for the next wave to come.

     For others, a sudden, universal understanding that the fight was not what it seemed, and that Rain Minion 12 was the key to securing the fate of the others. And then a sinking feeling as they struck the smug fish again, and again, and again. Each blow bringing it closer to total exhaustion of its health bar, but never to absolute depletion. Eventually, its health refused to tick down any further, remaining stalwart within its virtual container despite the continued abuse Rain Minion 12 suffered. 

    Some players were strategizing. Others were arguing. Some were helping their companions out of the muck. Others, stomping them right back into it. Some complained about the mechanics. Some remained unusually optimistic, despite facing certain death. The only sentiment that seemed to be shared by the whole of the crowd as an overwhelming resentment for the creatures standing in front of them. And so they continued to fight, even if they knew it wouldn't mean anything. 

    How foolish.

    Eventually, Gob-Gob fell again. Its pieces dispersed, then reassembled just as quickly, presenting the goblin's rippling frame to the masses once more. As it respawned and flexed out over the crowd, the players would feel their health diminished once more. Swine Jesus, who had almost forgotten it was even there, squealed in response, sealing the damage as permanent. Rain Minion 12, who had not done anything the entire fight thus far besides snapping its fingers when the time came, took in a deep breath, rematerialized the accessories that had been destroyed in the last round, and... continued to sit there, doing nothing.

    "Nyek-nyek-nyek-nyek..."

    That's when people would begin to hear it. A faint chanting.

    "Nyek-nyek-nyek-nyek..."

    It gradually grew stronger, and louder. Before long, they would reveal themselves. A helping of the players that had fleed before had returned, in formation, green robes with large hoods covering their features. They each held a single candle, and their simultaneous chants pitched together into an overwhelming cacophony.

    "Nyek-nyek-nyek-nyek..."

    So this was what was happening, now. A cult to worship the fish god. They marched around the battlefield, their chant unceasing, paying tribute to the immortal who remained in its throne. Their idol paid them no mind, choosing to spare them from its influence as reward for their unconditional loyalty. The players who fought against the Kings, however, would not be so lucky.

    Continue, warriors.

    The letters appeared and hung in the air, but only for a moment.

  5. THE ULTIMATE SHOWDOWN

    So they had chosen to remain and fight. How foolish. Though, to say that they didn't fare well would be a lie. They utterly crucified the gods that stood before them. But they would soon learn just how they had earned the title in the first place.

    They tried many things. Crystals aimed to tarnish their flawless stats, which would of course fail. Attacks that maimed them and drained their health. Many of them missed, despite their targets not putting forth any effort to evade them. Save for Swine Jesus, who maneuvered through the incoming onslaught with all the grace of an Olympic ballerina doing Olympic ballerina things. I don't know. He was spinning and doing flips, or whatever it is ballerinas do.

    Point is, he was on the way to his son, Swine Bajesus. They'd been separated long ago by a tyrant in a red jacket. Oh, how close Swine Jesus had come to slaying that wretched noob. Not only had he failed, but he had died in the process. The snow-haired goon then returned to their nesting grounds and captured his progeny, forcing the pup into a life of servitude. As Swine Jesus scooped its child up and shielded it from the chaos, it could tell that it was looking back at their shared adversary with what almost looked like pleading sorrow. Perhaps it was a form of Stockholm Syndrome. 

    Some of the players took the event seriously. Others, such as the children that took a seat upon Rain Minion 12's lap, looked upon the event with scorn. Saw it was nothing more than a cruel joke. They were correct in that it was cruel. Perhaps, even, that it was a joke. But they needed to be shown their place. Mortals had no place on a throne occupied by a scaled deity. Though, strangely, Rain Minion 12 paid them no mind at first. Hell, it didn't even seem to react to the weapons scraping against its hide. Was it asleep? Stoned? The shades made it difficult to tell.

    What was that? One of them had just asked where they worked out. Oh, dear mortal, you could never handle our gym. To us, you don't even lift.

    You never should have come here.

    The words appeared silently, their lettering hanging in the air above the mobs as the players rained an endless volley of attacks against them.

    The others were smart to flee.

    And then, Gob-Gob and Swine Jesus perished. Having taken too much damage to sustain life, their figures splintered before eroding away into dwindling fractal shards. As the clouds of azure triangular pixels waned, Rain Minion 12 finally made its move. With a single snap of its grotesque, slimy fingers, the battlefield sprang to life. Not only did its comrades rematerialize from the miasma of blue that had erupted from their corpses, but any and all foolish enough to ride aboard the fish man's lap found themselves instantly teleported back into the crowd of players. In their place, a sign sprouted up from between the amphibian's spread legs.

    "No touchie!" the sign read. Seemed Rain Minion 12 had personal space issues.

    Gob-Gob flexed. Swine Jesus squealed. And together, they brought the collective of insects before them to their knees once more. The players may have thought they were already reaching the end. Rain Minion 12 had just shown them they had a long way to go.

    Soundtrack: Arabian yodeling.

    The bustle of the crowd seemed to quiet as storm clouds suddenly moved in, enveloping the whole of Aincrad. Silence blanketed the expanse as quickly as the darkness that followed, the only sounds heard being the occasional quiet murmur of skeptical players and the whispering of the surrounding flora as the increasingly frenzied wind whipped through it. Any nearby mobs became panicked and erratic, fleeing toward their makeshift shelters, burrows, trees, nearby vegetation; anything that would allow them to hide from what they all seemed to instinctively know was coming. 

    Moisture and fog billowed in through the floating castle's exposed sides, filling the players' nostrils with a familiar dampness. One of flourishing plant life, soft earth, and tepid sky. But also of an omen; something sinister, something brewing, something just beyond the veil - or even the veil itself. Something was coming, or was already there, that stiffened the hairs of everyone in attendance, protesting against the airborne mist that clung to them as they stood at attention. Everyone with a functioning amygdala could feel it. An instinctual fight or flight response that yearned to provoke their unmoving bodies into action. But against what?

    The very air itself almost seemed to be filled with a nervous electricity. And just as the players would collectively come to this realization, as if on cue, that electricity culminated in a white-hot, blinding surge of lightning that parted the quilt of clouds that hovered above. The deafening roar of thunder that followed caused air and earth alike to tremble as the energy of the blast danced along the skin of the players, a concussive wave of displaced air erupting from the point of impact and blasting away in all directions with the force of a microburst barreling down a mountain. From the cumulonimbus cavity left in the wake of the surge, a single ray of blinding golden sunshine shone through and down upon the players. 

    As they squinted to adjust their eyes to the heavenly glow, some may have begun to see it. The silhouettes of three creatures that had slowly begun to descend upon the masses, as though dangled by the hand of God himself. Those who recognized even one of the forms against the backdrop of light could only stare on in abject horror, all too aware of the terror the players now faced. Those who recognized two had already begun to panic. And the poor souls who recognized all three had all but given up hope, relenting to the whims of the Great Cardinal, who they could only surmise wanted the whole of Aincrad wiped from existence once and for all.

    And last, but not least, Rain Minion 12.

    The most diabolical combination of absurd power ever conceived by anyone, ever. Screams and shouts could be heard as players chose to either form ranks in futile preparation for combat, or cleverly flee before the battle even got started. Everyone had come awash with the overwhelming understanding that this was the end, whether positive or negative for the players. It had all led up to this moment. An ultimate showdown between the most legendary creatures of Aincrad, pitted against the whole of its denizens. This was it.

    As they finally touched down against the trembling landscape, another pulse of air retreated from them, carrying with it the taste of raw power. No sooner had they stepped foot on Aincrad's soil than chaos ensued. Gob-Gob flexed menacingly at the mob of players, who would all instantaneously feel their vitality diminished to an exorbitant degree. The sheer intimidation of his indomitable physique had sapped away all confidence in their own, reducing them to halves of what they used to be. Swine Jesus, seemingly humored by the players' despire, let loose a mighty squeal that emanated through the crowd, making the effects permanent. Rain Minion 12, who recognized his power was not yet needed, seated himself comfortably in the lavish throne that had inexplicably materialized behind the trio. He sized up the feeble ants that dared to challenge the gods with a smug indifference, seeming to neither care whether they had the will to continue or not.

    They had made their opening move, and now they waited for the players to make their own. One might wish the gods to be with them, but as the situation unfolded, it was becoming clear that they were anything but.

    All Players suddenly receive the same message from an unknown sender.

    Players,
    If you want your freedom, face The Kings. Meet outside of the Town of Beginnings in one week's time.

    A week has passed and Aincrad has been abuzz with excitement. Could this really be the way out that everyone has been hoping for? And why now? The Frontlines weren't even close to Floor 100. Perhaps a glitch in Cardinal's script? Whatever the reason, it was too good of an opportunity to pass up. Even the mere chance of returning home was too good for many players to pass up. At the appointed time, players of all levels and skills had congregated outside the main gates. There was an anxious silence over the crowd as they awaited the arrival of The Kings. For many of them, all of their hopes rode on this battle. So what will it be, players? Will you join the faceless masses and challenge The Kings?

    Rules
    Rotations will be accelerated. Players are given 48 hours to respond instead of the normal 72.
    Alt characters are allowed and encouraged.
    Players can join the battle at any point, not just during the initial preparation period.
